The chicken tacos taste better than the beef ones in my opinion. They're delicious with the red sauce, but taste dry without any sauce.

Great service if you are in group like my co-workers and I. It seems like if you show up as a couple you're invisible though. Horrible service with my wife for 5+ years. The only reason to go back is the food is good. However that's just not enough if I have to wait 20 minutes for the check EVERY TIME. Waitresses seem lazy and like they could care less about couples just groups. Tired of it I will find somewhere else.

Not a huge fan... the fried jalapeno cheese balls are very good but the last time we went, my husband had severely underdone chicken wings.... big no no and we haven't been back since

We were deciding between this and the bar/pizzaria across the street. I'm not going to name names but we decided to go with Tanners because the pizzeria smelled...like a combination of pink hospital soap and flatulations. We're glad we went to Tanners. We had to wait a little bit for our food, but it was worth it. The buffalo chicken dip was everyone's favorite. It's normally around $9 but during reverse happy hour (9-close) it's only $5. I got a Bobs 47 Oktoberfest for $3.50.

Tanner's is a local sports bar chain and they do a fairly good job of providing what you want for a sports bar... namely lots of tvs, lots of fried food and a nice assortment of alcoholic beverages, namely beer. This location is tucked away in a strip mall on the north side of 87th so you may need to look closely to find it. Inside is okay, they provide lots of screens so you can watch who you want to watch. The tables and chairs to me look old and by old I mean it looks like this restaurant might have picked them up from a Cracker Barrel that was closing. I mean, I don't exactly go to a sports bar because it's fancy, but I was worried that the chairs might not be able to hold me (full disclosure: I'm not small, but I don't have an issue with chairs.) I will say that I might have picked a bad table, but depending who you are and if you're Kansas City-sized like I am you might double check. The food is good. The menu offers a variety of burgers (I like the egg booga,) chicken wings, chicken lips (get the buffalo dipped ones with extra blue cheese) and other sports bar staples. They also offer most American beers and Boulevard. I don't remember seeing many craft options, but you can always ask your server. They might have bottles in the cooler where I didn't look. You won't leave hungry or thirsty.

I ordered four Taco Tuesday tacos ($0.99 hard shell, $1.49 soft shell) and a drink ($2.50) at my table. My order was served with a smile in about seven minutes. The tacos had plenty of ground beef (somewhat salty) and shredded chicken (very tasty), along with fresh lettuce, cheese, and salsa. The service was friendly, and attentive. The restaurant was clean, and somewhat dark, with music playing.

This place rocks! Moved here from Chicago, and this is my new go to. Watched blackhawks games, royals games, cardinals games, and karaoke on Tuesdays! Drinks are great. Unlike many people saying that service in subpar; I must say I always get my drinks and check fast. The servers are polite and well mattered. No complains. 5 stars.

Tanner's is certainly not my favorite place in the world, but one of my friends practically lives there, so I find myself there often. I've had good and bad... I love to go on the Fridays when they have prime rib. The prime rib is what bumps them from a 1 to a 2 rating. I've had several issues with service -- they seem to pay better attention to the men at the table then the women. Sometimes, I'll have to tell someone in my party (male) to ask for a refill for me because I seem to be invisible. I even had a waitress have another employee come to me to complain about the tip we left (she didn't realize that we had left part in cash and part on the credit card), which I found unbelievable that someone would have the nerve to do that. The place is often too loud and dark and I was most horrified when accidentally being there once for trivia night and again when there was an Elvis impersonator, who besides being too loud was quite rude as he was setting up for his ridiculous show. Do not go to Tanner's to have a conversation.

Came to Tanner's to play poker as a surprise to the poker fan in my life :) Had a great time, with lots of players, good food, good prices, and good company. He even ended up winning poker, so it made it that much better! Typical of the other local Tanner's in the area. Granted, I wish they'd bring back the macaroni and cheese bites, but probably better for me that they don't.

Good place. Standard sports bar. Thursday is steak night and they do a pretty good job. Waitresses try to be prompt and take care of everyone. I really like when I see the manager out running around helping. Some managers think they are too good to do that.

Apparently the bar tender decides when the place closes. The website states they close at 2am and it's currently 1230am and we are being asked to leave. I wouldn't visit this establishment, they will ask you to leave as soon as you get you pitcher.

I am done going to Tanner's 87th street. Have been going for years...however as a perfectly healthy young guy, the Coke or water they serve causes extreme gastric....emergencies. I am perfectly fine until I go and have a Coke or water (I don't drink alcohol). Then in 30 to 60 minutes I have to run to the bathroom several times. even if I have not ordered or eaten food. This happened ONLY at Tanner's. Never at home or anywhere else. Mentioned it to a doctor at Tanner's -he pointed out that the clean their Coke serving glasses by dipping them in a tub of very strong detergent and then don't rinse them off well. He had the same problem as me! So kudos to the doctor. I went several times and instead ordered a non-alcoholic beer in a bottle - no problems! Prior I had to leave friends early at Tanners, miss games and rush home to take care of my gastric issues. All because they didn't rinse the glasses of the strong detergent. I am never going back, Tanners is lucky I wasn't sitting with an attorney that night I discovered the cause!

Website says they close at 02am, they actually close when they want. I ordered a pitcher and within 5 minutes they said they were closing and they turned off all the TVA. We confronted the staff and they said "well this is what we do to tell people to get out." Stay away from this joint that has amazing food but very poor customer service. The bartender is more concerned with going out with Johnny tonight than her job. Our server is drinking at the bar. Steer clear from this place, such a freaking joke. Bar rescue? Yep, I think it's necessary. Go somewhere else!

Visited the Tanner's on 87th tonight. We come here several times a year to catch up with friends who live on the other side of the city. The quality of the service, and the quality of the food, have gone down hill recently. At first I thought it odd that the waitress took a food order from 5 people without writing anything down, but maybe she had an eidetic memory. That was proved to not be the case once our food came out. All the burgers came out WELL done, despite being ordered medium or medium well. One of the ladies at my table didn't get her side dish. I ordered a medium well Build-a-Booga with pepper jack cheese and bacon, and also asked her to hold to onions (lettuce, pickle, and onion come automatically). I also ordered slaw as my side dish. Here's what I got: A WELL done burger with pepper jack cheese, and lettuce (where are my pickles?). Oh, and french fries instead of the slaw that I ordered. When I pointed out that my order wasn't right, the waitress acted like I was an inconvenience. Cole slaw was brought out quickly thereafter, but I waited a good 10 minutes before the bacon came out for my bacon cheeseburger. We were there for nearly three hours, and the waitress never asked if we would like refills on our drinks. When we got the bill, I was charged for a burger with cheese and JALAPENOS (at $0.50 more than the menu-listed cost of bacon). The bill was for $24 and some change. When the waitress picked up the $30 we had put on the table, she had the gall to ask if we wanted change... Right, like I was going to give you a 22% tip on crappy service and incorrectly-prepared food. We'll be finding somewhere else to catch up with our friends in the future.

I prefer this Tanner's over all the rest I've been to (platte city, 143th, 119th, ex-135th). Maybe because I was introduced to Tanner's with this one. My favorite has always been the beef nachos. It's big enough to share. Also their steak night is good and cheaper. It's smaller but good.

Just left Tanners on 87th street. Had an awful experience. We sat down at a table, waitress took our order. We QUICKLY told her we'd changed tables. (Bigger, not against the wall) she said OK! We waited and waited and after about 30 minutes a different waitress ( who never said she was our waitress) brings out the wrong order.:(. We said it wasn't ours and by the way we never got our salads. A "manager" came over and said, " we'll that's what happens when people keep changing tables." We told him never mind the salads. ( didn't want them as dessert) Nobody ever came back to refill drinks, or to see if we needed anything else. We are easy people to please...Tanners needs new management. Totally unacceptable service. NOT going back

Sadly, I must bump it down to two. After so many years of great times and awesome service, both have taken a turn for the worse. I usually go on Friday, prime rib night. The past three times, they have been out of baked potatoes. Or. . . have they? ???After being told "out" the first time, servers proceeded to serve baked potatoes to people who came in long after us??? This particular waitress on this first "out" visit was exTREMELY patronizing to me, going as far as to mimick me when I asked what came on the baked potato! "It doesn't come with anything until you tell me what it comes on it" (exaggerated blinking while she leans uncomfortably close to my face to say that. . . I am pretty sure I do not blink like that, but ok). What I already knew was "butter and sour cream, no charge" but just wanted to confirm. Twenty minutes (no exaggeration) later, she came back to tell us "out of baked potatoes". Mmmmmk. My bf remained chill, but I was ready to take off my earrings with this girl I do not know if the manager observed her body language with me or not, but he ended up comping part of our meal. Good move. He has always been awesome and attentive. A few weeks later, we returned for another try. No potatoes. And then once more. No potatoes. This time, we got to hear music trivia night. A rowdy group with two middle-aged heinously loud and drunk women sang every Eighties song at the top of their screaming lungs while their male companions feigned deafness. My casual, chill Friday night atmosphere was gone. I will say, they were busier, so I understand if management felt this was a necessary change in events to boost business, but we will not return unless absolutely out of options. The end of good times and a sad face here.

Just left Tanners. Server asked us if we wanted refill on the soft drink and of course we responded with a 'sure'. The bill comes and we have $9 in soft drinks. Tell server there's a mistake on bill and she responds 'we charge for refills'. No mention EVER of that when she asked if we wanted a refill. No place ever does that anymore. Food was nothing special. Order was wrong so had to wait for them to fix. We certainly won't be going back.

Tanner's is a pretty run of the mill sports bar in my opinion. Big TV's, cold beer on tap, solid food, etc. I don't think they do anything exceptionally well, but they've never done anything bad by me either. It's good to have something you can count on. Taco Tuesday's are a great lunch option, and don't be afraid to pair them with a tray of tots. It's a great way to kill your productivity for the afternoon and not feel bad about it. I said above that they don't do anything exceptionally well, but I was wrong. They absolutely, beyond any doubt, have the greatest Fried Pickles on the planet! That's actually the only reason we really hit Tanner's because there are several other options we pass on the way.

It is what it is, a neighborhood sports bar. The menu is consistent with other Tanner's establishments. A variety of burgers, sandwiches, entrees, appetizers and wings. Friendly service, cold beer. I usually stop by here after soccer at All American across the street. I mean, why not run for an hour prior so you can drink beer?
