Terry's is a great lunch spot. I go there often. The burgers are inexpensive and quite good. Everything I've had here is good (though I generally get a cheeseburger). This is inexpensive, no-frills bar food that tastes great. The wait staff are attentive and personable. As alluded to in the previous review, those in the know in Topeka eat at Terry's for lunch.

I have been here several times because a friend loves it. We usually go for someone's birthday. It's a great bar if you just want to sit down, relax, and talk. It is definitely no-frills. It doesn't play loud music (unless you play some) and it doesn't have loud sports tvs. I remember the drinks being good. I dont think I ever tried the food. I would not hesitate to go back.

I really love the hamburgers here. There are also very good appetizers. We always have to have the fried mushrooms. My daughter loves the open-faced turkey sandwich. Soups are also good. Service is usually good. The only time we had an issue was when a large group showed up in the mid-afternoon.

Terry's is a great place, and a Topeka landmark for a reason. They have the best bar food in town! Wonderful open faced roast beef sandwhiches, and fantastic burgers. They do to go orders for people who want to take lunch back to work....they never forget to include ketchup and mustard packets!

Context is a huge factor here. First, the prices haven't changed since 1974. Second, it's in Topeka. Third, we ate here on a Monday night after Yelp produced only 7 open restaurants to choose from - and three of those were Domino's. The good: Genuine middle America atmosphere. Locals only. CHEAP! Friendly service. Good locally brewed drafts for $2.25. The meh: the recommended open face turkey sandwich ($5) was very salty. Sliced deli meat folded on two pieces of white bread covered in a scoop of mashed potatoes and half a gallon of brown gravy. Some roasted breast straight off the bird would have added a star to this review. The spinach artichoke dip ($5.50) was palatable. The local grocery probably has a similar dip for $1.59. And, if you are trying to watch your carbs, run away now. There is not a single item that is carb friendly. I know, it's a bar and I'm worried about carbs? Well, yeah, we do that in Dallas.

Yu-um! I stayed in Topeka for a night on a cross country trip and this place saved me. I was getting pretty worn out from the drive and a nice room at the Best Western & a delicious steak from Terry's totally revived me. Prices - amazing. Staff - super friendly. I called up and told Brad what I liked and he basically ordered for me. The bar was pretty empty when I got there, but what can you expect on a Wednesday (or was it Tuesday... Thursday?) evening? Oh and they were playing good music. I will definitely come back whenever I come back to Topeka. And after what I saw when I was there, it will definitely be soon.

Yum! Seriously though, this is obviously a local place and I am happy to have dined here for lunch. The crowd consists of the every day diners and the visitors like me and my main squeeze. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful with the menu if needed. The hamburger with onion and pickles was a thick patty and full of flavor. I wasn't too fond of the bun. It fell apart quickly. On the side we had the bacon cheese seasoned fries with ranch on the side. The fries were seasoned well and every one was covered in cheese and bacon. Also, the draft beer was $2.25! Hello? That is crazy cheap. The restaurant itself was very clean, had a few TV's and a couple of pool tables too. With the friendly staff, excellent hamburgers and cheap beer I will go back when I'm in Topeka again.

There aren't many options in this downtown on a Sunday evening. We had just finished a recording session down the street at the cathedral and were ready for something substantial. This was all that we could find after checking out some other recommendations ( all closed). That being said we ordered a variety of things from the menu. All inexpensive, all brought quickly! The food was hot, properly cooked, and really very good. I had the chicken fried steak and was very happy with it. Another in my party had a very good party melt. This is probably not a place I would have went to except for a beer, but the food was quite good too. I would return!

This is a classic dive lounge/bar. The food is pretty darn good for the price. I got take out, 6 angus burgers (bigger than their regular patties). The burgers looked to be formed using a device instead of by hand. Thankfully they were still tender and seasoned well. They only thing missing was a little bit of caramelization, which I really like. I tried the waffle fries, regular fries, and onion rings... all of which are sides available with the burger. They were out of seasoned fries, but they usually have those as well. I liked the waffle fries the best. Slightly seasoned and crispy and delicioius. The take-out was handled very well. If I lived in Topeka I could see myself here for a burger and a beer from time to time, no doubt!

I'm partial to this joint since it's in my neighborhood, it's been here forever and it's locally owned. I've been here many times over the years and never had bad food, bad beer or bad service. A memorable visit was on Christmas Eve. We took a break from the wrapping and food prep to grab a bite to eat. Score 1 for Terry's - they kept their kitchen open when everywhere else in town was closing down! We were served quickly, and the food (burgers and fries - my favorite) was absolutely delicious. And the price was extremely reasonable too. (Score 2!) Last comment has to be on the atmosphere. Yeah, it was dark, but it didn't feel like a dingy dive bar. It was neatly (as with care) decorated for the holiday and the TVs strategically placed around the walls were tuned into a game of some sort but not up so loud you couldn't have a conversation over them. Family friendly, pleasant and cozy. (Score 3!) I've taken my mom here on Saturday afternoons and my husband and I walk here for dinner or a date, occasionally. One of these nights we are going to try the $10, 10-oz steak dinner... Every visit has offered great food, and fantastic service. This establishment is really a hidden Topeka gem. I definitely recommend this establishment. If you're in the area for lunch or dinner, it's good food served by good locals. (Support 'em!) And give the fried mushrooms a try. they're wonderful.

Definitely a local place with good pub food. The regulars discussed Duck Dynasty while I watched the Royals play the Indians on one of several TVs. It's much larger than it appears from the outside and has pool tables as well.

By 'bar food' standards, our meal was quite good. There aren't a lot of other choices in downtown Topeka. The $3 basket of waffle fries was large and tasty. The grilled chicken sandwiches were nothing special but perfectly acceptable. That seemed to be everyone's impression: this is good, solid execution of old standards from bar kitchens. Prices were VERY low: 5 entrees, 1 salad, and 3 soft drinks were just $35. The room was dark, the music wasn't too loud, no tobacco smoke was apparent, and the pool table crowd wasn't too rowdy. The kids were comfortable and felt welcome.

Mid-way through my meal I heard a guy say, "I've been going here for 30 years!" That should be enough for you to try this place out. It's a very down to earth sports bar with friendly staff and inexpensive grub. Seriously, an appetizer and two entrees totaled $20 even. I'll be honest, the food didn't wow me. It's average food, but definitely hits the spot. The restaurant is very spacious, clean, and well maintained. You can also find pool tables if you like billiards and a good amount of TVs for sports.

When the best thing I can say about my burger is that the tomato slice was good, it's not a good burger. Cold squishy bun, tasteless frozen patty. Reminded me of a grade school cafeteria selection. Nice clean bar, friendly and efficient server but only drink, do not eat. And they buy their pork tenderloins already prepped, a travesty!

Driving through Topeka, Terry is an amazing little stop. Great Burger and Poppers, pool tables and nice bar feel with TVs. And the prices are very reasonable. Love it.
