Great lunch experience this summer. New management doing a good job - friendly service, good value for lunch with two or three roll options. Generous salad and soup included. Love the variety of rolls.

Not much of a fan of chicken or steak in my sushi rolls. I feel like this place tries to over do it, sometimes less actually is more. The service we received here was not the best either. I don't think it's worth a second visit.

So good and reasonably priced!! Sushi is amazing and for the location and far access to quality fresh seafood it's decent!

Bleh. Not terrible but not great. I've had some pretty awesome fish in my life, but this wasn't even close to great. Most of their stuff is tempura fried to mask this fact. The sushi was palatable, but when attempting the sashimi, I gave up. Especially the mackerel. Tasted like it was previously frozen, salted, and dried for three-plus days. I'd suggest going elsewhere in town for dinner.

We were a bit skeptical of this place due to the mixed reviews but we decided to go on the recommendation of a friend... And we're so glad we did! I love the fact that they still have a lunch menu on Saturday (most restaurants limit lunch to weekdays only). We sampled the pork katsu bento box, chicken and shrimp hibachi, & gyoza. The pork katsu box was delicious- it came with rice, katsu, 4 pc California rolls, and 2 pc gyoza. All were wonderful! My husband got the chicken and shrimp hibachi which he said while good, Umis hibachi tasted better overall- plus, they had a subpar Japanese yumyum sauce that didn't really even taste like it should've. Prices were great, bento box 8.95, 5 pieces of gyoza 3.95, and my husband's chicken and shrimp hibachi (from the dinner menu) for 14.95. Overall, great selection of Japanese cuisine and good rolls. We'll be back!

This little restaurant are getting better each month. Fish are all fresh. Owner many times drive to KC or fly to NY to get the top ingredients. Agedashi tofu and seaweed salad are the must for appetizers. If you are into fish, order the grilled Hamachi Kama with a can of Sapporo beer to start your meal. For hard core Jap food people, should ask the front counter Shushi chief what is fresh today and order them either Sashimi or Nikiri style. For lite dinners, try their standard rolls or Yaki Udon or Soba. One of the restaurant in Manhattan I won't mind to go each week. You'll will walk out of there feel light, healthy, not greasy but enjoyed.

I didn't come in with high hopes of quality sushi but here goes... Came on a weeknight for dinner with a friend. It was pretty busy because there was a large party taking up alot of the tables. Usually when you walk into any sushi restaurant in LA you are greeted with a hello (said in japanese) by all the sushi chefs. Not here. Anyways, we were seated. The menu is pretty standard japanese sushi restaurant. They obvi add rolls like the KSU roll, etc. But I decided to go with my standards since I wanted to try something safe. I got the rainbow roll and a side of veggie tempura. The tempura came out in probably 15 mins. Which is a little slow but whatever. The tempura itself was good. Although I have never had broccoli or a large onion ring as part of the normal side dish. Didn't eat the onion. And I also didn't get any tempura string beans. Weird. And now for the big complaint of the night. My friend's and I's rolls were made maybe 10 minutes after the tempura came out and sat on the bar counter. We literally stared at it for 30 minutes wondering if those were ours and where the heck our waitress was. She finally serves us those exact rolls. As for the rolls themselves, good by Kansas standards. Don't expect big quality pieces of fish or large rolls, but it's a step up from Dillons sushi. We finished both our plates and again sat around for 30 minutes waiting for the waitress to come with our check. Then she charges my friend twice and again we wait around for 10 minutes while she tries to fix the mistake. 2 hours for 1 roll and a side of tempura and $14 later we are done. This was a major ordeal and should not have taken this long. At least I can check this place off my list of places I wouldn't want to eat again.

Manhattan, Ks is the butthole of America... I'm sorry if I offend anyone... But it's the truth... So I came here on business... (Cause I have no clue who would visit this awful place) and I decided to use the powers that be (yelp) to find a sushi spot (I hear this place is known for barbecue, I don't eat that) so I found this place... 4 stars rating... Worth a try... I start out ordering a hot green tea... While I waited I asked the sushi chef what were the popular rolls here... He didn't speaka da Engwish... Which isn't a bad thing he looked Japanese (calm down people... Most of y'all non-blacks think all black people look alike...) just made me hope that the sushi would be AmazaBalls! Got my green tea... It was lukewarm.... Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo... The waitress was nice and brought me out another one... Which was hot... As I waited for my sushi I noticed a little bar with wine and beer... And a little sake... Looked pretty decent... Got my salmon sushi... It was ok... Like ... 2.8 star good... I've definitely had much better... But remember we're in Americas butthole... So hey... That's not to bad... My roll took forever to come... It was deep fried or something... Or had to be flown in from Japan... Cause I waited like 20 min for it... And it was not great... Like 2.2 great... Ughhhhhh... I hate this place...

Walked in on a rainy day with athletic shoes and found the floor to be extremely slippery. Must have been a buildup of tempura grease. Need to solve that problem before someone gets hurt!

Our first time here was super awkward. Our waiter lacked social skills and he approached the table just looking at us for a minute before saying what do you guys want? He also looked very dirty and greasy- sorry not someone I want handling my food. The sushi was great and it came out fairly quick. We have gone back several times and service is much better, haven't seen our previous waiter there again. They always seemed understaffed and the place always feels really dirty. The tables feel sticky, there are always flies bugging you, the servers wear their hair down( which is against Health code). The floor could use a cleaning and booths reupholstered. The bathroom is disgusting! And last time I was there the women's door was completely broken so I could not use it. I try not to think too much of how dirty everything else I can't see is because I really enjoy their sushi. I recommend getting it to go to avoid the unpleasant atmosphere.

We made an order for delivery. The confirmation said the wait time was 45-60 minutes. One hour and 30 minutes after I ordered, I called the restaurant to check up on our order, and all they said was that all orders for delivery were out. Two hours after I ordered I called again. I got the same answer. 2 hours and 10 minutes after we ordered we received our food. It was not great. While it was still warm (surprising due to the wait time) it was bland, unusually mooshy even for sushi, unimpressive.

When you click 4 stars on Yelp, it says "Yay! I'm a fan." And that's true...I'm a fan. And I find Green Tea to be better than a-okay (which is what the 3-star rating says). The sushi is really tasty and so are the noodle dishes and appetizers. The restaurant is pretty-looking (although the bathroom needs help). The only real issue, in my opinion, is the service. While the staff is really, really nice, they are also REALLY really slow. They appear to be chronically understaffed so the waitstaff can get behind, can get forgetful, etc. But still, I don't know of a better sushi place in Manhattan. I eat here almost every time I visit.

I'm giving Green Tea five stars because not only was it a great experience, but I'd like to encourage people to give it a try in spite of the mixed reviews I've seen. Having a three-star rating overall is very ambiguous, so I was torn on whether to try this place or not. Ultimately I went for it, and was very satisfied. The general consensus amongst other reviews seems to be 'good food, bad service'. The former is true but the latter is not; my service was just as stellar as my food. Perhaps it varies from server to server, but mine was very polite, helpful and prompt. As far as the food goes, it was served hot and fresh, and tasted very good. I also didn't get a stomach ache or any kind of post-eating-out sickness. If I have to complain about something I will mention a few minor things. For one, there was no hostess ready to seat us when we got there, but the waitress filled in as soon as she could. Two, be sure to order multiple orders of your chosen entree, as portion sizes are quite small. Lastly, my napkin (paper napkin) was stained, so I had to steal one from another table. This stuff happens, however, and is by no means a disqualifier for me. Green Tea is not an upscale, fancy restaurant. But for a small place located in a college town, it certainly exceeds the standards. Give it a try, you won't regret it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this place is only one of two sushi restaurants in Manhattan, KS. Since there's not much competition, I wasn't expecting a lot from this place. Plus, you know something's up when you walk into a Japanese restaurant and contemporary Chinese music is playing. Anyways here's my breakdown of our order: Sashimi Regular Dinner - 15 pieces of dinner equated to 3 pieces of salmon, tuna, whitefish, sea bream, and octopus. The pieces were cut fairly thick, which I appreciated, but the overall size of the cut was lacking. I also have a suspicion that since this place is in the middle of Kansas, most of the fish comes in frozen. Crispy Spicy Salmon Roll - Tempura-fried avocado and spicy salmon roll, topped with spicy mayo, tempura flakes, and tobiko (orange fish eggs). This roll had potential, but the stale tempura flakes that were topped on this roll ruined it. The stale potato chip texture took over the whole bite. Dragon Roll - California roll topped with avocado and eel. Dragon rolls are generally a safe selection at nearly all sushi restaurants and this place was no different. Bottom line: service was good, prices were decent, sushi was bearable. If this was California, I'd probably never come back here, but since it's Kansas, this will probably have to do.

I was really excited to hear that a 'real' sushi restaurant had opened up in Manhattan. However, I didn't check it out immediately especially after a few friends told me that they were unimpressed by the selection, especially with the price they had to pay. I finally went today, and I am very happy that I did. The interior had been completely remodeled (it used to be a Chinese restaurant). Customers can choose to sit at the booths, regular tables or at the sushi bar. The decorations were very simple. Of course, a Japanese restaurant would not be complete without the maneki neko (lucky cat). All in all, they did a good job with the renovation. On to the food. Although I had originally came for sushi, I decided on something else instead. As soon as I got the menu, I scoured the appetizer and there it was on the list: HAMACHI KAMA!!! I ordered that, and a lunch special bento box with beef negimaki which comes with salad, miso soup, california role, gyoza and rice. The first thing to come out were the salad and miso soup. The salad was very fresh, crispy and juicy. The miso soup had just enough amount of tofu and wakame and I have to say that it's much better than Umi's. I think Green Tea sushi bar uses the miso paste instead of the powdered one. The bento came soon after. The california roll was okay. I was a disappointed with the rice (I'm a big rice eater). It was more like the long-grain rice than the short grain Japanese rice. It wasn't fluffy at all either, nor was it even warm. I could only assume that it had been sitting in the rice cooker for a bit. BUT, the beef negimaki was almost HEAVEN. It made me come close to shedding tears of delight. I would definitely recommend this dish. Although the hamachi kama is listed as an appetizer, it came a bit later because it took a bit longer to make. I didn't mind and I figured, maybe I would save the best for last. I was right. The hamachi kama was crispy and yet moist. There is a side of daikon, which I thought was unnecessary even as a garnish. The star of the dish was the fish itself. Although I have to say it doesn't beat the one at Kato, I have to say that they did a great job broiling the fish. I ate it all within seconds. I also wish that they would've been a bit more generous with the tobiko that was sprinkled here and there on the fish. I will definitely go back and I would sure want to try their sushi as well as their udon, soba and katsu dish. Also, I noticed that they didn't seem to have a drink menu because some sake would've been the perfect companion to go with a bowl of edamame. What I would really like to have is either green tea or even better if they would serve genmai tea. That would definitely make it a wonderful experience.

Where to begin.............. How about at the entrance, we were a group of 5 and wanted to avoid a big crowd so went on a monday at 5pm, we walked in the door and only saw a 2-top, (so it was nice and quite, yay!!) In front of us was a nice sized sushi bar with 2 clean cut all white chef coated sushi chefs. after about 10 min of standing awkwardly in front of the "Please wait to be seated" sign, one of the chefs went to the back to retrieve a server. we where greeted with a "sorry we were really busy in the back"??????? After seated our server quickly left to assist a to-go order for another 10 min and when returned she apologized for taking so long and explained it was only her "_ day on the job". apon ordering our drinks i made a trip to the restroom to wash up for hopefully a redeeming dinner. unfortunately my trip was a disappointing one, the restroom was clean at first glance but as i was washing my hands i noticed that the back of the white pedestal sink appeared as if, it had never been wiped since it was installed, mold included. Maybe the food will redeem the previous oversights.......... Sadly this is not the case. We ordered the green tea #2 (8 pcs Nigiri, 8 pcs Sashimi, 2 "chef special" rolls) and the others ordered from the kitchen menu. all orders included soup and salad. Miso was good, salad fresh, unfortunately neither made it to the table until after i requested that we receive them, which was after our main courses arrived. Speaking of our main dish, i sat and watched our sushi bridge being prepared and then be placed for pickup, It sat above the refrigerator condenser for 5 min before the chef pointed it out to our server, then she proceeded to finish yet another to go order for another 5 min before retrieving our main dish, (i was very excited to dig into my 10min steamed Sashimi) as i looked over our sushi dish i saw some very clean healthy cuts of tuna, red snapper, Ebi, Saba, Tako, and salmon for the Nigiri, and Sashimi. All of which was great other than the salmon which had a slight slime texture to it. (sad face inserted here) The rice, THE RICE!!!!!!!! (sushi, aka classic Japanese preparation of rice) well it was not sticky, and seemed to be either under cooked, or refrigerated for a day, and had absolutely no rice wine or vinegar on it. Sounds like a classically prepared Sushi rice, huh???? (insert yet another sad face) My biggest complaint of the sushi dish was the two chef rolls. specified on the menu as "chef special, chef choice" i looked forward to these rolls and as i glanced over the "chef special" menu i did not notice any thing that looked dis-appetizing (other than cream cheese which i am allergic too, and we specified) The rolls, as requested did not contain cream cheese, neither did they contain any raw fish, or even cooked fish. the only thing that could be considered close to fish was one roll that contained crab stick. as i re-glanced over the menu not one of the "chef special" rolls did not contain some kind of raw fish. (yes this is strike three, or five, or nine) This results in me becoming completely dis-satisfied with this meal, i expressed dislike to the server, and as our check came she mentioned she had removed the last two beers due to the issues and it only being her " _ day on the job" which we heard i think 5 times as a excuse during the meal, and after she mentioned she would have to pay for them, we decided to have her put them back on the bill so she would not have to pay for them out of pocket, as not all the issues were her fault. Over all i will never re-turn. I hope that the management/Owners will train there new servers for longer than just hiring and throwing them to the wolves, and i wish that if something like "chef special" is specified on a menu item that the chefs will follow it and make something off the "chef special" menu, because there is nothing like serving a $3 roll and charging for a 12$-15$ roll, and if you are going to sell sushi. At-least make sushi rice, come on there is only one way to make sushi rice, and it seemed like the management/Owners are just trying to cut cost and reuse product.

They are saying this new sushi dig is the first full sushi restaurant in manhattan. For those that are from other states with really authentic sushi restaurants, please go with an expectation with someone who has never been to a sushi restaurant before. No high expectations are required. Green Tea Sushi is a good start for Manhattan. Though giving their best to mimic an actual sushi restaurant, they are pretty decent. No alcohol yet as I have heard, probably still getting licensure and approvals. They are serving on their menu a good variety of japanese dishes and fishes as well. There are of course the typical rolls for the non sushi eaters. There are dinner bento boxes, and hibachi entrees. The sushi could be better , though the fish was pretty decent and not frozen which gives them the benefit of the doubt. They need to improve on their rice making techniques. So far the rice is not sticky and is too large for sushi. Oh and the ginger needs improvement as well. It did not taste good at all. The wasabi tasted like it came from a generic tubed package from the market. hot tea was not really hot... assuming that not very many people from manhattan order hot tea .... the miso soup was ok. Again it could be hotter in temperature than luke warm. Good effort overall. The prices are a bit on the higher end. Especially for a student budget. Not bad Manhattan, not bad. Open 7 Days A Week - Dine in or Carry out Monday - Thursday 11a-3p, 4:30p-10:30p Friday 11a-3p, 4:30p-11p Saturday 12p-3p, 4:30p-11p Sunday 12p-3p, 4:30p-10p

Green Tea Sushi Bar offers sushi, hibachi entrees, teriyaki, and various appetizers. I love this place, it is the first glimpse of good sushi the area has seen and it can only get better. The prices are normal for sushi, especially for an area that really doesn't have any other options (aside from grocery store sushi) out there. If you go during lunch hours on weekdays they have good lunch specials on the menu and the non-sushi options give the "we hate sushi" group options.

It's as though the owners of this restaurant saw some photographs of a good sushi restaurant and based the recipes on that. Everything is bland. The salad has some kind of thousand island dressing on it (not ginger dressing, as you might expect.) The value is quite poor. You'd be better off making your own Japanese food, even if you're unexperienced.

This is by far the best sushi I've ate in awhile, and the best bang for my buck. My buddy and I ate here not long back. We had the lunch special, which is a combination of a couple rolls, salad, and soup. I also ate a couple pieces of sashimi and sushi, which were fresh. The meal came with the best miso soup I've had in awhile. We had the octopus as an appetizer, which was lightly dressed with some slightly aged soy sauce. Very nice. For a little over 20 bucks I was extremely stuffed. The pieces of sashimi were of proper size, and the rainbow roll and California roll were of appropriate size as well. They tasted great. The white tuna and salmon were delicious, and the yellow fin left that fresh buttery flavor on my pallet only fresh sashimi has. I was impressed for it being located on the back end of Aggieville. Definitely go there for their lunch, you will not be diappointed. For Manhattan, it was a great little spot.

I love this place. Having tried many Japanese restaurants, this is one of the better and freshest ones and one of the best in town. Great maki rolls, tempura, soup and appetizers. I have yet to try their entrees. The ambiance and location is cute. Overall, very satisfied with the experience.

I was a loyal Patron for 2 years, getting $75 orders at a time til my family said we don't really like the food that much.complaining about over cooked shrimp and steak and missing items on to go orders. Never complained to management. Started just getting my favorite green tea sushi roll. That was great for awhile. Then I got one where the lobster tasted spoiled and they changed the yum yum sauce to a syrupy tasteless goo. Let the manager know and he promised me a replacement on my next visit . When I called in another time to get the replacement: the manager said I wasn't getting one and I was trying to get free food, he was hard to understand so the waitress got back on the phone and asked me who the manager was that I talked to. I said well sorry to say but I can barely understand the man I was just talking to but it sounded like the same man. I said I have spent a lot of money there and never complained, if the management can't back up one sushi replacement that was promised,I may not be able to eat there anymore. She said that's fine! Why don't you go to UMI?!?! Cause we aren't serving u today! Well let me tell you it's their loss and my gain! UMI is phenomenal and they are getting my business now and the food doesn't need to be returned, they are polite and the food is out of this world! So green tea sushi I guess you had your chance and you blew it repeatedly time to move on to a better experience consistently with UMI

I was excited that Manhattan finally got a sushi joint, and I ordered some carryout to check it out. 1. The Philly roll was 45% cream cheese, 45% avocado, and 10% salmon. 2. My salmon avocado roll was inadvertently replaced by an eel avocado roll, but I didn't notice until I got home. As with the Philly, it was about 90% avocado and 10% eel. 3. My yellowtail scallion roll (nori on the outside) was split down the side. 4. Eel sushi was okay. 5. White tuna sushi was pretty good. All in all, quite a disappointment. I won't be going back.

I am not a huge fan of Sushi....well, wait...I shouldn't say that as I just have never really had it. We met up with friends for lunch & went to this place. The service was great. The food was amazing. The flavor in the soup & rice dishes was yummy! It made Umi (over by Walmart) taste like crap. The downfall....you don't have the whole traditional Hibatchi experience; but the flavor & price make up for it!

I enjoy this restaurant immensely. Since it opened it's been my first choice in town. Keep in mind that Manhattan, KS has pretty low standards for sushi - our next best choice is some chain running a counter in the grocery store. Dinner is good, but the lunch specials are the best deal. 2 or 3 rolls, soup, and a salad. The soup is good, and I've enjoyed all the rolls I've tried. The sweet potato roll is the best of those I've tried; folks I've taken here with me have all liked it as well. Their salads are the only weak offering I've had. They're nothing but a bit of iceberg lettuce drowning in dressing. Skip the salad and you can't go wrong with the other offerings. Definitely worth a trip.

This is my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. Primarily, I think the food is amazingly fresh and creative, especially considering the geographical location. In addition, the service is friendly and the staff is ready to offer recommendations for tasty rolls to try. Some people might be happy to know that there are plenty of things on the menu that the less adventurous might be more likely to enjoy than sushi and sashimi. Finally, the price is right and the place itself has a clean and relaxed atmosphere. I would also say that I like their fried rice more than any other fried rice I have tried. It is so flavorful and cooked perfectly.

Went here on new years eve to try our first sushi. The sushi was good (I know nothing about sushi), and we also had a nice steak stir fry. It was delicious as well. I like this restaurant. It's small, cozy and super laid back, There's not much on the walls, and it certainty isn't fancy. Don't bother going here if you expect linen napkins and servers with no visible tattoos. They make good food though, and the owners care about their business. However they always seems to be understaffed, either in the kitchen or up front. If it's busy, you may have to wait awhile. There seems to be a bit of a high turnover rate server wise, but I have never had a problem with their service, other than when they can't speak English well, or know nothing about the menu. It's like they were just told "Hey, you, go serve those people." People need to remember the servers are not cooking the food, so don't call the service bad because your food may take awhile. Also, Kathleen M's review is ridiculous. To say they were "trying to trick you"? Really? Philadelphia rolls have smoked salmon. So it's been smoked, not deep fried, pan fried or whatever you were expecting. The server was probably being rude because you were rude/crazy. I love the Green Tea roll, and the sweet potato roll. Also you cannot go wrong with the hibachi. Just don't expect to get rare steak, because they usually cook the hell out of it. The best appetizers are the Gyoza's, and the dipping sauce they come with, or some seaweed salad. This place is less expensive than Umi's, but they only have beer, wine and sake. Also, they never seem to have sea urchin, tuna belly, or other more expensive types of sushi. It's still a calmer atmosphere, and if you request something on the T.V. they will most likely just hand you the remote and let you find what you want to watch.

I go here often, at least once a week for some really good tasting reasonably priced sushi for lunch. I always try to go on days that Brianna (the server) is working. She always remembers what my friend and I drink and is always very prompt and knowledgeable about the rolls I order as I am basically working my way down the menu & am fairly new to my sushi addiction. In fact, i've actually left because she wasn't there to seat me. True story. I'd definitely recommend this place, I'm really craving sushi just thinking about it.

This is my go to sushi place. It's casual, they have a great variety of sushi , tempura, and hibachi , and the service good! Better than Umi.

Like I said, I know nothing about sushi, but it tasted good. The stir fry was also great. The staff was extremely friendly as well

Not much of a fan of chicken or steak in my sushi rolls. I feel like this place tries to over do it, sometimes less actually is more. The service we received here was not the best either. I don't think it's worth a second visit.

I love this place. Having tried many Japanese restaurants, this is one of the better and freshest ones and one of the best in town. Great maki rolls, tempura, soup and appetizers. I have yet to try their entrees. The ambiance and location is cute. Overall, very satisfied with the experience.
