Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Not a whole lot to say here. Good Chinese food and cooked to order fairly quickly! I do want to emphasize "good" food, not "great" food! At least for my wife and I. For us it just seems to lack a bit of spice/flavor. The chicken used is very good quality and couldn't be happier there, no mystery meat to be found which I absolutely love. 4 Stars for Good food and service. I'll go back again and try something a little "crazier" or see if the chef can make my General's chicken extra spicy or something. Go here without a doubt for good quality and consistency!

Some of the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. The meat was way over cooked and dry. What a waste of money!!

The people that own/work at Chang's Wok are awesome. Super nice and very quick. I've ordered over the phone, in person and online with ease. The prices can't be beat. This place is just a little further down Ridgeview from a fancier Chinese restaurant. If you're wanting take-out drive an extra 5 minutes to Chang's Wok!!! They have great lunch specials that cannot be beat. Only down fall for some will be that there is there is not an option for dine-in.

Honestly, one of the better Chinese restaurants around in the Johnson county area. The food is tasty, and yes, it's Americanized Chinese food. Either way, if you want worthwhile Chinese, try Chang's. If not, move along.

The fact that I'm giving this place 1 star is heartbreaking, because they have the BEST CHINESE FOOD IN TOWN! A month ago, I would've given Chang's Wok 5 stars...but now, I can't understand how they even stay open anymore. A few weeks ago, my wife and I were looking for a new Chinese restaurant that delivers because we'd grown tired of the one we'd been ordering from (new management = crap). Mind you, my wife and I are not shut-ins, etc...we go out a lot. It's nice, though, to have food delivered and eat at home once in a while - especially if there's a Royals/Chiefs game on or something. So, during an internet search for Chinese delivery, we came upon Chang's Wok. Even better, we could order from the computer - which we did. The food came, it was delicious, and we thought we had found our new favorite Chinese restaurant/delivery. YAY! ...didn't last, though. Here's the descent into mediocrity (IMO): #1.) A week or so later, I went on the internet to order from Chang's Wok and discovered that internet ordering was no longer an option. Okay, fine...I'm a social guy; I have no problems ordering on the phone. I did, and that was that. This was in the evening, btw, around 6:30 or so. #2.) One evening, at about 7pm, I called Chang's Wok to order some food (we had guests over). The person on the phone informed me that they no longer deliver at night...only until 2pm. WHAT?! I feel like that has to cut their business drastically - I wanted to say to the person, "You delivered to my house at 6:30, like, a WEEK AGO!" I didn't, because what would that have solved? But still, do they just change the rules as they go? Btw, that night, my wife and I ordered from our old Chinese place. Chang's Wok is losing business because of their bad business decisions. #3.) Which brings me to today. The time is now 1:15pm...about ten minutes ago, I decided to call Chang's Wok for delivery (we're a bit tired because we got home at 4am). I figured "Hey, it's before 2pm...this is gonna work!" I called and said I'd like to order for delivery. The woman on the phone, somewhat rudely, said "You come pick up in 15 minutes. Delivery you wait an hour or more." On a SUNDAY afternoon?! There's not even a Chiefs game on! I just hung up - rude on my part, I know, but this is driving me crazy. I feel like we've given Chang's a lot of chances, because their food really is spectacular, but enough is enough. I could see if they were listed as *take-out only*...but they went from "internet ordering/quick delivery" to "sorry...you need to come get it" in just a few weeks! Bull crap. This is not a good way to run a business; they are cutting out a lot of clientele with these poor sudden decisions. If I'm driving past Ridgeview, maybe I'll stop by sometime. In the meantime, time to find another Chinese delivery restaurant.

Great Chinese food. I am very specific when it comes to crab Rangoon and they do it right. It is perfect, not sweet as if sugar was added. The noodle dishes are huge and usually contain about 4 servings. The lunch menu is cheap and good. This is my go to for Chinese take out.

I has gotten the crisp honey chicken with fried rice as the dinner combo. I've heard a lot of good reviews about this place but IMO the food didn't live up to it's hype. The chicken was really sticky and drippy with an overpowering sweet sauce and a bit over battered. The crab Rangoon was pretty nice though. Will still return to try something else and give it another shot.

I have to be in a really specific mood for Americanized Chinese food...like, a really specific mood. Usually, I'll do anything to get the authentic stuff. However, sometimes, that Americanized craving just comes around. Being sick often causes that...and recently I wasn't feeling too hot. Deciding to try something new, Yelp guided me towards Chang's. Not too far from my house, I figured it was worth a shot. The place is tiny - two tables and a couple chairs to wait. The strip mall is a typical strip mall with lots of parking right in front of the door. Service is very, very friendly, from Chang himself as well as the others working there. The menu is huge - just a ridiculous amount of choices, all priced very cheaply. The quantity is huge, meaning (I assume) the quality of meat isn't quite the best...but you've got to assume that going in. Pork with garlic sauce was my choice, extra spicy. It came with rice, egg roll and crab rangoon. There were a ton of veggies, which I really enjoy. The main dish was flavorful, but barely spicy at all. It's already a "hot and spicy" dish, and I ordered it extra spicy...they need to amend their definitions of what spicy is. The egg roll is OK. The crab rangoon, which I normally don't like at all, was actually quite tasty. You need to go in knowing you'll get the Americanized stuff with very little connection to real Chinese food...however, if you want that (as most people do), this is a solid choice.

I read all the glowing reviews of this place, and I have to double check to see if we're talking about the same place we ordered from last week. It was awful, almost bad enough to put me off Chinese food forever. The hot-and-sour soup was dreadful, gelatinous and full of cheap filler ingredients. There was no meat in it, and was very vinegary. We threw it out. Appetizers? The spring rolls and egg rolls were filled with cheap stuff. Cabbage mostly, and pretty tasteless. The crab rangoon was as decent as you get anywhere, I guess. There was no hot mustard included with our order. Our main courses were overcooked, as though they were heated up from a day or two before. My dish had broccoli in it, and it was gray, soggy and unbelievably overcooked and disgusting. Slimy describes the food best of all, and good Chinese food isn't slimy!! The other dish was some sort of spicy chicken, and it was bright orange and just chicken. That's it. Just hunks of chicken that tasted terrible and was tough. Gah. The food at this place is about as appetizing as the building.

The website boasts a former PF Changs chef so I decided to try something other than my normal Chinese spot. I was pretty disappointed in the overall food. Everything was bland and boring. Typically I don't eat a lot of Chinese because although the food has a lot of flavor, the flavors are often just all muddled together, sadly this place didn't even rate up to that level.

This place is absolutely awful! Unbelievably dry and overlooked meat, in all three of the items I ordered. Honestly some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had, it was literally inedible. It may be cheap, but you get what you pay for, that's for sure. My advice is to spend a little more and get food from Asian Pearl just down the road, it is very good.

This is definitely a hidden gem. The food was excellent and so cheap even with nice sized portions. Carry out or delivery but with the food quality they could definitely give Bo Lings a run for their money.

Chang's ain't much to look at. Located in a strip mall that no one really pays any attention, I've driven past Chang's probably a million times. I've had about four friends and neighbors tell me that I have to try this place. So I did. The inside is small, only a couple of tables, Changs must be more about the carry out/delivery than dine in. We ordered take-out on Sunday, April 15 and were quite pleased with our meal. It isn't gourmet Chinese food, but if you're looking for classic, Americanized Chinese, this place is A-OK. The crab rangoon is flavorful and the filling is smooth. The sweet and sour sauce is, well, the same sweet and sour sauce you get all over the city. Sweet and sour chicken is delicious, but there is nary a vegetable in sight. Ehhh, I can live without since I'm not eating Chinese for the health benefits, but I do like some roughage. Portion size was good, price was really, really good. $8/crab rangoon + entree. I've got no complaints about Chang's. Will I go back? Probably, it's convenient.

Was a wonderful experience for what I call "cheap chinese" I had the Pad Thi & crab rangoon. Both were good. Delivery was super fast. Price was average. Wonderful "fresh" experience. I will get Changs again.

The food here was very nearly as good as Bo Ling's, at a fraction of the price. I had General Tso Chicken with fried rice, egg drop soup, and a crab rangoon for about $5.15. The chicken was moist, tender, and flavorful, with only a thin layer of breading. The sauce was very well done, too. The portions were very generous. I have no complaints! This place is worth a little drive, and don't be deterred by the place's outside appearance.

Their food is fast and tasty. The service is quick and friendly. This is a locally owned mom and pop shop, not a large operation. If you want something that you can munch on for a long time, go for the Pad Thai. My son says it's the best Pad Thai around. We order it "extra spicy" which is just a bit spicy. There is a whole container full of noodles, vegetables, shrimp and chicken. It's enough to feed two large hungry men or three to four other people.

Great take-out Chinese food! Reasonably priced, fresh food....served with a friendly smile. We love Chang's Wok!
(5)Elizabeth N.
The food here is hyped up. They have mexicans cooking. No I am not racist I just think it is unreal that chinese people come to america to make a business and then hire mexicans to cook. My how times have changed. Recently ordered the general tsos shrimp and it was the most disgusting thing I have had from a chinese restaurant in ages. In a previous review I mentioned how good the chicken and broc was. This was true when they had the old chinese man cooking here, he is now gone, replaced by the mexicans and the food quality shows.

Great food and great prices. It's close to my work, so I call in the order and pick it up on the way home. In my humble opinion, it's the best Chinese take-out around.
