VERY cool small-town diner. So fun. Great food. Great portion sizes. Great waitstaff. You can sit on a stool at the counter or in a booth. Everybody talks to everybody else across the tables. Love this place. If you want to visit a hometown diner, this would be it.

We arrived at 1:05 pm after not eating all morning and they told us they closed at 1:00 pm on a Saturday. Why did yelp say they close at 2:00 pm? We wasted our gas and time because of this. Please fix your hours on Yelp! And I really wanted to try one of those cinnamon rolls :-(

I used Yelp to find the best breakfast in town as I was passing through. I give this place a mixed review. The biscuits and gravy were good though a little peppery. The pancakes and French toast were tasty. The menu was reasonably priced. The coffee was not good and my first cup was downright nasty. I was surprised when the waitress said that most people think their coffee is good but maybe my standards for coffee are different. The wait time to get our food was ridiculous. We must have waited 30 minutes easily while only one cook prepared everything. Building it was in created for a long and narrow configuration, which was crowded and a little closer than I would have liked.

About the only breakfast place in town that isn't Perkins. About on par as far as food quality goes. If you like the small town atmosphere and a cheaper price than neighbors is better than Perkins. Otherwise Perkins is cleaner.

Great food friendly service. We stopped here while visiting family. Had the hungry neighbor standard breakfast meal 2 eggs sausage patties and hash browns. I like my hash browns cooked a little bit longer but they were still good. Over all everything was great. Looks like half the town eats there.

Nice little place with full breakfast and lunch menu. The chicken steak is very moist and tender. However, the gravy has such a strong peppery flavor that it hard to tell whether the steak is actually flavored or not.

Being from NJ, Diners are a way of life and I was pleasantly surprised when I found one in the small town of McPherson, KS. The atmosphere is perfect for a Saturday morning, bustling with patrons and servers rushing around everywhere in a long, very narrow space. Service is a bit slow, but it's busy and worth it. A counter lines the one side, from which you can watch your food being cooked on the skillet. The prices are low, the servings large. My omelet and hash browns were cooked perfectly, and the coffee refills kept coming. The only thing missing is a local, fresh and organic focus, but I noticed I can't be too picky in Kansas. This place will be my weekend staple.

Just had breakfast at Neighbors Cafe. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome and part of the group. The food was great! Fun place to stop and check out.

If you want a delicious, cheap breakfast the way it should be served up at "diners" like Denny's and IHOP, this is the real deal. The proportions are huge and the price is right, and it is always busy. This means you might have to wait longer, but is an endorsement on the popularity of the cafe. If you're willing to wait, you can be put at a booth (or even a booth in the Kansas City Chiefs section) but if you come during the busy hours you might have to sit at the bar, where you can see them making pancakes, eggs, hash browns, etc. (both exciting and disturbing). PS: try the cinnamon roll, but be ready to take more than half of it home with you!

We read about Neighbors Cafe through your website and drove 4 miles off the Interstate to find it. We were not disappointed! It was everything the other review stated and more. The chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and white gravy were wonderful as was the daily special, spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread. We also enjoyed driving through the little town of McPherson. So much more interesting than eating at a chain along the Interstate!

This little hole in the wall restaurant located in downtown McPherson. Has become my new favorite place for breakfast. Open from 6a-2p the prices are amazingly cheap and the plates are full of wonderfully cooked bliss. Their famous cinnamon rolls are bigger than my head, extremely delicious and fun to share with friends.

Horrible food. The wait staff is slow. I walked in one time and looked at their special for the day. I opened the menu and it was the same price in the menu. I've never had a good experience.

The Good: This is the kind of place that would be featured on "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives". Food is always good and service is friendly. I recommend their chicken fried steak or fancy browns (hash browns with peppers, cheese, and ham). This is one of the best places to eat in McPherson, so I highly recommend it. The Bad: Service can be a bit slow, but that's because they're always busy and food's made fresh. They're not open for dinner (they keep small-town diner hours so they always open early but close at 2pm).
