I am very surprised to find this gem so close, after looking all over for good fresh Chinese food. This place is tucked in right behind Walgreens and you should never hesitate to stop in for a very fresh meal! They are very quick with your lunch. By the time you wash your hands and sit down your soup is already served. I've tried there specials and both were good. Caution the Jalapeno chicken is awesomely spicy! If you're going to have general Taos I suggest dining in, per it losing its amazing crunch. The service is very friendly, even from the guy that always looks grumpy.

This place is amazing!!! The staff is super nice and the food is incredible!! My husband gets the Combination Fried Rice and he loves it, tons of chicken, steak and shrimp! I always get their cashew chicken and it is outstanding! My co-workers order all kinds of different dishes that I have never once heard anybody complain about! If you haven't tried it you must! If you don't want soup then they will let you have 2 apps. They are so accommodating and the prices are perfect! Great Job!!

We order every Friday night, or sometimes Saturday. The food is always hot and the food is always good. You can add more meat to your dish, for a small price, too. We always get our meals delivered. They have never gone over 45 minutes to an hour. They are always nice and courteous. If I had to improve anything, it would be to have less sauce. Sometimes the food is just swimming in it. The egg rolls rock!

I had generals chicken carry out. It was amazing! This was the first time I have been to bobos but won't be the last. I got to visit with the owner while they were making my food. I had told her I was new to Kc and that I found them on yelp. She first welcomed me to Kc and then asked. What is yelp? When I explained it she then asked what did they say we can do better.

My favorite Chinese place. Not a buffet place. They make my favorite, Szechan Chicken special because I am not able to eat soy sauce. Most soy sauces have gluten in them.

Very fast service and excellent food. Fast Chinese done right. Service is fast, food is good. Pay with cash for a 3% discount. I always carry out because the dining area is a bit dated and small.

Food is standard Chinese take-out but the staff is not welcoming or courteous and the three or four times we have ordered take out the phone/counter person verged on rude, as if they were annoyed at us for bothering them. Found another place almost as convenient to our house, the food is just as good if not better and the people are actually happy to serve you. Service matters!

This is my family's go to take out Chinese restaurant. It's just blocks from my house. Food is always fresh and tasty.

I really like this Chinese restaurant. Their General's chicken is excellent and has just the right amount of heat (for me). They are always willing to make substitutions and not change the price. And their lunch prices is very good and they give a good amount of food. The only compliant I have is one of the cooks; he's always wearing sleeveless shirts. Yuck! And they probably could benefit from all the cooks dress. Go from jeans and a t shirt to dressing like a cook.

  • Gary A.

The food is normally very good when the owner is there cooking. If he's gone the quality is just not there. Perhaps when the secondary cooks get more experience the food will be better.

zero stars! i picked up my order of mongolian beef for dinner and an order of mixed veggies. cost me almost 19 dollars for 5 pieces of beef and the veggies didnt taste right. last time i will order from them.

So I go to this BoBo Chinese restaurant every week and most times they don't give me noodles for egg drop soup unless I remember to ask. Today I asked for an extra since I have 2 soups and he told me NO. I asked again and he said NO. I said "man that's not a good way to treat a customer who comes in every week" and he just looked at me. Well I'm glad they don't need my money cause I'm not spending anymore of it there! Not to mention the stores cleanliness is on decline.

Great Chinese food, but the owner is very rude! I have ordered here several times & they've forgotten the rice twice. Really wish there was another Chinese restaurant in the area!

I have gotten take out from Bobo's many times and have been very happy with the quality. The food is good and the service is good too. My girls love the fried dumplings. I would recommend this place for good American type Chinese food.

The best hot and sour soup I've ever tasted. Food is much more quality than a buffet and is very reasonably priced, you can't really beat it. The portions are the perfect amount. I highly recommend the Kung Pow Chicken with Hot and Sour Soup. I work just a few blocks away and always take people out to eat there if we are meeting together for lunch. I've eaten there literally 3 days out of the 5 days I work and still haven't got sick of it. Give it a try!

I'm thinking about going 5 stars here because I love it that much. I go here for lunch quite a bit. For $5.45 I get soup, a hot delicious entree with rice, and an egg roll. So, it's affordable. The service is very friendly and fast, usually as fast as a drive thru.

  • Frank M.

Ok food, not bad, not great. Quick service, but not the most friendly, especially if you call ahead on the phone. Quantities are good unless you order shrimp dishes as they keep the price in line with chicken dishes so you get smaller amounts of meat (6 shrimp on sweet and sour shrimp lunch plate isn't enough for my kids). If you want a quick decent meal, not a bad stop in South Olathe, but if you want to be blown away with quality, go elsewhere.

I just went to Bobo's for the first time today and thought it was amazing! I ordered the sesame chicken for lunch which was a little spicy but made it even better. I am picky on crab rangoons and his place is up to par. The egg drop soup was great and fast, friendly service. I will definitely be going back and taking family and friends.

The food is OK. I still like Master Wok in Olathe the best in the Kansas City area. The lady at Bobo's that always works that cashier is always in a bad mood. She has no personality and is flat out rude. I would rate this place a 4 stars if the cashier was at least cordial or was customer friendly.

Mediocrity at best. I've eaten here multiple times, both take-out and dine-in. Each time, I was sorely disappointed. While I've avoided reviewing this establishment in the past, my most recent visit compelled me to do so. I've ordered the General Tso's chicken on multiple occasion. The breading (on multiple occasions) was soggy and pathetic. General Tso's, like lo mein, fried rice, and egg rolls are staples of a take-out Chinese restaurant. How they managed to screw it up many times is beyond me. Last night, I ordered the Yu Hsiang chicken on a whim. I was told it would be "sour and spicy". Being a fan of hotter dishes, I requested it to be extra spicy. When I confirmed this with the owner, she gave me a condescending attitude and snapped at me, telling me that I had already told her. When I received my order, I realized that my wonton soup was a pint, not a quart. The worker who delivered my order to me explained that it was the dinner special. I was left confused after I was told the pint was the dinner special (for the same price as a quart...?). I digress. Initial impressions of this meal? Pathetic. Yet again, the General Tso's chicken was limp and soggy (my friend's plate). My "extra spicy" Yu Hsiang chicken? Not a single red pepper was in it. I let multiple people try it, and they laughed at its potency. I had to add sriracha to make it remotely spicy. My wonton soup, which cost 2 dollars, had two wontons in it. The broth tasted like salt, not much else. The wontons were flavorless. My fried rice was chewy. The Yu Hsiang chicken's portioning was minute, nowhere close to filling. The most amusing part was that I added a 20% tip up front, yet none of my expectations were met. Looks like it's time for me to find a new Chinese restaurant.

This place is near my house and I've been twice. I heard good things and was not really impressed either visit. It's your standard Chinese American place with the normal dishes. They will make some dishes to order, for example if you don't want your chicken battered and fried. Also i had them make a garlic sauce on a pork dish and it was decent. On the General Tso's the chicken seemed to have more fat than actual meat. The staff is nice and service is usually fast. The inside isn't too dirty, but didn't feel clean either. I'm tough to impress with Chinese and the other reviewer was correct that this was something you could get in the frozen food section and make at home. I don't plan on going back mainly because I've had better elsewhere.

I've been here several times in the past for take-out, and I've found it only so-so. However, last night's visit ended up with dinner being tossed into the trash after only a couple of bites. The General Tso Chicken (and I'm not sure if it really was chicken) was unedible and contained so much grissle, fat, and skin that it wasn't recognizable. There are many good places to eat so I'll skip this one in the future.

Yum. Love this place. Eat here at least once a week. I've had a lot of Chinese. And while this place looks the same as any other place when you walk in, the food is among the best Chinese take-out places I've been to.

Love this place. I can't say that I've tried every item on their menu, but of the ones that I have tried... I have no complaints! In fact, I ordered catering from Bobo's for my daughter's 3rd birthday party because I'm that confident the food will be a hit. My favorites are: Combination Lo Mein, Happy Family, and Cashew Chicken. The sauces are flavorful without being too overwhelming or starchy. I've always ordered take-out, but the restaurant is very clean and I often see families dining at the booths. The owner doesn't know me by name, but recognizes my face, which I always find welcoming. If it's been a couple weeks since I've stopped by, she'll say, "Hey, long time, no see! Where's your little girl?" (I usually have my daughter with me.) The food is fast, delicious, and affordable.... One tip, there's usually a line whenever the Garmin lunch and dinner crowds show up so call your order ahead of time if it's a weekday. Give Bobo's a try, you won't be disappointed.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
