This is a really unique place in Old Town Lenexa! As cool as Old Town is, admit it...There's really nothing here. Except for Jerry's Bait Shop. I love the cool little fish logos and signs everywhere. I'm a fisherman myself so it's just that much cooler for me! I came in on Taco Tuesday and was surprised to find myself with only a couple other patrons until I was alone after about 20 minutes. I was able to chat with some individuals who were as unique as Jerry's is..... All their draft beer was not working when I came. I was pretty disappointed. Until I saw they had 4 or 5 different Boulevard beers in bottles. Alright, I can make that work. I ordered five of the tacos. I can tell you that they must have been imported from Taco Bell. I mean I get it, 99 cent tacos, but these were straight out of Taco Hell. I was expecting a little bit more to be honest. After a while the crowd began to gather and it was a little more fun. I'll definitely come back just for the experience again.

For whatever reason, this was my first time here. Had an absolute blast. Came to watch my friend play bass. Wednesday night is open jam night. Regulars are extremely friendly, felt right at home. Amazed at how good some singers/players were. Adorable neighborhood dive bar. Felt like an "adult" dive bar. Drinks were fairly priced. Had their "bones", which are like pizza rolls. Meh. But I don't go to a dive bar to eat. I'm there for booze and entertainment, and Jerry's did not disappoint. Will be back for sure.

I love this place! Had a friend's 40th birthday party there. The live music was great with Art Bentley. A bit loud but super talented! The waitresses are friendly and SO fast!! The food though...who knew a little bar could have such great food! We had their "bones", which were like a cheese calzone with dipping sauce. The most delicious little things EVER. Also had the pizza buffet for the group, which was amazing! Will go back again, but will sit further from the speakers!

Visiting from Vegas. Had the pizza buffet for 8 bucks. Pizza was good. Service and atmosphere were excellent. Looks like they have good drink specials, will definitely come back for some late night brews.

This place is bad for people of color you can't get a drink I waited at the bar for over 20 minutes before leaving as I watched other people that were not black get served regularly this place should really be investigated for not serving anything other than white people

Lunch was good. Chicken Philly was juicy and delicious. They have a Thai vinaigrette that was awesome on my salad. Emily was super attentive!

I wanted to like Jerry's, I really did. I had been there once before long, long ago during the day for food and it had been decent enough. And I really want to support local music venues, but... Ordered myself a drink. The menu says "UV & Monster $3.50". Several signs all over the place say the same thing. It's been a long day, I could use a pick-me-up so I order one at the bar. "Do you want that as a bomb or a drink?" "Drink, please". Get drink, open tab, sit down. First one is a little weak, so when a waitress makes a pass after that one is empty (and it sits empty for quite a while), I ask for a double of it. I figure, worst case scenario, it'll be 2 of those, so $7.00. Then I get the tab, with 1 at $7.50 and one at $11.75. WTH? I ask the waitress about it, pointing to the menu I had ordered from. She says something about my having ordered a double, to which I explain I had one single and one double, and that doesn't explain why one of them was almost 12 bucks. She scampers away with my check to ask the bartender, who comes back out 10 minutes later, tells me that that $3.50 price is only for bombs, yeah, sorry the menu isn't very clear about that, sets my as-is tab back down, and walks off. Umm, ok. So, four stars for decent food and hosting music (although it's an awfully small venue, so you should really like your fellow fans). Zero stars for weak drinks and crappy customer service. You get 2 to average it out. I'll go see my bands elsewhere, which is a shame since most of the other venues are across the city.

We decided to try something new to us. So far the service is slow. Our server brought us only one menu. Apparently this place has only three menus. It is by no means a large place and it is a bar but, I would think they would have more menus. I decided on nachos for dinner and asked if I could get quest instead of melted cheese. I guess this was confusing and I had to simplify my question.at this point we ordered wings for an Appetizer that was about 15 minutes ago are still waiting. So the wings finally arrived. Despite ordering then about ten minutes prior to our dinner order they came out with our dinner. As you might have guessed my nachos were made wrong. The nameless server offered to get them made right. I declined as that I did want to be here too long. On a plus side the wings are good. Their ice tea however, is horrid.

Ok so a dive bar is not a place I would typically take a kid but we were enticed by the ad to watch the WSU/KU game on a Sunday afternoon, pizza buffet and drink specials so we brought our granddaughter to wait for her mom to pick her up. We made a very quick walk through only to find out it was too smoky to stay. The small patio was smoky. The patio door was open making the main area smoky AND there was someone smoking a cigar inside the bar. I'm not a smoker so I wouldn't have stayed kid or not. It's just not big enough to separate "the smoking area" from the bar. I've heard it's a fun place, just not for me.

Just had an excellent dinner at Jerrys. I chose a build a burger, and my dad got the club sandwich. The waitress made a mistake on my order, and instead of bringing me tatet tots, delivered something better! Some sort of cross between a french fry and a potato chip. Delicious! My burger melted in my mouth! I couldnt shovel it in fast enough! Great club sandwich as well. The waitress was appropriately attentive. Passing by our table and regularly asking if we needed anything. Atmosphere was as expected. Small, hometown, a little dirty, and very comfortable. Prices were affordable, food was great. Could I complain about something? Ok, the table had a bad flop to it, and my iced tea wasnt the best I have ever had..... it definitely wasnt the worst though.

This place is a Hidden gem. I'm not sure why it's always so empty. Tuesday night trivia is fun. Cheap beers and the bartender is amazing. She remembers your drinks and is fast. Foods great bar food. Owner/manger is always there too

Neat bar in old town Lenexa. Cassie is a good waitress, and the food is good and fairly priced. Free bar poker on Monday nights, plenty of TVs to watch whatever game is on. It can get CHILLY in the winter with the doors opening all the time to the front or to the smoking patio.

If I could give zero stars I would. The band sounded worse than a high school talent show. It was some sort of open mic/live karaoke night. We arrived in time for 1/2 price appetizers and ordered the combo for 6.50 (normally $13.99) thinking this was a good deal. However, it came out missing the skins and tenders. When we asked the server, she said those didn't come on the 1/2 price special. It wasn't noted anywhere though and she acted as though it was news to her as well. They did offer to add the items if we paid full price. The walls were in need of a dusting and looked like it had probably not been dusted since the day they opened. The server, Shelly I think, was very nice and apologetic...probably the best thing going for this place.

Wing and pizza are great. Tater tots were under cooked. A couple more minutes in the fryer would have been better. Our server Melissa was just ok

We had a Groupon to this place and the people weren't that friendly but the food is pretty good.....service is fairly slow as well but all in all it was a semi good experience.m

I was skeptical when I first pulled up. On the outside it looks very JoCo/beige but when you step in the door the wonderful world of the dive bar I had heard about reveals itself. I really liked the low-key, casual, chill feel of the bar. I was here for the $6 all-you-can-eat pizza buffet lunch so I can't vouch for the late night scene, but that's not to say I wouldn't go back to give it a shot. They have a great patio. Even going right after a large melting snow we reqally enjoyed eating out there. Beer specials were great, pizza was OK, but had a great crust. And come on, it is $6! I got a ton of pizza and a beer for $9. I would go back and look forward it. There is limited seating so get their early, however the pizza was pretty fresh until the last hour or so. I would go back if I was in this neck of the woods again.

Staff is friendly and the place is clean but that's the only nice things I can say about Jerrys Drinks are watered down and soda is flat. I had a 7n7 the seagrums barely colored the 7up. And the 7up was flat and way too sweet. My friend had a cosmopolitan and they said it was just cranberry juice. Won't be returning

Very cool dive. Came here on a Saturday night and paid the cheap $5 cover. Band was actually pretty decent playing some 80's classics but be fore warned it is LOUD! Fun neighborhood type bar.

This place is freakin' light years ahead of the Lee's Summit location, I can tell you that much! This is a pretty neat place to chill out. I have never been there for any music, but I'm sure it's even better then. However, I hate crowds...I mean, I really really HATE crowds...so odds are I'd avoid a busy music night unless I really, really, really wanted to see the band. The drinks here are poured up quickly and pretty strong, even on specials, but their liquor selection isn't the greatest. The beer is cold, and the selection is average - all your basics, and even some not-so-basics, such as Hoegaarden (in bottle only, though). It appears that beer and well drinks keep them afloat. The service isn't overly friendly, but it isn't rude either. It's fine. This place is definitely one that thrives on its regulars, but they tend to be pretty nice. If it were closer, I would come here a lot more often...however, considering the fact that they pour their drinks pretty liberally, this 22 block drive from my house means I usually have to space my drinks out over a long time period, and that doesn't work for me most times. I guess I wouldn't call this place a dive bar in the true sense, so it intrigues me that the word has been thrown around on here. I love dive bars, and this just isn't one to me. Heck, for one...it doesn't say "cash only" on the door!

This place is a SMALL bar/restaurant. The food is "OK". Typical bar fare. The wings are AWESOME! We had their iced tea and Bait Shop Rita for drinks/beverages. The iced tea was not good. We had read to stay away from it, and we would agree with that. Not sure if their urns aren't cleaned regularly or not? The Bait Shop Rita was AWESOME! The bartender, owner and waitress were all working their tails off to keep people happy. But here is a note....it's a SMALL bar....your wait staff is NOT going to be off the charts because they can NOT have multiple waiters/waitresses waiting on you. It's a RELAXED atmosphere....so if you are wanting 5-star service, go to a 5-star restaurant and pay for it! Their wait staff was attentive as they could be given the small amount of space and they were working hard to make us happy. It's a great atmosphere. The band we heard on Saturday was SALTED BLUE and they ROCKED the bar and kept a lot of people there. It was all good in our opinion and we WILL be back, especially if Salted Blue band is there! Thanks for working hard to make us feel comfortable and having fun with us! :)

There are a few key points that keep my review from being higher than a 3 star mark for Jerry's. I love the drink choices, the live music, and the location. They also have pretty good fries, tasty pizza, and spinach dip that's not half bad (even if the portion is small). BUT, there is very limited seating, and more than a few times, my date and I have had to eat at the bar (standing) because tables were taken up by ONE person where there should be 4-5. Service can be slow, because they don't staff heavily on their busy nights, and it's so hard to see or get through the crowd that the wait staff may or may not get to you when you need them. That being said, their hourly pizza special is fantastic on Thursdays. ($7 for a pizza at 7:00, $8 for one at 8:00, etc.) The pizza is almost greek in style, with a thin rolled crust, mild sauce and large toppings. This is a great place to go and see a live local band and get a drink. It is NOT the best place to take a date if you actually want to talk to them.

Fun hangout. The musicians the night I went engaged the audience well ... handling drunk hecklers rather well, and not getting bogged down. Timed the 'Hear the train a coming" line from Johnny Cash very well, as a freight train trundled along shortly thereafter. Indoor and outdoor seating. Pizza was good to snack on. Cool place to hangout.

I have been debating between two and three stars, but have decided on 2 stars for one very big reason: Cleanliness. I am a big fan of the dive bar, but by no means is that an excuse to slack on cleanliness. Menus and drink specials cards are always sticky, and your lucky if the table has had a good wipe down all day. The food, however, is really good. My favorite is the Philly, and the pizza is pretty good as well. Also, the staff is always really friendly. It's my local bar, and I will be back, and if they could just keep the place a little cleaner, I would happily give it a higher rating.

After some day drinking and an evening BBQ, I got my Jerry's Bait Shop cherry popped when some friends headed out for a night of boozing and dancing. This place is in a cool little section of Lenexa, right by some train tracks. The setup is simple, a long bar, some seating, and a small stage area. They have a large open air back alley that you don't see much of anymore outside of college towns. From what I'm told, they have live music nearly every night. The night I was there, it was "Brothers Green". Pretty awesome band actually, I'd check them out if you like jazz, blues, reggae, and hip hop. Service was fast, drinks were flowing, and people were dancing. Highly recommended for your dive bar fix in JoCo topped off with good people watching.

Jerry's is a great place to hang out and have a beer. Their pizza buffet at lunch is pretty good and their happy hour food is as well. My co-workers and I come here for the Bones (one of the apps) and a beer. It spells for a great happy hour!

There are dive bars and dance bars. And when you've been drinking, some dive bars straddle the line. Jerry's has the type of atmosphere that really sells me. When I feel a need to get together with my friends, the first idea that comes up is Thursday night with Jayson Kayne. Several beers in, the bar is the "horny section" during sweet caroline, and coming in too early for John Mellencamp's Jack And Diane. Every time. Never fails somehow. If you're looking for food, they really do have some great pizza, and have a regular lunch buffet that I've never been to, but my barmates relate is truly good.

Best hole-in-the wall lunch. Ever. So I was about 1.5 hours behind lunch and wanted some quality to-go food. I drove by Jerry's and decided to turn in for what expected to be a slightly better than drive-thru burger. Discovering that it was 1/2 price apps day, I splurged on a chicken quesadilla. Quick enough food prep, fun bar staff conversation during my wait. I return to the office with my box and was like WHOA! Presentation was beautiful! All the little sides neatly packaged individually for transit....not thrown in the box for luck. Lettuce, tomatoes, jalapeños, sour cream and salsa! Oh, and the spice mix grilled into my crispy buttery tortilla shell was worth licking off the takeout box. Yum! Can't wait to return, stay, and actually try a burger. Sure, it looked like a well worn bar, but it's only well worn if people continually use it.

On occasion I like to stop here for the lunch pizza buffet, which seems to be one of the few left around. Anyway, it costs $7 for all the buffet, drinks included. If anyone is familiar with Pyramid Pizza, this is the same deal: thinnish pizza with a fat twisted crust "heel", and honey on the side (I skip that personally). Overall the pizza is decent, and there is usually a nice variety. Sometimes they seem to have a little trouble keeping the buffet stocked with the old standbys such as pepperoni, cheese, sausage, etc, but give it a few minutes and they'll bring out a stack of pies.

Went to hear the band Allied Saints. The service was excellent. We arrived around 9 PM, sat down and within minutes had a server, (Jan), who took our drink order. Ordered the nachos for an app and they were served quick. Just wanted a half order and they were able to accommodate, Clean bathrooms. The band was excellent and the bar was a fun place to go.

Jerry's is a hole-in-the-wall, with the type of decor you'd expect from someplace that describes itself as a "bait shop." The bar is also fairly small, but that adds to its charm. When you're at Jerry's, you definitely feel like one of the gang, and that makes for a great time. Last time I was there, we befriended a guy named "Rick," Turns out his name wasn't really Rick, my friend, already in a couple of drinks, mistook him for another guy named Rick. (For the record, turns out that other guy also isn't named Rick, but apparently his name only "sounds like Rick.") Anyway, Rick was great, providing us some laughs. And that's what Jerry's in general is like; you meet new people, hang out, and have an awesome time. They also have live music there and a small dance floor. (I'm guessing it is a dance floor; maybe we were just being rude to the people sitting at the tables.) Because the place is so small, you can interact with the band. We interacted by grabbing the band's unused cowbell and clanging along. It was all cool at Jerry's. All in all, awesome experience. Jerry's is one of the few things worth crossing the state line for. (P.S. Skip the Lee's Summit location. Although the bar is bigger, the crowd is different and kinda weird.)

This place was ok although I don't plan on returning anytime soon. I attended a birthday party this particular night and was not too impressed with the service we received. I don't blame the waitress completely, the place was jam backed and it was an obvious staffing issue considering I only saw two wait staff in the entire place. We had ordered a plate of nachos upon our arrival and had waited almost 45 minutes for them. I had said something to our watiress after being tired of waiting and she came back not a minute later with our COLD nachos. That basically tells me she had forgotten about our order and that they were sitting in the window for at least 30 minutes. Is it that much of a task for the kitchen staff to communicate with the waitress and remind her about the nachos that have been sitting in the window??? She at least kept our beers full. The band that played the night we were there was pretty good as well.
