Happy valley is the best authentic traditional Chinese restaurant in town, serving fresh and delicious foods. As a foodie, I almost eat here twice a week. Lunch special is very valuable and please don't miss their amazing HOT POT! You must be happy in this "valley":)

Ordered steamed dumplings first, best part of the meal. It was loud, hard to have a conversation. Had a family sitting next to us with three brat kids. Ordered cashew chicken, which was more like celery chicken. Few cashews and like two cups of undercooked celery. Even the steamed rice was horrible! How do you mess up steamed rice!?!? Service was slow and unprofessional. Side was barely carbonated. Table was wobbly. The worst Chinese meal of my life! Do not recommend.

The food is always cooked fresh to order and don't get me started on the garlic sauce. I put that stuff on everything

I thought the quality of the food was very high. Everything was fresh and came reasonably quickly. We had the moo shu and the walnut chicken. Both I thought were very good, but the moo shu was exceptional. You do pay for this quality. I thought the price was kind of high for being in the middle of Kansas and receiving only two wraps for the moo shu and having to pay extra for more was kind of stingy. I don't mind paying for quality food and good service though.

This is where all of the Chinese students at K-State go to eat, so you know it's the place you want to go. Holy crap, is it good.

Worst F%+^in Chinese restaurant in the city! Save your money and don't eat here! Wasted $30 on food that was just horrible. The Chinese server didn't know shit about there menu, I asked if there cashew shrimp had mayo and she said "yeah I think so" and so I ordered it. Cashew shrimp came out and the dish is dark like soy sauce been poured into it. I asked her about it and she was like "what's mayo?" Don't come here at all!!!

I might try this place again after reading more reviews and noting the items people like. For now I'll just say the egg rolls were stuffed with shredded cabbage by itself (uninteresting) and super greasy. My main dish of shrimp and veggies was tasty. I did not care for their version of fried rice. And the waitress was helpful, thoughtful, and actually cared. She was awesome. She is a five star waitress!

My review is for the hot pot only. For being in kansas this is pretty decent. I usually go for the spicy broth. It's all you can eat and they give you a wide variety of items. Thin slices of beef Thin slices of chicken Shrimp Chinese broccoli Regular broccoli Mushrooms Potatoes Egg noodles Rice noodles Just to name a few. You pay about $19 per person but it's worth it in my opinion.

Authentic Chinese food. There were some very exotic foods on the menu. Everything I tried was very good (Mongolian Pork, Crab Rangoon, Fried Dumplings). They even gave us a sample of a new menu item. Can't wait to go back and try some more. Maybe not the Ants Climbing Trees, whatever that is, lol.

Absolutely wonderful mu shu, shrimp and outstanding dumplings. Very fresh and lovely food and sweet women waiting tables. They do not speak fluent English but they try very hard to please the customers. Best Chinese food since we left the SF Bay Area. A little expensive but our go to place when we feel hungry for good Chinese.

Good Chinese food regardless of where you're at. Happy Valley, in Manhattan Kansas, is a family friendly, sit yourself, and stay as along as you like kind of restaurant. It is enjoyable dining at a bargin price. And yes, they serve Tsingtao. From what I've tried the food is delicious. The spicy eggplant melts in your mouth, the beef tendon is chewy yet soft, and the garlic suace which accompanies their spring rolls will blow your mind off. They let you know you've had a meal. And the white rice. The white rice is firm, but not crunchy, and soft, but not gummy. It has an airy structure where each grain is neatly stacked one apon the next. A necessary quality for dampening excess sauce from a scrumptous bite. A trait in rice which reminds you why its the worlds most popular grain. After spending a semester abroad in China, traveling from Beijing to Xian and Chengdu to Shanghai, I'd say the food at Happy Valley is respectable. My only gripes are for pots, snacks, and heat. For some reason they serve tea in pots fit for two. This is fine for a date or a casual meal, but if you plan to stay a while, and there is no need to rush, they could bring more tea. For the soup, they don't seem to offer a pot for the whole table. Their hot-n-sour soup is a balanced mix of bold flavors held a suprisingly light broth, and not too salty, so I figure they should let friends and family order a convenient supply. If only. While chuar is on the menu, they miss the novelty which comes from eating five little fleshy cubes: four meat and one fat. Say half an inch w-l-h. As is, it's a mouthful. Heat is something missing from the menu. Nothing labled Scheuan is spicy. Nothing makes my lips tingle. We can all get fresh pepper from the market, so why not perk up a dish? I mean, what else am I using my napkin for? These are small complaints, but if corrected could increase the value of the restaurant, well, at leat for me. Happy Valley is a satisfactory dinning experience. It's food you want to eat with a comfy atmosphere.

Went for the hot pot meal. You would pay an over the top price for frozen meat to put in the hot pot. Save your money and go some where else.

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city.
