Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Get the AJ's grilled cheese pie. ABSOLUTELY to die for.

Only place open at 2:00 on a recent weekday.

Owner Adam is a first-class businessman who knows how to take care of customers. Will be back.

Ginormous slices of yummy pizza. Fun ambience. People who seem to like working there. What's not to love? We enjoy visiting this restaurant and haven't had a negative experience.
(5)Ian B.
Best pizza I've had n a while, the only thing I thought the tables r a little small, but other then that great pizza
(5)Sophia F.
AJ's offers friendly service and food that is delicious. The price is very reasonable and there's plenty of dipping sauces to choose from. Mondays special is 50 cent pints of domestic beer. There's plenty of seating and the food is brought to you quickly.
(4)Sarah B.
I even had an Italian with me (yes from Italy) and he loved it. That earns 5 stars!

This New York style Pizza joint is about as filthy as the city its name bares. I've been there multiple times and have given it many chances. The last time I went, there was pratically nobody there, yet I waited 45 MINUTES for my food, which was undercooked and burning hot without warning. While I was in line, their cash register managed to break, so not only could I not use my credit card to pay, they made me pay in cash and didn't give me any change because "the register wasn't working." On top of all of this, I didn't get a single apology for the poor service and crappy food.it was as if this happened to everyone and they expected people to just deal with it. I have had nothing but bad experiences here and wouldn't recommend this place to even my worst enemy.

AJ's, where were you for my first three years at K-State? Having been to NYC multiple times and eaten some of the best pizza in the city, I have to say that the Little Apple finally has a taste of the Big Apple. This is probably the most authentic NY style pie you'll find east of the Mississippi. Everything here is delicious, whether it be a classic pepperoni or the Doctor's Delight. Their sides like cheese bricks and pepperoni rolls are also unique and very tasty. I definately miss this place and think about it often. I will go out of my way to go back to AJ's any time I have the opportunity. Support this restaurant and keep it going in the Little Apple. My only complaint is that they don't deliver (at least when I lived in Manhattan).

This is where I went after the horrible experience at Gumby's and that saved my appetite!!! The owner seems serious about his business, so that's a sign that, as a customer, you know you will get your money worth. I LOVE the fact that they have a wide selection of cheese, and I hope they would, every now and then, experiment with more. I'm sure they will make it work. I've tried their salad and it was always fresh, but I usually stick to pizza. That's pretty much what they serve there, and I hope they continue to do so because I'd hate to see them distracted with anything other than making the best pizza in Manhattan.
(5)John M.
Great pizza place, right outside the mall as you are going west downtown.
(5)Long B.
This is definitely a place to go for gourmet pizza. Several fresh toppings to choose from whether you just want a single slice or a whole pizza pie. Crust is unique and great with freshly made sauce. Place is pricey but you get what you pay for.
(4)Dean H.
Best pizza outside of Manhattan NY. By the slice choices are all excellent. For those from the east coast, this is your pizza place. Staff is friendly and service great. Great place to watch sporting events.
(5)Matt C.
This is the best pizza we have in town. The sauce is good; it has a good strong garlic flavor. Their thick crust is excellent. Service is generally quick.
(4)Tiffany O.
This is the best pizza in Manhattan, KS. Not quite NY pizza, but it's the closest you will find in the area. A little on the expensive side, but worth it!
(4)Julia M.
This place is pretty good! Kind of just your average pizza place. Nothing really stuck out about this place, but the food was good. Everything seemed to be made fresh. We came last night, which was a Tuesday. They had kids eat free night. They have a different special every night Monday-Thursday. I had a slice of margherita pizza and the Williamsburg salad. Everything was pretty tasty, just nothing mind blowing. The cinnamon knots were hot, sweet, and tasty! Yummmmm. Everyone that worked there was nice and the dirty dishes were cleared off of our table at lightning speed.
(4)Dan O.
Wanted a quick slice of pizza close by, and AJ's fit the bill. Modified cafeteria style setup. Went in and ordered from the counter. They delivered my food to the table. A little thicker than what I like, but it was still good. The wings in particular were very tasty. Reasonable price with a military discount. Overall a decent pizza joint. One to repeat if I'm in the area and have a hankering for pizza. Recommend!

I really like AJ's pizza! I came here on a football game weekend with my visiting guests. Three of us ordered pizza and one ordered a salad. Her salad got lost in the tickets and it never came. Luckily we had enough pizza to share while the kitchen put her salad together. Not only did she get a refund, but she also got a $10 gift card. Since she lives in Omaha, I got to benefit from her gift card. I returned tonight to pick up a pizza right before closing, which was no problem when I called. I stuck with what I tried last time - the bianco, which has garlic oil and ricotta under mozzarella. It is really delicious and simple. Just a splash of red pepper flakes makes this pizza just perfect. I recommend AJ's for a good slice of pizza or a whole one - there are lots of specialty pies and you can make your own. One slice can be enough for a meal!
(4)Karli W.
This is best as leftover pizza. The crust is super hard. Hardest I've ever come across & I've been to NY. It's ok the day of, but much softer & not soggy the next day. The margherita uses fresh mozzarella & is good. Not the best margherita pizza I've ever had, but not terrible. Actually didn't care for the cheese, but the pepperoni is probably my fav. And I'm not a big pepperoni pizza eater!
(4)Alicia T.
I am from the land of good pizza and this place just wasn't all that great. The only part of the pizza I liked was the crust and their garlic knots were disappointing.
(3)Leyka C.
Hubs and I ordered the 18th and 8th pizza. It was good, but not NYC good. Still, it definitely hit the spot and satisfied my craving for family-style Italian pizza, which I figured would be impossible to find in Kansas. We also ordered garlic knots that I thoroughly enjoyed. They were delicious and came piping hot and super garlicky! The atmosphere and decor gave me a bit of nostalgia of weekend trips to the city, so I would definitely come back more for the atmosphere than for the food. I won't be returning often though because I found it to be pricey, but I suppose it's excusable since this is the only restaurant of its kind in the area. If you seek pizza from somewhere other than Domino's, Papa John's, etc, definitely give this place a try. It's great for a casual date night, especially with its outside dining area.
(4)Zachary S.
Great pizza. Much better than I had expected a lot toppings and combinations not Much to say except it's great pizza and the patio is comfortable.
(5)Kelsee D.
My family and I eat/order from Ajs pretty regularly and they have great food! The toasted ravioli and buffalo chicken pizza are my faves!
(4)Jerry G.
Walking in the atmosphere was good, easy to understand the flow, I didn't want a whole pizza just a few slices. The pizza was good not great. I ordered their signature Manhattan margarita. I use BJ's Brewhouse pizza as the gold standard at 5 stars.
(3)Andrew H.
They have the best pizza in Manhattan bar none. The pepperoni is my favorite and they always give you huge slices which can fill you up with just 2 or 3 pieces. My favorite part is the dessert, the cinnamon knots are the best thing about coming here, they are mouth watering. I'm trying to try other things here (which is hard because the pizza is so good), but I just had a salad here and it was delicious as well. Highly recommended if you are new to Manhattan and are looking for great food in general!
(5)Brandi G.
I'll give 3 stars because the pizza is very good, but the salads are lacking. I know it's a pizza joint but if your going to sell $7 salads at least make them yummy. I posted 2 pictures to give you an idea. I ordered take out for my family and I ordered a large cobble hill salad. I basically got a bowl of romaine lettuce with about 2 tablespoons of toppings! I was shocked and I thought it was a joke. P.S. Make sure you order extra dressing because they give you a very small amount.
(3)David R.
Great crust and great sauce. Kids love it and good beer choices. A little on the high side for a slice and a beer but made it a great spot for fun dinner with the kids!
(4)Laura H.
We had a lovely pregraduation lunch here. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pizza was quite good. Sitting out on the patio enjoying our pizza was a perfect lunch for us. We will definitely go back next time we are in Manhattan.
(5)Matt L.
Fabulous pizza for a small town! This place is exceptionally good, if you have the time to eat out ditch the delivery and stop on by. The service is friendly, the place is clean, and there is plenty of room. Crusts are crisp, but not too thick or doughy. Toppings are good quality, and they give you enough to make them count. Put this one on your list of places to visit in Manhattan!
(5)Rosario T.
It was okay. Decently priced but nothing like NY pizza. Pizza crust was dry and the large pie was more like a medium.
(3)An L.
The pizza has really good sauce. Monday is .50 beer night so if you don't want a crowd of college student, don't go there. FYI, the salad was really good and that said a lot from a person who does not eat salad. Great place to watch the Monday football game
(4)Rex J.
I wouldn't call it the best pizza out there. We ordered up large pie and I expected a giant pizza with huge slices like back home. Nope. Pizza was a little bigger Papa John's mediums. Also ordered up some garlic knots which were just tied up dried dough with some garlic pieces shoved on the side of the foil. Wasn't really what I expected from a place that was highly recommended.
(3)Dan T.
Everyone loves pizza. So if you can navigate the initial confusion that occurs when you walk in you'll end up liking this place. Once you get your bearings order some pizza and enjoy! It's confusing in the sense that you can't really figure out if this is a sit down restaurant or a fast food style pizza place. You order your food at a register and then you sit down and wait for it. A "waitress" brings it to you, but that's about it. That is the last you will see of your "waitress". You're on your own for the rest, which is fine. Without having prior inside experience at this place I went ahead and took my plate and trash up to where I saw the rest of the trays sitting. I didn't want to be an ass and leave it on the table, but nobody really gave any direction as to how that was supposed to work. Their individual slices of pizza are very large and delicious. They have a great outdoor atmosphere as well. I will certainly go back, but might ask a few questions as to proper etiquette next time.
(3)Kerstin M.
It's ok pizza. I am from Ny and had higher expectations but I have had better but beat by far for kansas pizza. Great atmosphere.
(3)Tara W.
I thought the pizza was disgusting last time I was in Manhattan and so did my friend. I don't know why people rave about this place - must be bc they eat it after the bars at 2:00 when they are hammered!
(1)Xavi G.
I love pizza and wings, both from this place were great. The service was good, quick and friendly.. Cool little hang out place.
(3)Sonia K.
One of my favourite places to eat in Manhattan! Fabulous NY style pizza that is the size of one you'd get in NYC. I feel like the sauce on the pizza is lacking at times but that's my opinion. They sell pizza by the slice which is awesome, and expensive in a sense. Wish they had specialty pizza discount nights!
(5)Sandra W.
Decent pizza place. Nothing to call home about, but i would order again from here. We ordered the 18th & 8th pizza. It has all the various meats you could want on it. The body of the pizza was good. However, the crust was lacking.
(3)Israel N.
Good for a quick slice on your lunch break or a break from shopping. Specials throughout the week.
(5)Gabriel W.
The best pizza in Kansas, hands down. Perfect texture, super fresh, and never too greasy. I love going by myself to grab a slice, taking my family for dinner, and going with my pals from work for lunch.
(5)Eugene V.
By far the best pizza in Manhattan. So sad they don't deliver. Variety of cheeses, two types of delicious crust, and you have to try the white sauce! The garlic wings are also wonderful, covered with literally handfuls of minced garlic. Fantastic!
(5)Madelaine G.
We went here again. Still good pizza. I do agree that the salads are pretttty sparse on the toppings...
(4)Ryan K.
This is the place to be on Monday. 50 cent PBR and Bud Lights - they're (relatively) small pours, but they're 50 cents. The pizza is great- I get the Hot Wing Pie every time and have never been disappointed. The Taco Pizza is really good and a nice change of pace. Great specials, friendly staff, and awesome pizza.
(5)Brittany B.
I think this is a charming local pizzeria with some unique and tasty selections. I would highly recommend the baked ziti pizza. It's also cool how they have a lot of patio events, like movie night. I really wish they delivered!
(4)C. C.
This is my favorite place in Manhattan for pizza. My husband and I usually share a (delicious) salad and get a slice each, which is so big I can't always finish it. I love their selection of salads. And as a vegetarian it's so nice to actually have a choice of more than one kind of pizza. This place is great and we often bring friends from out of town to eat AJs.
(4)Dug D.
As promised I went back and got a whole pie this time. It was better but nothing I can't get else where in town
(3)TinaRae E.
We are often asked by our kids to make the drive to AJ's. We like to get it to go and take it home so we aren't further tempted by the menu. Love the bricks and the Hawaiian pizza. Kids love the Sicilian crust.
(4)Carol G.
This pizza was amazing. No, really. It's not like anything we can get in Topeka. (At least, not yet.) Fresh, flavorful and delicious - enough to make your taste buds dance! My husband and I ventured out west, specifically, to go here for dinner one night. It's a 45 minute drive to Manhattan from Topeka and we wondered if it was even going to be worth it as we drove there. It was, absolutely. We split a side salad to start with, the Tribeca, which had Cherries, Almonds, Gouda Cheese, Asparagus, and a Balsamic Vinagrette on it, Yummmm, Normally, I won't order anything "extra" when we go out, but I couldn't pass this up it sounded so good. (And the rest of his salads sound fantastic too.) Then, we followed it with a Manhattan Margherita pizza. Fresh Mozzarella, fresh tomatoes, fresh basil - the whole thing tasted like a pizza, but with virtue... like I wasn't eating a fat/salt/calorie laden wad of junk food. I know they are looking to expand into the Topeka area. I hope it's soon! I want to take all my friends and family here and show them how good Pizza can be! This excursion was totally worth it. Update: They ARE coming to Topeka! They've secured a location and ordered the oven. I am sosososo excited!!!
(5)Byron K.
Every specialty pizza available by the slice ..slices too big took slice home. Try the 18th and 8th. Delish
(4)Jessica S.
Went here around 830 last night for a couple slices and garlic knots after reading stellar reviews....the pizza tasted and looked old and the garlic knots were almost black they were so overdone. Definitely will not be going back! If they are open, they should always offer fresh pizza, not the stuff they were planning on throwing away! Blech
(1)Andrew K.
Whene they first opened the pizza slices would hang like dog ears. I dont know if they perfected their pizza now but it was not worthy to be called a NY pizzeria.
(3)Andrew A.
The pizza here is not that bad. I wouldn't rate it as the best pizza place I have ever been to. Decor:the place has the feel of NYC with subway station signs and street names all over the place. having been to NYC multiple times the place makes you feel like you are in the city. Service: the place is like a fast food restaurant but it's not. It is a sit down restaurant but when you walk in to the place you order at the cash register. The only thing that is not the same as a fast food restaurant is that there are waitresses that bring you your food and they clear them for you. You have to get your own drink at the soda fountain. Overall I can't complain about the service. It wasn't anything over the top. Food: there is a list of probably 12 different kinds of pizza and I believe you can make any of them into a calzone. The variety and uniqueness of each pizza is pretty good. They have about 4 different kinds of salad. I didn't take a good look at them. When the pizza came out it wasn't a true NY style pizza but the pizza was pretty good. I got the big apple pizza and it was pretty much a supreme pizza except they had meatballs on them. The meatball was really really good. The pizza comes in 3 different sizes 18", 14", and a slice. The slices are pretty generous. I got the 14" and it could have fed 1.5 people.l maybe 2 people. Overall I would come back to this place again. My overall experience was pretty good. Nothing over the top or unsatisfactory.
(4)Melissa K.
Absolutely incredible pizza. Huge slices. I was comfortable with just one but could have eaten two. WE WILL BE BACK. Only complaint: they give you the tiniest container of marinara with it for such a huge slice so ask for extra marinara containers!!
(5)Jessica T.
Bottom line: pricey but really, really delicious pizza. It's definitely my favorite pizza in all of Manhattan (KS, that is...). The staff leaves a bit to be desired on occasion but they're mostly nice and helpful. There are items on the menu outside of pizza and it's all good...especially the garlic knots.
(4)Aarushi G.
Loved their plain cheese pizza! Good serving size and very delicious. Would like to try more.
(5)Edward M.
Best pizza in Manhattan, Kansas. There are the usual chains (Dominos, Papa Johns, etc) and a few independents (Gumby's is horrible), but AJ's is the only "real" pizza place. I came to Kansas after living 40 years in the heart of Chicago so pizza is very important to me. If it wasn't for AJ's I'm not sure I could survive here. You order at the counter and they give you a little NY-style street sign and the waitstaff brings you your food. When you're done you just leave the mess and they'll take care of it.
(4)Sonja K.
Great hand made pizza and very casual atmosphere. Love sitting outdoors on their patio during the summer!! A favorite for my family when we visit our daughter at college.
(5)Melissa C.
You CANNOT compare this place to Old Chicago....two different styles of pizza. My husband loves his pizza & is partial to what he knows. We came here on a whim. I love how you can order just a slice at a time; that way your not obligated to a whole pie and can try other varieties. Definitely not disappointed.
(5)Megan S.
It is pretty pricey pizza, but it is probably the best pizza to me. I love the variety on the menu. I always make sure to get the garlic knots because they are so good. The staff is usually very good.
(5)Matthew O.
I ate at AJ's while passing through Manhattan on a road trip. They were within walking distance of my hotel so I gave them a try. Pizza is always a good bet when looking for dinner in a college town and AJs is really good pizza. I was happy to see they had Tall Grass Brewery beer on tap. I was pretty hungry so I had a couple different slices, both were outstanding. Manhattan is lucky to have pizza like that in their town.
(5)Noel G.
Good pizza. A little expensive, we're talking north of $25 for an 18 inch specialty pizza. My only complaint about the pizza is that the crusty isn't as chewy as NY style should be.
(4)Todd B.
Decent place to grab a quick bit to eat for lunch. The pizza was pretty good. We had the Doctor's Delight. The sausage had good flavor. The food came out quickly. The old downside is this location looks a little run down. Was this an old Wendy's? The table was sticky. The floor looks permanently dirty. They serve bottled beer. If you were in mood for beer and pizza and large group this would be a good spot.
(4)Alex K.
In town, and this place had good reviews so checked it out. I was satisfied. The garlic knots were good, the wings were delicious, and the pizza was good as well. All for around 25 dollars. Good spot to grab dinner. Plus, it is quick.
(4)Kyle P.
This really is the best pizza in the entire state of Kansas, and unless you're willing to drive all the way to New York it's probably the best NY-style you're going to find in the Midwest. Skip a night of ordering crappy Pizza Shuttle pizza to give this place a chance if you haven't done so already.
(5)Natalie S.
Very good pizza, a little pricey but it was delicious. The tables were quite small, we had a group of 5 with two children and were packed around 3 tables and the people adjacent to us were very rude about making way for us to get around the table. Other than that the food is good.. but I don't recommend bringing large groups or even medium sized groups.
(4)Willy E.
HOLY COW!!!!!!! I was born in New York so I know pizza, and I'll tell you that AJ's is right up there with the best of them. A variety of pizza types and toppings along with delicious sides and desserts. Little to no wait for your food, friendly staff, sumptuous sauces, and takes be back home to the big apple. If you're in Manhattan this is a must! Pros: Everything Cons: Let me know if you find one.
