Well...I liked it. I like the atmosphere, the food and the staff. All are great. And for those three ingredients, I give 5 stars. The only reason I score it 3 overall is that it's loud...the place is loud. In fact while we were sitting there, I was was speaking at a normal volume saying "shut the fuck up" to the table next to us and they couldn't hear a word I was saying. I turned my volume up...nothing...why? Because the place is an echo chamber. I will go back...but I'll sit outside.

Hate to be one of those people who always give 5 STARS but Grinders was very good. The service was fast, the food delicious and I had a wonderful experience. I went to Grinders at Stonewall on a weeknight. They were very busy so I expected the worst. Although Grinders was packed, the noise level was not bad. You could still talk to your companions without having to shout. The service was super fast even though the menu said my calzone would take 20 minutes. It did not take anywhere near that long. Good was yummy! Portions size was generous and there was plenty to take home. Loved the decor, as well. All around great experience.

Finally! I tried Grinders. Nothing but cool vibes during reverse happy hour on a weekday night. I would really love to give them 5 stars but, those pesky gnats and mild sewage odor....sigh. However, it didn't ruin my experience at all! I'll blame the gnats on all of the alcohol. My husband didn't smell the odor. Whatever. Maybe the construction nearby has something to do with it. Who knows. Anyways, they have so many beers! My husband was in brew heaven :) One of the gnats got to his beer before he did. We were offered another one but, we saw the bartender pour the gnat off and top off the beer again. Yuck! Without asking, our waitress got us a clean glass with more beer. Thank you!!!! She was holding down the bar area by herself and still managed to give us good service (insert applause here)! The prices here are pretty decent. $23 for everything with our coupon. I ordered the Baja Burger medium well and, it was cooked perfectly! I didn't care too much for the homemade chips that came with the burger. We got the wings too with the wimpy sauce. Seriously, that's what it's called. I wasn't in the mood for anything hot, but, I think the wimpy was way to wimpy. I'm not that much of a wimp lol. My husband tried some beers from the "off the menu". He said both were good but, the Slow Ride was his favorite over the Scotch Ale. We'll be back to try some other items on the menu and more beer of course. We used a coupon from the value pack. 20% off. It can't be used on alcohol. The coupon expires when they finish construction there at I-35 and Pflumm. Winning....yes!

I love Grinders in the Crossroads. They lost a certain part of themselves with this Johnson County location, and can't quite recreate what they've got in the Crossroads. Whatever disappointment I feel about that is quickly erased by the arrival of the food. It did not lose anything coming to Johnson County. The pizza is amazing. The two for one deal for slices of pizza on Mondays make this an absolute no brainer. The slices are humongous and hang off the paper plates they come on.

Close to home, I've adopted this place as my favorite local dive to get a beer & watch the game. Known for their pizza, but the sandwiches are where they really shine... service has always been attentive, too, whether in the dining room or at the bar. Love the lawn & patio seating for the summer, too. Fun & a little bit funky, good place to chill with friends.

Always like this place. Really cool atmosphere and great service. Awesome beer selection and the food is great (except the chicken Parmesan).

My husband and I came in for a quick late evening snack and drink. We ordered the appetizer fries with cheese, my hubby had a beer, and I had their special Pigskin Punch, which was delicious! I'm writing a review, not for the food and drink, which was top notch, but for the AMAZING service we received from our server Molly. Our every need was met in a timely manner, and her recommendations were perfect. She was genuinely friendly (not the faux friendly you find at some restaurants), and her perky attitude made our visit incredibly enjoyable! We will definitely be back, thanks to Molly!

Just back from Grinders Stonewall. I was able to sit outside (which I love) and spent three enjoyable hours, reading (initially), eating a delicious calzone (which took some time but was oh so well worth it), and visiting with friends. A relaxing a pleasurable evening. The absolute best part? Our server, Molly! She was attentive, animated, knowledgable, and helped to make the evening fun. I will be back and hope Molly will be my server.

Taco Pizza night fell flat...black bean base, no cheese, baked lettuce. Not again for us.

Love this place! They have fun game set up to play while you wait outside, nearby bar Outside as well! Plenty of drinks and good eats to choose fun! Fun, inviting, cozy environment! Will defiantly be back again!

Food and service is Mediocre quality at best; bad bar food in a basket. Too noisy to eat dinner on a Thursday at 6:00.

Ate here last Saturday. Very busy, but great atmosphere, and fast service. We sat inside, but the outdoor are looks great. Food was great. We had pizza and wings (very hot!) Casual, fun & funky. Would recommend!

The family and I have been a few times since and enough times to know when a place is doing the right things to be successful. Every time we have visited the service has been great. Different server every time, but all of them friendly, helpful, and attentive. My daughter ordered a slice of pizza the other day and when they brought it she said that the slice wasn't large enough to be called a slice in their book so they were fixing her another. Great staff! Each time I've been I ordered something different. From the pizza, philly, club sandwich, etc. everything has been very good. Same goes for their beer selections. Always changing, with new craft brews to try. As I stated in my previous review I cannot wait for spring so we can sit out on their shaded, beautiful patio. Look forward to going back, especially because it is one place that my entire family agrees. Thank you Grinders!

The best thing about Grinders is their outdoor space and ambiance for families & kids. Their downfall is low quality food. I ordered their goat cheese salad and the lettuce came wilted. Our family shared the Philly Cheese steak "Gourmet Pizza" which was described on the menu as coming with Red sauce, philly meat, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, provolone, and mozzarella. The cheese that came on our pizza was bright yellow and tasted like velveeta The entire pizza was just bland in my opinion. The menu is fairly large so I would just try something else next time if my family goes again.

While I was excited for Grinder's to come to JoCo, some of the reviews kept me away because they mentioned crowds, noise, and mediocre service. I guess I can think of other places nearby that are not packed where I get excellent service. Well, finally a friend suggested we meet here for dinner. This was the night of the World Cup Finals, so I anticipated a crowd. It was not crowded at all! We actually sat right in front of a big screen TV so I could see the match. Our server was plenty friendly and attentive. I ordered a whole beef philly made my way, as this is probably my favorite thing to order anywhere. I was underwhelmed after all the hype about Grinder's cheesesteaks. I had three gristly bites and a couple of fatty bites. While the flavor was decent, and the cheese whiz was delicious, the overall impact of yucky cuts of meat destroy a sandwich for me. I would not order it again. The bun was also just "meh" and nothing memorable. A little dry, actually. That being said, the beer menu is pretty decent and definitely surpasses anything else in this particular part of JoCo, so I would come back for drinks at the bar. I think it is a shame that the locals put up such a fuss to prevent live music. The outdoor space is pretty phenomenal; you cannot really see it from the road, but it would have been great for music.

One of my most frequently asked questions to Kansas Citians is, "Who makes the best cheesesteak in Kansas City??" And, the most frequent answer is, "Grinders!" I often get cheesesteak cravings to satisfy my Philadelphia hometown itch. Well, I can finally say I have tried Grinders, and I was very happy with it! This Grinders location is relatively new, located just outside the city. For me, it is closest to my apartment, and near the mall, so perfect for me! My GPS took me there successfully, although I thought the building was a bit unusual for a restaurant. I entered Grinders for an afternoon lunch and sat at the bar. The place had a pretty cool vibe and there were a lot of people in there. I ordered a cheesesteak with fried onions and cheez whiz. My sandwich came out quickly, probably in about 10 minutes. The sandwich was a good size, definitely not skimpy, as non-Philadelphia cheesesteaks often are. The cheesesteak was not cut in half, which made it a little difficult to eat. I ended up cutting it in half myself and it made it a lot easier to eat. My first bite, I was impressed. Tasted very close to a cheesesteak back home. The cheez whiz was slathered loosely on top -- I wish it was either mixed in with the meat or spread on the bottom (which would be a more "authentic" technique). Of course, I ended up mixing the cheese and the meat together myself. The most important part, the bread, was CORRECT. Hallelujah! Amoroso rolls! The roll was lightly toasted, I suspect to conceal the slight staleness of the bread, which didn't exactly work. I forgive them though, the roll did travel a long way to get there. And I would much rather have a stale Amoroso roll blessing my cheesesteak than some other imposter. Amiss the technical errors, I really enjoyed my cheesesteak, and will most certainly be back. Thank the heavens this place exists to offer their comendable cheesesteak efforts.

So glad we finally dropped by. Friendly staff & like the home garage style atmosphere. Good amount of room but the inside dining spaces still feel like you can have an intimate meal. Tried the Rangoon & liked it. Loaded up on crab that has a sea water salty taste, creamy cream cheese & a bit of heat. Shared a medium pizza that came out pretty quick. Maybe a touch too quick but tasty. Be aware: bathrooms a little weird, the stalls are in the bathrooms but the wash sinks are out in the hallway. So please Don't forget to wash-up after walking out. I was washing my hands when a guy came out of the men's bathroom & walked right by without stopping. Nice sized beer menu & a lot of outside space for groups & kids. We'll be back.

Finally came here when it wasn't so busy. The atmosphere was festive & casual. I started off with a Crispin hard cider on tap (my new obsession). It was $6 which is a little more than some other places but delicious nine the less. After visiting with our very helpful waitress Rylie - I ordered the Mixon sandwich with homemade chips & the hub ordered a philly with the mix cheese (provolone & cheer whiz) & upgraded to the Gouda casserole. Our order came out in a timely manner. I couldn't believe how tender my brisket was! The BBQ sauce was a little sweet with a slight kick - yum! I added a little salt to the chips. They had a great crunch but seemed a little over cooked to my liking. The Hub's sandwich was tasty & cheesy & I really liked the casserole but thought it should have been a slight bigger portion for the $2.49 additional cost. Overall my drink, sandwich & great service will bring me back.

I have been to the Grinders at the crossroads several times and loved it. While I still enjoyed this newer location, I feel like there is something off about the atmosphere. It's a nice place but rather than feeling eclectic, it feels like the little girl trying to copy her cool older sister. It's endearing, but not quite right. My husband and I got the crabby rangoons to share, he got a philly and fries and I got the curried chicken salad and gouda casserole. His philly was huge, juicy and delicious, and the fries were normal salted crinkle cuts cooked perfectly. (I saw someone complain about their fries excessively... But I like them! I think they're simple on purpose... They balance all of the complex flavors, which grinders has an abundance of.) I love curry and I love chicken salad so I thought my sandwich would be amazing. The first bite was terrifying because it had a hugely disproportionate amount of curry seasoning in it. It was overpowering and I was so sad. I think something was just clumped in that bite though, because the rest of my sandwich was pretty good and more balanced. The gouda casserole was a little bland, but grew on me. The more I ate the better it got. I think I'll keep my chicken salad and my curry separate from now on but I'll definitely give the gouda another shot. Also... If you're only going to go to this restaurant once in your life, you pretty much HAVE to order the chili bomb pizza. It's a national treasure.

Golden was on point with the service during happy hour on the patio. You can't beat $4 double wells during happy hour. I just wish they'd bring back boneless wing Wednesday!!

Good food, good prices, and great service! I had the wings, chili bomb pepperoni pizza, Bengal Tiger, and a steak and cheese with everything to go. The cheesesteak was the only let down, it had little to no flavor and only one cheese when I requested both. Everything else made up for it, especially Dahlia our server who was super friendly and great!

I went at 7 on a Friday night and it was crazy crowded, and loud. As crowded as it was early on, by 10:30PM the place had almost cleared out. The places is very small inside and tight. There are tables outside to account for this. It's a really nice atmosphere outside. There are tables, and benches, and a few tailgating type games to play while you wait. Service...When we got there, we put our names on the list to be seated. It was a nice night out so we decided to go to the bar for drinks and wait to be seated. It was SO loud and crowded in there, I wondered how we'd be notified when our table was ready. I went back to the attendant and asked. She said, "We'll come find you; we'll call your name." Good enough. Well, after about 20 minutes I went back just to see how much time we had left. She said, "We tried to find you. We marked you as gone." No one tried to find us. We were right outside on a bench. So we had to wait more. Food...I had the hot wings. The sauce was great (Molten is hotter than standard buffalo and tastier), but the wings we a little soft and rubbery. The fries were as plain as I've ever had. But this place isn't known for wings really. Everything else I've had there at the KC Grinders (burger, tacos, pizza) has been good. Over half of the beers came in cans, and I didn't care for that. Paying $5 for Corona in a thin can was kind of a let down for some reason. All in all, it was OK. Cool outside atmosphere, decent food and service.

I love there pizza and their wings are probably the best I've ever had! Servers are usually always friendly (had one that was not ). Prices are a little high and it is a small Place that gets packed but overall it's a good spot.

I have to wonder about all of the negative reviews by people with no other or minimal reviews on Yelp. Disgruntled neighbors who didn't want Grinders in their neighborhood to start with maybe? I love Grinders. I was excited to hear they were opening another location and it did not disappoint at all! The service was fantastic. The greeter was friendly and very personable. The bartender was also very friendly, nice chat while keeping busy and she let me know about the happy hour specials for timing my future visits. The real over the top in the service was the manager (I think he was the manager being he seemed to make the decisions) was getting ready to taste some new beers to decide if he wanted to add them to the menu. He could have tasted them with the distributor, but asked if I would like to taste them also. He introduced himself (and I am terrible with names, so forgive me), discussed the beers, and didn't seem like an employee. It was like sitting next to buddies enjoying a tasting flight of beers. great job by everyone making me feel welcome and providing fantastic service. I have to say, the service is a plus over the Crossroads location. The food is Grinders. If you like their food you will not be disappointed here. I stepped away from my normal pizza loves and went for a pastrami sandwich. Grinders has a pretty legit pastrami. I like the options of various sides although there is an up-charge if you want something other than the chips that come with the sandwiches. The decor and feel of the place is different than the Crossroads location. This isn't a bad thing. The Crossroads vibe wouldn't work in the burbs, but they can make Grinders work in the burbs. There is a great outdoor area to sit and eat or drink. I noticed there are game options too. The music is loud. Very loud. Definitely cranked up to 11! A good mix of rock music blasts out the speakers which may attribute to the loudness. This is an easy fix for lunch dinner time and the level may be more appropriate for bar hours. This is a quick drive for me after classes. Great prices on amazing pizza slices will have me taking advantage of the new location. If you live out south give Grinders Stonewall a shot. Go in with an open mind and not the "not in my neighborhood" mentality and you will be pleasantly surprised. Great addition to the chain wasteland!

Disappointment is defined as a Philly cheesesteak with no chez wiz, even though it was ordered with. Also the wings were about a 4, bad even with a sliding scale for takeout.

Looking for loud? This place has you covered! I said THIS PLACE HAS YOU COVERED. Still didn't hear me? That's OK just smile and nod while you sink your teeth into that thick juicy burger. We're all going to leave here happy anyway. Within a few minutes of arriving for lunch with my coworkers we were all cracking up at the T-shirts the waitstaff was sporting. Our server confessed they are trying to bring some of their signature "Downtown Edginess" to Lenexa. The duct tape that was covering the expletive on her shirt told us it isn't quite working yet. Ah the delicate sensibilities of the suburbs. When you walk into what looks like an old timey cottage, the vibe is anything but country vintage. The tables are made from recycled bowling alley hardwood and there are metal street signs on the ceiling. It's small and it's loud. Ff you prefer to sit outside, lots of picnic tables (patio, or shady grass) await you. We ordered and while we waited for our food we mostly just smiled at each other and the tried to keep from elbowing the people sitting next to us at the next table. It's cozy. We heard a man exclaim with very colorful language what a good meal he was having. I had heard that profanity could be used to describe something you like, I guess I've heard it all now. My mushroom swiss burger was pretty good. I was disappointed that for the price paid it didn't come with a single side. (Toss me a mini bag of lays potato chips even?) However, the quality was worth it, that was one BIG patty and so juicy I felt the need to be hosed down afterwards. The guys all loved their lunches too and the talk around the table was that we should have come for lunch at 4pm and had beer instead of iced tea. Good tip!

WOW!! Before I wrote this I wanted to peruse the reviews to see if I was the only one disappointed with Stretch's new south JOCO creation and I'm surprised as hell that most are pretty good!! My family is VERY familiar with the Crossroads location as we frequent the area for business. We have eaten there frequently so know the food and menu well; and know the flaws and mishits there. My buddy wanted to try it out so we went last night ( Friday) and man it is really bad!! No atmosphere whatsoever. If he was trying to imitate the old location, he failed miserably! It looks like he cleaned it up a bit, hung a few signs and called it "good". Now to be fair, most of JOCO suburbia will be ok with this because they like things nice and safe and family friendly, but if you travel the metro area and like hitting all the local places, bars and restaurants and other funky places, you will think this location is very pedestrian. The Crabby Rangoon were nowhere near as good as the Xroads location and they were burned on the tips. The taste was basically your average Chinese carryout with no real taste of the crab. The guacamole looked very fresh but I didn't have any so cannot comment. It was the freshest looking thing. Two of us had the Philly's and as with the old location; big but NO seasoning or flavor and the meat was tough and rubbery. And I have never understood why he doesn't at least offer Au Jus or horseradish sauce. Our other friend had the Roast Beef sandwich and he was very unhappy about it. Frankly I am not surprised that much. It is kind of what I expected. What I didn't expect is that the place would be so Spartan and plain. The dining room looks kind of like it did when it was the Stonewall Inn. My recommendation? If you want Grinders, make the trip to the Crossroads where you can have better food, surly, slow service from the staff and an actual Unhomogenized downtown experience.

Great lunch on the patio! The steak Sandwich was excellent ! Definitely get it with the cheese Wiz! My wife enjoyed the fried goat cheese salad and the California BLT. She said the Cal BLT was phenomenal!! The couple we went with both got the Reuben and they had nothing but good things to say. Overall, a great value for ALOT of GOOD food! We'll be back for the pizza!

Sorry to do this. love the owners. love the manager the vibe is great but the food just sucks. $10 for inedible sandwiches... the meat is terrible. Thus place will fail if it does not get its food act together. Stretch is on notice. we want you to succeed but the food (pizza is ok) is really bad and not improving----overhaul it please!!!! This is posted as a hopeful warning!!!!

First time at Grinders Stonewall and I was pretty impressed with the food and service. The atmosphere is hip and not your average Joco chain. One big issue we had though and probably affects us coming back is they don't appear to be kid friendly. Like, not kid friendly at all. I get it that your other location is downtown but now you are in the suburbs. Lots of families live in suburbia, and what do families in suburbia like to do? Go out to eat. No kids menu, no crayons, no free drink. The waitress suggested a $6.00 hot dog for my 2 year old on top Of a $2.50 Sierra mist. Date nights come rarely, if ever. But family dinner out comes maybe once a week. I can't afford to bring my kids to Grinders for a $10.00 meal that they will eat 5 bites of. Get some crayons. Cater to families...suburbia appreciates it.

Great mimosas.....that's probably the only thing I have to say about this place. There are way too many tables in this place, it makes it SO crowded. Took waitress 10 minutes to get to our table after we had sat down. Got nachos and guac for lunch.....the nachos tasted awful. Guac was yummy though.

I have always loved the crossroads Grinders and was ecstatic when they decided to buy the old Stonewall and turn it into a Grinders!!!! The food is the same great food. My friend and I walked in and sat at the bar and ordered food to go. We had a beer while we waited and took in all the decor which is fabulous and people watched. The clientele is a little different than the crossroads, a little more yuppie is a good way to out it. I like the feel and atmosphere of the crossroads better, but the service at this one is faster and more caring. We ordered a California BLT for me, a Philly steak for her and a Big Ass burger for the hubby to go. We got home and the perfect was perfect and still hot. Love the chips they make in house. Bartender was great and triple checked our order for us since we had special requests. Think we found our new go to bar. FYI is you are looking for quiet bar and room to spread out this is not your place. It is loud and close quarters. You will need to talk loud to be heard and not mind sitting next to everyone. They do however have outdoor seating and yard games. Good place to hang outside and not have the kiddos get bored.

I'll be honest, I was a bit hesitant to try Grinders after hearing about a lot of bad reviews. I had heard stories about warm beer, wrong orders and rude staff. I also heard stories about the neighborhood nearby getting upset about the new restaurant, and wanting to shut it down. On Friday night I wanted to grab a bite at a local place (I despise big chain restaurants like Applebee's) and have a good beer with my dinner. I had never been to the location in the crossroads before and thought the Lenexa location might be a good place to start since I live only 5 minutes away. Maybe if I like the Grinders here, I'll only like the one in the crossroads that much more. Plus I wanted to find out if there was any truth to the stories I heard about the place. When we arrived at Grinders we were told there was a 15 minute wait. I expected the wait would take much longer since the place was PACKED! It was so busy people were waiting outside. It was 7:30 on a Friday night so what can you expect? I'm honestly surprised the wait was only 15 minutes. After being seated we ordered our drinks and dinner. Grinders has quite the beer selection. I love how they organize their beer menu so you can easily find a good beer to try. They break the beer menu down into types of beer, like stouts and porters, ipas, wheat beers, browns etc. With so many different beers to choose from it's hard to make up your mind! I went with a left hand nitro milk stout because I hadn't had one in quite a while. It was served COLD in a COLD beer glass the way beer is to be served. By the way if you like either stouts or good craft beers and haven't tried a left hand nitro yet, you're missing out! Remember to pour hard! Now where was I? Oh yeah, so we also ordered an appetizer because we both were really hungry. Almost ordered the chips and guacamole but decided to go with the funky dough. I'll try the guac next time. So we didn't really know what to expect with the funky dough. The menu made it sound like breadsticks with mozzarella and Italian seasoning. It turns out funky dough is a 12 inch pizza crust with mozzarella and Italian seasoning! It was really good too! I'd highly recommend it. For dinner I ordered a margerita pizza, and my wife went with a bacon and pepperoni calzone. The calzone was HUGE! I tried a little bit of it and I was satisfied. Not saying it wasn't good, it was quite tasty. Just saying there's one other place in town that has a better one. The pizza was great! Best pizza I've eaten in the suburbs! Grinders says their pizza is New York style, but I think it's kind of a New York/Artisan hybrid. It's thin. REALLY THIN. Pretty crispy but not in an overcooked kind of way. The inside is a minimal amount of doughiness. I'd love to get the margerita pizza again but there's so much other stuff on the menu that sounds awesome! So after my experience I find it hard to believe the bad things I heard about this place. Maybe they're true, maybe not. After my visit I'm no longer curious about those stories, but am curious about others such as the place being haunted. Hope to learn more about this on my next visit. I will be back soon for more and I can't wait!

Hubby and daughter and I stopped here for dinner one night. I was curious to see how the new restaurant was in this neighborhood location. When we arrived, the place was busy. There were people hanging out in the back yard, the patio was full and there was a wait for tables. We grabbed a spot at the bar and enjoyed a drink. The bartender was friendly and seemed to enjoy his job - always a plus! We started our dinner with an order of hummus and I was very pleased that they brought extra pita bread so that we were able to enjoy as much of the hummus as we could. That was a nice touch. Hubby thought the beer selection was good. I ordered the Rueben sandwich which was very good - I loved the addition of jalapeño. Daughter tried the Hillbilly burger which was really messy but had a good sweet BBQ sauce. As a group, we decided the fries were not worth the extra money. Hubby had the California BLT - and he thought the bacon was excellent and the avocado was a nice touch. We all thought the homemade chips were good. Our waitress, Alex, was very nice and efficient. We will certainly return for another visit.

Great Pizza and what a mix of brews! It also was nice to have a "backyard" for the kids to play in while we waited.

Had a late night dinner at Grinders Stonewall in Lenexa last night around 9:00pm. The inside was pretty packed and loud so we opted to sit outside at one of the picnic tables. Grinders has managed to keep the great outdoor ambience that the old Stonewall Inn had and it was very popular on this night. After being greeted promptly by our server, we were disappointed to hear that there were no nightly food or drink specials. We opted for the Real Crabby Rangoon, buffalo wings, and 2 single slices of pizza (sausage and tandoori chicken). The homemade rangoon was good, with real crabmeat on the inside. The wings were a big disappointment as the skin was soggy and almost slimey...no crispness whatsoever. The pizza was great, and we especialy enjoyed the tandoori chicken which I have never seen on a pizza before. The crust is thin and just the right amount of crispy. Grinders has a large beer selection of both standard domestics, and craft brews from around the country. Overall it was a good dining experience, however without any nightly drink or food specials it will be hard for it to crack our regular rotation of other area establishments such as Barleys Brewhaus, The Other Place, Fred P. Otts, Minsky's and Brewbakers. Maybe Grinders has nightly specials on other nights, but they didn't on this particular one which was enough to make us second guess next time.

In fairness we didn't have the pizza which is what they are famous for but my hubby and I both had a salad and sandwich combo. My sandwich was ok, it was a BLT with avocado. The bacon was really sweet though which I didn't love. The salad I chose was the goat cheese and it was really good but only 1 piece of goat cheese which seems a bit of a rip off. We also shared the side of gouda augratin potatoes and they were just so-so. I may go back and try the pizza.

This location is a bit hidden, but it's worth a stop. I went in for a quick lunch yesterday during my workbreak. We sat at a hightop table in the bar as the place was pretty packed. I came in wanting shrimp and pineapple on a slice (at 11:40am), but was told they were out of shrimp. I settled on pineapple only and a house salad with ranch on the side. My husband ordered a calzone and the real crabby rangoons. The crabby rangoons came out and were really tasty. Then the salad came out and it was drowned in ranch. I'm not a fan of returning food when I can't see the entire preparation. I'm sure the kitchen staff is trustworthy, but I'm still wary of what might come out with new orders... Anyway, I couldn't eat the salad (as that much ranch would mess my stomach up in a bad way). The pizza slice came out and it was huge and very tasty. Our waitress then let us know that my meal was comped because of the salad. This made a mediocre-poor experience change to a mediocre-good experience. The decor is fun and the beer list seems decent (had I not been on a work break, I would have gotten one of their draft Boulevards). I'll definitely return though I'm going to steer away from salads (or any kind of special order that isn't pizza related).

Okay, just got back from here for the second time because our first visit was very lackluster and was told we needed to try it again.....so we did. First visit hubby and I split the cheesesteak (yuk) and some chicken wings, which were so good we ordered more. Wish the second order was as good as the first. They were soggy and undercooked. Cheesesteak was dry and flavorless. Second visit was better. Boneless chicken wings were crunchy and hot. Hubby ordered pizza, which he really liked and I had the Ahi Tuna Salad. The tuna was great! But they left the dressing off the salad. Small mistake to easily fix. We ordered some pizza slices to go, they brought them out on a plate. Another little annoyance. But the beer and service was good. Just trying to figure out why everyone loves this place.

I was excited to hear that Grinders was opening a location out my way as I love the downtown branch. This was my third trip back to this location, and the worst. To start off the day, they had ran out of champagne for their $2 mimosa special by 12:30. Ended up having to go with $5 Bloody Mary's which were just average and had only a lime for garnish. Strike one. Next, up was the food. I tried their omelette with hash browns. The omelette came with a choice of 3 ingredients, so I opted for shrimp, mushrooms and onions. The flavor was good but skimpy on shrimp. I think I came across a few baby shrimp pieces, that's all. Plenty of mushrooms and onions though (onions could have been chopped up instead of whole rings). Strike two. On to the worst part. Service. I'll will preface this part. We did arrive in waves, but when the new arrivals sat down, it was at the end of the table so there was no real shifting around of seating positions. Food and drink orders were slow to arrive or missed altogether. I think our server should have been writing down his orders and who ordered what as he received them. This would have helped with the massive bill debacle. When we all got our checks, they were completely off and we had to have them sent back 5 or 6 times to have food and drink properly assigned to each party. After a few times sending the server back inside he was frustrated and dropped the F bomb while saying it was because we kept adding more people. This is your job, deal with it in a professional manner. Instead of taking one check in at a time to correct it, he should have stayed there, wrote down who had what and went to fix it all at once. This would have cut down the 20 or so minutes we waited on checks. This one debacle will not shy my away from returning as this is not the normal service I've had, but it did put a bad taste in my mouth.

Potential. Great pizza. Good beer choices though room for more local beer. Great neighborhood atmosphere. The patio is the true gem here. The manager I met is a terrific guy. They seem to be trying. I had breakfast one Sunday and was quite good. Bad news is other than pizza, the food leaves alot to be desired. Worst fries ever in history and tried them numerous times--- never cooked and tasteless. Tots are never cooked. Even the sandwiches marginal. The ghost of the old Stonewall kitchen is haunting. I post this only to hope they improve cause the place is hip and cool. I am cheering for them. :)

Good food, good location! I love the "choose two" options. My favorite combination so far has been one slice of pizza (Philly cheesesteak and the BBQ chicken pizzas are delicious) and half of a grilled Caesar wedge salad. That being said, there's tons of stuff on the menu and certainly everyone will be able to find something they like, from pulled pork sliders, pizza, wings, and salad. They also have a huge bar, and daily specials! Everyone that I've interacted with is very nice and friendly, but for some reason the food always comes out at very different times, very staggered. But other than that, I've had good experiences with servers and bartenders. I really like this Grinders location and can't wait to sit in their really cute outdoor seating area once it gets a little warmer!

I've eaten here twice since it opened. I can give this place 5 stars on service. We went with a group of 15 on a Friday night. It was pouring rain outside and this place was PACKED. We were told 40 minutes to get a table and were sat within 20. Waitress accommodated our two tables, three families, and nine kids with a smile on her face. Food varied in stars. The adult raved on the Phillies, the kids loved the pizza. I had the goat cheese salad. The fried goat cheese was good but the salad and dressing was disgusting. The dressing was gritty. Returned a second time for a weekday lunch with my dad. He had a Philly and loved it. I had the West Club. It was nothing to talk about. One star. I think their prices are a little high. Next time, I'm getting a pizza and sitting in the bar area.

Fantastic food! So much to choose from!! Even with a party of 18, the food came out fast and the service was wonderful. Had a mix of about everything on the menu at our table and there were zero complaints. They DO need a better sign on the road though so its more clear when you aren't sure of the area.

Just went to Grinders and don't understand what all the fuss is about. Philly Cheesesteak was rated # 1 West of Phllly or just as good. Had the loaded one w chez wiz and trust me it wasn't loaded as in the food paradise show or other shows the owner Stretch was featured. Maybe it's just this location and the original is much better. Who knows maybe I'll give EM one more shot !!!!!

This was my second experience at this restaurant. The first time was a blast the waitress was prompt, she was friendly she even happen to know somebody we knew, it was a good time and good laughs. The food was great and the first time everything was cooked perfectly all the ingredients tasted fresh and prepared correctly. It was a little cold the first time I went and they had heaters outside that made it tolerable and we could enjoy their scenery in the back patio there. It was great! So great that I had to go back a week later... Unfortunately the second time was not that great. While the weather was perfect and scenery was beautiful like last time. I felt both my food and the service was very subpar. First off they have great mimosas that are well priced during brunch. But they ran out of champagne. I have experience in the restaurant business and I understand that it does happen sometimes but I have also worked with restaurants that make the effort to do whatever it takes to make the customers happy and usually restock especially when it's liquor or alcohol since it so frequently available. Not a big deal just a little grumpy that I didn't get all the mimosas I was hoping to flush through my liver. So I made do with a bloody Mary. The bloody Mary was not very good it was overly peppered and how we had a line for the garnish which is a little on but overall it was okay. my meal was about the same it was only okay. The hashbrowns weren't fully cooked and were a bit mushy, the eggs that I ordered were a little overcooked and my Sunnyside yolks were not very sunny side at all as the yolks had set when they should be very runny and my toast was soggy not crispy like my first going. Also the biscuits and gravy were very cold and just seemed to lack flavor. Now this was my first time trying those based on all my friends recommendations from the week before. But even they said it didn't taste right this time around. But what made the experience not fun this time around was the service. Our waiter was clueless on how to handle a large table. He never wrote anything down and seem like he took one order at the time ran back and then came back to do another order back-and-forth. Now I will say we did have a couple of friends show up late but it did start off with eight seats so we only gained two more people than anticipated which is not that hard to accommodate for especially when each of them didn't even eat and just ordered one drink. When it came time to get our checks everybody's order was wrong. No exaggeration here, everybody's order was wrong. One of our friends only had a drink and he ended up with three people's orders on his check. The waiter was so lost on who ordered what. He couldn't bother to take one minute to write it all down. He just kept running back n forth and never stopped. I can understand that you can be a little overwhelmed with the larger group but we only had about 10 people. Which isn't that terrible and i also made it very easy for him and took the time to write down my correct order on the back of my incorrect receipt I gave it to him and told him that's exactly what I got and he said okay thank you goes back brings out another receipt and it is completely wrong again. Maybe there was something wrong with the register maybe it was just bad timing but he was frustrated and he certainly seem like he was frustrated with us like it was our fault for having a big group of people. I'm no stranger to the "French" language but when you curse towards your customers for doing nothing but trying to pay for what we actually ate that is just terrible. Overall it was just not a good experience this time around. I will go back and try again in hopes that it will of change by then but this outing left a sour taste in my mouth. Giving them 3 stars based on both my experiences as a whole. The first time was great the second was just awful. If you happen to get the waiter named Nathan just double check your receipt to make sure you didn't get triple charged. Can't fault a restaurant on one waiter but overall this experience for me just wasn't that good. Here's to hoping the 3rd time around is a good one.

I love the food and the atmosphere. The prices are a tad high, but the experience is worth it. It's like eating on vacation just off the beach and in a small tourist town that has not been commercialized.

We really like the food here. My biggest complaint is that they do not have gluten-free pizza crust or buns for the sandwiches. They have a great barbecue pork slider. That I can order without a bun and it is still plenty of food. I like the homemade guacamole and chips.

We have been to the new Stonewall location 3 times now. Each with typically the same group of people. Last time 8 this time 10. Last time our experience was great! The waitress was prompt, nice, and made no mistakes on our bill for a "larger group". This time however our waiter was short with us, and took 20 minutes to bring out one drink for someone who ordered after our food orders were put in and at a slower time. When it came time to get our receipts they were all off. Each one had extra drinks on them and half had the wrong food item. We didn't move spots and most of us ordered the same time. We were all polite in pointing out the error no big deal. But he seemed to get annoyed and started dropping curse words as if it was our fault he didn't write down our orders or place them in the computer correctly. I don't believe a customer should be talked to like that when we were all nice and some wrote down what they had to help our waiter out. I should also mention there were children near by who could hear what he was saying. It was amazing to see the difference one waiter can make on your experience. Nathan was our waiter and he doesn't seem suited for this kind of work. I am sure we will go back but probably ask if he is working and if so for a different waiter. Food was great but service was awful. Ps they ran out of champagne for the mimosa special but that didn't phase us since the food and atmosphere typically make up for it.

I am a fan of Grinders I live within walking distance and I basically live here. I love the staff & the food. Cassie and Dustin are great! Service has always been great. The food has always been extremely disappointing. Most recently I ordered the Large Marge burger. The bun was a nice substantial bun that didn't immediately go soggy and fall apart. That's was the only positive the burger had to offer. I ordered the burger to be cooked medium - it was cooked medium well and dry (maybe why the bun didn't get soggy?) The burger meat had been way over-mixed creating an extremely dense and rubbery patty. The meat was heavily seasoned with garlic. It tasted more like sausage than burger. If you're going to screw with a burger by putting something other than salt and pepper on the meat, warn the customer first. The lettuce/tomato/onion/pickle setup was served to the side of the burger, but that didn't keep the lettuce from being wilted before even touching the burger. The tomato slice was only a 2" diameter slice from near the butt of the tomato. When I pay those kinds of prices for an a la carte burger, I expect an awesome burger. The Large Marge wasn't even sorta-kinda good. The fries I ordered as a side???? Well, if you've ever baked crinkle cut Ore-Ida fries in your oven at home, you've had Grinder's French fries. If food quality doesn't improve, I give this place 12 more months before they close their doors.

First off, I love Grinder's in downtown KC. I make it a point to visit that location AT LEAST once every 1-2 months, if not sooner. The atmosphere is perfect on a saturday morning (well, if you call 11 AM morning). The music isn't too loud, the wait staff is VERY prompt, and the food is spot on. Now, for Grinder's Stonewall. I feel like they lose some of that magic in their Lenexa location. The music is WAY, WAY WAY WAY too loud for anyone. If I have to yell to talk to the person sitting next to me, turn it down a little bit. Their Breakfast isn't nearly as good as the location downtown, and the service leaves much to be desired. I DO have hope for them though. Unlike other reviewers on here, I have worked in a restaurant, AND my family owned one for many years. The restaurants just need some room to grow, and they will be fine. If you go here, try out the shrooms, and make sure when you get a pizza, CHILI BOMB IT! Another little gem are the crab rangoon, they are the best you can get!

Have to say, not really impressed. Had the wings and a house salad. Wings weren't crispy, very small, although the sauce is really good (sort of a Thai-buffalo blend). House salad was avg at best.

I have to say I am extremely upset that they have gotten rid of the Boneless Wings Wednesday's!! It was the only reason I would come on Wednesday's! Can you please bring them back??

I tried to call in a pizza to go last weekend and was essentially told to go get intimate with myself. While that may sound appetizing, I really wanted the pizza. I ordered D'Bronx. It was delish!

Bartenders Cassie and Vinnie are awesome. !!! Only 2 things wrong with this place. 1. Loud due to signs on the ceiling and acoustics. 2. No bottled bud light only cans. Great pizza. Management is professional and courteous.

Grinders Stonewall is awesome... My favorite is the south philly... Loaded with both cheeses and jalapenos. Reuben and Pizza are also good choices. Always friendly and great outdoor patio!

Fantastic food! So much to choose from!! Even with a party of 18, the food came out fast and the service was wonderful. Had a mix of about everything on the menu at our table and there were zero complaints. They DO need a better sign on the road though so its more clear when you aren't sure of the area.

Good tip!

Great food, great location! The food is consistently good, the beer selection is amazing and the staff is fun and attentive. I particularly like the Pastrami sandwich, the BLT and the Death Wings. Brunch is wonderful, don't forget to get bacon with whatever you order.

Great Pizza and what a mix of brews! It also was nice to have a "backyard" for the kids to play in while we waited.

Good tip!

Very excellent hangout with good bar food. The pizza is legit, as is the Philly with authentic roll. The patio is cool and servers were friendly.

Enjoyed it! Will be back to try more. Had the Really Crabby Rangoon, BBQ pork sliders and my wife had a slice of pizza. Service was great (thanks to Kait). The place has charm, and it's close to home.

Fantastic food! So much to choose from!! Even with a party of 18, the food came out fast and the service was wonderful. Had a mix of about everything on the menu at our table and there were zero complaints. They DO need a better sign on the road though so its more clear when you aren't sure of the area.

I have to say I am extremely upset that they have gotten rid of the Boneless Wings Wednesday's!! It was the only reason I would come on Wednesday's! Can you please bring them back??

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
