Been coming here for 15 years. Always satisfied. What happened? They got better! Nicely done Team Austin's! Best chicken tenders ever!

I can't praise the wait staff enough. They are attentive and efficient. Very friendly and courteous. I really like Austins. The food is always plentiful and tasty.

My whole extended family has been going to Austin's regularly for years, it's always been a good place to grab dinner at a fair price. We have always liked the burgers and chicken tenders and fries, but also the fact that the healthier eaters in the family have options like the herb grilled chicken or salmon. We have noticed the portions lately getting noticeably smaller, and though I know portion sizes are generally too big in restaurants, lately Austin's seems downright stingy. Along with this unwelcome change, the prices have increased and now fries are extra. Seriously, in a bar and grill, who is ordering a burger without fries? We are so disappointed, to have to find a new local dinner spot, but as I read in another review, the pseudo fancy trappings that Austin's has added, like the fries in the little silver cup? Not necessary, and not fooling anyone.

We called a day in advance to reserve seating for our 10+ group but when we arrived they didn't have us written down and had to scramble to find chairs for all of us. Once they finally had us settled service was much better! The food was pretty good, I had the Mahi Mahi tacos which were a little dry but buried in toppings! The beer was ice cold and really hit the spot! The decor is a little outdated with wood paneling but had a comfortable neighborhood bar feel to it. Overall I think the food is a little over priced and the drinks were way overpriced!
(2)Cori S.
Our food was good, as always but our waitress was horrible. She kept chatting with the guys at the table next to us and was rude to us! Finally towards the end of our meal, when our waitress went MIA, what appeared to be a manager came out to run our check & helped us with a bag for our leftovers.
(4)Jess L.
Austin's seems to be going through a midlife crisis. I enjoyed the good ole bar food, in a bar atmosphere at a reasonable price. Instead of going for the full on "face-lift" they added new plating & a pretentious-style menu with higher prices (the sandwich is still $10 but if you want the fries/side you have to pay extra). I'm sorry Austin's, but a little make-up doesn't cover up who you are on the inside.
(2)Brandon D.
Good burgers and drinks! Great sports crowd and an attentive staff. Chicken tenders taste great with their gravy.

I have been going to Austin's for many years and have usually had a good experience when dining. The last couple of visits however, have been very disappointing. They have a new manager that has changed their food, menu, and prices. It was getting to the point where my wife and I would choose to go to Outback or Longhorn Steakhouses to get more for our dining dollar. Now, with a new menu and even higher prices we will not return. Last night I ordered a tenderloin sandwich for $9. When it arrived, it was alone on the plate. No fries. Those are now extra. Prices for all items have gone through the roof! I can get a nice sirloin steak with baked potato, salad, and fresh baked bread at either of the afore mentioned places for $12. Why would I pay that amount for a burger at Austin's? Adios Austin's.
(1)Dustin K.
I really liked the atmosphere of this place and the waitress was excellent, but the food was very pedestrian at best. I had a Reuben and the corned beef was dry. Not a terrible place but for sure not mainstay

This is probably the nicest restaurant in Gardner. The decor is very English pub-like with its oak paneling. I have enjoyed going to Austin's for years. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. The food is priced reasonably and they have great specials. The club sandwich and any of their burgers are probably my main go-to items. I'm not crazy about the "condiment station" but that's because I'm a germaphobe and I don't like the idea of touching the serving pieces knowing that other people have touched them. I enjoy eating both inside and on the restaurant's covered patio.

Austins is a nice place, would recommend for sure. I was served at the bar on Sep 13th by a bartender named Jason (if I remember correctly.) The service as great, very attentive and friendly. Good beer selection and prices too. Only thing I would change is that my fries were barely above room temperature and you have to go get your own ketchup from this condiment bar off near a server station. It would be okay but for the fact that if you are dining alone like I was, you don't wanna leave you stuff just sitting there while you search for ketchup.

Love this place. The food is always good. The service has always been quick and friendly. Prices are comparable to all other restaurants of this type. Love the burgers, pork sandwich, chicken tenders, potato skins and queso dip. The wings are wonderful. We frequent here a lot.

Update. Went to the Olathe location again today. Half priced burger on Mondays. It still cost Damn near 6 for the burger and frues. Another 2.50 for a drink. Overall bill was 9 bucks before tip. Below average burger. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful though. So I give the waitstaff 4 stars. Food 2 stars and prices/value 1 star. Overall. Just 2 stars.
(2)Josh R.
I don't give out 5 stars lightly, especially for a bar. The food was excellent, good service and drinks. It was packed even at 9pm on a Monday night. Will definitely try again soon.

Review on carry out experience: We called in and ordered some of their wings. Evidentially they have some express pick-up spot, but it's not marked well. I found the server walking through the parking lot looking for me with our food. She took my card, ran it and then came back out. It was a pretty quick deal. We got the wings with the sauce in big containers on the side. This way we could heat the wings up in the oven when our friends came and then we tossed them in a big bowl with sauce. They were crispy and delicious. They disappeared quick and we could have easily ordered more. I thought this was great option for game day food when you want to watch the game at home with friends. Or take them over to a party. Your friends will thank you.

A great place to go and have a burger and a beer. Have been there many times and staff has been great. Had a so-so experience once with a waitress who seemed to be new and the place was a madhouse. I had my kids with me that day and maybe she assumed we would tip poorly since since we had little ones -- her self fullfilling prophecy was granted -- but only due to service that was lacking. It happens -- no big deal I have been back a few times since then and enjoyed it very much. Will continue to go. Their burgers and excellent. Would recommend! The parking lot is a bit tight but no worries.

Just had dinner at Austin's in Olathe. I would first say we have been going there for 10 years since we moved into the neighborhood. Today however we noticed some changes to the the menu and were excited to see that, in the past it has been pretty limited. We also noticed a new section called "Gourmet Fries" that were priced at $2.00 and up. I ordered the Steak Sandwich and my wife ordered the new Philly Sandwich. The waitress asked if we wanted any sides with that like, fries. I asked, "So the meals don't come with fries?". She replied, " No, they are under the gourmet fries section. They had some Western fries, Sweet Potatoe and Truffle. I asked the waitress what happened to the old fries to which she replied, "Oh, those are the Western Fries". So now you must pay $2.00 extra for the same fries that use to come with the meals. When our meals came out they were the size of appetizers. for the same price as before I might add. The steak sandwich was paper thin. The new " Gourmet Fries" were in a small metal cup the size of a small McDonalds fry order. So the value of the meal has now been eliminated. I paid $14 for a meal that use to cost $12 and got smaller portions???? It was a complete joke. Will never be back and suggest you think twice about eating there. Jacked up prices for less substance.

If you're looking for a Bar & Grill with some crappy pub food then you should probably go somewhere else. They have an awesome atmosphere with even better food! Very clean, amazing staff, and the best baked beans I've had other than mom's of course. Overall, being from out of state we stumbled onto this place and couldn't be happier. I highly recommend you check this place out!
(5)Chuck M.
The all you can eat peel and eat shrimp in Tuesday nights is the best value in all of Kansas City. Food is excellent and the service is perfect. I can't wait to try 1/2 priced burgers on Mondays.

I was determined that we'd eat some place different on Friday. I didn't get a lot of chance to research during the day, so by dinner time, I was kind of rushing to find something. I typed "Best Restaurant in Olathe" in Google, this came up in the top 5; I've tried the others. The reviews seemed mixed, but the menu looked okay so I locked it in. We got there and were greeted by a boisterous crowd. We were able to snag a table right away. Two seconds after sitting down our "waitress" (I think calling her our order taker would be more appropriate) wanted to take our orders. I explained to her that we haven't been there before so we'd like to have a moment to look at the menus. Well, this seemed to tick her off. She stomped off after telling us the drink specials. I opted for one of the vodka drinks out of the menu that was obviously provided by the vodka compay, co-diner opted for the margarita special. She came back to take our order, I ordered my drink along with a water and she started to leave. I hollered "WHOA" at her, "Hey, this other person at my table wants to have something to drink too" that seemed surprising to her. Anyway, about 15 minutes passed, she came by once to tell us our drinks would be there soon. We'd looked at the menu and were already feeling a little doomed by our service, so we'd decided to share an appetizer and run away as fast as we could. We ordered cups of soup and a slider trio and she ran off again. Finally our drinks came. I'm not bar afficianado. The margarita was one of those cloudy mixes, but it was tolerable. My drink was one of those frat boy drinks that comes in what looks like a cap off a spray paint can. It was alcohol, but it was disappointing. I didn't really want a room temperature drink that tasted like it was mixed in a bathtub. Too quickly, a runner brought our soup. I had chicken tortilla and she had baked potato. It was ICE COLD. I can share with you the recipe for my soup: 1 can of cream of chicken soup a sprinkle of spices dump the can of soup into a cup and put some chinese noodles on top with some cheese Gross. Later a runner brought out our sliders. The sliders looked promising. I do hate when they don't bother to toast the bun. What was funny was that each burger was a different size. The onion tanglers on top were COLD. The meat was tasty. We spent about $30 on 2 drinks, 2 soups and an appetizer. Embarassing. One thing nice is, we won't have to bother going there again.

Good food. Always nice and busy. Good service and fun atmosphere. I use to work nearby and always got the Alaskan salmon burger. Sooo good. Its a fun and decent place for a bar and grill.
(3)Alice H.
Typical spot for bar food and drinks. Overall it's decent spot... Good for watching sports games. Tonight ordered the jalapeño poppers when meeting up with friends. Seemed pretty overpriced for just 6 small pieces that I could have gotten frozen from store for 1/2 the cost.
(3)Alex W.
The food tasted great and they have great deals. However, I got the cowboy burger last night and I got very sick from it and I feel like I got hit by a truck right now. Will not be getting food here again.

This is a great place for a quick beer and space to hang out. Sometimes the service is a little slow, but that might just be the kitchen. We usually go on Mondays when there's a half price special on burgers if you get a drink (soda, beer, anything but water.) It's almost always packed at lunch time and if there's a KU/KState/Mizzou game, be sure to get there at least an hour before gametime. Once the game starts, this place doesn't move much, everyone is fixated on the screens. That being said - this is a great place to watch sports events. There are televisions everywhere and you can always fine someone to talk about the game with and cheer with (or against.) Food is good, but we've had super slow kitchen service too many times to give five stars.

Lately I've been finding that I've been frequenting Austin's more and more. It's a great neighborhood bar. Besides there being great drink specials on a daily basis, let me tell you why I like it more than some other places in the area. The service. It's consistent and friendly. I've never had a grumpy grumperson server, and I am never waiting long for a drink or food. Everyone is friendly....from the hostess, to the servers, to the managers. The food. It's really good bar food. Their chicken nachos are great. You can either get shredded chicken or grilled and I always go with the grilled. For some reason, their jalapenos seem to be hotter than other places...strange, I know. They also have a variety of burgers and they are half price all day Monday! Where else can you get a burger and fries for around 5 bucks?! The burgers are huge and always juicy. The atmosphere. It's a great place to watch a game. Tons of TVs and the place is packed. When there is a local team playing, everyone in the bar is there to watch so it does get loud and crazy. The place is split up into separate rooms and there isn't a bad seat in the house. On gamedays though, get there early because you won't be able to get a seat! Overall, Austin's is a great neighborhood bar.

I've been here twice, once on a weeknight and the other on a weekend. I must say that I enjoyed the weeknight much better. Once the place gets busy the service begins to suffer and becomes kind of a clusterf*ck in there. Prices are average but the burger I had there was very good. I'm not out in Olathe much but when I am I usually end up at Austins one way or another.
(3)Jesse E.
Burgers are very good but drinks have a tendency to be weak and not well made (whatever happened to a bartender who could make a drink without using a mix from a bottle?). Also, don't sit near the door to the patio unless you want to be overwhelmed by a big cloud of cigarette smoke every time the door opens (yuck!). I thought Olathe had a law that says you cannot smoke within 10 feet of a door ... Austins needs to begin enforcing it.
(2)Kelly S.
Service is top notch . Food Is not up to the prices charged though. Can get tight ergonomics are not good , needs a re design .
(2)David H.
Austins=Home. I have been coming to Austins for the past 20 years! It has changed a lot over the years but always for the better. The service is the best in Olathe, the strong and affordable, and the food is delicious. The nachos, El Fuego burger, and Cajun shrimp is the best! They also have a great rotation of seasonal beers. This is a place where everyone really does know your name!

Ugh, I just couldn't get comfortable here. Had it not been for some really great company and one last chance to see my cousin before she blows town, I would have blown this place. I am in the minority it seems, because this place was very crowded. We wedged our car between a conga line of pick up trucks and followed in some dudes in their best sweatshirts. My eyes were fried with beer lights, games and glowing tv's in every direction. This bar is BRIGHT! Sort of reminds me of Tanners on steroids, but then i kind of liked Tanners. Don't expect to have a conversation here without the other person diverting their eyes every 10 seconds to a tv above your head. Believe me, I have been in plenty of sports bars and there is just something about this place that is unsettling. Too bright, too big, weird layout with all these broken up rooms and uncomfortable seating. I have to admit, service was good. We decided to order food and my chicken caesar was fresh and crisp. My partner had a terrifically disappointing hamburger. So disappointing that the next day, he wanted to hit Five Guy's for redemption. Five Guys and eye-drops to kill the burn.
(2)Lisa B.
This bar is ranked #1 in my book for everything! Its clean! Even the health inspector eats there! Great drink specials! Awesome food -t here is'nt a better bar in town when it come to their food selection or quality! They have 33 flat screen TV's and several games to play. In my opinion, they have the BEST inclosed patio in town. Even though I don't smoke its nice to have a place you can go to in the winter that has a heated patio for smokers. Thats where I take my mom who has to smoke while she eats. They also have 2 TV's on the patio so you can watch the game outside as well. They make just about everything from scratch and have the best chicken fingers you have ever had! not to mention ---Half Priced burgers on Mondays too!
(5)Scott M.
Best "Bar Burger" & fries in Johnson County & possibly in all of Kansas City. East side locals are there 7 days a week which is very telling about the longevity of this establishment. Everyone there is friendly with one exception, KU & K-State rivalry is alive & well at Austins!
(5)Henry Z.
Went acouple times for the burger specials, which now starts at $4.99 base + toppings and such. The burgers are pretty decent in size and taste. Ordered a Hawaiian burger and later realised they don't have teriyaki sauce which was odd because it's a staple ingredient in that burger. That was a bummer but their fries are pretty good, crispy and has bits of cheesy stuff over them similar but not like garlic fries
(4)Chris D.
Austins is a bar for locals and regulars. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be great for the average business traveler or a group of drinkers stranded in south Olathe. I'm just saying that I tend to see the exact same groups of people here every single time I come. Not necessarily a bad thing, on the contrary, it provides a kind of "everybody knows your name" feel. That is of course if you are a local or a regular. The food here is above average bar fare. Every item on the menu (with a few exceptions) is just a little better than at other bars in the area. I can't count the number of times I've had their Alaskan Joe sandwich; a decent (likely previously frozen) grilled fillet of salmon topped with avocado, tomato, sprouts, and dill mayo; by far my favorite bar sandwich in all the KC Metro. They offer a twist on the typical buffalo wings and tenders called delgado style. Basically they take a wing or tender that has already been fried and sauced and they throw it back in the fryer for a minute, infusing the buffalo sauce into the breading and making it extra crispy. Delgado breaks up the buffalo wing monotony. As the 4 stars indicates Austins is above average compared to others in the area. But, I'm a local and probably a bit biased. P.S. I have to weigh in on the burgers as other posters have declared them as 5 star. I adamantly disagree with this. Although they may be a great deal on Mondays at half price, they are average at best. If you have had Town Topic, Blanc, or Grandstand (one of my favorites), you will understand what I mean.

Austin's in Olathe is a great bar and grill for our weekly date night. It is close to home and we always see people we know there! The service is great, drink specials and variety of good food. Lots of TV's to watch your favorite sport teams and Nascar!
(4)Scott L.
Fantastic burgers (the best in KC in my opinion); made even better with the burger bar where you can doctor up your burger with any fixings you desire. Austins is a relaxed atmosphere and is locally owned; the managers and owners are always around and make sure everyone is taken care of (rare in this time of chains and impersonal cust service). Wait staff is very outgoing, keep your drinks filled and are very attentive. Great place to go with a group to watch your fav sporting event or just hang out and have a beer. Nice diverse menu and everything I've had has been outstanding (again, the burgers are the highlight but the buffalo chix wrap, steak sandwich, hot wings and, suprisingly for a sports bar, mahi mahi, are also favs).
(5)Brett B.
One of my favorite places to go in Olathe. Excellent food, polite staff and great atmosphere. Love the specials every day too.
(5)Kim N.
Monday nights 1/2 price burger nights are the best time to go. Good wait staff and fast drink refills. I love the condiment bar where you go get your own toppings for your burger. Fries are nice and crispy. We go there for lunch and dinner. Nice home town bar. Drink specials are pretty good too.
(4)Doug R.
Great place to grab a beer and some good bar food. Nachos are great and so is Tumbleweed burger. Great prices and half price appitizers before 6 or after 10 pm.
(5)Kelly D.
I have eaten at Austin's twice. Once with a big group and tonight with my family (2 adults, 3 kids). I have to say the I think the food is GREAT bar food. My husband had the Burger of burgers and raved about it. I had chicken strips and fries. They were good- the honey mustard was to die for. I had the same server both times and she was very attentive. I didn't like how when I asked the young man who delivered my food for ketchup, he directed me to a "condiment bar" at the back of the restaurant. I think with three kids, he could have brought us some ketchup. I thought it was a little weird. But here's my biggest problem with Austin's- you know that sunporch where all the smokers hang out? EVERY TIME the door opened, we could smell the cigar (nasty) and cigarette smoke. I didn't like that. Not at all. oh- and if you are going with any intention of having a conversation, forget about it. It's way too loud to talk.
(2)Jessica F.
I really enjoy this place! Go here for lunch on average 3 times a week!! (its close to the office) The people that work there are great! Lisa is a great bartender and you will find her there weekdays. Robin is our fav server, but the other girls are great too!! On to the food... it is pretty good! The Mahi sandwhich is yummy, as is the Alaskan Joe (if you go in and ask for a salmon BLT, they will know that you have talked to me lol). Steer clear of the dips (spin dip and the queso dip). They just are not good. And I know for a fact that they keep the spin dip for up to 5 days after they make it (the manager told me when I asked how old it was cuz it tasted like fish) Fingers and fries always a hit. great daily lunch specials. Lots of flat screen TV's all over the place along with a room in the back that has Silver Strike, Golden Tee, a driving game, a shooting game and a punching bag game. All around a good time at a fun place! There is something to be said for a place that has been around awhile, and still has a great staff that really care about the customers!!!
(4)ME E.
Burgers are good. Mondays are half-price burgers so you can get a good deal. Service can be hit or miss: sometimes good, sometimes slow.
(3)Rick T.
Nice neighborhood place to stop for a beer and catch a game. Food is on par with other sports bars. Sometimes a little loud so not the kind of place to go on a date but if you want to get away from the kids for a little while this place is the best.
(3)kien t.
Great local place and good food. Good place if you are in the area
