I have driven by this place many times, and thought that it was a little iffy from the outside appearance. Boy was I wrong! After walking in through the doors you are transported into a classy, yet modern atmosphere. I'm glad I was craving sushi that night, and we got one of their specials (the Holiday Bowl) and everything was delish! My boyfriend was craving sake himself, and we went for the NiGoRi which was fabulous. Not only did we get sake, but the special came with edamame for an app. then finished the meal with strawberry mochi. We had a full on meal for less than 60 dollars! This is of course before tip. Since moving, I have found a new sushi place for sure.

Stopped in and had a delightful lunch. I'll wager everything is as good as the avocado salad, Foxy Lady special roll, and strawberry mochi I had. Perfection.

This place is horrible!!!!!!!!!!! The only reason I thought about stopping by it's because it's fusion style. I grew up surrounded with Sushi restaurants and I know how sushi suppose to taste like. *I ordered a sushi roll wrapped with soy paper that includes variety of fish but with a dull discoloration and it's mushy like a paste. Not fresh at all. * My seared white tuna appetizer wasn't seared and served in a very small portion of 6 tiny thin slices topped with an orange sauce that was way too sweet. The most interesting part was a BUG landed on my plate and slowly making its way to match it's acquire taste. As I carefully examined, the bug seems to travel around my plate and suddenly started to feed on the orange sauce. I guess I'm sharing my food with the little bug that decided to keep me company for lunch. LOL At least my food didn't go to waste. lol *Jalapeno yellow tail was very fishy and not fresh at all. The best part of this dish was the tiny pieces of Jalapenos that I ate after to covered the fishy taste. I strongly advice you spend your money else where. It's a ripped off when everything came in a small portion and nothing is fresh.

This place has extremely high quality ingredients and the difference is absolutely in the taste. The sushi rolls really showcase a higher quality of fish used by the restaurant that you just don't see very often in Kansas or any other land-locked state. The service is always very nice and friendly and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Everything from the high quality wooden chopsticks to the usage of the most tender baby ginger varieties adds to an experience that is plainly a step above the competitors in the area. This is the kind of restaurant that a sushi lover like myself NEEDS to see succeed.

Best sushi and service we've found in Olathe..my husband tried it last night while I was at work and he liked it so much that he was cool with coming back a second night in a row so that I could try it-he said it was that good. And it was.

Sake has a wonderful ambiance and the sushi is one of the best in the KC area, and I go out to sushi all over the metro area. The ingredients are fresh and put together that blends together so well; it isn't doused in sauces to cover the flavor of the sushi, which is very nice. I frequent Sake to sit in the restaurant as well as getting take-out. Even when you come in for take out, they really show they care about you. They host/hostess (or even the owner) will get you ice water while you wait. The service is impeccable. Everyone that works there seem so happy to be there for their customers. They have really made this restaurant the nicest, upscale sushi place in the area.

Jamie and I swung by this place after seeing a movie (a great one, The Way, Way Back), based on a recommendation (for the sushi joint) from her daughter, Allison, last night. The sushi was fresh, the rolls were creative, and the value was solid, at $19 for all you can eat rolls, including miso soup and the meh salad bar. They don't have their liquor license yet, so you may be able to BYO (saw no signs of that tonight). The inside space is enormous, and they have broken it up into several different venues, with the end result s little clunky architecturally. The sushi and the value will bring us back from time to time- worth a visit, for sure.

I really enjoy coming out to have their sushi! Very fresh ingredients and very tasty! I love the set up and the presentation and the atmosphere! It really is a good hangout place for family and friends! I recommend more sushi lovers to check this place out! I will be back!

We came to celebrate our anniversary and decided to try out their happy hour menu. I've been wanting to come here for a long time now so I was pretty excited. We started by ordering Boulevard Wheat ($2! Can't beat that!) and a bottle of the Plum Sake. The sake was great. Our awesome waitress even gave us an ice bucket to keep it chilled in. We ordered the Kani salad, Wildcat roll, Sunny roll (my favorite of what we ordered), volcano roll, spicy crab, and the spicy salmon roll. They all tasted good, but we probably could've done without the spicy crab roll and spicy salmon roll. The wildcat roll was probably my least favorite. We were starving so we may have gone a little crazy with our order. It's great that we were able to save the rest of the bottle there for our next visit. I totally think the happy hour is definitely worth it! Our bill came out to around $65 including the $26 bottle of sake. Can't wait to come back!

Tonight was the 3rd time I've been to this place since relocating to the area from Northern California and I'll never go back because the service has been so slow each time. The sushi / food is very good but it's just not worth waiting over an hour to get your food and nobody comes by to provide an update or ask if you want more drinks. Seriously they just need to hire some more chefs, a bartender who knows what a lemon drop martini is, and a wait staff with better customer service skills.

The food was average and I would have given it 3 stars but the service was poor. It took 20 minutes for the soup (!) to be served. My dish was brought out at least 5 minutes before my husband's, and was not exactly what I had ordered. My cocktail and water glass were empty long before the end of the meal. A server from a different section offered me a water refill finally, but all I wanted was the check.

Went here for an early dinner before a movie. The food was good, the atmosphere is great and everything is so nice. When we went they had really nice chopsticks (not just the paper wrapped, wooden ones.) We'd definitely go back before our next movie.

The wife and I stumbled across this place on our way to see Godzilla, and decided to check it out.. have to say this place rocks hardcore!! from the inventive new rolls, to the amazing presentation .. we thoroughly enjoyed going here, so much so we have been back three times since and each time has been the same great quality. we've sat on the bar side and on the regular side, they seem to be trying to go the same way as some of the other "town center' sushi places because they had a DJ one time in the bar.. but have to say the quality and ability to communicate over dinner are much better here.. one time we ordered just a couple of rolls and some singles and got "the big boat" presentation .. WOW .. never got the boat before ..LOL and love the led lights in with our fish .. some of the decor really lends to that .. "umm I'm really in Japan cause that makes no sense", feel .. which is also cool don't get me wrong.. have to say this place has rescued Sushi in Kansas for us..

I ordered take out the other day, I had my 15 month old with me and he was already over tired so I figured taking food home would be best. I called and placed my order, the lady was very friendly & helpful. She told me 15-20 minutes, I got there at about 20 minutes. Once inside I noticed there was no one there at lunch time. I waited about 3 minutes before someone helped me, Megan came up and took my name & went to the back to get my order. She was very quick, she told me they were just waiting on my house salad. Alex a waiter was cleaning a table near by and noticed my son watching him, he waved his to him and then he went to the back. He came out a few seconds later with a little car for my son, it was really nice since I was still waiting for my salad & my son was getting really restless. Other than having to wait an extra 10 minutes for a salad everything was good. The waitstaff was really nice and friendly towards my little one, we will be back again! I'll just give them a few extra minutes on there wait time.

Sake Lounge is a restaurant that I've wanted to try since it's grand opening in Olathe, KS. Nearby where I live, I thought finally, a sushi restaurant that could be somewhat decent. In the year and a half that I've been a resident in the KC area, the best sushi places I've had have been 10+ miles away. Literally down the road from where I live and work, I thought that I'd give this place a try for lunch. Let's first talk about the decor. The ambiance is great, it definitely gives out a cool vibe; I mean after all, it is a lounge as well. This looks like a place you could do a nice birthday dinner at while having a few drinks before heading out. Now let's get on to the important piece, the food. Mondays are always the toughest day to choose what to eat for lunch. Getting off of eating good over the weekend and a late flight in the night before, I didn't have the time to pack a lunch. After browsing several restaurant locales, the co-worker/roomie and I finally decided on Sake Lounge partly due to the fact that this is where I want to have my birthday dinner this month, and I've got to try before I buy right? The prices for lunch specials are pretty fair, $7-$10 for a bento box or set lunch, and the sushi prices aren't bad either. The co-worker and I opted for the 2 rolls for $8 special and chose the Honey Roll while I chose the Spicy Crunchy Crab Roll. The sushi rolls weren't bad, not the best I've had but worth it for the price. Now as for our lunch, the co-worker ordered the teriyaki chicken bento box and her chicken was not anything to be excited about. We are used to teriyaki chicken being grilled over a bed of rice with teriyaki sauce drizzled on top. The chicken looked like it was carved from a whole one (much like turkey during Thanksgiving), and it was only the white meat which made it very dry. If we wanted Boston Market style chicken, we wouldn't have gone to an Asian restaurant. I ordered the Basil Chicken and it wasn't bad except that it was a copycat version of if you would have ordered it from a Thai restaurant. The best part of the entire lunch was the free salad bar they provide during lunch. That Ginger dressing was to die for! Needless to say, Sake Lounge attempts to distinguish itself by being a "fusion" restaurant, incorporating Thai and Chinese dishes in to Japanese cuisine. If they could focus on one thing (the Japanese part) and find they're niche, this place has the potential to be a really great restaurant! Management is great because we gave them our honest opinion and so they gave us 10% off our entire lunch and also gave us a 10% off coupon to use for the next time, pending that there is a next time. I hope that Sake Lounge can survive the market down in the Johnson County area. I wish it luck!

I went there for lunch today for the first time and loved it! First impression? This restaurant is huge!! The deco is very elegant. I ordered the bento box - teriyaki chicken & it was just the right amount of food for a luncheon. The chicken was well seasoned & tossed in yummy teriyaki sauce, served with some white rice; two crab rangoons were crispy & cheesy (in a good way); and the California rolls were a nice touch. It was a pleasant surprise when I found out that the lunch special included the all-you-can-eat salad bar! My lunch with water was just a bit over $6 before tips since they had a special discount today. I'm not sure how long this special will last though. My friend ordered the sushi & sashimi lunch combo and it looked delicious so the next time I come back I will try that. And I will definitely come back!

Chef Sean is the best! We absolutely love Sake Lounge. My husband literately eats there every single day for lunch. They have great specials for lunch AND we were very excited to try their all you can eat sushi for only $18 last Saturday. Very friendly staff! Amazing food! Thanks Chef Sean for bringing the best sushi restaurant to olathe.

My wife and I ate there recently and the staff was kind and the food was great. I would have given it 5 stars, but the bar wasn't open and they served no alcohol. Can't call yourself the Sake Lounge when you have no sake to serve. They did say liquor license was coming soon though.

Very clean, EXCELLENT sushi rolls, and great atmosphere. I'm actually writing this review from the table of the restaurant! Izumi better watch out, Sake Lounge is really doing it right and has sushi every bit as good if not better. I just got a new favorite sushi restaurant, what a treat! It's across the parking lot from Old Chicago at 119th and Strang Line Rd. check it out if you like the best sushi, Thai and Chineese cuisine in one place. Two thumbs up from the wife and I!

My wife and I went to try all you can eat sushi for $18.95 on Sunday around 1:15pm. My wife loves sushi and I like 'not raw' sushi. I was so excited when I found out from the sake lounge website that they have a 'honey shrimp' roll and 'honey chicken' roll. We were seated right away since we were the only guests when we got there. My wife asked Maggie, the waitress, if they have all you can eat sushi. Then the waitress handed my wife 1 order form. So my wife filled out the form and we ordered 8 kinds of sushi, 4 of them on the list were my choice; spicy crunchy shrimp roll, shrimp tempura roll, honey chicken roll, honey shrimp roll. The other 4 were my wife's specialty rolls order. A few minutes later Maggie brought us 6 out of 8 sushi orders on a big tray. She explained to us what they were since we cannot recognize which one is which. Then Maggie said, "your honey shrimp roll and honey chicken roll will come later ok." We assumed the sushi chef was still making those. Then we ate and waited for my honey and chicken roll, they never came. We still have 7 pieces sushi left, then my wife asked Maggie where are our honey shrimp and honey chicken rolls. Maggie said "Oh, you have to finish these first" (pointed to the 7 pieces sushi left). My wife and I were confused. Then Maggie said "we will charge you 50 cents a piece, if you cannot finish your sushi" and she pointed to the bottom of the order form where it said so. Paying $3.50 extra was not an issue. The issue was when we ordered something but they never came, especially when we ordered our sushi in the same time in the same form. Instead of bringing my honey shrimp and honey chicken rolls, Maggie started asking my wife irrelevant question like "Have you had all you can eat sushi before?" Yes, my wife had it before several times in different places like in Dallas and Chicago. Usually when you are in all you can eat sushi restaurant, each customer gets 1 order form, you order whatever you want from the 'all u can eat' sushi list and you can reorder it again, using a different form after you finish your sushi. Of course restaurants operate their business differently. My suggestion is ALWAYS ask your customers ; have you been here before and if they choose 'all you can eat sushi', explain to them how it works. When I asked Maggie, so how do you know which ones are mine and which are my wife's order? She said "Oh, you use square and circle" At this point it was so pointless arguing with Maggie. Of course the hostess (possibly mgr) kept saying the same thing. When the hostess offered us 2 ten percent off coupons for future visits, we simply declined the offer. This restaurant needs to have some serious customer service training. I would rate 1 star for this restaurant due to poor customer service and my honey shrimp roll and honey chicken roll that never came, but credit to ginger dressing. I went ahead put 2 stars rating because my wife liked their 'iron man' sushi.

a good sushi bar in the land locked midwest. they were still waiting for their liquor license when we went and i always enjoy some nigori sake with my sushi. the price was reasonable and the rolls were very tasty. they were suprisingly dead but it was sunday night. the ambience was very nice with a attractive layout. I wish the owner well and i hope they make. the food was too good to not be successful.

I've been here several times, and had a great experience every time. The staff is extremely friendly and made several menu suggestions that were just awesome. I have been going here since they opened. Absolutely delicious. First off their lunch specials are crazy cheap but does not lack quality. You can get all sorts of stuff but my main attraction is their sushi rolls. Now these are the more simple sushi rolls but I think they are still delicious. You can get 2 for $8 with salad or miso, or 3 for $11 with salad or miso. Crazy good deal? I think yes! And it's great quality. My favorites are the sweet potato roll and spicy crunchy crab roll. I have also had one of their set lunches for $7 that includes your choice of meal with rice and a crab ragoon and spring roll. Again amazing deal. I had the mango chicken there. My goodness, fresh white meat chicken and fresh mango slices, it was better than I was expecting, fantastic actually! Although I go here for their lunches mostly, I did go here on my birthday and had the all you can eat special. My mom and I tried many amazing things. The Ironman roll is to die for! Staff has to be the nicest there. Very friendly and welcoming, always polite as well. Infact I'm pretty sure I took a picture with everyone there on my birthday :P they even threw in surprise ice cream with a candle haha awesome! Also the owner Sean, is one of the coolest guys I have met. Always have a great time talking to him :) The atmosphere is beautiful, the decor is as well. Such a classy looking lounge. Will continue to be one of my favorite places for sushi!

Omg! I went to this place for the first time and ordered Shrimp Udon. Ordered the dinner meal to share with my 6 years old son. The food came, looked good. Split it with my son, enjoyed it a lot. It was very tasty but WAIT!!!!! WTF is in under my tasty shrimp??? Fuck, it's a FLY. A big black fly was in my food. It was a labor day evening, my family was the only customers. How come they didn't pay attention. I called the waitress, she can't do anything but took it off of my bill. I was about to throw up and mad at the same time that my son ate that nasty meal also. 1st and last time for us all

Came as we had a coupon from a mailing. The ambiance was typical for a sushi joint/ restaurant dimmed lighting with a sushi bar where you can see the fish/prep. We didn't sit at it. Started off with some Miso soup. It was fair no better or worse than others. Next had an order of Pork dumplings appetizers which were good. In the upper tier of those I've had. Split at least 5 rolls some were standard like a spicy tuna, some were above standard, but the Black Angel roll amazing. Do give that a try. For dessert had some of the "ice cream. Very tasty, but small portions make me want to only revisit if I have a real craving for a light dessert. Price was expensive but finding a cheap sushi place that is good is hard. Would return preferably with another coupon.

A solid choice for sushi! I have not eaten at any other sushi restaurants in Kansas City and have eaten here twice. I just don't feel the need to try a new place when I've found somewhere like the Sake Lounge. Everything is fresh, the service is great even on a busy weekend night, and the ambiance is clean and modern. I especially like to order one of the boats when it's the wife and I, great presentation!

Came in Monday for my birthday and All You Can Eat Sushi. We went in the lounge area, but quickly got redirected to the sushi side and got to enjoy a nice evening. The all you can eat option wasn't advertised, but thanks to Yelp, we asked and got to enjoy it. It was advertised soup and salad, but our waitress would only allow us one. I had the salad and the ginger dressing was amazing! I had 2 rolls and my SI had 4...which I ended up eating half of his last roll to make sure we didn't get charged $.50 per piece. It all came out on a sushi boat and looked great. Taste was good as well, except the hot & spicy roll wasn't hot or spicy, but it was still good. The waitress forgot a roll, but realized it when she went over which roll was which and got it for us right away. Had a great time and had great sushi!

Located in an unassuming strip mall next to AMC 30, it would be easy to take a pass on this Asian restaurant. I went for lunch & ordered the sushi combo: choose 2 ($8) or 3 ($11) rolls of your choice (from a list of about 20) and soup or salad. Their salad has a creamy ginger dressing and is a substantial serving. I tried the salmon avocado roll, crispy spicy crab roll, honey chicken roll, and peanut avocado roll. Peanut avocado was interesting & better than just avo & fish because of the crnchy texture. Honey chicken is a cooked roll of battered chicken & honey sauce. I wild like to go back with a group and order a sushi roll boat. They have some fabulous combos at good prices and some original, very complex rolls available. For non sushi lovers, they also have bento boxes, teriyaki, and a section of Chinese favorites to choose from. So you can go with your co-workers and everyone can dine happy.

Came here with a party of 3 on a Saturday at noon. There was a birthday party going on in the other room, and 1 or 2 other small parties. The place looked somewhat small to me at first, but I discovered a whole other room that is likely open during dinner, but was inactive during our lunch. Our server greeted us right away and was very attentive and friendly during our meal. I ordered the Hot & Spicy Roll and Eel Avocado Roll. My friends ordered appetizers and they came out quickly. Shortly after the first course, our entrees were brought out. The presentation was really nice on all our dishes. I liked my Hot & Spicy Roll, it was spicy enough but did not burn my mouth. Although the flavor was good, it was overpriced at $10.50. When I order a specialty roll that is $10+, I expect it to be larger than the traditional rolls on the menu. It was the same size as my Eel Avocado roll that was $6.00. The Eel Avocado Roll was pretty good too, but was mostly avocado and not much eel. It was a good portion for lunch, but I wish it was less expensive. Overall, I liked it here, but will not come rushing back. If either the portions were larger or the prices were lower, I would be happier with it. With tax & tip, I spent $25 for lunch for pretty good sushi and relatively small portions.

We are definitely Sake Lounge fans. It is our "go to" for sushi in south Olathe. The nigiri sushi (tuna, yellow tail and salmon are my usual) is typically much better quality than a lot of places I go around town. You can definitely tell the quality of the fish with sashimi or nigiri and these choices have never failed me. If you like Americanized rolls with cream cheese, spicy mayo or fried...this is your spot, too. The Wildcat Roll and Shaggy Dog Roll are my family's favorites. I love the Spicy Girl Roll with fresh salmon, yellow tail, tun and jalapeno wrapped up in soy paper. Yum! My teenagers love the crab rangoon and my husband I love the gyoza. The prices are comparable to anywhere else around town and the quality is slightly better, in my experience. I am not a huge fan of the atmosphere, so we usually get it to go. All in all a pretty decent place for JoCo sushi.

Holy crap. This was the best sushi I've had in the KC area in so long. We ordered Boat A. It was perfect for two very hungry people. the spicy roll was perfection. Service was great, my plumtini was great, sushi was phenomenal.

I'm so happy that my neighbor suggested that we give this place a try! Our first couple attempts at sushi in the greater Kansas City area were less than impressive but this place is spot on! In addition to creative specials (Fast and Furious roll anyone? Um, yes please!!!) they have an impressive line up of cocktails from vodka infused with ginger to premium Japanese whiskies, not to mention a great wine and Sake list. The sashimi was super fresh (live scallops anyone?) and the presentation did not disappoint. Sake is a true sensory experience! I would've given them five stars but they did not offer us any hot towels at the beginning of the meal.

Service was excellent, sushi is above average but the monday all you can eat sushi isn't what it should be. It's only rolls and all of the rolls are spicy. If you want nigiri it's half price on top of the $23.95 admission. If you don't like spicy or primarily want nigiri you're better off with the happy hour if you can get there on time. Otherwise the prices are on the high side.

Great sushi, always a very laid back atmosphere. The owner once bought us sake bombs and recommended we use boulevard wheat for the beer... Brilliant and delicious. (Also extremely intoxicating) I generally get boat B with my fiancé because I love nigiri, but their rolls are top notch and their presentation is fun. Also, the prices are reasonable. The servers are more or less just ok. They don't do anything that is particularly wrong, but if they were just a bit more enthusiastic I think I would Sake a 5 star sushi joint.

Loved. This. Place. In moving from the Plaza/downtown KC area to Olathe, we've tried a few sushi restaurants that made us long for places like Kona and Nara. For us, the more suburban sushi restaurants have been lackluster, at best. We went to Sake Lounge on a whim last Saturday night and could not have been more pleasantly surprised. It's definitely unassuming from the outside (part of a strip of shops near AMC 30), but the inside of the restaurant feels upscale and has a good vibe. Blake was our waiter, and he was really helpful when we asked for suggestions (KC Rainbow roll is a MUST, Avocado Eel roll and King Salmon roll were wonderful). Blake gave us just the right amount of attention throughout our experience and was very laid-back and personable. The meal presentation was impeccable and interesting. Looking around the restaurant, each table's presentation varied. You could tell that the sushi chefs really cared about the way that the food was presented (not to mention how fantastic it tasted). On our way out, EVERY person working there smiled and wished us a good evening. The second we got into the car, we wanted to go right back in! This is our new go-to place. Thanks for the awesome sushi and great Saturday date night, Sake!

Lunch was great, sushi chefs were very friendly and gave me a sample of tuna on the house while I waited for my sushi. California rolls were excellent and fresh. Great staff and food, would visit again!

I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night in February with a reservation. Sake Lounge has an interesting atmosphere that almost looks like they aren't quite finished decorating. We ordered one of the sushi boats to share with our table of 4, and a round of drinks. The sushi was OK for the price, but nothing to make me want to go back when there are other places around town. The service was disappointing. Our server was nice and friendly, but the sushi did not come out too quickly. When a sushi restaurant is busy, it only makes sense to expect a little wait to get your meal. So, the timing of the meal was not a problem. But, 2 of us had finished our 1st round of drinks long before the sushi arrived and we didn't see our server again to ask him for another round. Someone else brought the sushi out to our table and he didn't look like someone we could order drinks from, but apparently we should have tried. By the time the meal was over, which was the next time the server checked on us, we didn't want the 2nd drinks anymore. This was frustrating because the restaurant seems to pride themselves on their bar and drinks and it would have helped the server's tip for us to buy more drinks to add to our tab. Because of the slow service, mediocre food and atmosphere we will not return and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great lunch specials. Fun atmosphere! Fresh fish. Creative rolls! Highly recommend! Tried the chefs choice lunch special and was very impressed. Competitive prices and friendly staff. So far the best sushi spot in the area.

to my disdain, I found myself staying in Olathe. I looked into a few places on yelp and sushi sounded like a good idea. this place was only a couple blocks away from the hotel and had a 4.5 aggregate rating. for the life of me I can't understand why. now, the place wasn't awful. the nigiri and maki were actually quite nice. I skipped the Tom Yum... pineapple? really? the veggie stir fry had a tasty garlic sauce and good vegetable mix, but the brown rice was so old it bordered on crunchy. the menu had a bit of everything asian-- sushi, stir fry, noodles, curries. based on what we had I can't imagine any are truly outstanding, but that's really just an assumption. as per usual I grabbed a seat at the bar. it was 730 on a Saturday and the place was pretty empty. if our service was any indication, I can see why. again not terrible. the lady was pretty friendly, but the guy didn't seem to care that he was at work at all. all in all a pretty underwhelming experience. I might however give it another try for lunch if I found myself back in the area... but overall-- "meh."

Really enjoyed lunch here. I had a two-roll lunch special, which was quite reasonably priced, and I thought it was delicious -- the fish was very fresh & beautifully prepared. The Guy (who "doesn't eat bait") was happy with his shrimp tempura, which he said was light & crispy. We both thought the miso soup was a bit lacking in flavor, but the house salad was excellent, with an astonishingly good ginger dressing. Presentation was beautiful for everything. The decor is modern, clean & unfussy, and the service was attentive & friendly. Can't wait to come back for happy hour to try a few drinks! Looks like this will be a new favorite in the area.

From their inviting decor to their knowledge of sushi, Sake lounge still maintains their reputation for premium sushi. With their vast amounts of sushi, they are sure to have one that wows you. Sake lounge isn't your typical sushi bar. They serve you sushi on boats and decorate it picture worthy. Can't get enough sushi? Come join them for All You Can eat sushi on Mondays. We aren't talking low quality stuff, but only the best. Can you make it past round 4? Some recommendations I have: Wildcat roll / KC Rainbow Roll / Volcano roll / BMW Roll / Las Vegas Roll. These are premium, fill you up rolls. You'll enjoy them. Don't just sit on Yelp reading reviews. Come by and I'm sure you'll be back for seconds. You're not here only for sushi, but for the quality service and inviting atmosphere. Also check out Happy Hour weekdays 3:30-6:30 and Sunday's 3:30-close. A lot of great sushi and drinks discounted during that time. Don't waste your time trying to find the "top sushi restaurant". Come here and make this place your top.

Wowweee! Where do I start with raving about Saki??! As recent transplants from the east coast, hubby and I searched high and low for a sushi place of Seattle/NYC caliber in the KCMO area. We yelped this place and were skeptical of the suburban location but after one traditional dish and the most creative sushi platter presentation, quality and taste I've ever experienced in my LIFE, I can say without a doubt this is now my favorite sushi place and the freshest, most delicious sushi I've ever had...and trust me, between Seattle, DC, NYC Portland and NJ, we have a strong baseline for comparison. A must try especially for coast transplants or for visitors that are doubtful of quality sushi existing in the heartland. I'll be back at least monthly. The pictures speak for themselves.

I love Sushi but I live in the Midwest. LOL The Sake Lounge is a great place to satisfy my cravings. The menu is full of great combinations, the staff were very attentive and polite, and the restaurant is well kept. I just stumbled across this gem so the review will be short with an update after more visits but for now, just know that all the other 5-star reviews don't lie. This place really is fantastic with reasonable prices!! I'm looking forward to going back alone, sitting at the bar and just asking for chef's choice for something spicy. YUM!!

Very nice sushi bar and my husband and I were so happy to find here but the only reason I did not give 5 Stars cos the curtain from outside seeing is too cheap for the bar, they should change it to fit the decoration inside. The salmon sushi is $5 tow PC.Very reasonable price. Also they have a bar next to the sushi bar,I am not get in but sounds not noisy.

By no means am I an expert in sushi nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express but I did just recently return from Okinawa Japan and this is the best sushi I've had stateside. I've tried a couple places by me in Seattle but this is the best I've had.

Looking for a new Sushi place a little closer to where I work and live. Found this place using Yelp and the wonderful reviews, so thank you! Went here for lunch with a co-worker of mine, to try out their lunch special, super nervous because I am very picky about my sushi as well as other Asian inspired dishes. My co-worker and I both had the lunch Bento boxes, She had the chicken and I had the shrimp. The lunch came with rice, 2 crab rangoons, 4 pieces of California roll, and meat w/ veggies, and soup or salad. *TIP: if you like the ginger salad dressing get an extra side and put it on your rice, it was AWESOME!! They do an all you can eat on Monday's, which I will then have to update after we've tried that also. Looking forward to it!!

After a craving for sushi I turned to yelp for a good place to get some. Sake was one the higher end of the list and so I thought I'd give it a try. My boyfriend and I went during lunch hours on the weekend so there were only about 8 other people eating at the time. It was nice and clean and quiet. We each ordered a roll and split a cooked roll. The waiter was very nice and he checked in with us to fill our waters regularly. If I'm ever craving sushi again this is where I'm going to go.

Fantastic sushi quality, and reasonable prices. I went for all you can eat sushi (21.95) and was pleased that the signature rolls are on that menu. All three that I got were excellent! The salmon was extremely flavorful. This sort of quality is uncommon in Olathe. Definitely worth checking out!

Nice atmosphere, excellent selection of nigiri/sashimi and rolls. I tried the salmon and eel nigiri. Both were tasty, but fell apart easily. The mango signature roll was pretty good as well.

I was excited to try the new sushi restaurant near me and was not let down at all. They are currently running an AYCE special for the first few months that features many of their rolls and comes with their miso soup and salad bar. I was a fan of the salad bar. It was very simple, but hit the components of what I like in a salad bar. Simple salad options with a couple of meats and a nice selection of fruits. The thousand island dressing was delicious. I could stop by and enjoy just the salad bar for a light lunch or dinner. It may not be everyone's preference, but perfect for me! The miso soup had a healthy amount of tofu and seaweed sheets in it which was nice, but I wasn't a huge fan of the broth. It was a little lacking in flavor. The sushi was great. Everything tasted extremely fresh and the combinations of the special rolls were excellent. The AYCE does just include rolls and I would have liked to experience some of the selections as individual pieces, but overall impressed with the quality. The AYCE menu is heavy in fried options and spicy options. I quickly looked over the regular menu, so I can not speak to rather this is true throughout the entire menu. My preference would be for more fresh raw options and less fried tempura sushi rolls. I did notice a few rolls that include fruit on the regular menu which is a plus as I like the savory sweet rolls. For those non-sushi fans, the menu has other Asian options making the place appealing to a mix of tastes. The staff was great. The owner was very attentive when I came in, talking to me and making sure I was welcome and checking back at the end of my meal to make sure I enjoyed my experience. He really cared about what I thought of the place. (He did know I was a Yelper as we discussed this, but based on other reviews and his actions before finding this out, I don't think that was a factor to his actions.) The sushi chefs and waitresses were top notch, friendly, attentive, proactive, just excellent service. The restaurant has a lot of room and some of it is still being completed and has not opened yet. The section I sat in I have a mixed review on. It is nice, I like that they don't use throw away chop sticks. I like the lighting, would make for a nice romantic dinner, but also good for friends or meetings. The music was a mix of cultural music and some mild alternative rock. I liked this mix. There was some areas that was just plain plywood that appeared to be completed, but I am not sure. This took away from the elegant, romantic feel of the place, maybe some painting is still being done. Also, I was not a fan of the artwork above the sushi area. It looks like a giant collection of hair. Just wouldn't be my pick of artwork in a restaurant. Overall, this is a great addition to the area. Although there is a sushi restaurant across the street, Sake Lounge goes far above the quality they have after my last visit there. The only thing keeping me from going to the fifth star is the huge amount of fried rolls that are on the menu. Maybe it is me, but don't Americans like non-fried sushi anymore? Free WiFi available

I discovered this place on Yelp while in Olathe for business, and decided to give it a try since it was close to my hotel. The decor of the place was beautiful and welcoming. The bartender was also my server and he was both friendly and attentive. Because of their happy hour specials I was able to get 2 beers and a few delicious rolls of sushi for $20. I'll be back again next time I'm in town!

If I could give Sake Lounge 1,000 stars, I would. No questions asked. Hailing from the Northland of KCMO, I hadn't heard of Sake until I met a friend here for lunch a few weeks ago and now, I think I'll be making the drive a bit more often. The decor is modern and beautiful and accopanied by an incredible playlist/radio in the background - seriously. The music was perfect. I know it's silly to make it so important, but it matters. Our waitress was wonderful as well. Accomodating, funny and accurate. Three of my favorite words to describe waitstaff. Now for the food. As an avid sushi-eater, often eating it once a week (sometimes more), I'll try just about anything once, and this place was no exception to that rule. I wish I could remember the name of the rolls that I ordered, but overall in general? EACH one of them was awesome. We had all of our 5 rolls put onto one their wooden boats and let me tell you - I was far more entertained/impressed than I should have been for a 24 year old adult. Everything was presented beautifully and tasted even better! Just an added bonus, the crab rangoons I ordered as a starter were delicious too! I was pleasantly surprised when I got my check and everything (2 rolls, edamame, crab rangoon and a soft drink) was only $22! If you're looking forward to paying this place a visit - which I HIGHLY recommend - I suggest you go for happy hour - you'll save money and get an incredible experience.

Came here for my birthday hoping for the best sushi in KC. What I got was...probably the best sushi in KC. Unfortunately, that's not saying a whole lot. But that sounds harsher than I mean it to sound. Let me expand... It was about 6:00 on a Friday, and the place was pretty dead. I was excited for some drink specials for happy hour, but was told that it was only on "the bar side", meaning there are essentially two different establishments. This isn't made clear. Their sake menu is pretty weak for a place called "sake". It has some decent selections, but none are all that special or great. The waiter did not seem to have a whole lot of knowledge. In reality, he wasn't all that helpful on the food either. He was nice and efficient...but didn't know a whole lot. I'll get to that a bit more later. I ordered the sushi platter - 9 pieces sushi with a salmon roll. My wife, not liking seafood and especially not liking raw seafood, got the sesame chicken. They both came out pretty quickly. I had asked my waiter ahead of time what came on the sushi platter and he said "oh, probably just a chef's choice". When it was delivered, there was no explanation (and seemingly no knowledge) of what type of fish it was. I know there was 1 shrimp and 2 yellowtail (my favorite), but couldn't tell the other 6 and was destined to not find out. Poor knowledge of the menu by the waiter. The sushi itself as really quite good - good flavor, fresh tasting. The roll, however, wasn't that great. My wife's sesame chicken was surprisingly good (Americanized, of course) for a Japanese/sushi place, and I enjoyed it a lot. Would I come back? Probably. Will I rush back? No. And I think I'll sit at the sushi bar so that (1) I can see the chefs in action, because they make some really great looking dishes, and (2) I actually know what I am getting to eat. But it was an enjoyable dinner with good sushi, probably right up there with the best in KC. 3.5 or 3.75 stars, rounded to 4.

Ehh... I can no longer eat sushi like it's the best thing since chopsticks. So, when my friends invited me to join them, I ordered a house salad (with ginger dressing) and a sangria. That white sangria was fantastical. The salad was fine. The calamari appetizer was pretty great. Their fancy boat of assorted rolls looked fine and they said it was good. I also took home a steak and fried rice dinner to my kid. It tasted like heavy, greasy, (non-traditional) Chinese food rather than like it'd been grilled teppanyaki-style with a lighter flavor. Not good. The kid very much likes coming here with his friends for sushi, but this was my first visit. I guess I could give it another whirl with him.

If you are looking for a fun, relaxed environment with awesome sushi, great drinks, and good service, stop at Sake. I usually sit at the bar and service is awesome. Bartender Amanda has good suggestions and is always friendly and helpful. My favorites are the gyoza(potstickers), shaggy dog roll, and the sunny roll with avocado. Try the sake sangria too! So sweet and tasty, you'll forget how many you've had. Dining room is huge and has tons of tables for larger gatherings. Server Blake is helpful and is great working with groups. Happy hour goes all day on Sunday, so make it a funday at Sake.

I ordered the sesame chicken kitchen lunch- the miso soup that came before the meal was pretty good, though I'm not a huge fan of miso soup. The chicken itself was delicious and I could have eaten twice as much of it. The fried rice, though- it tasted... metallic? I'm not even sure how they managed that. Rice and peas and onion do not taste metallic. I kind of wish I hadn't paid $1.95 to eat something that tasted like I was chewing on aluminum foil. I'll give them a second chance for sure, but not eating the fried rice again.

We have been looking forward for this restaurant to open for quite awhile! We have been fans since they had Wasabi Cafe. The rolls weren't exactly as we remembered but were just as good. We tried the AYCE sushi and my youngest daughter had the pineapple fried rice. I'm not a big fan of miso soup so didn't care for it too much. I was really impressed with the salad bar. I didn't want to eat too much because I wanted to save my stomach for the sushi! My daughter loved the honey shrimp and sweet potato rolls. We can't wait to go back and try more rolls!

So.... I went here twice in one day... TWICE!!! I just love sushi!! I was over in the KS side anyways and was getting hangry (hungry, angry)... I and just want food, anything would do! So I turned to Yelp! I was tired of Shoguns and Edokko, and the radio happened mentioned Sake Lounge. Ahh hell why not! I gave it a try! First off, the decore is very modern... I was diggin' it. And they play really good music during the lunch time. lol So that was a plus Anywho Food talk time! Sashimi Lunch Special - 12.25 for 10 pieces, not too bad. Pricing was a bit for the small cuts you got of red snapper and fatty tuna, but you get nice pieces of tuna and salmon. If you get this make sure it's 10 and not 9 pieces. Second, I also got the Sweet Shrimp and Tamago. The Sweet Shrimp was nice and fresh, however, I didn't like how they fried the shrimp head- It's not fried how it's traditionally suppose to be fried. Nonetheless still yummy! Tamago was yummmm!!!!!!!! I love tamago, the even balance of sweet egg and rice. The a la cart is pricey but they are nice cuts... Actually everything on there is a but pricey. Two piece tako (octopus) was about $5... whereas if you went to RA for $7 something you get 8 large pieces. That was what I got for lunch... as well as the Thai iced tea Dinner, I got Boat A- 5 different rolls for only $36 totally fine with that! Cali roll, volcano roll, Hot and Spicy roll, Wild Cat roll, and something else I can't remember. I'm not a fan of rolls, I prefer sashimi and nigiri BUT the rolls werent' too bad. I could say lay off the cream cheese- but they have a certain audience to please and whatnot so it's understandable. Also ordered TyKu Coconut sake... YUM!!!!!!!!!!! it taste and smelt like vietnamese rice wine dessert!!!! I was a FAN!!! If you want a nice milky sake get TyKu... They never fail in making yummie sake. Grades: Sashimi and Nigiri- 5/5 Rolls - 3.5 / 5 Pricing- 3.5 / 5 Decore- 4/5 Service- 5/5 I would def come back... but it's a killer on price... I would most likely go to RA before coming here again, but the Boat Specials are a great DEAL! Take advantage... but if you want sashimi with good pricing go to RA.

The atmosphere is wonderful. Classy and modem but modest and not pretentious at all. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We went around 4 so the place was nice and quiet but started to pick up as we were leaving. We ordered their special and it was some of the best sushi I have ever had and the presentation was gorgeous. The special was 5 rolls for $35. The chef cam by to talk to us a bit too which was nice. I would recommend this place to anyone.

First off there's no reason to get reservations they aren't that busy and its big. We did and they didn't know where we were sitting they just basically said here's a table. The table we got was not very sturdy and shifted a lot. We ordered sake and watched our waitress bring food and drinks 5 or 6 times from the other room without looking once at the bar where our drinks sat for 15 min before she remembered. The food was good but didn't see anything that made this place any different from other sushi restaurants.

This place was amazing. Desperately needed some fresh food whilst visiting Kansas, stumbled across this place based off yelp reviews and they deserve every star. We got the boat A and we weren't disappointed...and we ate the entire thing. Each bite better than the next. It was a touch expensive but hey for 5 rolls of incredibly fresh sushi they are reasonable!

I was so pleasantly taken aback by this restaurant. I made the drive out from KCMO to meet up with some friends and was, to be honest, thinking I'd find another KC Japanese joint with overly sauced Americanized sushi. Rather, Sake Lounge has a great selection of fun and creative rolls with real Japanese ingredients (no jalapenos or cream cheese, thank God). They also have lots of entrees and bento boxes to choose from, which is great for friends who have issues with raw fish (such a shame, but to each her own). I had the KC Rainbow roll that night; it was very tasty and had the perfect amount of rice. The raw fish seemed fresh and had a pleasant texture. My meal was made complete with a crisp Japanese Asahi beer at hand. Unfortunately, no sake for me that night since I was driving. The only downside is that I came here with a group of 5 on a Saturday night and service was sllowwwww. The sushi bar was backed up and it probably took 30-45 minutes to get our food. The waitresses were nice and gave us free edamame to keep us occupied, but a dainty plate of beans ain't gonna appease such a group for very long. Despite the long wait, I am sure I'll recommend this place to friends and look forward to trying another roll some other time!

Last night we went to the grand opening. It was a disaster: 1. While I knew it would take awhile for food to come out since it was an event, it took THREE BLOODY HOURS. Some people in our party had driven 2 hours one way to attend. 2. The waitress spilled ice water on my friend. 3. My friend's sashimi was ice cold/frozen. 4. They sent us one little bowl of free edamame to compensate... one bowl for 10 of us. 5. They tried to charge full price when everything was supposed to be half off. 6. No discount on the bill for waiting 3 hours for the food. Shameful. I will never return.

Super impressed with this place! People were helpful at picking out fun things & even suggested an off the menu item which I love to do things like that! The food was very good & some different things that you don't necessarily see in this area....like fruit sushi rolls! they had some rolls with mango in it, but we had one with banana. It was a a bit overpowering, but I wld def try one of the mango rolls next time. We also had the yellowtail jalapeño app which was very good and the sushi pizza which wasn't on the menu, but super good & fun. For rolls we had the #1 Yum Yum which was good enough to have again, the Spicy Girl & it was also very good & lastly the Ironman which was probably our favorite. The interior of the place is very contemporary & even a bit swanky. We don't live in this area....about a half hour away, but we'd make the drive to come here again!

Love love LOVE this place. I come here at least 3 times a week during my lunch break at work. I always expect to be seated and have my food within 10 minutes. During lunch they have this great special for $8. You can pick from a variety of rolls and a choice of side salad or miso soup. The servers have all been very nice and quick to respond. I also like to come here during their happy hour for drinks. All the bartenders are interactive and outgoing. I have nothing bad to say and I recommend this place to everyone!

Food was good and normal for sushi. We walked in and the place was empty, so we were skeptical. However, the owner/bar tender seemed welcoming so we decided to try it. We sat at the bar and asked for recommendations. The owner told us he wanted us to try things, brought things out we didn't order. And then charged us. We were shocked and disappointed in this. These items were odd and not things we would have chosen to order so we thought that was rude.

Went here on a whim, typically I avoid fish and sushi in Kansas as a rule, but reviews were strong. Great staff and even better food. The menu items are very good but if you have time, I recommend the chef's choice which depends on the days fresh ingredients. I've returned and each time tried something new, finding a new favorite!

Was shocked that a restaurant with the word "sake" in its name would have such a poor selection. Then there was the food. If you know what really good sushi tastes like stay away. Really. Also, they had cheap, slippery, plastic chopsticks that made it hard to pick up food and I am not in any way a novice user.
