I think I came at an off time. Many of the more authentic items on the menu were not available because the regular chef was on vacation. The Spicy Noodles with pork was OK and the eggrolls were good and very fresh. I'll give this one another time to try some of the other dishes.

A delightful escape from the every-day! My husband and I enjoy Sweet Siam often. Their delicious appetizer Egg Rolls, Crispy Tofu, Chicken Satay, Coconut Soup, and the Thai salad, Pad Thai, and Beef Masaman have never left us room to try the famous Coconut Cake. I think we will have to come back just for that, and soon! I can't wait to try it, and savor it with another favorite of ours, their intensely wonderful Thai Iced Coffee. Sweet Siam Thai Bistro is a lovely find! Their friendly staff, charming decor, and ease of destination & parking make it all the better.

This place has some great Thai food. I judge any Thai place by their pad Thai dish. Theirs was decently sized and had a nice heat without being overwhelming. Their also comes with chicken and shrimp together...which is almost unheard of. Service was quick and without complaint. The only draw back is that they much have been without air conditioning the day I went because it was very hot inside and they had fans running all over.

I had neen craving thai food and had been wanting to try this place for a while. Ordered carry out, pad thai and coconut soup with tofu. The pad thai was ok but lacked in the flavor department and was oddly sweet. A bit dry, as,well. The coconut soup was a real disappointment and I expected it to be a show stopper from all the great reviews. It was coyingly sweet and the flavor was "off". Not sure what exactly but I couldn't eat it. I may try Sweet Siam again but no time soon.

Thai in Kansas City is a weird mix of variety. I've come to believe that you can love them all for their own take on each dish. Each local place has their own unique flavor of Phad Thai, Green Curry, Masssaman and Panang. Sweet Siam has their own version. Sweet Siam has some of the freshest tasting food of any thai restaurant in Kansas City. It's one of the few asian places in town where the veggies are cooked correctly. I despise green beans, but I ate them all here. Their main dishes are very different from other Thai places in town. I won't comment on what is more authentic, because I don't care. I have found a few things at Sweet Siam that I like better than other places, but I've also found a few things that I just didn't like compared to my favorite places. Sweet Siam is yet another Thai place where you should find your favorite dish for this restaurant. For me, the coconut soup is worth a trip alone. It has just the right amount of spice, with the cooling of the coconut milk. They also have a very good draft beer selection compared to any other Thai place in the city since Thai Place in Westport closed. I'm a fan of Sweet Siam.

I recently ate here for the first time with a group of SOUP-addicted friends on the advice that their tom kha gai was "the best ever OMG yes." I can corroborate, the tom kha gai here at Sweet Siam is incredible. Salty, sweet, sour. Heavy on button mushrooms. I had the larb appetizer also, made with chicken. It was really fantastic. Their tom yum soup was also good, though a little too salty for my taste. Like most Thai places, they have a spice tray to add heat to dishes that I found lacking only in the heat department. The server saw me adding crushed Thai chilis to everything and suggested next time I order the "Dang" or "half Dang" hot next time, named for a cook/chef in the kitchen here. This made me laugh. Half-priced martinis on Tuesdays! Nicely decorated. Convenient parking. I'll be back for sure.

This is my favorite Thai place in Johnson County. The coconut soup is delicious. I seriously dream about it. The masaman chicken is also yummy. Tender white-meat chicken and the flavor a are great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

My wife and I continue to hunt for the best Thai take out on our jaunts around Overland Park and surrounding areas. Sweet Siam might have just taken the crown as the best spot we've found in a long time. When comparing Thai establishments, I use the "curry to curry" comparison rationale. Every place we try we always get the same thing - green, yellow, red, or panang curry and chicken satays or Thai chicken wings. Throughout our adventures, we've found differing prices, differing sizes, differing contents, and differing tastes. Sweet Siam offers the best of all worlds - great taste, great portion size, lots of great ingredients, and a great atmosphere. The same price for curry here actually nets you MORE than the competition. They also throw in some unusual ingredients in with the curry like zucchini, cashews, and carrots. They are a delicious upgrade from the normal fare. I have especially like the panang and mussaman curries here, a perfect blend of fresh ingredients and good cooking. I'm looking forward to my next visit. It's definitely our new standard "go-to" for Thai in OP/Lenexa for the foreseeable future.

This is our favorite Thai place!! Amazing pad Thai and we always get the basil rolls for an app because they taste so fresh!! Do NOT miss out on the best dessert I have ever had which is the coconut cake! Absolutely amazing!
(5)Katie P.
Super delicious Thai food! Is it authentic? I wouldn't say so, I've actually sat on a beach in Koh Lanta and watch the sun set while I devoured some green curry. But for Americanized Thai, it's amazing. The restaurant is cozy and bright and I've never had bad service there. The food comes out fast so it's the perfect spot for a quick lunch when you're working. My co-workers and I often order take out as well. If only they delivered!! Ok, one time they forgot all our coconut soups, so we called back in to complain and they actually delivered them to us. Does correcting an error get any better than that?! My co-workers are fans of the Pad Thai, Pad Prik, and the Spicy Basil Stir Fry. Me? I always go the the Masaman. And their coconut soup is to die for!! Nice and spicy, but not overly so, and creamy. It's awesome in the winter to make a meal out of!
(5)Azile Y.
The food is great- spicy noodles are my fave- they are kind but SUPER disorganized. They mix up orders, and take out orders take a long time. Eat here if you're not in a rush- the food is worth it.
(4)Curly Q.
The owner/chef makes it a point to accommodate gluten-free customers (gluten-free items provided on the menu). When there was a mistake made with our order, he fixed it, then came out and personally apologized, and removed the charge from our bill. WOW. We told him it really wasn't necessary, but he insisted. Super nice guy. P.S. Incredible Tom Kha coconut soup.

Recently the weather broke, and we found ourselves briefly touching 60-degrees on a sunny weekday at noon. Wanting both a pleasant drive with the sunroof open, and an exceptional--although not heavy--lunch. I recalled speaking with the owner of Sweet Siam on an earlier visit about their special steak salad. Just the ticket for me!!! On this day the restaurant was nicely humming with almost every table taken. I chose to sit at the bar. Quickly looking over the list of luncheon specials, I saw it: Spicy Salad with choice of grilled Chicken or Steak. The beautifully composed plate arrived after I'd savored the coconut milk and tofu soup. It was beautiful! Hot slices of marinated flank steak flash seared in the wok for the right touch of crispy over tender. The steak was displayed over and amid chunks of Romaine tossed with cucumber slices and red onion. The steak and salad were all well dressed with a spicy sour sauce of house made chili oil, rice wine vinegar and delightful spices. The 'Spicy' part comes from red chili's grown on premises, infused in the oil and sprinkled in the dressing. The heat was present, but entertainingly so. This was so tasty, I concentrated on nothing else except finishing this dish off, totally. While it might be ample enough for some couples to split, I wouldn't want to (selfish?). Not heavy in anything other than flavor, this will definitely be my go-to luncheon salad in the upcoming warm months! Time and time again!
(4)Mike S.
One of our favorite places in the KC area. The spicy coconut soups is the best I've ever had. The chicken satay is tasty, the noodle bowls are very filling. They have several American dishes for the less adventurous which are very good too. Clean with a friendly, honest staff.
(4)Susan M.
Very good food, good atmosphere, nice decor! I love the colors, the contemporary look, and the simplicity of some well-chosen art and interesting ceiling/light fixture treatments. It's not a large or fancy place, but very attractive, and quiet enough that you can actually enjoy conversation with your tablemates, which I appreciate. The owner is a home-town-boy who brought good Thai food with a twist (along with some great Thai chefs from a restaurant group he worked with for many years in the south) back to the metro area, and opened his own place. I appreciated that he stopped by our table to check on things. The first surprise was being offered the special cocktail for the evening, a Whiskey Sour, which I haven't had in at least 30 years, and would not have expected at a place called Sweet Siam. The second surprise was the avocado in the Massaman Curry, a tasty addition. That and the Pad Thai were good choices. We were there on a Sunday evening, and the other diners included couples and families with children.
(4)Shaurna A.
I go there often with my bestest and we always order the Pad Thai, I get mine with chicken, not spicy. Hers is normally spicy. It has very good flavor, and you get a large amount enough for two dinners. We finish by sharing a nice helping of the Homemade Coconut Cake. ..very mosit, cold like refrigerator cake. So delicious. The owner sells the cakes whole by request but they are a pretty penny! I give the cake 5 stars!
(4)Julius C.
This place has good tasting thai style food at a moderate price. It has a slick looking modern decor with pictures of Thailand on the wall. The menu actually has some authentic dishes such as a chicken larb appetizer, though I prefer larb with beef (see my Vientiane review for a great example of beef lharb). Our main dishes we ordered were a yellow curry with chicken and I had a pork pad prik, which weren't bad. The service is ok but I wish we had the other waiter working. He was more interactive, told his guests about the herbs they grow outside the restaurant and talked about their homemade coconut cake, which we'll try next time.
(4)Michelle O.
I placed a to-go order today for pad Thai and the crab angel app. I was not impressed. The only options for level of spice was mild or spicy. For the price, quantity and quality, I will drive the extra distance to The Thai Place on 87th St next time.
(3)Kelly H.
They don't deliver. Yelp has it wrong. The food was ok. Lacked moisture and therefore flavor. Just like with any ethnic food everyone has different tastes. Would go there again but not my first choice.
(3)Ed D.
Satay, crab wonton and pad thai was delicious, nice presentation and free condiment trio was good lunch.
(4)John C.
Really appreciate the GF-gluten free on the menu. Coconut soup was excellent, my friend and I had two cups of Coconut Soup today. Masaman Chicken was very good.
(5)Christina G.
One of my favorite places to eat in or carry out. I love Thai food & they have some of the best I've tried. I always find coupons too which makes it even better since it's a little pricey. However, the food matches the price, it's amazing! Small modern restaurant, I love it.
(5)Melissa F.
Lacks the spicy hearty flavor that you expect from Thai food. Had the pad Thai and red curry and both were just ok. Most likely won't return and will go somewhere else with more flavor for Thai food.
(2)Anthony R.
The Thai food was just ok. Being stuck on the can all night after eating made my experience a very bad one. The other person that ate with me also experienced some not so good gut feelings. So, I'm pretty sure there was something not good in that kitchen tonight. Go somewhere else for Thai food!!!!!
(1)Leah B.
Love this restaurant! Everything I have tried is delicious. The service is great, too.
(5)Stephanie E.
Food very fresh. Coconut soup was incredible. Red curry chicken delicious! Our server Marian was very on top of things. Our water glasses never got less than half full.
(5)Deana W.
Let me get this off my chest before I bust...I've got a new favorite! Thai restaurant that is. Sweet Siam! Everything about this place is warm and inviting. Warm hard-wood floors, toasted pumpkin and spring green walls. Interesting accent details and lighting, but the food...that's where the real warmth is. Pun intended. Appetizers: Nam Sod - (Thai lettuce wraps) ground pork, chilis, lime, and peanuts. Yum! Fresh Basil Rolls - (Thai spring rolls) lettuce, basil, shrimp, and pork wrapped in a spring roll wrapper. The Pad Thai is the best that I have ever had! You just can't go wrong. Delicate noodles, succulent shrimp, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of heat. Cashew nut stir fry - green peppers, garlic, and onions, in a spicy pepper sauce. Luscious enough to lick the plate...and I would have if it were not for a quick thinking server who whisked the plate away when she saw the gleam in my eye. All this washed down with a steaming cup of jasmine tea. Ahhhhh, the simple pleasures in life. Dessert -a large slice of coconut heaven, AKA Coconut cake. Tender layers of white cake, spread with a vanilla butter and whipped cream frosting. Lovingly adorned with shredded coconut. Do yourself a favor...drop that ham sandwich on Wonder bread! Treat your growling belly to a Thai feast at Sweet Siam, post haste!

Happiest find of the year. Excellent Thai in Johnson county. We've struggled finding authentic great Thai food without having to settle for downtown's drunken noodles. It's quaint and neat and the food is excellent. The owner greats and welcomes and visits with everyone while dining here and insures great service. The waitstaff is solid professional and friendly. The chef has been a friend of the owner for twenty years and is from Bangkok. The decor has made major improvement and I hope it continues as it could use a few modifications to make it more cozy, but it's worth seeking out and frequently this little gem. Try their coconut Siam original soup "tom kah guy" potstickers and pork fric and pad se eu. Two big thumbs up!
(5)Teresa G.
I've eaten here twice and wasn't impressed either time -- also didn't expect to be. It's the equivalent of American Chinese food and passable in a region that doesn't have too much going on in terms of Thai, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese, which makes me sad because the few places I know of that serve food that actually tastes Korean/Vietnamese/Thai have such limited menus! Oh. Service has always been polite.
(3)Stacey B.
My son goes there a lot and wanted to take me there for dinner. I loved it. The décor is beautiful and the waitress was wonderful. The food was delicious. We got there early so appetizers are half off with an entrée and beers $2.50. Will be back to try the lunch specials. Very pleased!!!

I checked this place out a month ago or so. It was okay. The service was good. The food was good-ish, but I had a lot of "if only" moments. We had the calamari appetizer. Rings of squid, no tentacles (darn) in a batter. But ... the batter was a little too greasy for joy. Not disgusting, just - maybe could have fried it a little hotter. The squid was tender, it tasted pretty good with the sugary ginger dipping sauce, but. I had the panang curry, they make it with lots of green and red sweet peppers, a mild coconutty curry sauce. But ... the vegetables were really overdone, no crunch at all, limp and getting watery, and the sauce was awful sweet. My friend had the catfish. It was pretty good. I was sort of jealous, so I ate a bunch of his, haha. But it was a little too greasy too. I don't have a problem with americanized thai food, but I think Sweet Siam needs to work on execution a little. Everything was very sweet, which isn't my favorite but that's a subjective thing, others may love it. I suppose the name of the place warned me. Prices were fairly low. The care taken with the cooking was a little like that too.

This restaurant is simply the best Thai in the Kansas City area. Amazing curry, deliciously spiced noodle dishes, and a wide variety of Thai specialties combined with a lovey ambience and attentive service will make this a favorite of yours as well. Their featured entrees are always on point- with my personal favorite being the basil duck. Their appetizers are delicious- check out the pot stickers to see what everyone else is doing wrong, and the Larb is fantastic. Lunch specials are just a great deal- best Masaman I've ever had. (And they put sweet potatoes in it! It's a sneaky little guest star that steals the whole show!)
(5)Jordan P.
The gluten free options are excellent and don't make you feel like you're missing out. Good service, especially since there's one guy really on top of things that seems to oversee everyone and make sure you don't wait long, even if they're busy. The masaman and coconut soup are excellent and I get frequent cravings. I don't know if it's technically "authentic" but it's really tasty!
(4)Gii G.
I'm Thai. I think the food was not authentic. It was too sweet and greasy. I ordered a take out: chicken green curry, spicy pork & eggplant & garlic chicken. I asked for real Thai food but got just an okay to eat ones.
(2)Tony R.
Went here for a friends birthday dinner. First, for drinks have the sweet whisky sour, they make their own sour. We tried several of their appetizers. Our server was very attentive and made numerous recommendations. Our group stayed past closing with no problem (not that I'm suggesting anyone else try that).
(4)Alliey D.
After hunting for a Thai restaurant closer to my home yet equally as delicious for months, I finally found somewhere in the same league. However, I've tried a good 7 Thai restaurants after trying Sweet Siam, and this place is still, without a doubt, the absolute best around! I suggest the coconut cake(if you don't order it even as a take-out item you're doing yourself an injustice, it's seriously the BEST CAKE EVER!!) and the Spicy Coconut Soup- legendary (not even exaggerating!) And for the entrees, anything I and my fellow diners have tried has been AMAZING! (For the record, I don't use cap lock lightly... it really is that great.) If you like Thai, or if you like good food, this place will charm the taste buds off of you, pinky promise!!!!
(5)Lauren M.
My husband and I wanted to try this place. It was good, I got the crab angels, which is like crab rangoons. I also got the Pad See-U, which was pretty good too. The staff was great, they were very attentive and had great personalities. The prices were good, we love Thai but our favorite place's prices keep going up. This place is about $12-15 for noodle dishes, where our favorite place is more like $16 and up.
(4)Beth P.
I'm not sure why this place has had such high reviews. I love Thai food, so me and some friends decided to venture outside of our usual Westport and Overland Park faves by trying out Sweet Siam. Maybe we went during a bad time or maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but the other members of my party were dissatisfied, as well. One thing - I ordered the Ginger + Broccoli meal, and for some reason there wasn't any broccoli. However, there was definitely ginger... maybe too much. This was not good. Food aside, the service was fair. The man who helped us was quite rude and disrespectful. He spoke in a very unprofessional way when taking our order. We felt rushed through his service. Sweet Siam has quickly fallen to the bottom of my list. I'm going to stick with Westport and OP. Thanks, but no thanks!
(2)Julie V.
Best Thai food in town. Experienced several dishes with no disappointments. I meet friends to introduce to Sweet Siam and they agree this place does it right at a reasonable price. Do not miss the coconut cake to end the meal, great finish after some heat.
(5)Stephanie P.
Wonderful soft spring rolls. Pad prik with pork was great! Spicy coconut soup with chicken was good as well. Very nice ambiance. Pretty decor.
(5)Courtney B.
Awesome food! Everything I have eaten here is great. I have never dined in, only gotten to-go food. So I can imagine the dining in experience would be even better
(4)Julie S.
Sweet Siam has amazing Thai food that is quick and reasonably priced. I would recommend anything on the menu, to be honest. Nothing is too sweet or has too much soy flavor to it. The restaurant is clean and delightful. The food doesn't lose it's quality when it's taken to go either. Definitly a recomend if you want something different than what you usually eat when you go out.
(4)Kerry P.
Great lunch specials. I always get the duck curry as it's less than $10 during lunch! Such a great deal.
(4)Jordan B.
Great restaurant that's kind of a hidden gem. We went mid afternoon one time when they first opened and we were the only people there. I was so impressed with the newness and decor - it adds a lot when a business adds their own touches to make a place their own, and Sweet Siam outdid themselves. We were able to chat with the manager too, who was very friendly. For lunch I had the spicy basil stir fry and my husband had pad Thai. Both were amazing!!! I can't remember now what else came with lunch, but I remember us both being impressed. The second time we ordered carry out for dinner, and I got pineapple fried rice with chicken and cashews. It was good, but not as good as last time so I think I'll stick with the noodles. Also dinner was quite a bit pricier so I would definitely go for lunch. Overall beautiful restaurant with great food that is more fresh and original than other Asian/Thai places I've tried.
(4)Brent K.
Finally a thai place with a lunch menu. seriously thai places, LUNCH MENU, live it, learn it, love it. that being said, i kind of stumbled upon this place today and was pleasantly surprised. very pretty dining room, 7 dollar lunch menu, super friendly and helpful services, quick order and equally quick food that came out. i had the pad thai, because to me this is the make or break dish of any thai place, plus it's easy to tell if they know their stuff or not. mine was pretty good. i put a little bit of the house hot sauce on it, and it was damn near perfect. a salad came with it, i probably should have got the soup. it was nothing to write home about, but it was pretty large for a lunch side salad. alll in all, i'll definitely come back and try some more adventurous things, like the masaman chicken and the roasted duck with red curry, and if i bring someone with me, i'll try some appetisers as well.
(4)Phon W.
No, to this place. I had pad saw eww....not good might as well put EWW on the menu. My friend got the beef noodle soup which I'm guess is suppose to be like pho, not so much, tasted like a big ass bowl of boiling water and the pho noodle packet. I didn't see any Thai/asian people in here either, none of the workers or customers...that'd tell you something The service was great though!
(1)Ken A.
Lunch today. Had the chicken noodle bowl - don't let the name fool you - tons of flavor, textures. Highly, highly recommend it.
(5)Ann W.
A-OK just about sums it up for this restaurant. The hubby and I had tried to go there a couple of times previously and found the place to be closed during their stated business hours which was a frustration, but we continued to pursue because we'd heard good things. Our food was nothing to write home about, but for inexpensive Thai food, it was passable. The Thai iced tea was good. We had entertainment of sorts while we were there. There were two angry women sitting at the corner table near us who kept demanding they make major changes to the food as described on the menu and then got angry when they were told they would be charged extra. They were really mean to the server who was doing her best to placate them and the manager had to come over to calm them down. Why must people behave this way? Anyway, lunch was fast and relatively inexpensive and our server was nice. If I were in the area again, I'd stop by, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.
(3)Megan T.
I love their Pad Thai, and the house Spicy Coconut Soup is to die for! I work near this area, and we used to go to another Thai Food restaurant, but I am so glad that we decided to try this one on a whim. Very friendly and helpful staff as well!
(5)Angela S.
Since my initial visit which was prompted by the ValPak coupon I have had the opportunity to visit many more times. Subsequent visits have been much less chaotic after the grand opening/coupon fever died down which was overwhelming for both the restaurant and the patrons on that day. I have to say this could be my favorite tofu green curry in Kansas. My only complaint is that curry is not on the lunch menu. I would visit here once a week if it were!
(4)Casey P.
Yum! Living in Houston has spoiled me in terms of good restaurants so when I come home to KC I dread going out to eat. However, I yelped restaurants close by to where we were running errands and Sweet Siam popped up. This restaurant could easily be in Houston rather than KC. I was so impressed! We were there for lunch and they had lunch entrees for about $9, which included a starter of coconut soup or salad with ginger soy sauce. I asked the waitress which were among the favorites and she mentioned the masaman, which had a sauce that was similar to peanut sauce, with carrots, avocados, sweet potatoes, and chicken. The reason we decided to go here was to try and eat something healthy, but what fun is that when something like masaman is on the menu?! My mom had the thai basil with chicken, which was also very good. We both started with the coconut soup at the recommendation of our waitress and that was probably my favorite part of the meal. She said it was chicken broth based with coconut water, mushrooms, and tofu. There had to have been something else that made it look creamy, but we didn't really care since it was so good! Ill definitely be back during my visits to KC.
(4)Melissa S.
Based on a couple of my coworker's constant recommendations, I decided to try Sweet Siam. I am glad I did because this place is awesome. First impressions were that it was clean and modern. The staff was very friendly. I had the opportunity to speak to the owner and he informed me they grow many of their own herbs and vegetables. Very impressive if you ask me! He also told me that he has worked with Thai food for over 20 years. Both those things tell me he knows what he is doing. If he doesn't, I sure can't tell the difference. Now, moving on to the food. I ordered Spicy Coconut Soup with Shrimp and the lunch Pad Thai to-go. Price wise, EXCELLENT! The only thing I was sad about was that I would have to pay an up-charge to get all shrimp in my Pad Thai. Sad, but definitely not a deal breaker. It was still delicious! I didn't realize I could crank the heat though, so I will do that on my next order. The real star of the show though was the soup. IT WAS HEAVEN IN A BOWL! I think I might order in for dinner tonight. Everything I ordered was fresh, hot, and scrumptious. Needless to say, I will be back.
(5)Tonya G.
Update Review- Sweet Siam still rocks it on the food quality and selection. A year later and this restaurant is one of our favorites... Where can you get a freshly prepared lunch made with quality ingredients for $7???? Coconut Cake still remains top of the list, variety of menu items made mostly from scratch, will please every pallet. Check out the cool glass bar! Try something new and support a local business! You will not be disappointed!
(5)Jessica L.
Fantastic spot. Great red curry dish. I went light on the spicy and glad I did. I will definitely come back.
(5)Laurel S.
Love this little gem in my neighborhood. Had the pad thai as always but finally got to try the coconut cake which was good but so very big and rich, definitely share with friends!
(4)Lisa R.
I have gone to Sweet Siam Thai Bistro several times for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. They have wonderful lunch specials, some for only $7!! In my estimation, I think you get the same amount of food in the lunch portion as in the dinner portion. It's a great deal. Thai BBQ chicken, Duck, Pad Thai, the coconut cake--everything is wonderful. I have never had anything there that I didn't like. On one occasion I went with someone that wasn't quite sure they would like Thai food. They loved it! The flavor of the food is second to none. I like that the owner comes around and chats with you to ask about your experience and how your food was. He is very, very nice and seems to want to make sure you are happy. You don't get that kind of customer service everywhere.

The one star reviewers are nuts. I have had a variety of Thai food around KC, and this definitely straddles the line of traditional and fusion. But who cares? It's delicious. I had the yellow curry with Chicken. My date had the chicken masaman. Both were absolutely divine, and the coconut cake we had for dessert was great as well. Knocking a star for the strange service. Not bad, but as noted in other reviews...strange. It was dead when I got there at 5:45 - to the point that my date and I were the only two there until about halfway through our meal. When I got there the host was checking his cell phone and the one server was reading a paperback novel in plain view. It's offputting from a place trying to put forth a more upscale and hip vibe. That's not to say the service wasn't attentive or friendly. It was. But it didn't set the right mood off the bat. Luckily, the food, portions, and pricing make this place somewhere I'll be coming back to - soon.
(4)JD G.
The wife and I ate here for the first time the other night. Yes it is a bit pricey, but you get quality food. We ordered the spring rolls to start with and they were VERY flavorful. We both said they reminded us of being back in Thailand. I ordered my go to Pad Thai with tofu and it was a huge portion. I probably shouldn't have eaten all of it in one sitting, but I did. My wife ordered the Massaman Curry(her go to thai dish) and I tasted some of it. The sauce was spot on and very savory. The wife had enough that she took half of it home for lunch the next day.
(4)Anne-Mari S.
This is my first visit to Sweet Siam and I am a fan! I hail from SF Bay Area, mecca for foodies with options for all levels of Thai so I have high expectations. I have tried at least four different thai establishments in KC and I would say Sweet Siam is now my #1. Ordered: Yellow Chicken Curry Likes: Great sauce with perfect consistency, flavor, and texture. Chicken was cooked just right, not overly dry. good overall flavor. Their curry does not include potatoes but that is a preference and I really didn't care. Dislikes: Rice. They serve regular rice, I prefer a jasmine rice with my thai food to compliment the subtle coconut, but this was not a deal breaker. I will be going back and trying more on the menu! Loved the owner, he has decades of expereience in the business and great cooks in the kitchen.

First off, let me start by saying I have no idea what the one star reviewers are talking about when they mock this restaurant. Clearly they're either trolls or fools; you really should close your mouth 'cause your stoooodpid is hangin' out... Oh yeah I suppose adding "lol" to the end magically makes the previous statement ok. Anyway, now on to the actual review of this restaurant. The food here is excellent. We've been here countless times. We've made a point of trying a great variety of items on the menu and we have not been disappointed to date. Everything has a nice, full, rich taste and is elegantly presented. The pad Thai is incredible. Even my 80 year old father in law who rarely ventures from "meat and potatoes" loved his pad Thai. The varied curries there have a wonderful creamy taste and are excellently spiced. There is a fairly expansive menu with options to suit varied tastes. The crab bites (their version of crab Rangoon) are divine. The veggie spring rolls are also quite good. I also really enjoy the wide variety of vegetarian options, as just about all dishes there can be ordered with tofu. They actually put an effort into the taste and spicing of their tofu meals and it shows. And don't even get me started on the coconut cake....mmmmmm!! The owner is almost always around and makes a point of walking around the restaurant asking how the meal was and seemingly genuinely interested in the response, not just the formality of doing it. The service there can be somewhat awkward, but it's never been rude, slow, or even ineffective; just... awkward (you'll know what I mean if you eat there regularly) and honestly it's sort of an endearing trait and charm about the place. So all in all we love Sweet Siam. Every guest or visitor we've taken there (and that has been quite a few) has also loved the food. Our friends will drive all the way across town, even though they have a decent Thai place near them, to eat here. Don't mind the trolls and do give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

My family has eaten at this restaurant twice a month for the last two years or so. Recently, the service has been awful. It was challenging to even be seated, much less have our order taken or get our lunch in a timely fashion. Our waiter said the owner wasn't there due to an illness and the place just ground to a halt. Plus, our favorite waitress (Miriam) is no longer there, so don't have strong feelings about continuing our Friday lunch tradition. Sad thing is, the food is really good, but I won't put up with the horrible, non-caring service.

We did return and the review would go much the same as the last EXCEPT the cook, that evening, went waaaayyyyyy over the top with the hot spices. We were four and everyone had to reach for a Kleenex. Too much. Kick it back a notch. We'll see you again in the Fall. Keep that coconut cake coming!

This is the best Thai food in the suburbs of KC. Mike and his staff are very hospitable and the food is great! I recommend if for lunch and dinner, it is always fast and the environment is friendly. I love the Pad Prik, but everything I have tried is GREAT! You must try the Coconut Cake, it is the bomb!

This is a pretty solid place in my experience. It is not perfect by any means, but it's some very tasty food with good service at a fair price. Heck, after my last Thai experience at Mai Thai in Olathe, this place makes me feel like I am in Bangkok. My order was carryout, and it was pretty dead on a Wednesday at 5:10pm. The staff were friendly but seemed overly interested in my other Thai experiences in the area. If one guy had asked once, fine...but multiple employees asked multiple times. Kind of odd, but whatever. So my food didn't take too long, and I headed home through the rush hour, ready to dig in. We had ordered a Pad Thai with Chicken and a Panang Curry with beef. Once again, like at Mai Thai, we weren't asked about spiciness. Is this becoming a trend? I keep forgetting to give them my preference, but usually we get asked. The Pad Thai has a bit less color than normal, and was slightly dry. However, the flavor was solid and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The chicken didn't seem to be the best of quality, but it wasn't terrible. All in all, it was a tasty dish. The Panang Curry was great - some spice (though I would have preferred more), plenty of veggies, plenty of beef (which seemed better than the chicken in terms of quality). The rice it came with was sticky and good. Price wise, the two dishes were about $23 with tax, and we're getting at least two meals each out of it, so that comes out to $5.75 per meal - pretty fair. What I appreciated most, perhaps, was that even though I pigged out on the Panang Curry, I didn't feel uncomfortable full. They have plenty of flavor without making it overly heavy and filling. This place is plenty far from my house, and the only reason I went is because I was already in the area. I wouldn't necesarilly drive the 15-20 minutes to get here just for the food, but if in the area, I would certainly visit again.

Came here for lunch and had a great experience. Quick, attentive service, nice atmosphere, clean and well taken care of place. I ordered a Massaman and it has now become my favorite Thai dish. Would definitely come back for this again. The only reason it's not getting 5 starts is that the coconut soup was too salty. My friend had the spicy basil with tofu. She loved it but said there were too many peppers, and not enough green beans and basil.

I've had this place on my list to try for awhile now, and decided to make it my birthday dinner. It was an excellent decision! We showed up before 6 and were able to take advantage of the 1/2 price appetizers. We tried the pot stickers and thought they were very good with a very flavorful sauce. The staff was friendly and definitely helped us with our menu selections. Hubby had a cashew chicken dish that he really liked - it was listed as a spicy dish, but was fairly mild as far as spicy goes. I had a dish with scallops, shrimp and asparagus. It was wonderful! It had quite a bit of spice to it and everything, including the asparagus, was very fresh tasting. It was an entree, so it was a little more than I would have normally spent at a Thai place, but I do not regret my choice at all! I was also impressed that they had a choice of 2 red blends on their wine menu, that is a rarity in my opinion and I appreciated that as well. We felt that the prices were reasonable and the food was excellent and the only reason it did not get 5 stars was because of the fact that they do not have any window coverings and I continually had headlights from the strip mall parking lot shining in my eyes. If they could fix that, they would be a 5 star for sure!

I have never had a bad meal from this place. Bright, fresh flavors, and friendly service. The Crab Angels (rangoon) are about the only crab rangoon I even like anymore, but they have a lot of other tasty appetizers as well! Their lunch specials are an awesome deal. I wish they offered a lunch fried rice as theirs is so good. They are happy to make anything mild, but if you ask for it spicy - it will be. Some of my favorite entrees are the Spicy Basil stir fry - I like it Kaprow style which means everything is minced into tiny bits before stir frying, which is delicious on top of rice. The Masaman curry is extremely addictive. Oh, and the Pad See-U is also a favorite. Give this place a try!
(5)Natalie W.
Its was okay. What I got was a little bland and my fiance said he has had better. U got a lot of food for the price though.
(3)Theresa K.
This place is awful. Apparently, they dont know stir fry as their vegetables are terribly undercooked. Of anyone claims this is the best Thai food they ever had, they apparently don't know Thai food.
(1)Michelle F.
The service was perfect. Our server was friendly without being overbearing and always managed to pop over just when he was needed. The food was fresh and very flavorful. I'm very excited to go back, and soon! No longer will my car automatically head to KCMO when looking for interesting food. I love having this gem in JoCo.
(5)Jacob R.
Quit reading this and eat here! The pan fried catfish and pad Thai are amazing, the coconut cake is mind blowing. Great atmosphere, nice staff, and clean. The food is authentic by Thai chefs. Love it!
(5)Dina B.
I have been back several times-close to my office. I love people and the food. I had the beef and eggplant, no green peppers because I hate them. Since they prepare everything to order, you get exactly what you want. Not a dessert eater, usually too full and not much of a sweet tooth. HOWEVER, we saw a huge and lovely piece of coconut cake pass our table to a neighbors and went for it. I swore to only taking one bite, but alas, ended up stabbing a friend with my fork to grab her share. A MUST have!
(5)Alysse D.
We went as a triple date last night, no reservation, at peak dinner time 7:15. We were promptly seated, and our waitress Heather brought drinks quickly. The food was phenomenal! I had the soft shell crab it it might be the bed meal I've had all year! Go there, you'll love the food, staff, and ambiance!

I was looking for someplace new to have lunch with a business associate. Using a combination of Google maps and Yelp I ran across Sweet Siam. We arrived around 12:30 and were promptly greeted and seated. The restaurant only had a handful of diners, but I assumed they may cater more to the dinner crowd. The lunch menu was excellent. Being a vegetarian it was nice to see more than just one option. I chose the Eggplant stir fry with tofu. There was just enough heat to compliment, but not overpower the excellent flavor. My lunch partner had the Pad Thai which was also excellent. As a side-note, we both chose the salad over the soup and were served standard iceberg lettuce with a slice of tomato & cucumber. It didn't seem terribly inspiring until you got a taste of the amazing dressing. I don't know all the ingredients, but it was a ginger-citrus based concoction that made my taste buds dance. I could have drank it out of a glass it was that good. The decor is bright and inviting, the staff is attentive and knowledgeable, the lunch price can't be beat and even the dinner menu is reasonably priced. The Yelpers are right - this is a great place.

I don't pretend to know anything about the "authenticity" of Thai food, but I've been on a quest to find a good Thai place ever since I moved away from Lawrence. The first pad thai I ever had was at Zen Zero, and (I try not to, but) I still compare all pad thai to that. I live just around the corner from this place and my dad and I decided to give it a try for dinner. We always like to try to new places, and our first experience was great. I ordered the pad thai, which comes with a good-sized serving of both chicken and shrimp for $10.50. My experience has always been that places like this are usually stingy on the shrimp, but there were six or seven decent-sized shrimp on my plate - refreshing and satisfying. I normally love spicy food, but I find that I have to be careful when ordering Thai food - it's often much spicier than I anticipate. For my pad thai, I ordered level one (one chili, "spicy"). Two chilis is "hot" and three is "thai hot." Level one was perfect for me. This restaurant has a cool, contemporary atmosphere, especially the bar. The staff is also very friendly - it wasn't too busy on the Thursday night we were there and the server took the time to chat with us about the restaurant and how she came with the owner, a Kansas-native, from Birmingham, Ala. to open the location here. It's not a great location and I know several restaurants have come and gone in this particular spot. It's easy to miss when driving on Quivira, but it's on the east side, facing north. I hope Sweet Siam Thai Bistro can survive there because I would definitely like to return in the near-future!

My wife and I were looking for a great local restaurant to try for date night. We were not let down. We started with pot stickers and moved to the Spicy Coconut Soup (excellent!!!). Next we moved onto a great Pad Thai and had the ability to add heat right at our table. Finally we finished it off with some great coconut cake! Overall a great experience and got to spend a wonderful night with my wife enjoying great good. Highly recommend!
(5)Adam D.
Thoroughly surprised...food was excellent had the potstickers and spicy noodles...they were actually spicy which is something many restaurants struggle with to keep a big audience Definetly coming back...beer was cheap as well.
(4)Chris R.
Very happy to have a new Thai option in this area. It doesn't feel at all like a Thai restaurant. But the food has been quite good on both of our trips. Be sure to ask about Happy Hour specials. (The night we were there, appetizers were 1/2 price with an entree purchase.) Service has been quick and friendly each time. Hopefully they survive the current construction mess on Quivira Road. Tough luck to have that project start so soon after their opening. But I think it's only supposed to last a few weeks. In any case, endure the street work and enjoy this spot!
(4)John B.
Our office group tried Sweet Siam today for lunch, only ordered 5 lunch choices & 2 appetizers... I'm not really enough of an expert on Thai but I really liked my "PAD PRIK" choice. I did add shrimp for $2 ... Four of us really enjoyed the food, the fifth was stiffed, they shorted us an entree. This was a take out order, & probably relates back to the old saying - you get screwed in the drive through... Later...
(4)Amy O.
This was so yummy. The potstickers in curry sauce were amazing as was the pad Thai. I will certainly return. Love this place
(5)Jenny P.
Based on other reviews my husband and I went for dinner. Food was decent.... however, our service was horrible. Between the initial confusion of who was in charge of our drink orders and food delivery to the bad-mouthing near us of a prior customer, I don't think the food was impressive enough to overlook the disastrous service we received. Our water wasn't refreshed until we were finished eating, and that was also the point when we were asked if we wanted another round of drinks. There are much better Thai options for us to go to next date night!
(2)Steve S.
Excellently prepared Thai, and I do know Thai food. A bit less spice than I prefer, but the spice tray allows you to add as much as you want. Happy hour is sweet. Yum Woon Sen is awesomeness. Nice and clean, casual laid back environment. Spiked Thai tea is very good. Perfect service, great staff! Definitely will be back!
(4)Justin G.
The food was amazing. I had a beef, cilantro and lime dish and my wife had a crispy duck. Both were incredible. Some of the best Thai I've had, certainly in Kansas City. We also tried the chocolate wontons for desert. Very rich; think chocolate-filled crab rangoons. Delicious. Service was nice and helpful. Price a little higher than some competition, but honestly, its worth it. Give it a try!
(5)Gabriel B.
Very open atmosphere, friendly staff, great happy hour. Reasonbly priced entrees and true Thai cuisine. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
(5)Stuti J.
I am not a very big fan of this place. I find their sauces a bit sweet - nevertheless their service is great. Also, I love the salad dressing that they use for their lunch salads. I would go there for lunches for the convenience and service.
(3)Candace B.
Ok, My Husband and I were there last night and this was our first time attending. We have tried and let me tell you, TRIED several I mean several Thai places, some inexpensive and some just down right expensive (for 2 people). We Prefer to not eat at chain restaurants because you tend to get that hey we care about what we serve you attitude when you go to 1 maybe 2 only restaurants and they want to make sure they are putting their best foot forward, AND we know that tends to come at a little steeper cost but usually its worth it. We live in Basehor, KS and if any of you know where thats at you know that guarentees its a 30 min drive to anywhere for lunch/dinner so when we go north, Lawrence, South or even clear out to Independence and get mediocre food you just get annoyed with the level of food / service people think you are happy with. This restaurant 1) has such a charming feel very traditional but contemporary and overall just a very positive feel 2) they are out there to answer questions about whatever you might possibly have. and the BIGGIE Number 3, THE FOODI had Rice noodles with peanut sauce and chicken and broccoli my husband had Green Curry for dinner, we got the Potstickers (my favorite so far from ANY RESTAURANT) and for dessert OH let me tell you about dessert I got my ever favorite fried bananas and my husband got Homemade Coconut Cake. NOW You must go to this place HUNGRY because its very hard to stop I kept eating and eating and I just couldnt finish my noodles (so excited for todays lunch though) my husband was able to finish his and barely take a couple of bites of cake we conqured the ice cream that came with my bananas are are ready to take several of our local friends back because WE know they will love it.. So. Go to Sweet Siam Thai Bistro for Outstanding Food. Don't forget to say hello to the owner he sometimes can be seen around the restaurant.
(5)Jessi B.
A friend and I went here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The $7 lunch serving of pad thai was as good as any pad thai I've ever tried. The portion was easily enough to feed two girls or one hungry guy. Service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was clean and spacious. I'll definitely be going back to Sweet Siam for more of these $7 lunchtime noodle bowls.
(4)Kimberly S.
The food here was amazing. I the chicken dish with te avocados was great although it could use more avocados but i am a avocado freak. tHe pineapple rice was good but i think they may have overcooked it today because i could taste a burnt flavor to it... the coconut soup was awesome
(5)Tammi W.
This is my favorite Thai place in Kansas City. I lve way on the other side of town in Gladstone but would drive to Lenexa for dinner, it's THAT good.
(5)Jacob C.
Food was good. Service was terrible. Both waiter and manager were rude and had no clue what they were doing. Stay away.
(1)Sadye M.
Sweet Siam is a little treasure in Shawnee. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and clean. Our service was fantastic and the food was even better. The food was served piping hot and the flavor was wonderful. The chefs are from Thailand and use many ingredients locally grown (they seem to try to grown their own ingredients and use those in their dishes). I very much enjoy Thai food and I will absolutely be back. So glad to have such a wonderful local place to eat!
(5)Becky S.
I love this place. I have gotten take out twice now and will be back again. Love the freshness of the food. We ordered the Nam-Sod and the Spicy Hot and Sour soup and the Shrimp Green Bean Stir Fry. All of it was fresh and very tasty. Staff was very friendly upon entering the restaurant. Lenexa needs more places like this where you can get a great, healthy and fresh meal.
(5)Jesse C.
The service was excellent, you definitely get your money's with for the main dish and two thumbs up for the Thai ice tea. If you want the feeling of a neighbor hood restaurant then I suggest Sweet Siam. We will be going back.
(4)Ellen S.
I've eaten at Sweet Siam numerous times since fall of 2012 and it's wonderful every time I go. The food is prepared by chefs from Thailand-everything is fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The place also has something a lot of other Thai restaurants don't have-ambiance. Although it's in a little strip mall once you get inside you forget that. I've eaten Thai food at numerous restaurants in many cities and this is as good as any I've had. Even if you don't live close to Sweet Siam it's worth the trip. By the way-don't turn down the coconut cake. It's made in-house (like everything else) and it's delicious!
(5)Hannah R.
The only other Thai place that I think can compete with this one with the small one one 87th. When we first entered the restaurant we were taken aback by the beautiful decor. It's clean, bright, and very friendly. We ordered the soup (which was different but really good) and the salad along with (of course) pad thai and their pad prik. I've been to Thailand and tasted legitimate pad thai made on the streets and this pad thai was very delicious. Also, the pad prik was something that i was not very familiar with but enjoyed thoroughly. In addition to the great tastes, the presentation of the food was also top par. Overall a great restaurant and highly recommended.

Went to Sweet Siam today after The Pitch voted it Best Sexy Food. In order to determine what that really means, we my wife ordered the Pad Thai with Coconut Soup and I ordered the Masaman Chicken with Salad. Everything was outstanding. I would have never paid avocado, sweet potatoes and masaman sauce together, but it was fantastic, I wanted to lick the plate! Service was prompt, friendly and not too pushy. Prices were very reasonable for lunch, $7 per plate. We will be back!
(4)Meg L.
Pretty good stuff. Cute little place, looks clean. Its in a little strip mall, but it is in a good location. We went at lunch and ordered from the lunch menu, which is either 7 or 8 dollars, and comes with soup or salad. The soup was outstanding. I tried the veggie somethin or other and it was good, with good cuts of chicken and vegetables. Everyone with me also really liked their dishes, which were pad thai and massaman curry....give it a try!
(3)Jim C.
My wife and I love good Thai food and we've had our eye on this place since they opened. Well, we finally stopped in and were very pleased with what we found. The food was great, well prepared and the presentation was very pleasant. I had the green curry and my wife had the pineapple fried rice. Both were well above average. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone. If you've never had Thai then this is the place to start.
(5)Adam C.
Ever since the Thai Paradise closed on Grand Downtown, we have been looking for a great place for Pad Thai...and we found that here. Also, this place is the only place I have ever had a Crab Angel (Crab Ragoon) that I have craved for more. Great place for Thai food.
(5)John G.
No holy basil, no Thai chilies and a very weak long grain (not jasmine) rice. I like the concept of a bistro and it had a pleasant atmosphere. I'd like to see more authenticity on the menu. Service was good.
(3)Chris O.
Really good Pad Thai and reasonably priced bar drinks. The Scallops were a little gritty but that was on opening day and have been much better everytime since then. I'll be back here for sure
(5)Kristen B.
I am in LOVE with Sweet Siam Thai Bistro!!! I could literally feel a plethora of endorphins being released in my brain as I enjoyed the rich and delightful coconut curry soup. My favorite dish is the Masaman Chicken (also delicious with tofu!), along with crab angels and shrimp in a blanket. The staff is also very warm, striving to make each visit a pleasant and memorable one. Sweet Siam is definitely atop my list of favorite restaurants in Kansas City!!!
(5)Todd P.
Wonderful meal, from the delicious Sweet Basil Spring Rolls appetizer to the Chocolate Won Ton dessert and everything in between. The flavors are great, the service was good, and they have done a nice job on the new finishes. If you are looking for a great meal, and like a little spice, this is your place.
(5)Sarah S.
Their spicy coconut soup is my new soup craving. I had the curry chicken and it was delicious, but they were skimpy on the rice. The sauce was so yummy I wanted more rice or something to soak it up. Will definitely return soon.
(4)Eric W.
Everything here is top notch. The service is great and if you are new to Thai food they can make great recommendation, they even helped my wife, who suffers from Celiacs disease, find a dish that was gluten free. If you get the chance you definitely need to check this place out. The Pad Thai is great as are the pot stickers and basil duck.
(5)Lia B.
The food while edible, lacked flavor, spice, and used American vegetables, not Thai. This is what I would expect from someone who just took a class in Thai cooking.
(2)Tracy B.
The spicy coconut soup is to die for!!!! Must try...I had Chicken Pad Thai and it was good especially since you can use the spice at the table for extra kick. I'm excited to try more items.
(4)Neala B.
Not Impressed but had some bright spots. Waitress lacking in menu knowledge or any real concern over our experience. I ordered spicy noodles with beef and the meat was TOUGH, so much so that me, the hungry eat anything type left it piled in a corner on the plate. Which I think a competant server would have taken notice of... Noodles themselves had good flavor, nice and spicy. Daughter ordered vegetable dish add mushrooms and it came with NO mushrooms at all, again, waitress seemed unconcerned with that fact. I asked for muchrooms for the dish and got mushrooms in a bowl, no seasoning, just mushrooms. Ordered the basil rolls, they were fine, and the crab angels, which were obviously precooked and held somewhere until needed as they were lukewarm at best. We also both had the coconut soup which I liked a lot. I had tofu in mine, yum, and daughter had shrimp. Soup had a nice level of heat to it and flavorful broth. All in all, the problems overshadowed the bright spots and for a bill of $51.00 I don't think it deserves a second try.
(2)Nancy R.
I'm not an expert on Thai food but, on any level, the food here is great!! I only wish that it was closer to my home so I could get there more often. The prices for the quality and amount of food is very reasonable, even for the more upscale dishes. The wait staff is always friendly and helpful. The restaurant's ambiance is very nice and appropriate for dining with family, friends or for the romantically inclined, though keep in mind it is called a Bistro for a reason. The Basil Duck was very possibly the best duck dish I have ever had and the Roasted Garlic Shrimp with Scallops is absolutely delicious! My biggest dilemma, when dining at the Sweet Siam, is making myself try different dishes, though what I really want to do is go back to the duck every time. For those who must have dessert, don't pass it up here either. The coconut cake is to die for and the kids as well as the adults will love the chocolate wontons. Everyone within driving, walking, crawling distance must go to the Sweet Siam and try their amazing food--you won't regret it.

I decided to give this place a try. The interior was very nice and the staff was quite courteous. I opted for take out. I ordered an appetizer, soup and entree. My appetizer was the basil spring roll. They were quite tasty. Next I moved onto the coconut soup. Delicious flavor and the best part of the meal. My only complaint. The container leaked extensively. Lastly I moved onto the curry beef and rice. Here was my biggest complaint of the meal. The rice was horrible. First it was white rice. Second, it was a starchy mess. The flavor was fine, but the texture was terrible. Overall, it was a good meal and cost me around twenty dollars.

Really impressed! Our family was in the area for a doctor's visit and were very hungry when we searched the internet to find something local and try something new. When we got to Sweet Siam Thai Bistro, the owner greeted us with a nice smile. The decor looked upscale without being over the top. My mom mentioned how cold it was outside and how she would like some hot tea. To our surprise, there was a hot cup of Jasmine tea waiting for us when we returned from visiting their clean and tastefully decorated bathroom (even offered paper seat covers!) The ginger & soy salad was small but was perfect for a before lunch main course. My teen daughter who has several food allergies was impressed with the Thai Pad lunch plate full of rice noodles, veggies and sprouts. The server was very accommodating by having her dish made without eggs or peanuts. My mom tried the catfish and couldn't stop commenting on how good it was all the way home in the car. My veggie plate with chicken came with rice which I mixed with and couldn't believe how much food there was! I guess we've always been under the misconception that Thai food was foreign and spicy, but we were pleasantly surprised! It was more like Chinese food without being so heavy. There are menu items with a symbol for spicy, but we stayed clear of those. We saw that they have a full bar which we didn't partake in, but overall, this was a friendly, service-minded, tastefully decorated restaurant with incredibly tasty food tucked in a little shopping center off of Quivira and 77th. I took a carry out menu with me so I can make plans to get my husband to bring me out for a romantic dinner sometime soon.... yeah, it's that kind of place!
