I have been here before but this time I ordered the Black Bean burger and it was really awesome. It had spicy salsa/ sauce and spinach on it, but it tasted fabulous with the jalapeño ranch sauce from the condiment table. Make sure you also grab a pickle from that table! They are the bomb. The one downside is that my dad and I ordered a side of sweet potato fries and they actually came with brown sugar on them... Not a fan. I prefer plain sweet potato fries with no added sugar. All they need is salt. I like the regular fries much better. This place is so good otherwise, that it is keeping the five stars despite the gross brown sugar fries.

The food is still on point and the service has improved. The sauce area is still a rolling disaster area. Not sure if this is the fault of the restaurant or the customers (stop being so messy people) but there needs something else going on here. I was embarrassed when I came here with a firearms business partner of mine and it was no concealed carry. Had to turn around and go to the automobile and find another place to eat. I guess we won't be having meetings here.

Everytime I travel to Topeka for work, We always eat here once a week may be twice! Its definitely our go to place to get a good burger.. even a good veggie burger ! The ambience is relaxed and casual. Need a place to grab a couple of drinks and a get some awesome food ... then this is where you should go. They undoubtedly have one of the best black bean patties I have ever had! They glady substitute the meat in any of their other burgers and thats awesome since I can have a different burger everytime. For anyone who likes a spicy burger, their Holy Jalepeneo and fire burgers are a must try ( add a little bit of the Jalepeneo Ranch to it and you have a nice extra kick! ) I absolutely love their Cocoa ketchup .. its a must for me with these burgers ! The only reason for them not getting a full 5 stars from me is that when it gets crowded( it can get very very busy when they have some college specials) their service takes a hit and that did not go down to well with me. Thankfully I have only had one bad experience here and I hope it remains that way !

The Blue Black Burger is wonderful. Just a hint of the blue cheese and not overpowering at all, just the right combination. Service is friendly and fast too with a full bar!

My wife and I were in Topeka for some shopping and stopped in for lunch. It was a neat place and set up with two sides. One die more of a bar type atmosphere with beer pong, pool tables, etc. the food selection is creative and excellent! We each had one of their creative burgers with fries and a shake. I had the duck fat fries! Awesome! I had the fire burger and it was great. Cooked to medium perfectly, juicy, and seasoned well. The girl who made our shakes did a great job. These weren't just generic shakes, they used real fresh toppings (strawberries), whipped cream, etc. the sauces they offer (at a serve your self station) were great! Garlic something, a toasted marshmallow and more! Will definitely go back!!!

I got the smoked burger and it is amazing I highly recommend ...they have really good frys and sauce..I will definitely come back

I was kind of bummed when I went there and they'd removed my fave from the menu, but they make up for it by consistently having excellent specials to try. It's a great place to meet up with friends and hang out.

This place is great! Great ambiance. Great staff. Oh.... And the food is amazing. We tried four of the 6 fries... The poutine was our favorite, but that doesn't mean the others were bad... Complete opposite. My only complaint (and I don't think it's TBJ's fault): We were stopping through Topeka on a road trip... We were looking for a lively bar scene and it wasn't happening. Maybe it's just spring break, Topeka, or something else. If we are ever in the area again, we'll most likely be back!

Great place to go have a beer with friends and family after a long day of classes. Especially on Mondays when it is half off burgers for all students

This is the best burger in Topeka, hands down. I'm so happy they added the Holy Jalapeno burger to the regular menu; be sure to order it on beef or it automatically comes on chicken. It's enough for two people, so bring a friend and split a basket of truffle fries too. Sit at the bar and you get service. Otherwise, you have to order and pay at the counter, then get up when your name is called. The burgers are nice and juicy. The Holy Jalapeno burger has bacon and a cream cheese-jalapeno sauce on it. So. Good. I don't order anything else anymore. I was recently in Topeka after moving to Florida, and this was one of my must-stops.

Just had a wonderful dinner at the Burger Stand. I ordered the black and blue burger with poutine fries. All delicious and cooked perfectly. The blue cheese and apple chutney gave the burger a really nice twang. Servings are generous. Order conservatively unless you plan to take home lots of leftovers. ETA: Try the various dipping sauces available! My own favorite was the house made jalapeño ranch.

It's nice to have the infamous (in a good way) burgers from the Casbah/Burger Stand in Lawrence in Topeka now as well. They are always good when you crave a burger, and they have some veggie options as well. I always stick to my own creation... jalapeno, mayo, cheese, grilled onion. That is hard to beat. On my first visit here they cooked it perfectly. I shared a full basket of duck fat fries... which is delicious and more than enough for two peeps.

The burgers were great. I tried the Fire and my husband had the Smoke. Both were excellent. My daughter had the corn dog. It was a little on the small side but very tasty. The fries were crispy! I had the poutine which was excellent even though it was not made with fresh cheese curds. They have an excellent beer selection. The atmosphere was fun and the bartenders were friendly.

Good selection, busy place but got food in an ok amount of time. Somewhat hard to hear the pa system when they call you to pick up the order. Staff was really friendly especially Dana, even tracked me down to give me my double chocolate Oreo shake, yummy. Unique selection of sauces. Overall a great experience.

I am a huge fan of the Burger Stand on College Hill. Their specials are amazing. I always try something new when I go. You have to get the Truffle Fries and the Garlic Aioli dip. So good..

If for some reason you find yourself in Topeka then this is definitely somewhere you should go. I had the black and blue burger because I saw that it seems to be the recommended burger. I was not disappointed the bourbon cheddar fries were fantastic along with the sauce selection and homemade pickles. Will definitely come here again if I ever find myself here again.

Wow what a disappointment. We have been to the burger stand in Lawrence a couple times and have enjoyed ievery bite. The Topeka location, not so much. The malt sat for so long it was nothing but chocolate milk, and the truffle fries had no taste of truffle oil. This disappointing meal of two burgers, two fries, one hard cider and one chocolate malt cost $35. Save your money.

I love burger stand. It's always relatively steady in terms of traffic, great place to meet after work or take the kids and let them play ping pong while we eat. Super chill place. I recommend.

Lots to choose from but nothing amazing as far as the quality of ingredients or outcome. I might have just made a mistake- I orderd the Thai Turkey thinking I would get a really flavorful Asian inspired item with fresh soft noodles. It tasted like a pre-frozen turkey patty and had some chili sauce and La Choy crispy chow mein pieces. Not a worthwhile addition to my day, or to the menu IMO. Just don't get that one. The sauces, however, were delightful and there were many to choose from for enhancing a sandwich or side item. I tried dipping the defrosted turkey patty into the sauces, and that was OK, but ultimately I gave up on the burger and decided to fill up on fried pickles.

Variety of fries and sauces. Typically a college environment but not crazy wild if you are one of those older quiet types. Prices are a bit high but not terriable.

Now this is what it's all about. My first meal in Topeka was a formidable classic burger. The Burger Stand is one of those places that doesn't do a simple burger. I mean, they don't go crazy with ingredients that clash. But this isn't just ground beef, salt, pepper, tomatoes, and onion. It's not just potatoes fried in oil (although you can do that). This is something higher. While the burger selection is vast, I quickly narrowed it down to the Fire burger. Garnished with avocado and a jalapeno cactus jam, I knew I was in for a good time. I'm all about the cross of sweet and salty. On the side I got duck fat fries, although the poutine sounded awfully tempting. While I waited, I noticed the array of sauces available for the fries. Roasted marshmallow, garlic parm, jalapeno ranch, sriracha aioli, and chipotle cocoa. My favorites were the jalapeno ranch and chipotle cocoa; while the rest were good, I've had iterations of them before. The jalapeno ranch doesn't pack much spice but it captures the actual flavor of the pepper pretty well. The chipotle cocoa definitely has a dominant flavor of chocolate but the smokiness of the chipotle is present. Okay, food time. My burger was cooked medium as requested, served on a fluffy brioche bun. Nice. The duck fat fries were the first casualty, since I'd never had them before. I admit they aren't that much different than regular fries, just a bit more rich. Think coffee with half n half rather than 2%. The burger itself really knocked my socks off. The patty is well seasoned and the jalapeno cactus jam had just the right amount of sweetness. I could have had more avocados, but overall I was really satisfied with my selection. I highly recommend this place, and wish I had gone for dinner just to try some of their beer selection.

Best of burger I ever had... kind of burger I ever wanted taste was here... spicy, sour, mouthful and healthy one with avocado spread, Swiss cheese and if you want to try fries here better to take your friend because you can't finish it all... menu is bit expensive and place was okay and don't forget to taste their sauces along with burgers...

One of the top three restaurants in Topeka for sure! Very fresh, very tasty and very unique. The place is divey and extremely busy almost all the time, so expect to have to wait and then grab the first seat you can find. You will also have to wait quite a while on your food, which is okay because they actually make it when you order, not before. Not fast food in the least. They have plenty of vegetarian options as well as meat-eating options and they always have a few quirky special items. I particularly love the catfish po-boy (not really a po boy because it is on a hamburger bun, but I digress) and the black bean burger is also very tasty. Their onion rings are the best, hands-down, ever. EVER. Order a SIDE not a BASKET because the side is so much you have to share anyway. Their fries are also good, I have only had the plain kind, and the sweet potato fries are excellent. But, what makes the sides is the DIPPING SAUCES. Must get dipping sauces. Tons of unique combinations like toasted marshmallow, garlic aoli (maybe my favorite!) and some kind of spicy ranch dressing. Perfect with the fries, so I tend to order plain fries just to sop up the sauces. This food is SUPER heavy. I mean, as soon as I leave I regret having eaten it, but when it is in my mouth it is so worth the consequences of feeling like a whale for the rest of the day. Also, if you don't like loud bar-like environments, you had better come during off hours (like 3 PM on a weekday) or order your food to-go (although you will still have to wait while they prepare it.) Also, probably not a good idea to bring your kids during peak hours due to space limitations.

Fn love the roasted marshmallow sauce. I dip everything in that stuff. Next fave is the jalapeño ranch. Yummy! The beer is always good. The staff is very good looking. If you're bored on a Monday night, this is the place to go.

Food was delicious! First time here, we're from KC, we will definitely come out just to enjoy these burgers! Jalapeño ranch and roasted garlic Parmesan aioli were both great sauces. Cajun fries were amazing!

It's 5 stars for the burgers. It's still awesome. The burgers are still incredible but it's the little things that have me a bit nervous. No more fried egg on burger - it was never on menu but I always ordered it. I guess I was the only one that ordered it! ha ha. Minor...not gonna drop a star for that but... The Marshmallow sauce for the sweet potato fries - very runny. Not the thick stuff they originally had. I get it - the runny stuff is probably better for you but who in the world gets marshmallow sauce thinking about health??? Adding more to the menu - hot dogs, chicken, tofu - I get it. Expand the menu a bit...throw some variety down. But this is a burger place. An awesome burger place. And their other stuff pales in comparison to their burgers. Having said all of that -- the Smoke Burger is the one to get. The Kobe has an incredible taste but comes in a bit pricey. Fries - cajun fries, onion rings, truffle - all homeruns. DO NOT WASTE A FRY ORDER ON THE REGULAR FRIES. That's just crazy. Try the others.

Come here for the Bloody Mary. So many selections to add in the drink. Of course bacon ad in is a must. One of the only places that has poutine on the menu. Love it.

Yelp scores again! While looking for burger joints on my way from Kansas City to Denver (!), I found this one ranked highly along the way. Awesome find. I had the provolone chicken (breaded chicken patty topped with applewood smoked ham, provolone cheese and a sweet/spicy mustard). Mouth-watering and delicious. Massive bonus points for having a fresh, chewy bun. I also enjoyed the truffle fries. And... I washed all this down with a Schlafly pumpkin beer. (So amazing was this, I had to stop by the actual brewery to pick up a pair of six packs to take home.) Super bonus: I was there on the Sunday before Halloween and the crew announced over the loudspeaker, "Parental advisory: Five minutes until zombie attack!" In five minutes, they switched the TV over to "The Walking Dead." How cool is that? If I'm ever in Topeka again (God help me), I would gladly return.

The burgers are pretty good. The specialty drinks made by one particular girl are pretty weak. An orange slice garnish apparently equals a whole glass of mashed oranges.

Rolled into Topeka by late afternoon and had a hankerin' for a fulfilling dinner. I tried the smoke burger with truffle fries. The smoke burger was delicious, but the truffle fries were overpowered by the parmesan cheese and salt. I could not finish it. They have a variety of sauces that are self-serve. The chipotle ketchup was my favorite sauce to dip in my burger and the roasted marshmallow sauce and the greenish sauce (don't remember what it was called) was my favorite for the fries. Buuurp!

We came here for dinner. As usual the dinner was fantastic. However, we ordered milk shakes after dinner. We ordered at 8:03, and by 8:23 we didn't have them yet. We went and asked and were told that there would be just a few more minutes. By 8:43 we had milkshakes in hand, but they were really just flavored milk. When we went to ask about it, we got a response along the lines of "we had lots of orders" The service was sub par and I was not impressed. I enjoy the atmosphere, and will probably be back with friends, but I will definitely chose other establishments if it is my choice.

Kobe burger was Best burger ever eaten away from home. Cook serves it perfectly. This place is a gem hidden away in south Topeka. Choc Shake was also amazing-they use special milk from a local dairy... Just to die for. Had one in, ordered another for the road! WORTH going out of the way for!

I've been to the Burger Stand in Lawrence a few times, so when I was in Topeka last weekend I had to stop for a Saturday lunch - and I was not disappointed. It's located near the Washburn campus and features a larger restaurant area and outdoor seating, and best of all - a game room in the back! The place was busy, but a very friendly and helpful worker cleared a table for us, and we enjoyed some burger goodness. I ordered the smoke burger, which has the awesome chipotle cocoa ketchup on it, and a basket of fries. Of course, we had to get a bunch of sauces to try as well. Positives: -Awesome, awesome burgers. Between this and Blanc, the KC/Lawrence/Topeka area has two great choices for gourmet burgers. -French fries are cooked perfectly and there are plenty of interesting sauces to try them with. -Great service. This is a place where you order your food at the bar, then sit down and wait for them to call your name. No waiter service, but the person who took my order, the cook, and the guy cleaning tables were all very friendly and helpful. -Nice location and large seating area. The one knock against the Lawrence location is that it is rather small and fills up very fast. This one definitely has much more seating, which is good considering how popular it is. Negatives: -Not much to complain about here, some of the parking is bit odd. We parked right on the main street, which has diagonal parking. It makes it a little tough, as you could be backing right out into oncoming traffic. A very small gripe though. This place and Blanc are probably my 2 favorite burger places of all time...I can only hope they put one in the KC metro area soon!

Anyone who says this place is overrated is trippin. Staff is friendly but not over bearing, foods good and the place has a cool environment. I never want my burger to be over.

  • Tony B.

Good service, but the food is so-so! I found the burgers too be overpriced and very bland! However, you do get a big burger! I mean a really big burger! The atmosphere is a fun college atmosphere, and they have a excellent alcohol selection. The downside to this is it's located in a scummy part of town ( Even for Topeka). I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here!

    (3)
  • Eddie V.

The drinks are not too over priced. Thats about it. The food is super greasy and all tastes like old truffle oil. Some of the bar staff thinks they are just too hip. The "regulars" want so bad to be pretentious. Apart from that, I have been to karaoke once and it seemed to be a decently fun atmosphere.

Visiting Topeka for a week, and everyone said that I have to experience The Burger Stand. So I experienced it today, and I was not impressed at all. I ordered the American Kobe Classic and a side of Duck Fat fries. If you dare borrowed the Japanese word for awesome beef, you better back that burger up. They didn't, it was dried. Zero Juiciness. Also, why would a restaurant have a chart explaining how pink a burger is but they won't even follow it?? I wanted some pink in my burger, guess what I got? Gray. Gray? Now that is the color of frozen patties right there. The duck fat fries were great though. (reason for the 2 stars) I paid $14 for this, and it will be the last time. Guess what? Wendy's Pretzel Bun burger was better. OHHHH! It is a really sad burger restaurant. You can feel the pretentious air the minute you walk through that door. That is all fine, but back it up! My friend had a dried and grayed burger as well. My other friend ordered a Chicago Dog and Tofu fries for $10!!!!!! Are we actually in Chicago? Just because you named it "Chicago Dog" doesn't give you the right to charge Chicago price. And please, don't let any other reviewers fool you, the long wait is not worth it.

While in Topeka for business, the hotel staff recommended The Burger Stand as one of the best places in Topeka for dinner. I would find it hard to disagree! It is a real casual place - you order and pay for your meal at the bar, then you pick up your order when your name is called. They have a lot of burger options and the staff offered great suggestions. I asked about their local beers on tap, and they proceeded to (I branched out with an oatmeal stout), the bartender recommended the Smoky Burger because he thought the smoky, spicy flavors would complement the sweeter beer. I went with the Smoky and it really was a great combination. The burger is huge and they give you lots of fries - I only ate about half of the fries. The burgers are piled high, so don't go here if you're at a business lunch or looking to impress someone - you will not eat neatly here. They have a selection of really good house-made ketchup and dipping sauces. My favorite were the jalapeno ranch, chipotle ketchup and parmesan aioli. This place definitely takes "burgers and fries" to a new level!

    (5)
  • John R.

OH MY these are good gourmet burgers! I love the truffle fries, but for something sweeter you have to try the sweet potato fries with the roasted marshmallow dipping sauce...heavenly!

    (5)
  • Terri W.

Food was delicious! Portions were large and prices were reasonable. I wish they had regular ranch instead of jalapeño ranch, but there were several other self serve unique sauces. Food was prepared quickly. My only complaint is that the bathroom was dirty, and the place had just opened.

  • Ty A.

The burgers are quite simply amazing with the "Smoke" being my personal favorite. The assortment of french fries are quite good as well I am split between the Poutine, Burbon Bacon Cheese Fries, and the Sweet Potato Fries all being equaly amazing. They have good selection of craft beers... by no means the largest but very passable for their menu. I greatly enjoy the assortment of sauces they offer. An more often than not the monthly specials are fun and delecious offerings more than worth taking a trip away from your normal order. The price point is maybe a shade to high and service and quality can suffer when they get an unexpected rush and are a bit short staffed. I would also like to see a bit more in the way of chicken sandwich offerings to balance out the menu. Yet overall this is a great place to enjoy a meal and with the ping-pong bar/pool hall in the back it makes for a nice night out with your friends as well.

This is the place to go if you want burgers that go beyond the ordinary stuff you get in chain restaurants. I had the Black & Blue along with Sweet Potato fries. The burger was excellent, with an interesting flavor profile and fries were good too, so I will be back to try some more burgers off their menu before I head back.

  • Nikki H.

Best burger ever! I went in for lunch today and had the Classic with a side of Cajun fries. Despite arriving right in the middle of the lunch hour, everything came out quick. The burger was cooked perfectly (medium) and was so savory, with fresh microgreens! They have a really interesting combination of menu items that are inventive! There is also a condiment bar that is awesome, with Chiptole Ketchup and Parmesan Garlic Aioli. The staff was very nice too, by checking in on customers and cleaning up around the restaurant. I wish I was in Topeka more often, because this place is amazing!

This restaurant is an amazing breath of fresh air in Topeka. Ok - sure - it is a burger joint. But it is surely one of the best burger joints in the Midwest. Their origins are from Lawrence and from the gourmet world. But Robert and Molly Krause have opened up a gourmet version of a restaurant in Topeka. And everyone should be going. This was my second visit to The Burger Stand. And each and every time I come back to Kansas, I will be sure to visit. This visit, we had the Black and Blue Burger - an thick medium are burger, loaded with creamy blue cheese. We tried the Smoke burger - with great smoked bacon and all the fixing. While the burgers are good - they also have taken the time to master French fries. You can try the regular or the duck fat fries, but my suggestions are the sweet potato fries - and the truffle fries. They have learned either a double or triple cooking method - and so you get fluffy - yet crunch and perfectly done fries. You can order a "side" for only $2 or a basket for slightly more. Your body tells you that you should not each them all - but trust me, you won't be able to help yourself. They have a great selection of local and national beers. They are branching out to hot dogs and more pub style food. It is a great place, and one of the best places in Topeka for quality food.

Burger stand is a great little restaurant close to Washburn with a great selection of burgers, dogs and veggie options along with a full bar, and good craft beer selections. They lose points for 1) only cooking to medium or more done and 2) making you pick up the food yourself. I had their classic with microgreens, onion and tomato. Perfectly cooked, but I would have preferred a bit of a crust/char on the burger. Roll was good but I prefer one with a bit more tooth. Very nice selection of condiments other than the normal ketchup or mustard. Well worth returning to.

I was really excited when this place opened. After dining here a hand full of times I'm still searching for something better. It's good but not great. First off I believe every burger should have brisket or short rib in the mix. Maybe that's just me though. the sides are very good and the choice of sauces are numerous. I just feel like the burgers are bland and dry. I order mine med rare and it is always grey not pink. I don't believe there is enough fat content to keep moist. Toppings are good. I have ordered the Fire Burger twice and have been disappointed. Fire to me means hot but there is not a hint of heat in this burger. Maybe they cater to the masses but I don't think the ingredients should mention habenero if not hot. The place itself is pretty cool. They have a huge area in the back with games and a bar. The front is nice and has TV's for any game. They also have a nice patio area.

I love this place! My boyfriend and I come here often to have a tasty and new experience with the burgers, hot dogs and fries! I love the selection for everything on the menu; I have yet to get something that I didn't like at all. I will say that every time we go, we have to share a side of truffle fries. SOOOO GOOD. :) I'm not sure how many people are willing to try the beer battered corn dog at a burger stand, but I honestly urge everyone to give this thing a try -- With their amazing mustard. It's definitely one of my favorites on the menu also. I can't really say enough about this establishment - the environment is laid back, music is good (I'm usually hearing classic rock in there, which I love), the staff is very accommodating and nice every time we are there. And most importantly, the food is great! This place is worth the money that you'll spend on your meal and/or drinks, and I am SO glad that Topeka finally has a nice burger joint like this one.

Hamburgers are to die for! Meat is a mix of skirt steak, rib-eye and some type of filet. Each of my coworkers tried out 4 different sandwiches and 4 different types of fries and sampled the 6 varieties of sauces. Ketchup was not Heinz. All of us loved our huge burgers and the fries were up for grabs! The group's favorite were the truffle fries but I loved the bourbon cheddar bacon fries. Prices are pretty reasonable considering its a 1/3 lb. burger. This place would rock Chicago! I am definitely making pit stops to College Hill's Burger Stand and Boca Cafe the next time I am in Topeka!.

The Burger Stand seems to be part of a recent trend of burger joints that go beyond the stereotype that a burger has to be just another boring ketchup lettuce tomato burger, and instead offer up more gourmet twists on the classic American sandwich. One thing about them is that while they do have a set menu they are constantly offering up new and unique creations, like burgers with mixed greens and peach relish. The atmosphere has the place of a wide open college tavern, and it feels very welcoming. Often when I go it has been busy but the staff do an excellent job getting orders through. The two burgers I recomend trying is the Smoke burger, which is their spin on the classic Bacon Cheeseburger. For one thing, the bacon is THICK!, It had that beautiful hunk of smoked bacon fat dripping off the end. To complement this, was their own chipotle cocoa ketchup which I know sounds crazy but it definately added a great almost coffee like smokiness to the burger. The other I one I recommend is their black and blue burger, which comes with an apple chutney and bleu cheese. Very different, but very delicious. All in all, The Burger Stand is a very welcome addition to Topeka, and offers a very nice breath of fresh air onto a classic burger.

I am a big fan of the Stand in Lawrence so I felt good about going in today and getting a burger fix. I was left eating an unseasoned patty that looked too perfect and "possibly" frozen...can't confirm. Truffle fries saved the experience however some of the dipping sauces seemed runny like they were trying to stretch the product. The sauces should stick to the fries not run off of it.

This place is amazing! Kobe burger is fantastic and the truffle fries are outrageously good! The unique selection of sauces they have is fun and very good on the burgers and fries. The cereal milk milkshake is such a terrific idea and the cereal infused milk changes weekly......hopefully next time we get to go it will be something awesome! I live about an hour from Topeka and while I loved everything about this place, I am actually glad to not have one close to me:) or I may be 500 lbs!

We stopped here on road trip after a week of some great and not so great meals. We wanted something pretty quick and fresh ... not greasy. The Burger Stand delivered. Great menu offering a variety of choices for adventurous and picky eaters in our family, including a kids menu that satisfied our three young kids. We had the Greek, Classic, and Smoke burgers, which were all great, "real" food, not greasy, and fresh. We also had a basket of the truffle fries, which were a treat with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on. The kids had a cheeseburger, grilled cheese, and hot dog, which they all gave a thumbs up. Prices were good on the kids selections as well between $3 and $4, but not including drinks. Our kids had water. Good selection of regional craft beer. Fun variety of unique sauces to try with fries, etc. We liked the Chipotle Cocoa ketchup a lot. Nice tables with plenty of room for a large family. There were many other families with small kids there too ... Really a good mix of ages was there for the dinner crowd. You order at the counter and pick up your food when they call your name. Quick and friendly service. Just what we needed and were looking for. Nice restrooms too. We would come here again if back in Topeka.

Burger order was to be medium WELL, not rare. The replacement took a long time. Had to take it to go. The Putine, traditionally made with cheese curds, not slices, was okay, not great, and not exactly what I was looking for. The fried pickles were good. Subsequent visits with friends have rendered several wrong orders. They could do better, attention to details would help them a lot.

Best sweet potato fries we've had! Truffle fries are very yummy too. Our burgers were cooked perfectly and the gourmet sauces are terrific - We'll be back!

I got the Black & Bleu Burger which was served with an apple chutney spread. The fruity spread melded delightfully with the potent flavor of the cheese. The burger itself was still nice and juicy, and my sweet potato fries were delicious. They do shake sugar on their sweet potato fries, which I'm normally not a fan of; but they kept it light and I was pleasantly surprised. They also have a variety of dipping/spreading sauces that are really tasty. I shall return!

This is one of those places in Topeka where I'm like, "This is in TOPEKA?!" I'll try to refrain from my distaste for my state's capital, but really, the cuisine in this town is less than sophisticated. But I dropped in before I came back to Kansas City. It's a bar-like atmosphere, with the wood floors, and all that. Service was efficient, and the menu is bigger than some of our gourmet burger joints like Blanc here in Kansas City. I tried the Black and Bleu burger, which had apples and bleu cheese. Delicious. The only drawback was that part of the bottom bun couldn't hold the juice, and part of it became soggy (I really find that gross, for some reason). But the burger itself was cooked medium to medium well -- a little more done than I prefer even though I ordered it to medium. The flavors, though, were so good that it didn't matter a whole lot. It was still juicy. I also ordered the truffle fries. They were delicious, although I didn't finish them (or the burger) because of their richness.

This place is amazing. As good as the original in Lawrence. I go here at least once a month and almost always order the hand-dipped corn dog with a side of truffle fries. Not only is the corn dog cheap, but it is absolutely delicious. Very meaty with a sweet yet salty batter. Try dipping the truffle fries in their parmesan sauce.

Just opened up in Topeka, and raises the culinary level significantly. Amazing burgers. I especially love the smoke, which comes with bacon and gouda. Make sure you ask what medium means to them; it means warm pink all the way through, and that is how they cook it standard. You have to ask if you want it more or less done. A great selection of beers, and a cool ping pong bar in the back. Not dirt cheap, but about $10 for a great burger, fries, and a soda. They have like 8 different kind of fries, including poutines (smothered in gravy and cheese curds), duck fat fries, and my favorite: Truffle fries. Try the truffle fries, they are amazing.

This spot has a diverse menu approaching hipster gourmet. I've not had anything there that I've disliked, including their occasional specials like stir fry and smores ice cream. All of their burgers are delicious and have great toppings, even if they sound a little strange (apple chutney, chipotle-cactus jam). Most everything comes in large portions and eating just the burger can be filling enough. The hotdogs/corn dogs are similarly large and will not disappoint. High marks for the various types of fries and fried pickles. Diverse beer selection and nice entertainment in the back bar, like ping pong and pool.

I tried to get a gift card or certificate for my sister-in-law here for Christmas. I called twice...the first time the guy who answered didn't know if this could be done and said a) call back tomorrow and ask for Elaine and b)he'd call Elaine that evening and try to find out for me. Never got a call back from the guy OR Elaine. Tried to call again...Elaine answered and said she didn't know if this could be done over the phone. I explained I've done it with other restaurants as a gift in the past (she mentioned not be able to card me but I've never been carded to pay a tab before). She promised to ask a higher up and call me back before the restaurant closed. Well here we are several hours later and I never got a call back. In the meantime I tried to call elsewhere and everywhere is closed...my bad for procrastinating. Their bad for being unprofessional and not knowing how things run and how to call a customer back. Good thing the BLIND TIGER came through...I'll suggest going there instead!!!
