Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Monday is definitely the day to go. We had $3 32oz beers to start. Server brought us breadsticks (if you sign up for text offers at the counter the breadsticks are free) and if you order a large pizza for the Monday night special price of $9.99 (they will discount a specialty pizza as well) you get two free kids meals. That combined with the Yelp Check-in offer of 20% a large pizza made this an affordable night. We had a Tuscan Chicken pizza. The chicken was sysco pre cooked, pre sliced. Not cooked on site, but not bad for me. I liked it. However one of my mates did not care for the chicken at all. The second pizza was the Luau pizza with bacon, pineapple and almonds. Bacon makes everything better. Prices for a specialty 12 cut pizza were up there....$23. Little hefty for me. Glad to be there on a discount night. My only gripe was that the salad came out with the pizza instead of prior to the pizza. Would have been nice. Did not care for the green house dressing but that did not kill the salad. Overall the crust was thin and a little flaky for my taste, but good nonetheless. Next time we are in town we'll be back. On a monday!

Pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was. Both sons and I enjoyed the pizza and atmosphere very much. Would highly recommend to others.

Great, great, great. Awesome service, great food, icy cold beers, great music, nice atmosphere and good menu. We stopped off here as my daughter loves Mac and Cheese on her pizza and this place has the Mac Daddy Pizza. I am so glad we found this place. After a day of running around with two pre teen girls this was the break we needed. From the minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Our server was great. He checked in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed but did not pester us like some servers can do. By the time we finished our meal I made the comment to my wife that if we lived near there it would probably be a regular place to visit. Sadly we are just in town on vacation.

If you like a cracker crust and not a good pizza dough crust then this is the place for you. Their salad is simple, lettuce, imitation bacon bits, some cheese, and a couple pepperoni slices then it's your kind of salad. Although their dressing is really good. Their price is rather pricey.

I've become a regular at their Lenexa location. I go 2-3 times a month during the day. Here's my typical experience, Ben sees me pull up in my truck and has my drink waiting at the bar before I open the door, then he gets my salad and places my pizza order and it arrives 8 minutes later. The salad and pizza is consistently good and the service is friendly. This store will suffer if Ben leaves. Give this guya raise.

Very very very good pizza. Staff were all super nice. It was our first visit and he told us we'd be mad that we hadn't been in before... He was right!!

We went in for a quick work lunch and came out Old Shawnee fans. The decor is rustic. The restaurant is neat and clean. The pizza was excellent. We commented that the crust reminded us of Pizza Shoppe, but we liked the sauce at OSP much, much better. Our server was a little awkward, but the ladies at the check-out were cheery professionals. Will I go back? Absolutely.

Great Pizza option added to Northern Olathe/Southern Lenexa. Though my taste in pizza is now gravitating toward the Spin! & Pizzabella rather than Minsky's or Old Shawnee Pizza (my first ever visit to OSP) I have to say I will be back. The makeover of the space is very very nice. They maximize a smaller space by lining the outer walls with booths and a few tables. Still feels roomy while being almost cozy with the use of wood throughout. OK so you go in and feel comfortable, what about the food!?! There are several lunch specials. I went with the personal pizza with drink and side option. Knowing I needed something other than carbs I passed on the breadsticks/garlic toast and went with the house salad. Yes it is iceberg lettuce. Still it is a larger size and has carrots, cheeses a couple pepperoni slices and . . . no dressing. Wait, the dressing comes on the side. Wait - it is in a squirt bottle! AWESOME! I was able to control the output of dressing and felt like a TOP CHEF using a squirt bottle to make fancy patterns with dressing. OK, I didn't feel like a TOP CHEF but it was fun and I was surprised I was able to use less dressing but distribute it much better. What about that dressing? House GREEN dressing? It is tasty. Don't know why it is a weird shade of green but it is garlic something and pretty darn good. I will go back on St. Patty's day just for green dressing. Pizza: Good crispy crust. I went all meat as I like my veggies on pizza when at the above mentioned pizza establishments. Plenty of toppings, good flavor. I was worried I would be needing a gallon of water to offset the salt intake (like some other pizza establishments which I won't name here). I was pleasantly surprised, no salt thirst ever hit me. Sum it up - I will be back for a solid meal.

OUR FAVORITE PIZZA IN KANSAS CITY! The owner and staff are friendly and wonderful atmosphere. Especially when they have live music. See for yourself!!

The food is alright. Pizza is a bit overpriced. We got the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was just mediocre. If you buy a beer in a bottle you will get 3.2 beer so be aware. No body wants 3.2 beer, come on!! Quit buying your beer from Price Chopper and get it from a real vendor.

This is my 2nd 5-star review of a small, local pizza joint in just a few days, and not too long after my husband and I bemoaned to each other the lack of good pizza in Kansas City. Well, good pizza does exist in the metro, and you can get one at Old Shawnee Pizza. My sister-in-law made a huge carryout order and they got it done right and in a timely manner. We started with an order of meatballs, which were succulent with hints of fennel. The red sauce that accompanied the meatballs nicely. But the pizza was the star. The first thing that I noticed was that the toppings were plentiful; no scant 3 slices of pepperoni or sausage or whatever. No, they cover the pizzas with cheese and toppings. The crust had a little bit of crispness, but wasn't cracker-thin, either. They have gluten-free pizza and attempted to cater to our request for no cows' milk on the gluten-free pizzas (they sprinkled a tiny bit of goat cheese on them). It's too bad that we don't live closer to Old Shawnee Pizza. If we did, this would be our go-to Friday night pizza place. As it is, though, we'll definitely make an effort to swing by when we're in the area for a good pizza pie.

Stopped at Old Shawnee Pizza after a baseball tournament in town. Very nice place, food was excellent, staff was super friendly! The seafood raviolis were amazing! Individual pizzas were great and salads were fantastic. Would definitely come back!

Really good pizza. Salad is good too. Cheap, quick lunch, quaint little place to visit.

Love this place! Our go-to for pizza nights for our family! I also appreciate the great customer service!!

Great service and good food! We got the Tuscan chicken pizza, breadsticks and salad. All were just as good as we hoped. Good prices and a fun environment for the family.

our server was great! food was average, ordered a meatball sub and my buddy had the ham sandwich. food took about 25 minutes from the time we ordered and it wasn't that busy. why on earth would you serve Block & Barrel chips? Perception is putting out a cheap product! Lays or Ms. Vickie's is not that much more. would love to see higher quality products being served and will pay a bit more for them.

I have been eating Joe "the owners" pizza since the 70's when it was pizza shoppe in old shawnee. The pizza is still great and it's nice they have added such a variety of choices to the menu. The old shawnee pizza in Lenexa is good, however , I think it's inconsistent at times. Shawnee pizza crust needs to be golden brown and really cooked well with dark melted cheese and it's not always. The salads attention to detail is lacking a little as far as big hunks of lettuce not chopped well etc. and finally the price I believe is a little steep. I realize it's good quality pizza but there are pizza places everywhere charging a lot less for good pizza . I think you bring your prices down in west Lenexa you will see an increase in sales .. Especially if you advertise !

It opens to the public next week! The new OSP takes over for a Victor's Chicago Pizza in the same spot (Victor's info is here yelp.com/biz/victors-chi… ) Delicious buffet and the same offerings as their other location. The ownership is very involved with Twitter so any issue at either location is quickly answered. I was able to attend the friends and family event this last week and the food was delicious, soda and beer cold and people friendly. Add it to your Lenexa Pizza options immediately!

Very impressed with this place. Food was great. Service was great. Love the atmosphere. Price was perfect. Loved the music that was playing.

Horrible, terrible, inattentive, miserable service. So many wait staff but such terrible service. Came in for a carry out order only to see 6 people standing behind the bar and not one offered to help. The person who appeared to be in charge was much more interested in stuffing her face with breadsticks instead of helping. I'll drive an extra mile or two to Spin! from now on. Even if the food is good, the service is horrendous so I will not frequent this place again.

Appears to be a decent pizza joint, but not a destination spot. The meatball sub is legit, but still seem to be working out the kinks on the atmosphere. Will go back, better lunch spot than full force dinner option (currently).

My favorite pizza joint. Perfect crust. Never had a pie there I did not like. Love the green salad dressing.

Just got him the meat locker what GREAT pizza, love the crust

This pizza reminds me of the first pizza I had as a kid......loved it! Loved the new decor with all the wood and stone, very comfy. They had a great variety of beers available. The service was great. Our group ordered a "Biggins" pizza, often when you order a pizza that large at some places the middle will be soggy or not even cooked or warm, but this pizza had lightly browned crisp crust throughout. The toppings were plentiful and the sauce was just the right amount......not overloaded like a lot of places. My new favorite! It was a little pricey, but well worth it in my eyes.

We've gotten take out from here several times. Always been pleased with the quality and service. 4 and not 5 stars b/c I really wish they delivered!

I was excited to try the new OSP, since it was close to the house and I had heard good things about the original OSP. My husband and I went last night and probably will come back, but it was kind of disappointing. We had a medium pizza with several meats and onions, black olives and grn peppers. Although it did have lots of meat, you could tell the hamburger was previously cooked, it was pieces of meat all the same size and looked like mystery meat. Also, there was very little cheese. The crust was crispy and nice. Our waitress was nice enough, but I had to wave her down to get a refill on my drink. Our booth was moving back and forth anytime we would move and when a family sat down in the booth behind ours it moved then. Might want to bolt it down! The decor is disappointing. Three stars is being generous.

Great Pizza and Salad Dressing, somewhat overpriced but still a good meal.
