Located somewhat away from the Old Town area (insofar as Washington was my personal boundary for Old Town proper), Joe's manages to combine a lot of little elements from other sports bars in the area, resulting in an open, friendly atmosphere that was quick to find its cast of regulars. But I'm here for the food, of course, and it's not bad. Joe's shares an unlikely similarity with the Pour Haus - two places that opened around the same time, and both of which offer a Jucy Lucy, that burger of dreams - provided you have a dream of being scalded by surprise molten hot cheese in your burger. The similarities continue in the cooking process - each variation left a good bit of inconsistent pink in the middle. On the one hand, the largest failing of the Jucy Lucy was how overcooked it had to be to get that cheese a-flowin', so kudos for not having to resort to that. On the other hand, for a burger like this I don't know if I really desire any pink to my meat, but compared to the alternative, I'll take it. The fries and side of chili I ordered were pretty average, but I still came away with positive feelings for Joe's - between the beer selection, atmosphere, and not-crappy food selection, it was pretty alright.

After hearing a horror story from a friend's friend. I decided to look into a situation they had here. It looks like this place is only trying to make a quick buck and it isn't going to last. A girl was apparently the victim of identify theft and credit card fraud and the culprit was the bartender himself. The tab was only $16 and when she went to pick up her receipt she saw that the slip said $100 for a tip and her signature was forged. She said after arguing for 30 minutes that the manager said he would refund her $96 because she said she tipped $4. She said. No. Refund the whole amount and they relented. And then yelled "You're Welcome!" As she was leaving. What the hell? The people you employ at an establishment should not act as common criminals. I wonder how much they are scamming from the company if this is how they treat their patrons. And quite frankly. I don't care. I write this review if only for a warning to those wishing to visit this establishment. If you use a credit card, check your balances. Or just don't go here at all. This is scary to know that people employ scam artists like this. Be careful and let this serve as a warning.

This place is an absolute nightmare. Spent money on numerous drinks in the bar and grill side and walked over to the live band side and spent more money for my cousin's wedding. One female in the group walked to the bathroom out of a side door (because the original door we walked through was closed) and when she came back they tried to charge her 10 dollars to get in. Keep in mind we were already spending money and already inside for more than an hour before. Just for her going to the bathroom. The security guards held her outside and would not let her go in to notify her group what was going on at all. When she did make it in the security guard was very rude to her and her father standing over them and telling them to leave despite the fact no confrontation took place they were just trying to leave. I'm from Alabama and I would NOT recommend this bar to ANYONE. Service=horrendous.

Guess I should have read the reviews on this place before we made a trip downtown! We were actually with someone who knows an employee there so we agreed to accompany them for the evening. Pimply dude at the gate lets the women of our party in but charges the guys $5 each to get in? Whhaaaat??? For WHAT? No band, no music or any event to see that night---you want a COVER charge?? FOR WHAT?? There is NO atmosphere here. Barely discernible music (unless it's after ten and the scenery changes and suddenly there is hiphop music loud enough to hear) Lots of tv's. Dirty women's bathroom with piss on the seats and no toilet paper...oh wait it's all on the floor. Nice. Every table we started to sit down at, had sticky drink mess on them but you had lots of employees hanging at the bar talking instead of wiping tables. We'd planned on staying a few hours, enjoying some drinks and some food. But you traded your measly cover charge for what could have been a mighty lucrative couple of hours of purchases! We were not moved to stay for more than one round of crappy drinks. (was there any liquor in our mixed drinks, all of us wondered out loud???) We went somewhere else and spent money on food and drinks and had a great time and all of us said NEVER AGAIN to Joe's. (Review on that coming) Hope those few cover charges were worth never seeing money from people willing to spend it when they go out! A table full of people dropped $$$ at your competition with NO cover charge to enter AND they had great atmosphere!

I've heard not to eat here before, but I went for it anyway and paid the price. About an hour or 2 later I was was laying on the couch writhing in pain. I ended up getting sick. The next day wasn't any better and my stomach still felt like someone was punching it over and over again. Please don't eat here. They have pretty good drink specials and their tap system works great (your beer will always be cold and poured well,) but you don't want to eat their food no matter what.

I've gone to Joe's off and on since they opened and never had complaints until recently, deali g almost exclusively with customer service and experience. I went recently with several friends on a Thursday night (middle of the week night). When my girlfriend and I got to the gate, I was informed that there was a $5 cover for women and a $10 cover for men. First, any cover over $5 in Wichita, Kansas is ridiculous. But worse than that is what the response was when I inquired as to the reason for the high cover. The doorman informed me there was no live music, no special performance. He said the high cover was justified solely because they were running drink specials. They gouged me at the door to make up for the fact they decided to have drink specials. I've NEVER been to a bar - even in New York or Los Angeles where I live now - that justifies a cover that high simply because they ran specials. Might as well not have had them at all, because our group eventually decided the specials were bad enough and our server's service was so slow that we stayed for one drink. It took forever to get orders taken and to get served. True, we had a big group. But it was a big group of lawyers who were ready to spend money and came away in various stages of disappointment at the establishment. I ended up paying over $12 for a Boulevard Wheat ($2.75 for the beer, plus $10 cover). Will never be patronizing Joe's again. I'd rather spend my money across the street at Mort's.

What can I say about this place? I like it a lot. The first time I came here was for drinks. Everyone I knew was talking about this place, so I had to check it out. Walking in, you are instantly in the middle of the action. There are several large HDTV's plastered all over the walls, and a couple of projectors for the big games. There are literally several options to sit down. It has a large exposed ceiling, and a outdoor seating area. I believe this place used to be a garage and got converted into a sports bar. A lot of money poured in this place. As for a place to hang out on a Saturday night, is a great spot. The place is large enough that you won't be bumping shoulder to shoulder to get a drink. Their drinks are reasonably priced. As for a place to grab some food, this place passed my expectations. I decided that today I would try their food. I was told that they served good sandwiches and had something I have never heard of. Philly cheese steak entree encased in a wanton. Amazing! I had ordered their standard hamburger, which had several options to top the burger. It was priced at 7.50 which comes with chips and a pickle. A friend of mine had the turkey sandwich. This was around 11:50 am for lunch time, and it only took 10-15 minutes before we got our food. I had ordered a salad to go with it for 1.75 which was a steal at that price. The salad was on a plate with ranch dressing. It actually had several different types of greens on the salad. Some places cheap out and just give you lettuce. It was plated well and look good. Upon eating it, it was good to the last leaf. A few minutes after we finished our salads, we got our main course. The burger was huge and well put together. I first took a bite out of the pickle... and I must say it was one of the best pickles I've had. Not sure what type it is, but it had a smoked flavor to it. Definitely different than the usual ones. The hamburger was delicious. It also had that grilled smokey flavor in the meat. It was seasoned just right and cooked right. It wasn't overly greasy or portioned wrong. The bacon was cooked perfectly. Not too crispy and not too soft. They did the lettuce/condiments the same way Sonic does it. Puts them on the bottom of the burger. Our waitress did a fair good service. She wasn't too intrusive, or not present during our meal and refilled our waters at the right time. I will definitely will be coming back as long as the service and quality never changes. Definitely a change of pace from your typical sports bar (ie: Heroes and Buffalo Wild Wings.)
