Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Aljandro's Is a little Mexican placed tucked back in a corner. It has some of the best burritos I have ever eaten. I eat her a couple of times a week. The Colorado burrito is my favorite along with the breakfast burrito. Huge portions at very reasonable prices. If you want food that is a it on the greasy side usually smothered in cheese this is the place to go. The drive through is open pretty much 24 7. I have seen a huge line at the drive through after the bars close in the mornings.

Skip this one! One star is too high. Even Taco Bell is better. Guacamole is runny and probably came out of a can. Meat was very dry. No Thank You.

It's cheap, it's tasty.

Alejandro's, oh Alejandro's. You are a gift from the Burrito gods. I've been a repeat customer of this place for years. Really great authentic fast Mexican food. Every time I come in the employees are so nice to me and even give me free Horchata from time to time. huge menu, and lots of vegetarian choices. I personally love the supreme burrito. Also, if you're a night owl, they're open pretty much all the time! killer breakfast too!

Delicious authentic mexican food. Being from San Diego, this place reminds me a lot of a chain called Albertos. Huge portions, and delicious every time.

Good and bad. The three salsa's were all very good. I ordered the carna Asada breakfast and my wife ordered the huevos rancheros breakfast with a side of potatoes. My beans were cold and the meat was trivial at best. The huevos rancheros were good, but the side of potatoes were disgusting.. They gave her limp, greasy fries instead of home fries or something resembling a breakfast style potato. We are going to give it one more shot with their burritos...

Normally the place we go after a night of having a few drinks and I always get a tummy ache but not this time. Way to go food was good. Will go back as always on my next evening adventure.

It's what you would expect from a little Mexican place. Super low prices. I hot the California burrito, it was pretty good. A little greasy but tasty. It was really fast too! I would go back, I want to try their breakfast burritos.

As a southern CA native I have an appreciation for really good Mexican good and Alejandro's did not disappoint. My CA burrito was really good, minus one star because of some chewy meat.
(4)Jolene T.
One of my favorite authentic Mexican restaurants. Everything I've had there is pretty good. My favorite is the Colorado burrito. And they serve breakfast all day and open late!
(5)Bud B.
Reminds me of albertos in southern California. Very good for that style of Mexican. And best in town

What Mexican joint doesn't have queso?! Cold food.not melted cheese, didn't even make the order right. Not hard to make 2 beef enchiladas and got cheese instead

I've visited Alejandro's many times, often late at night when I'm not really feeling the drive all the way over to the north side for some tacos. I have tried the carne asada tacos 3 times now and have been disappointed each time. The meat is always dry or fatty and the tortilla tastes like it came straight out of a bag. The only good thing about the tacos is the freshness of the veggies. Other than that, the beans and rice are delish. Not authentic tasting considering all of the hype it receives about being "soooo authentic".
(2)Aliza M.
Love their fish tacos. Their burritos portion is well worth the money. Must try their rice drink if you like something different. Customer service is OK. Nice sauce bar inside.
(5)Michelle H.
No pictures on the menu---no bueno. Got carna asada tacos (flour). The churros were small, but not too bad. They give you a lot of meat and side sauces. Guy at the drive-thru was pretty friendly too (unlike a ton of other taco shops). Not the tastiest, but not bad either. I'll probably try other items on the menu whenever I get a chance.

Awesome to get a quick lunch or dinner if your working at McConnell AFB or are in the neighborhood. It's unique in a sense because it's like fast food but, it is made to order. They even have a drive thru which is pretty sweet. Food comes out fast so its a great place to go to for lunch. They have a taco deal i really like where you can get 3 tacos for $5 and you have like 4 different meats to choose from. Great little place.
(4)Kris T.
Dine here because of all the hype about it being good and authentic. I'd say it's over rated! Waste of money. Left hungry!

How can a place go from raving about it to friends and worker, then a year later, you wish they didn't exist .Cold food ,tasteless food, and awesome personality's. Don't bother here.
(1)Jimmy P.
24hrs authentic Mexican food. The only thing that I hate is that they serve food on cheap plates, and do not have homemade tortillas.
(5)Valencia M.
I love Alejandro's, I eat here ALL THE TIME. The ine thing abt this place I do not care for is their cashier/drive thru girl, she has a horrible attitude, other than that its great
(3)Jordana G.
A great find heading north on 35. Had tacos and burritos. Carne asada, chicken, beans etc. All good. The green salsa is lame but the red salsa is good.
(5)Katherine D.
If you are looking for sit down fine Mexican family style dining look elsewhere. If you are looking for quick authentic delicious, fried greasy fresh food that will tame any hangover, or nightcap a drunken evening to help prevent one this is the place. Skip the frilly fair and stick to the basics, tacos, burritos etc. I have never gone wrong with a shredded beef taco. Deep fried and covered in cheese, saved my life after a few to many I'm sure. If you are going to clog your arteries with crap, why not make it delicious and local, why not support a family business? Oh did I mention they are friendly and 24 hours? Trust me you'll never eat Taco Bells dog food again.
(4)Sidney H.
I had the shrimp burrito which contained shrimp, bell peppers, and onions. It was good with a peppery taste throughout the burrito. It tasted authentic I guess. The carne asada torta was rather plain looking as it was nothing but meat and lettuce between two buns. But it tasted better than it looked. It was surprisingly good. Maybe it was the bread. Maybe it was the meat. Who knows? I'll probably go back to try some of their other offerings.
(3)Derek K.
Good food. Full of grease though. Hard to understand the people taking your order because the place is authentic. Very cheap though and a definite place to go the day after a night out with friend for their amazing breakfast burritos.
(3)Serena C.
I'm in town visiting family and stopped in for a quick lunch. Delicious! The super nachos were great.
(5)Jonathan W.
When you are from South Texas and you miss home Alejandro's is the place to go. Authentic and delicious Mexican food just like back home. No breakfast tacos but the breakfast burritos are absolutely amazing! Everything I have eaten here has been top notch. The atmosphere is what you would find back home which adds to the experience. Give it a try. You'll absolutely love it!
(5)Ashley W.
Our favorite after-church breakfast place. Their bacon, egg, potato and cheese breakfast burritos are bomb. They are huge with lots and lots of bacon. Real thick bacon- not the thin kind. Very filling. My favorite thing there by far.
(4)Gary R.
Needed a TexMex fix after all the Thanksgiving food. Wife had Shredded Chicken burrito that she enjoyed; me the Carne Asada plate. Fresh off the cooktop flour tortillas, fresh ingredients, good rice and beans; styro plates, plastic utensils. Would visit again if I'm passing thru.
(3)Brad S.
I guess it's not THAT bad - three large tacos for $5 was a good deal, especially when it was 11:30 at night on a Friday and everything in the city was, of course, closed. The carnitas was dry, but the asada and adovada were pretty good. The salsa is still really thin and a bit bitter, though, but when it comes to late night Mexican on Rock, Alejandro has the market cornered.
(3)Mike D.
Food was good, it was just a little dive place. Ok little place for lunch.
(3)Clay V.
Real home-style Mexican. Not spicy TexMex, but just as flavorful and made with quality ingredients. The service is very friendly and kind. They do have a drive-through. The inner decor is somewhat utilitarian, but I still have to go 5 stars because of the food quality and service.
(5)Jason R.
GREAT mexican food! Everything is good, but don't use the salsa unless you like cilantro. I've had almost everything on the menu but my favorite is the shredded chicken tacos.
(5)Janet P.
The food here is given in large portions and it's cheap! I just went yesterday for a Colorado burrito and it was only $6ish dollars and about the same size as a Chipotle burrito: BIG!! I couldn't finish it, booo...It's definitely worth a try and you won't be disappointed! They serve quesadillas, tacos, carne asada fries, breakfast burritos, etc!
(5)Quinn H.
I've always driven past this place, but never went until a friend of mine suggested it for breakfast after a crazy night of bachelorette party bus fun. The menu was, like, WOAH. Such a huge selection of favorite Mexican dishes, all prepared in a flash. I got a burrito with steak, potatoes, cheese and guacamole. Including the drink and tip, it was only eight bucks. And after a night of wild fun, this was just what the doctor ordered. I'll definitely be visiting again to try more of the menu items!
(5)Victoria N.
Food was good and prices were great. I was very happy with it. I would definitely return.

This place has a very similar menu to many of he other Mexican take outs in Wichita. I've eaten there on several occasions. I've found the beef taco plate to be very tasty. The tacos are fried with the meat in them, so you have the crispy shell along with melty cheese. The chips and guacamole were a nice surprise as they come served with melted cheese on them rather than just chips with a container of guac on the side. The shrimp taco is also very good. Service is not particularly friendly, but it is usually quick and efficient. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive.

Edited to add (7/18) - Alejandro's has since become a regular guest on our breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. The shrimp burrito, lengua burrito, breakfast burritos, and plain ol' cheese quesadilla are some of our favorites. --- Twice now I've sampled cuisine from Alejandro's but have learned that their menu really shines when you hop just a little off the beaten path. The shrimp burrito is fantastic - and large enough to feed both my husband and me for lunch. Although their menu encompasses all the standard Mexican fare, try something a little more unusual like the fish tacos, barbacoa, or even the beef tongue if you want to be impressed. The seasonings are well-done, the produce fresh, the cheese generous (always important!), and the prices are very reasonable. The friendly customer service and option to order their entire, vast menu through the drive through makes this the restaurant to beat for Mexican food in Derby. Bonus points? You can sing Lady Gaga's "Alejandro" as you wait for your order to heighten anticipation for the delicious meal you are about to enjoy.

I have nothing bad to say about this place! They have a gigantic selection of authentic Mexican food. Not only is there stuff delicious, but the portions are huge! And the cherry on top is that they're open 24 hours. AND they have a drive-thru! What more could you ask??
(5)Jennifer H.
I've driven by this place too many times to count and always dismissed it. Finally went in today because it was recommended to me and it was fantastic! I come from southern New Mexico and have been looking for some good Mexican food since I can to Wichita a year ago, I have finally found it. I recommend this place to anyone wanting some good food at a good price.

Alejandro's has AWESOME burritos!! I have tried other things, and they were okay, but the burritos are GREAT! We love the Carne Asada and the Carnitas the best. Not only are they really tasty, they are HUGE, and they are inexpensive! When we don't have energy/time to cook, we grab Alejandro's burritos!

They suck at English, but who cares! This was my bestie and my favorite place for late night tacos. Authentic, and cheap, oh my god, the burritos. Come hungry. 24 hour drive thru baby. Its a dive, but so worth it! Just a quick jump from the base gate!
