I actually stopped here not for the Brewgrille but for the part of the store that was a "coffee shop" I went in with the intention of staying and knitting for a while while I enjoyed my latte but left. There was one large booth in the corner, A woman was working in a second booth and third booth was empty. The atmosphere was definitely not one of a coffee or espresso bar. My 24 oz latte was was weak. I suspect it only had two and maybe three shots of espresso, The overwhelming flavor of my latte was the steamed milk. I'd skip a return visit, at least for the coffee bar.

The outside of the restuarant sure makes it look less classy than it is on the inside. While this restuarant has a good ambience, the waitstaff aren't superior and are often frenzied during the lunch rush of the business crowd. The sweet potato fries are definitely good, but when I got them, some were soggy with grease and I could only eat about half of my portion. The first time I went, I got the chinese chicken salad, which had a really good dressing and a good mix of vegetables. The second time I went, I got the mustang chicken sandwich, which was a chicken breast served on grilled slices of regular bread. The menu said it was extra spicy, but it really wasn't, just a chicken breast with spices on it. The ranch that it comes with, however is really good and good with the sweet potato fries. I wouldn't recommend the 'steak fries'-- they are basically a potato cut into 4 sections and don't have much flavor. Overall, I think that Lucky Brewgrille is trying really hard to 'class up' their resturant- judging from the fancy, easy to navigate website and the decor inside. They are trying to craft a unique menu and I think that for a lot of people, it serves as their 'regular' lunch spot. They offer free wi-fi, a downstairs sports bar (which I haven't been to), and an attached coffee/expresso cafe which offers several different flavored syrups, has friendly staff, and reasonable prices. While the food isn't amazing, they do have reasonable prices and the atmosphere makes it a good lunch spot. While some other places may offer more flavorful and unique dishes, if you are looking for a local place to get a quick bite to eat, I'd recommend Lucky.

The sweet potato fries were good, the beer battered chicken was delectable, the kids meal fries were nice potato rounds, the salad greens were fresh, the price was reasonable. Our waitress was attentive without being annoying. I'm not a fan of condiments in general, and they have a lot, but they were all on the side. We'd go back.

I never give a review unless i visit an establishment three times. Went to Lucky Brewgrille last night (3rd visit) and it has impressed me all three times. As others have stated, their sweet potatoe fries are awesome as well as their spinach and artichoke dip. Service was excellent and maybe i just got lucky, but the waitresses were cheerful, knew the menu and kept our water glasses full. Ordered their Pork, Chicken and Pasta plates and all were very delicious. I definitely recommend.

A nice bar. A bit overpriced, but good service and a decent beer selection. The sweet potato fries are excellent.

The restaurant is not too bad if you're looking for some decent food, however this review is for the COFFEE AND ESPRESSO CAFE attached to the Lucky Brewgrille. Do not get drinks there. I would suggest McDonalds or gas station coffee over this. I waited way too long for an employee to even notice me waiting to order. I Actually had to yell to someone in the kitchen to get them to notice me. I ordered an iced coffee with cream and flavored syrup. The waitress got a cup of ice and pumped coffee from an urn that was labeled as "last brewed at 12:40PM." It was 6:30PM. (the other coffee urn was labeled as "last brewed at 1:30" (not much better). Then I paid $5 for my watered-down old coffee. I had a friend with me who ordered a similar drink and got the same "quality" coffee. Somehow his tasted burnt and disgusting.

Very good food for a $9-$12 entree. My wife and I can't stop ordering the steak quesadillas. A friend loves the steak salad. They have killer sweet potato fries, but they're sometimes soggy -- ask for them extra crispy and they are perfect! They have big screen TV's with the games on, but the atmosphere is more spiffy than a sports bar. The service is friendly but not fast, so tell them if you're in a hurry. They have a good local comedy group in the big private room downstairs once a month or so. Live music some nights.
(4)Aimee W.
Ok so this bar is down the road from my old office so we would go there for happy hour often. The beer is ok. Not a huge selection but enough. The service is ok. The food is ok although the bruschetta is delicious. It is ok for a quick happy hour. I've had better but I've definitely had worse.
(3)Steve S.
A sports bar having Obama watch parties, I'll spend my money somewhere else.

It had been years since I had ventured into Lucky Brewgrille and am thinking it may be worth the bit of a drive to go back. I was there for a philanthropy club meeting and the waiter was perfectly attentive. I had the Cajun chicken quesadillas and they were scrumptious. Plenty of spicy (flavorful with a touch of spice) chicken and loaded with onions, peppers and corn....all held together with some gooey pepper jack cheese. The lady beside me had one of the best (and biggest) chicken Caesar salads I'd ever seen and tiny thing that she was, ate almost every bite. Another person raved about the fish-n-chips. On the down side, my dear husband wasn't overly impressed with the roast beef sliders. The menu had certainly changed in the 8 or so years since I'd last visited and I am looking forward to going back for a drink and watch a football game and try some of the menu recommendations found on Yelp!
(3)Bruce R.
Stopped here on my way to a meeting because I saw the "Coffee and Espresso" sign on the outside. So apparently there is a cafe attached to the Brewgrille. It was not bad, not a lot of ambiance, but a decent Americano. A few tables, so if you need a place to park for a minute this will do.
(3)Kristen S.
Lucky is extremely inconsistent, and the food is often mediocre. However there are a couple of menu items I really like, namely the Sweet Potato Fries with ranch dressing and the Cobb Salad. The barbecue chicken salad is quite good also. Beware though, you will never get the same salad twice! Nice atmosphere.
(2)Erik R.
Lucky's is a semi-swank semi-sports bar with above sports bar food. My favorite foods are anything they serve on a skewer. I've also had a burger and it was pretty solid. I'd probably give it four stars, but the service has been slow a few times, not bad, just not the best either. The prices are really good, if someone was to ask me what the best $15 meal (drink and main dish) is in the city, I'd be hard pressed to come up with one that comes in above Lucky's. They are not a pure sports bar, but there are plenty of TV's. Overall its a good place.
(3)Erin L.
I like the atmosphere and some of the events they hold downstairs. The menu is hit-and-miss, and never tastes the same way twice. I'll be the 3rd person to compliment the sweet potato fries, though - they're awesome. Some of their unique drinks are good as well.
(3)jennifer j.
I kept going back because sweet potato fries are hard to find. One day I realized, there is really nothing else on the menu i really like. I like the hamburgers, but I don't like them on Texas toast.
(2)John R.
Cool place off the beaten path! We are here for lunch, the wife got brunch and we were very happy with the food the service and the atmosphere. The French dip type sandwich was extra scrumptious with a hint of horseradish. Yum
(4)Karen L.
Best fried pickles I've ever had!!!!!! Actually, everything there is delish! Alexandra, in the coffee shop, is a doll too!! Love this place!!!
(5)Long B.
Great place to hang out if you're a fellow K-Stater. Friend suggested the place because we wanted to watch the KU game. Walking in, there are TV's everywhere and a huge projection setup with the game on. The seating is spacious and comfortable. Service wise, they were very quick to seat us and take our orders. Perhaps because it was a slow day? Anyways we only came for the game and drinks. They have tons of seasonal drink specials. They were a bit expensive, but honestly they were well made and worth it. Can't comment on their food as I haven't had it. Would definitely come back at some point when I stop by in KC.
(4)Claudia S.
I don't come here a lot. It's good enough, but never great. Next time, I swear I will get a hamburger -- the hamburgers always are good. The waffle fries were really yummy. This place isn't bad or anything, it's just kind of meh to me.

Headed here for dinner on Friday night with my husband and son. We all had definite cravings when we walked in the door. Mine was chicken strips, my husband's was calamari and my son's was grilled cheese - so that's what we ordered (with sweet potato fries). None of us were disappointed. In fact, I've never seen my two-year-old scarf down a sandwich so quickly. Our server told me that they made their own batter and hot sauce for the chicken strips. They were lightly breaded so it actually made more sense to eat them with a fork and knife, which was fine with me. That also made them seem a lot less heavy. They also had live music playing among the various sports being broadcast on all of the TVs (the one closest to us had softball playing). Another great plus, the kid's menu is only $2.99 (including drink and side). Well worth it! The brunch also looks really good, so we look forward to returning to try it too.
(4)Joe P.
Amazing food.Honestly one of the best bar and grills I have been to. The appetizer menu is strong I am always torn between the calamari and the skewer trio. Their steaks are super tender and the price is awesome. The service is outstanding. I have been here at least 10 times and never left disappointed. Also try their brunch.

Went to the Lucky during the basketball tournament and had seafood skewers. The kitchen did a nice job of preparing the dish. They have something for everybody so it's a great place for families and groups - appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, steaks, seafood, pastas, etc. Also have an event room downstairs which was very active when we were there. The staff is friendly and extremely attentive. Good drinks and a great bar selection. Complete video monitor coverage and also a big screen on which we enjoyed watching the basketball game. Nice to have both the owner and the manager stop by our table to make sure we were having a good time. They really do a nice job of making you feel welcome. My wife and I like after dinner coffees and we were surprised on our first visit to find out they also have a specialty coffee house next door. We haven't tried the weekend brunches but plan to in the near future as the weather improves. Consistently good and well maintained bar and grill. It's becoming one of our favorite places to go.

Hosted a birthday party in the private basement area for approx. 80 people. Amy coordinated. Very smooth experience and satisfied ending. Felt pricing was reasonable and there were no unexpected charges. Had an appetizer buffet with food service and arrival of guests timed perfect. Cash bar with 2 wonderful waitresses. Set up was perfect for mingling with low top tables, booths, high tops and general standing room. Offered multiple TV's for a photo slide show DVD as well as Royals game. Bruchetta was amazing and so were steak skewers. Great experience.
(5)Tosha E.
The three star rating is for the overall experience. The restaurant was extremely hot while we were there, and the service wasn't anything to brag about. I will say that the food was amazing! The table ordered an Inside Out Burger, Shrimp and Bacon Club, and a steak- all YUMMY! Definitely worth a shot!
(3)Lauren M.
So this review is for their coffee shop next door. I love their cinnamon roll latte. Its sweet, creamy and very tasty. The girl barista is super sweet and is always very friendly. She's the reason why I keep coming back. Plus their regular coffee had good bold flavors and they usually have 3 blends to choose from. Great service and great drinks.
(5)Becky W.
Really good food and friendly services.
(4)Lori M.
Great food. Been here so many times, I think I have tried everything! Wait staff is great.
(5)Amanda S.
I am going to be the odd one out regarding other reviews. My husband and I used to frequent Lucky Brewgrille because of it's close proximity to our house. But, the last few times we have been it's been eh...blah food and not great service. I think the food's quality isn't worth the price. The service has been iffy at best. It's either on or off; never in between. It seems like most of the customers are ones who have been going there forever and are satisfied with the stale atmosphere. It's too bad because Mission doesn't have a lot of good dining choices.
(2)Michael P.
Had several good, but not great, meals at Lucky's over lunch and dinner time. Also been to their downstairs lounge for two private parties. Standard fare of what you'd expect from a bar and grill, sandwiches, burgers, etc... The bar scene is pretty lively on the weekends and the bartenders are friendly, quick to refill a drink, and always positive. Servers in the restaurant are also exude similar qualities - quick, friendly, and knowledgeable. I'm not sure what's missing here, but as another reviewer said, this place has the potential to be great. To use a sports analogy, I think Lucky's is like the first round draft pick with the flashes of greatness but who doesn't always show up for the big game. You keep giving the prospect a chance at excelling and they pleasantly surprise you most of the time, but still lack the big play capability. Will definitely go back, hang out with friends, eat, drink and be merry in the future. If you get a chance, try their brunch - had a great meal here a couple Sundays back.
(3)Carl N.
We go here occasionally for dinner they have a good hamburger and good steak fries. They also have a good bacon shrimp hoagie sandwich. Have an excellent drink menu selection and the staff is fast and courteous. They also have a coffee bar next door which serves a variety of hot and cold coffee and other beverages along the tea and hot chocolate line. We often come here to meet friends for drinks or a quick dinner it seems to be a central location between Johnson County and downtown. It is definitely a K-state bar and you'll see a lot in case K-state memorabilia. They have a downstairs private area in the basement. It is the party room where we have gone for wedding receptions and other get-togethers. They usually have several local beers on tap and a variety of other beers the cocktail menu is fairly large and changes often.
(4)Rob A.
The black and bleu steak is excellent. Their breakfast sandwiches are yummy and varied, and a very good deal.
(4)Thomas A.
Really enjoyed this place. Went to lunch here with Aunt Cha Cha last Saturday. The home made chili is faboo! I had a big bacon cheeseburger. Didn't care for the fries but that's my fault because I chose the wrong ones. The burger was like one cooked at home and lots of it too. Very good. The server was on top of things and kept making sure we were ok. Had two glasses of ice cold, crisp Harp beer to go with. Excellent lunch experience. They have a big menu. Will be back for sure.
(4)Sara J.
This place has got it together. Great wait staff and awesome food. The kids menu is great and very affordable. I've never had anything I didn't like. Everything is always so fresh and the people are very friendly. My favorite is the Sunday brunch menu.
(5)Jillian C.
Came in on a Friday night after bowling and the place was dead. My group of 8 ladies was pretty much the life of the nonexistent party. I didn't have anything to eat because nothing on the bar menu (the only thing they serve that late at night) was gluten free or even really un-fried for that matter. Suppose that was mostly what I expect from a bar though. Drinks were decently priced with $4 house wines and $3 beers. Eh, okay. Just overall underwhelmed. Perhaps I'll try this place again on the a different night and not so late.
(2)Raquel W.
I was in last week and just want to let you know the service at the bar was great! Jeff answered questions on the menu and continued to give great service all night. (often at a bar you do not get this) He made suggestions that were helpful. I had a salmon Caesar salad and loved it. Salmon was cooked perfect and the salad was huge. I love that you have Tank 7! as well. Keep up the great work!!
(5)Connor B.
I've only gone to the coffee shop associated with it. The music is soft and the prices are pretty fair. On the coffee side of things, I really enjoy their Highlander Grog blend. My only complaint is that there seems to be only one outlet for computer charging, located on the South wall.
(3)Carolyn W.
Decided to buy a groupon type deal since we hear about this place on the radio all the time. Bit of a drive but did enjoy on an early Saturday evening. Waitress was friendly, helpful, and professional. Atmosphere was nice. Great big screen tv if you wanted to watch the game. I had a sangria - heaven. Calamari for an appetizer was delicious. I ordered steak for dinner and it was average. My husband loved his burger. Ordered bread pudding to take home and I ended up giving it to a friend because it was so sweet. All in all a pleasant experience but doubt I would go back due to the drive and having so many bar type restaurants still to try in the area .
(3)Mai H.
I was in town for a business trip in KC and went here for a happy hour. I ordered calamari and it was ok. You can tell it was the cheap frozen brand. I wished they offered better happy hour choices. I ended up ordering one of the local Kansas brew - Boulevard instead. Next time, I will opt to drink at the hotel.
(2)Beth P.
Good drink specials, good burger, and service was just fine. Place was empty, but we did go 30 minutes before close mid-week. It's right around the corner, so we'll definitely be back.
(3)Troy O.
This place has the potential to be GREAT. Honestly the food here is pretty good. As others have said the Sweet fries are good. The Service I have had here is awful. Its not all of the folks. Some are good but overall my service experiences have been bad. They have great TVs for sports events and better than average food for a place to watch games. IF they fix the service here this place would easily be a 5 star sportsbar!
(3)Kim N.
I really like Lucky Brewgrille. First of all the last 6 months I have been reserving the coffee house area for a meeting once a month and our waitress Lily is Awesome. She remembers our drink orders every time. This last week I sat down and she said be write back with your Chocolate Ale because they still had some on tap and she knew I loved it. She also remembered everyone's beer or drink order and brought them in. Which impressed me since we only see her once a month. Sometimes we order food and sometimes just booze and coffee, they are always nice and let us sit there as long as our meetings take. The dining area is just as good. Love the Shrimp Po Boy with Avocado and Bacon. Their burgers are good and the club too. They have Steak Fries which are incredible. They have a basement you can reserve for parties or a get together. This is also one of our stops on St. Patty's day when we head back from Westport. Even if the food were just a 4 the service and wait staff brings it to a 5. They also have WiFi you just have to ask for the password.

I'm a fan by default: Lucky's is only a few blocks from my house. They recently got a new menu~this usually makes me think they just raised the prices; however, some of their prices actually seemed to go down. It's almost better to pick up food to go from here because as many others have said, service is extremely slow. Even when the place is practically empty (it usually is). The grilled chicken cobb salad is delicious; I sub goat cheese and get extra grilled red onions. Their grilled crab quesadilla is another favorite - it's pretty spicy and has a great cilantro pesto cream sauce drizzled on top. On Sunday, I went for my first Lucky's brunch experience. I was surprisingly impressed. The CA Omelet was huge; it would have been better without the meat, but for $9 it was a steal. The wheat toast was twice as thick as normal bread, and twice as yummy. My bf was able to order gluten free too. Just ask, and they'll cook things in a separate pan. He had bacon, scrambled eggs, and veggies. It's always a gamble when a restaurant doesn't have a "gluten free" menu, but he didn't get sick. In fact, he ordered a second helping of peppers and avocado to mix in with his eggs, and 20+ minutes later they appeared. The server said it took so long because they realized the cook didn't use a clean pan, so they remade it. At least this slow service had an explanation. It is sort of a random place with an identity crisis. Part coffee shop, part sports bar (especially K-State), part dance club, part live music venue (check it out when Lost Wax plays there!), part patio bar, and part dark wood/trying to be classy restaurant. Prices are reasonable though and food is worthy!
(4)Dan A.
Surprisingly good salads and healthy choices in a neighborhood sports bar. Get the chicken Cobb..filled with nicely grilled chicken breast, fresh avocados and a flavorful balsamic vinaigrette..also tasty and simple is the Heavenly Pasta...Fresh tomato and artichokes over spaghetti. Avoid KU game nights if you want a quieter dinner. The place is like a noisy barn. Friendly staff but zero atmosphere.
(3)Kenna B.
I honestly have no idea why the ratings for this place are so low. I've been coming to Lucky Brewgrille for at least 6 years, and the food is always good. Although this is a sports bar, several of their menu items stand out from the standard bar fare. Lucky's Lacquered skewers are my absolute favorite! Three skewers of chicken, beef, and shrimp complemented by a slightly sweet glaze. They serve it with peanut sauce and a spicy ranch (I think), but the skewers don't need any dipping sauces they are so delicious! The steak laquered skewer also tops their steak salad if you're in the mood to pretend to eat healthy (let's be honest, dousing lettuce in dressing counteracts anything the lettuce can do for you. But they do put the dressing on the side....). I've also tried their Yahoo chicken strips (pretty standard), but their quesadillas are pretty amazing. Even the seafood one...who would have guessed? They also offer some pretty tasty apps. Spinach dip is great, crab dip is just okay. Love the pita bread that comes with them. The bar makes a decent Long Island, and the Margaritas are $3 every Tuesday. They also have specials on beer, but I never pay attention to those since I don't drink beer. This place has it all: the food, the drinks, and the projector broadcasting your favorite sports team winning...(hey, a girl can dream, right?) The service is the only thing that can hold this place back from being a stellar sports bar. It depends on who you get. The waiter we usually get is fantastic, but several of the waitresses always disappear after they drop off your food. This is fine, unless you need something or are ready for your check.
(4)Diana L.
I feel like I wish I could give Lucky's two separate reviews. It's sort of a multiple personality type of establishment and I enjoyed some aspects more than others. We went to watch the K-State v. KU basketball game, knowing it was a K-State bar from our time at K-State in the late 90s, when we spent many a Saturday night celebrating a K-State football victory at the original Lucky's. We arrived in time to order food upstairs and have a couple of drinks at the bar. The bar service was attentive and friendly. We had the buffalo wings and nachos. The nachos were good, though my husband wished they had been offered with a meat option. I didn't think to inquire about that, so they may have been willing to add something. Who knows. The buffalo wings were a bit strange in that they included the entire wing (who does that?), but the flavor was good. We loved the atmosphere downstairs for the game, though. It's always fun to watch a big game with other fans of your team and living in Lawrence we knew we had to go somewhere else to get that for a K-State v. KU game. The owner Greg is as much a K-State fanatic as my husband, which is really saying something, and we had a blast hanging out & watching the game with him. Bottom line for me is that we'll definitely return for K-State events, but we wouldn't go out of our way to return for the food.
(3)Dev V.
Pretty much the only sports bar in the area, so they get some business. I go here for work happy hours from time to time, but that's about it. Pretty sub par food, the decor leaves little to be desired, and it seems the servers here were the rejects of other restaurants. Damn, I sound negative! Hey, gotta be honest.
(2)C L.
We used to frequent this place to "get low" several years ago. We considered it a bar/club as the lower floor was dark, had strobe lights, a DJ, dance floor, and bouncers. But at this recent visit, I dined upstairs like a normal adult. And surprise, surprise. There were some decent eats. I had the Lacquered Skewers. I opted out of chicken, and asked to just have the beef and shrimp. Tasty! Described as "Polynesian", they had a slightly sweet glaze, and were served with peanut sauce. I also had one of my friend's scallops from her skewer, and it was divine. Complete with garlic mashed potatoes and haricot verts, I could've sworn we were somewhere a notch or two more upscale. I was very pleased. Minus the lack of attention to our table, my visit was surprisingly good. I wish I lived closer so I could convince my crew to flock to this bar instead of our usuals. I'm excited to try more fare here.
(3)Emily S.
Really enjoyed the food, and the ambiance was a lot of fun too! Happy hour specials are good, and really enjoy when they have music.
(5)Jordan B.
Found this little gem when I was waiting on a car service at Goodyear across the street. First tried nearby Clarette, which was a disappointment. Then we headed to Lucky's with somewhat low expectations and were pleasantly surprised! We found seats at the bar during happy hour, which included $5 martinis, and then house wine and boulevard drafts both of which I can't remember the price, but it was decent. The crowd was a little older but entertaining and the atmosphere was fun. We had roasted red pepper hummus, which tasted exactly like the one I bought from Trader Joe's and not homemade, but was served with warm pita which was excellent. We didn't try any other food, but I really liked the mix of the not-quite-fine-dining-but-still-classy restaurant with the fun vibe in the bar area. I spotted several things on the expansive menu that I would like to come back and try, including brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. I was also informed by the friendly bartender that they have NFL Sunday ticket which will be a good way to drag my homebody husband down here. And, as a Wildcat, I was very happy to learn that they show K-State games! I didn't look downstairs, but was told when it gets busy on game days they will open up the banquet room downstairs that used to be a club and show games on the big screen. Will update after trying a gameday and more food.

I really love the food here; they have a large, unique variety and everything I've had has always been really great. They have a great Happy Hour, plus I really like their outdoor patio when the weather is nice to hang outside and have a few drinks with friends. Great place, locally owned, and that huge chocolate chip cookie thing is seriously addictive.
(5)Josh M.
D+ As a K-Stater I really wanted to like this place. Spent the early part of my college career in the late-late nineties at the original Lucky's in Aggieville. And in full disclosure I've only been to the Lucky's in Mission once. That being said.. This place blows. No ambiance. Mediocre menu (however, they do have the big buffalo wings, hence the second star). I'd rather spend my money at JJ's Other Place. And do!
(2)Michael C.
Great venue for Democratic functions (Second Saturday, Happy Hour, election night watch parties).
(5)Bradley H.
Order the sweet potato fries. This place is different from other sport's themed places for a few reasons. One, the staff is actually friendly and helpful. Two, it's pretty inexpensive for the quality of food you get (you can easily, with several options, get an app, two entrees, two drinks, and a dessert for under $30). Three, there are televisions, but they are not overwhelming; if you want to watch sports, do that, if it isn't your thing, still consider this place an option; the volume is low enough that you can easily tune it out. Also, they do weekend brunch as an alternative to the lunch menu.
