Awesome PIZZA. When you arrive for dine-in or carry-out, get the perfect 300 pizza...I promise, best pizza you will eat.

Stopped in just for pizza - the kid and wife were happy school was out and now we can really hate our children for being lazy and worthless around the house! LOL Anyways, the place was busy - idk, some horse race or belgium square dance performance on the big screens - patrons were not out of line nor were too many of them drunk! The occasional "Ralph" came in from the bowling alley a few times to pick-up their pie and another pitcher of suds. This is pretty much Americana in Sports Bars. However, the pizza is probably in the top 5 of all-time. The crust could use a bit more of a crispy bottom, but the toppings and the amount of what you get for the $$ is over the top! We are so lucky to have this awesome place nearby. Been a Rock Road tradition for many years - perhaps a reason why I move east in the late 80's from College Hill. Anyways - just checking in and glad we ordered the pizza! Go Yelpers, good stuff!

I don't know what this city has against the most perfect food, but there are surprisingly few pizza options. Sure, Bartelli's and Pizza John's are great, but I live on the northeast side of town and don't want to drive 20 minutes one way to get my pie. My search brought me to AJ's, a place which I'm surprised isn't more talked about given its notoriety for serving a 29" pizza, though a mere 12" was in the cards for me. The pizza looked quite promising when I opened that box and gazed upon the pepperoni and jalapeno pie looking back at me - the crust and toppings was singed, slightly blackened on the edges which tends to give everything a nice crispiness. The pepperoni did turn out to be awesomely crispy, and the other ingredients were pretty enjoyable as well - the cheese was a mixture of cheddar and mozzarella - something I prefer - and was also nice and crispy in places due to the high heat of the oven. The sauce was very respectably seasoned, too, making for a lot of components working in AJ's favor, but then I got to the crust. I think the crust was as think as they could make it, but I think it was still a bit too thick for New York-style comparisons. I think this thickness became a problem during the cooking, because it was very close to being undercooked. I don't know if the problem could be rectified by leaving the pie in the oven for a few more minutes, given the state of the toppings and top crust, but it was heartbreaking to see this great-looking pizza, grab a square, and feel my heart sink from the soft crust. Given how much I enjoyed everything else about the pizza, the crust wasn't a dealbreaker, but they were so close to being some truly great pizza. The search may continue for good pizza, but I definitely expect to be ordering again from AJs in the future,

Let's see... What makes for a good Friday night? Bros Beers Poker And one GIANT pizza from A.J's Sports Grill. When you hear 29 inches, well it just doesent sound that big for a 'big pizza'. However one of these will plum stuff 'A Hardy Crew' of 4-6 dudes. But for you normal, sober eaters, Id imagine 10-12 people would be satisfied. They offer carryout service and man, its just plain fun to bring in a pizza that barely fits into a car door or the front door of your house! Plan your pizza transportation plans accordingly. One other tip I will offer, AJ seems to cut the normal "SuperDome" cooking time a tad short. There have been a few times where our groups pizza has been a tad doughy, which of course affects the enjoyability. I would suggest asking them to bake it a lil longer than normal, but not necessarily crispy. You will find AJs in the same building as North Rock Lanes(bowling alley), but they do have their own entrance and sit down restaurant, offering plenty of TVs, beer, and a full menu of other foods.

Go for the pizza. The superdome is great for parties. Good mixture of cheese and toppings on a thin crust.

Food Poisoning: We were extremely excited to return here. We had previously gone for drinks, pizza, and bowling. We drove out of our way with high hopes of a similar experience. However, immediately we found the service to be poor. This could have been dealt with; any one could have an off day. The pizza tasted great, but the aftermath was not worth the 10 minutes of flavor, as every member of my party underwent the most intense and discomforting food poison any of us have ever experienced. I will spare you from the details but leave you with this warning. I will not be returning.

I'm a fan of this place. The highlight is the pizza and it is really good pizza. The draw back is that the pizza, though amazing when hot, goes south when cold. Talk about two different spectrums of goodness. Preheating does not revitalize. Again let me state that the pizza is off the wall good when hot, but eat right away before the bad has time to surround the pizza goodness. They offer a 29 inch giant pizza which is great for large groups. The sports bar is connected to the North Rock Lanes and they deliver to the lanes. Alot of pizza for a great price so eat up, but eat fast while it's still hot. At least with this place I don't get the midnight raid of the fridge for a cold slice, which probally saves on the beltline. Cold beer, pool tables, tv's, and good food, which makes for a good sports bar. Kudos to AJ if AJ even exsists. If not, Kudos random people who make this place happen.

I went to A.J. Sports Grill this weekend and was thoroughly pleased. I'm a big pizza fan but don't have it often due to its nutritional value, or lack thereof. However, I splurged, and it was worth it. We ordered a 16-inch pizza, which is their medium. We got half sausage, half chicken and veggie and nearly devoured it all. The crust was perfectly hand tossed, the amount of sauce was right on, and the cheese was oh-so-gooey. It made for a nice weekend treat. I plan on going back and highly recommend it. The service was fast and good, so that's also a plus. AND it's a sports bar, but it's smoke free. We were able to play a couple games of pool while waiting on our food. Overall, I'm a fan.

People love the pizza and I haven't figured out why. It's big, but it's too greasy for me. But if you like that kind of super thin no-crust greasy pizza, go for it! The staff is friendly and quick with the drinks, though!

Had the pizza with a large group. The food was "A-OK". Worth going back for....and maybe good compared to other local pizza places, but not great enough to rank high with the great pies found in Chicago. The atmoshphere is great in the bar. The large banquet room is good for large casual groups. I will certainly go back to try other menu items and bowl. Maybe even will swing thru for a Monday Night Football game and make a final determination if AJ deserves another star.

One of the best pies in town (not that that's saying all too much.) Large and greasy, just the way I like it. Pretty good place to have some drinks too, especially since it's attached to a bowling alley. A pretty good place, that I really should try to get out to more.
