Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I felt the need to review this because I for one still come here quite often, but it's now a place I introduce to my friends. I grab lunch or dinner here. I love their ice cream still, the best chocolate ice cream in town, but right now our favorite flavor is birthday cake Ice cream :). The pine nut ice cream is good too and I it sounds weird but it's not just try it, the cheese ones basically taste like cheesecake, the strawberry and cheese one is delish! The Strawberry is good, coconut and cookies and cream is good, the water based ones are also good, pineapple, strawberry, mango. I've had escamocha which is a cream and fruit dessert type thing and it's really good but really rich and sweet. mangoneada is good made w/ the mango ice cream and spiciness on top. I've had the fresh juices and I just love everything let's get to the food. I get the chicken quesadilla all the time and it's so fresh tasting and the chicken is good and the flavors are awesome and it's so filling, today I tried the Torta pollo adobado, which is a chicken sandwich w/ their homemade adobo sauce on it, oh it was good good, not spicy like hot spicy but flavorful and it comes w/ this grilled jalapeño and it's so yummy together . the nachos are just normal. I think I'll try the empanadas next, I've had the tacos as well, they're good but expensive and not filling. the only thing I didn't like from here is this pork skin thing I got, I see people eating it all the time and I wanted to try it but I just couldn't eat it. it was not that flavorful and it was bland. Service here is always great and the place is clean....I'm always coming back and bring friends :)

This is a very cool addition to the Santa Fe corridor in Olathe. Numerous ice cream and other frozen treats are here to tempt the visitor. When my sister and I visited on a warm weekend afternoon, many of the tables were occupied. I ordered the TNT shaved ice drink, which featured tamarind and chiles. I know that tamarind is a popular flavoring for Mexican candy, and I thought I would enjoy it. Sadly, I didn't. It was salty, sour and spicy, and the combination didn't work for me. It wasn't refreshing, though I don't blame them for my ordering choice. Based on what I could see from the customers enjoying their selections, this is a place I will come back to and order something a little more in line with what I know I will like. Counter service was very friendly and speedy.

These places are not easy to come by. Enjoy it!!!! I like the paletas, the Hubster loves the cocktel de frutas. The churros are made fresh and are very good! Come practice your Espanol!

This place is great even for just ice cream. But they have lots of other desserts like fruit with sweetened condensed milk, and funnel cake, and churros. They also have meals, but we come for the desserts and love it!

I've noticed the new green awning since last fall. I thought what a crazy time of year to open an ice cream/yogurt/sno cone/whatever kind of cold deliciousness this was. Well a couple weeks ago as I drove by the place was packed. In early February. That got my attention. Since my wife loves ice cream we stopped in yesterday afternoon. She was very happy we did. Tropicana serves ice cream, fruit juice bars, cream based fruit bars, desserts like banana splits to funnel cake, churros and tropichurros ( a split churro with fruit inside. If you are looking for a meal (have not tried any yet) they have Tortas, Tamales, Burritos, Empanadas, Flautas . . . you get the idea. They also have "Natural Made Juices" that looked good. We went for ice cream and will make another trip to try these other options. How was the ice cream? Well my wife thought it was GREAT! She had rum raisin and creme leche (excuse my spelling) or caramel. I opted for the cafe (coffee) ice cream. Tasty. The interior looks professionally done. Colors and displays look very nice even though they are menu items on silver background. It works. My assumption initially was we were in a franchise ice cream shop. I'm not so sure. We will be back, it is a GREAT addition to Olathe!

I was so excited to find out we had a Tropicana in Olathe. My boyfriend loves to come here for the fruit cocktail. The fruits were little different here but it maybe have just been due to the season. He also got the elote and it was ok. My kids got ice cream and it was so good! It was much better than I had expected. We usually just come for dessert so we haven't tried any of the food yet but it looks really good!

Came here after my lunch as I was craving for dessert (i always crave desserts.. who am I kidding?) and I wanted to try their cocktels de fruta which is perfect for this hot and sunny day. Service: it was good, BUT there was only ONE person working the front during lunch hour so it took about 15 minutes until I ordered and paid. I'm guessing someone didn't show up? Hm, whatever. Food: ordered the cocktel de fruta which is basically cut "sticks" of various fruits including jicama, cucumbers, mangos, pineapples and canteloupe. I asked for it to be fully loaded, which they add lime juice, tijin pepper seasoning and a touch of salt. it is absolutely delicious and so refreshing! I will definitely be back as I still would love to try the elotes and the churros.

One of those places that you'll drive by several times before giving it a try. Once you do, it won't be the last time. They have a great selection of fruit smoothies, fruit juices, flavored waters (unreal in taste - try the strawberry!) and ethnic desserts that you will not find anywhere else. It's not a place where you go for lunch or dinner necessarily but when you're looking for something refreshing in-between especially on a hot day. The only negative is the lines can get a little long and service is not the fastest.
