Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

First time at this Carlos O'Kelly's. The decor was the first thing we noticed. It was very nice. The second thing we noticed was the enthusiasm of our waiter, Cody. We was very positive, gave us good service offering suggestions etc. Our food was very good too. We both had different burritos, and black beans. Everything was good and this was the best Carlos O'Kelly's I have eaten at.

Horrible food. And watered down mixed drinks. Better to just go to Taco Bell been twice in three years and now I know I remember why I dont eat there

The staff at this restaurant is SO amazing! We forgot to check if the refried beans were vegetarian until after the food was brought out, and when they said it wasn't, they re-made ALL our food for us with black beans instead. Much appreciated!

My husband & I went here several times. It was conveniently located by where I used to live before we got married. We had to ask for a hotter salsa for our chips -- which they obliged. My husband liked their Chile Con Queso very much. We ordered the 'house' margarita, but it tasted a little watery -- so we started ordering an upgraded margarita on future visits. Although they don't use pork (which we love) -- they do have steak -- and the Burro En Fuego (Fuego is hot & spicy - yum!) was one of our first picks. The cheese and onion enchiladas are good. But what I found that ended up loving was the Prairie Fire Steak & Enchiladas -- and when I asked to substitute cheese enchiladas for the ground beef, they did it -- no problem!! Service was great, always!! What I found amusing was that one of the male servers was TOTALLY digging my husband!! My husband stood up to take off his jacket & this male server was in heaven!! Many good laughs for us later -- btw. As a footnote -- we tried a different Carlos O'Kelley's in SW Missouri and the experience was only @ a 2. The Chile Con Queso wasn't as good and neither was the food. The servers were still attentive, but the food wasn't great.

I've been here at least a dozen times. The food and cheap drinks are what keeps me coming back. The service here is upsetting. No one seems to take pride in their service. I have yet to get a server that didn't seem annoyed I was there. Maybe I keep going at the wrong time.

Seriously, Carlos O'Kelly's has some of the most impressively mediocre to boardline terrible Tex Mex in Wichita. chips, salsa, and their pizza crisp appetizer are the only things I'd recommend. Actually I'd recommend another restaurant, but if you've made up your mind on C.O.K's these are the only 3 things I'd recommend. Reason why this place is still open? Drink specials! Huge Margaritas $3 during happy hour. Their crappy sisco food tastes much better after several drinks.

Went on a Saturday evening and got seated right away even though I expected a crowd at the door. The Chipotle Chicken Burrito was tasty as were the chips and salsa. The guacamole served as an appetizer was bland. The decor is nicer than I remember at the their other places in Wichita. Service was attentive.

Pretty good mexican food. Big fan of their Chipotle Chicken Burrito that is smothered in Diablo Sauce. One of my vices. Chips and Salsa isn't overly hot either.
