Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

First time eating there for lunch today and I was blown away! My wife and I both were extremely happy with the quality of food and service. General Tso's Chicken was amazing! It was lightly breaded, sweet and spicy with all white meat chicken and the Moo Goo Gai Pan (which I don't usually like) was delicious! Great Egg Drop Soup, Crab Wontons and Fried Rice! Never seen sprouts in Fried Rice before but it was a very welcome addition! In one fell swoop, Fortune Palace has become my new favorite Chinese Food dine-in/take out/delivery place in the area! If you eat here and are somehow disappointed, I would say it's you that has the problem and not the restaurant! ;-) 5-Stars all day! LOVE it!

A-ok lunch here because the lunch Mongolian beef was great... 4 stars with the tender beef, grilled green onions and fabulous flavor. Everything else was just ok, though I wouldn't crave it again: The Rangoons were made with unusually thick wonton wrapper (which I didn't care for) the plum sauce was on the thin side and had little flavor, the honey chicken was too heavily breaded and the pieces a little smaller than I like. The fried rice was too heavy on the soy sauce. It was all edible, but just not great. The service was attentive; she checked on us often, which we appreciated. The interior was comfortable and we would give other entrees another chance if we are close by as the lunch specials were very reasonably priced, but I won't drive out of the way.

Headed here for dinner when my FIL was visiting from Texas. Claimed he hadn't had good Chinese food in a long time, and it's definitely getting harder and harder for me to find somewhere I actually want to return as well. We ordered the family meal for three, which was more than enough for three adults and two kids!! Soup, appetizers and three entrees. We decided on mu-shu chicken, singapore noodles and beef with garlic sauce. While some of the appetizers (everything from crab rangoon and egg rolls to spare ribs and chicken wings) were a bit heavy, none of our entrees were oversauced and all seemed reasonably healthy. The service was also good. The only negative was the tables - they had a really sticky cleaning film on them and we had to try out a few before we found one that wasn't.
(4)Jeff N.
Service was wonderful and timely, very nice and active. The food was surprisingly better than I was expecting. Usually new places I set the bar low, but this was quite the delight. The egg drop soup was some of the best I've ever had. A bit on the salty side for most, but that's definitely a plus for me. The crab rangoon was good. We got seschuan chicken for us and sweet and sour for the kids and both were really good! Definitely a new, close favorite. For our little family o four, it was 30$ with an entree and kids meal.

We've been Bo Ling's loyalists pretty much our entire time in KC, and while I give them the edge for food quality, Fortune Palace's delivery option keeps them near the top for us as a easy dinner option. We pretty much get the same things every time, changing out one entree for another as the mood strikes us. The beef lo mein is outstanding, and the appetizers are pretty good. Our standard order is egg rolls, crab rangoon, and a cup of hot and sour soup. We split our entrees between General Tso's Chicken, or their hot braised chicken dish for variety. They are so great about how they package the food for delivery...the hot braised chicken, for example...they pack the sauce separate from the chicken so it doesn't get soggy, and even "vent" the box the chicken comes in so it doesn't get condensation, which ruins the breading! Really great attention to detail, and always fast delivery. We live just a couple miles from the location, and it's not uncommon for them to deliver within 30 minutes of ordering online! Oh, did I forget to mention that they have a wonderful online ordering system? Quick and easy, and super efficient. Fortune Palace is definitely a place that deserves your business. If you find yourself in Lenexa, or maybe out by Oak Park Mall, give them a try! You won't be sorry!

Hunan chicken and shrimp was cooked perfectly. Crab ragoon very good. Very comfortable atmosphere, no loud woks smacking around and actual chairs/booths to sit in. Priced right as well.
(5)Bob H.
Very good food. Excellent service. Should be more crowded. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the area. Very excellent vegetarian dishes. You need to check it out.
(5)Brandy M.
Great atmosphere and service. The food was also delicious and very tasty. The Leftovers the next day were even better!
(5)Justin S.
Best Chinese in Kansas City! My wife and I eat there all the time. Quick service and delicious.
(5)Mike S.
This little gem is tucked away, but so worth seeking out. Top quality food. The appetizer platter is definitely the way too go. It has become our Chinese top choice!
(5)Todd J.
Excellent restaurant. Some people say a place is good if they have "never had anything bad" there, at this place I have never had anything that was not excellent. Lunch special is a ridiculously good deal (6.95 for an entree, soup, egg roll or crab Rangoon). Highly recommend
(5)Sarah M.
Great food. Fast delivery! Love the crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, and crispy honey chicken.
(5)Jenny C.
I actually really like this place but it is a little pricy. The shrimp rolls and crab rangoon are amazing and I love their sweet and sour sauce. The quality of the food is very good. The one thing that bothers me is you can't get fried rice without onion. If I'm paying this much for fresh food they should be more a accommodating. That's the only reason for not giving 5 stars.

Comparing Chinese restaurants has become an "apples to apples" pro-con list. Everyone has the same items, for the most part, and most prepare things the same way. There isn't anything revolutionary about Fortune Palace in this regard. Despite the "different name, same food," moniker, I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality and service of Fortune Palace after several visits. FP serves up all the American Chinese favorites, unlike their close neighbor ABC Cafe (known for more traditional Chinese fare). All of the meals here have been great so far. Chicken w/cashews, general tso's chicken, sesame chicken, and their house chicken entrees are all reasonably priced (about 10 bucks) and come with a generous helping of rice. Again, nothing revolutionary here. Crab rangoons, an extra spicy (pepper) hot and sour soup, and some large egg rolls. One of the nicest things you'll notice about FP is the number of patrons eating in. Some Chinese places rely solely on take-out customers. It's great to see people eating here, to me a sign of good quality and good service. Enjoy a meal here soon. You won't be disappointed.
(4)Kay M.
Got take out from fortune palace tonight and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the sesame chicken and my friend ordered the sweet and sour chicken. Both were fantastic. The wait was only 10 minutes which is amazing. The place looked super clean and not too packed for a Saturday night so I will most definitely be going back and will try dining in.
(5)Jeremy H.
Just ate here for the first time and I'm very impressed with the decor and cleanliness of the establishment. I like my mongolian beef done a certain way and this place topped it. I will definitely recommend this place to all my friends and will be back very soon. Even though my dish was absolutely amazing the service was not. I was barely welcomed when I came in and the servers did not seem happy at all. I do the usual "please" and "thank you" but there was barely a response given on their part. Also, I was very thirsty throughout my meal because the staff didn't check on me until after my meal and I had to wave down my waitress a few times just to get her attention. Overall, great place, great food, mediocre customer service
(4)Mark G.
Ordered dinner over the phone to be delivered. Food arrived earlier than promised, was piping hot, and delicious. Ordered General Tsao's Chicken. I found the portions to be larger than most Chinese restaurants in the area. Driver was very courteous.
(5)Melissa F.
Simply put--the food is fine, standard Chinese fare. They deliver which is a huge bonus. In addition you can order online making the process super easy. I recommend the lo mein noodles.
(3)Pam T.
The Kung Pao Shrimp was good! Fast and friendly service. It's a reasonable price too! We'll be back to try their lunch specials :)
(5)Karinne H.
The food is hot and fresh, and delivery is free for a $15 minimum. I live in a weird neighborhood set-up, so it took awhile for them to find me. The portions seem to be generous for many dishes. However, I do find it frustrating that they charge so much for the tofu dishes. The crispy tofu with spinach is at the time of this review $10.25 for a small tub of nice warm, brown sauce (no complaints) with an unreasonably small container of tofu cubes and a measly portion of spinach in a half-empty container. At least the vegetarian dishes still get free rice, but surely they ought not cost as much as beef. They also offer a tofu soup with, counterintuitively, chicken broth instead of veggie (I had to find this out by calling them). It really is bad customer service to think that vegetarians will buy something thinking it is one thing, and then put chicken in it. I can't SAY that is what is happening here (maybe a lot of meat-eaters order tofu as well?), but it would be great if they'd crack open a carton or two of veggie broth instead. I hate complaining, because I think some of their food and service is great, but not these areas.
(3)C Jude S.
This is still my favorite place for Chinese cuisine. They put so much care into the preparation. The service is still excellent. Nothing but love for Fortune Palace.
(5)Matt G.
Surprising find in a strip mall! Excellent dining experience. Lots of carry out moving through the restaurant but don't miss dining in! Excellent food, polite staff, super clean and comfortable. Moo shu pork and family style tofu was delicious. Will be back.
(5)Bryce H.
Man, this is the best kept secret in Lenexa. Anyone who isn't from Lenexa has no idea where this place is, but whenever I talk to locals, it's their consistent #1 Chinese restaurant in KC. I wish that it were better known or located for the owner's sake, but I'm just thrilled that such an amazing establishment is just a couple miles down the street from my house. Haven't had a bad meal here, and I've been going for...what, 3 years? Lunch menu is an amazing price ($6.95?) for all the food you get. If you're a local and passing by 87th and Quivera area, you owe it to yourself to give the place a shot. Ah, and tried the fried rice, preferably mixed with their teriyaki chicken...it's a knockout combination.
(5)David A.
Great expectations as Charles Dickens said.......Sadly, NO :( I went here for lunch and got the Honey Chicken (as the lunch specials seemed to be more American style Chinese versus authentic). It came with fried rice and hot and sour soup. HUGE portions! The staff kept my water filled and came over often to check on things. What did I think of the food? The Hot and Sour soup was spicier than most places, which I enjoyed. The fried rice seemed quite salty and heavy on the soy sauce and didn't really "pop." I put some hot mustard on it to give it more of a zing. The chicken was all white meat which was a plus, but the pieces were small and mostly batter. It tasted like I was eating batter, not chicken. To top it off, it tasted more like honey mustard sauce and not honey sauce on the chicken. It really tasted rather bland. The ambiance was rather plain, which is OK. They do have a few TV's on the wall, but it is all kind of blah. The lunch special was inexpensive (under $7 for huge portions, enough to take home leftovers). However, if portions are what you're after this is the place. For me, I prefer quality over quantity and this does not fit the bill. I didn't order fried batter for lunch. No thanks :(

Wow. We just got back from a wonderful dinner at Fortune Palace. We arrived about 5:30 and were pleasantly surprised that there were only a few people there. Therefore it was a nice quiet atmosphere to be able to talk without having to hear the neighbors talking. The crab rangoon are some of the best we've had in town and the fresh made pork egg rolls were amazing! The hot mustard was hot without being painful. The Triple Delight was extremely flavorful and presentation was complete with a nice radish flower. We also had the crispy honey chicken which had a wonderfully sweet flavor. They had a basic kids menu complete with a few standard Chinese entrees and mozzarella sticks for picky eaters. The waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing. The prices were comparable to other places. We had been looking for a new Chinese restaurant to frequent and we've definitely found it at the Fortune Palace.
(5)Linda E.
Fortune Palace is the very best. Service is excellent and fast. The food is hot and fresh. The crab rangoon is especially wonderful--the best we have ever eaten. The lettuce wraps and fried dumplings are also exceptional. Lunch is priced at $6.95 M-Sat, and we have tried almost everything on the list. Specials are also very good to try something different. And the restaurant is very clean. We have taken several friends and family members to Fortune Palace, and it is now the favorite for each of them too. They also have fast service on take-out, which is always busy when we are eating there. Try Fortune Palace--it's right off 87th and Quivira in Lenexa, so it is simply to get to off I-35 and I-435.

Two of us ordered delivery on a sunday night, they said it would be 30 minutes and they were at my door in 30 minutes! We got crab ragoon which was crunchy and creamy, chicken fried rice it was good I prefer smaller pieces of chicken though, vegetable lo mein noodles were delicious, mixed vegetables in a yummy white sauce and perfectly cooked, sweet and sour chicken was really delicious, and the hot and sour soup was amazing! It came with white rice and sour sauce of course. Price was $45, but we have plenty for lunch and probably dinner tomorrow! All the food was hot temperature and all around a great meal. This is our new favorite chineese place for sure, already planning on when we are ordering it again!
(5)Nancy C.
Definitely a good Chinese restaurant. My husband and I both had Empress Chicken with Crab Rangoon as an appetizer, water to drink. We liked that the meat wasn't buried by a bunch of vegetables. A nice quantity of tasty battered white chicken in a nicely flavored sauce. And we were given a knife with our utensils and didn't have to ask for one! I think this is the only Chinese restaurant in the area that gives you a knife. Guess the others are afraid you'll hurt yourself, or they don't want to wash knives. ?? The food was high quality; great Crab Rangoon filled with lots of creamy filling. Service was excellent. The only thing we would have changed was a little more sauce on the Empress Chicken. We asked for a dish of sauce on the side and the server gladly brought it. Our meal was $25 + $5 for tip. We would go back.
(5)Maria P.
This place has some of the best Chinese food I've ever had! Every chinese restaurant I go to, I have to order the Schezwan Chicken. Most places either have too many vegetables, or the sauce just isn't right. At Fortune Palace, they have it perfect! The chicken is good, the sauce is amazing and spicy, and they meat to vegetable ratio is perfect. The service is great too. The waitress comes over all the time to make sure you're doing alright and the food comes out pretty quick. The only bad thing I could ever say about this place is that they love to top off your water when it's barely drank out of. It's kind of funny, but can get out of control.
(5)K. H.
Want some quick and good chinese food? Call these people. A diverse menu and I haven't ordered anything I havent enjoyed. Plus it never takes them more than 30 mins for them to deliver after I make the call. Some times they make it under 20mins.
(4)Laurel S.
I love this place and I am super picky about my Chinese consumption. I will not eat at most Chinese places because they often look pretty seedy or they have a buffet and that grosses me out. This place was a hidden gem! It is beautiful inside. The service was great. The food was delicious. I cannot think of a bad thing to say. The lunch special is $7 for soup, an egg roll or crab rangoon and your entree with either fried or white rice. Our party of four had 3 hot and sour soups and 1 egg drop soup, 2 crab rangoon and 2 egg rolls -- the crab rangoon was probably the better of the two, 2 of us had General Tso Chicken, husband had mongolian beef and daughter had chicken with garlic sauce. It was all amazing. I would highly recommend this place!
(5)Kari M.
Egg drop soup hot and tasty. Fairly sat delivery. Food is always hot and fresh. Beef and broccoli is very good. Tender meat. They will make egg foo yung that is delicious too.
(4)Chuck M.
Wow. I was blown away by the food, the decor, the service and especially the price. I kind of stumbled upon this impressive restaurant nestled into a strip mall and I am in love! It was nearly empty, so I was not sure what to expect. I am convinced that when more people find about about this treasure it will always be busy. The appetizer and the food were both fresh and steaming and really delicious. It is now my absolute favorite Chinese restaurant in the Metro.
(5)Kathy M.
The prices may seem a bit high, compared to the other Lenexa Chinese food place, but the quality of the dishes is worth it! We tried 3 main dishes, plus two appetizers, and all were delicious. The meat in the sesame chicken dish was large pieces of white meat, not the tiny pieces of chicken surrounded by too much batter. The spicy black pepper beef was delicious as well. We decided on carry out, but may dine in next time, as the restaurant had a quiet and nice atmosphere.
(5)David W.
Was in town on business and wanted some good Chinese food. Glad I stopped in! Food was fresh and tasted great. Hot and sour soup was dead-on Will be back for sure.
(5)treka a.
Traveled through and pulled into the parking on a Tuesday and the restaurant was empty. Was very scared but did not know where to go so took a gamble. We hit the Jack pot giddy was awesome! Only wish they were in my home town.
(5)Matt S.
I work right down the street and went looking for a buffet one day for lunch. I stopped in here not thinking I was on the hunt for a good Chinese restaurant but I found one anyway. This place is legit! Total gem of a place with great food. I had the General Tso's chicken lunch special, with spicy wanton soup and a crab Rangoon. All three were delicious. highly recommend.
(5)Lauren H.
Ordered the Singapore Style Rice Noodles with Shrimp and Crab Rangoon for delivery. Called at 6:08pm on a Friday night and it was here by 6:22pm! Incredible. The noodles were just perfect with the right amount of spice and very flavorful. Huge portion, too! Crab Rangoon were awesome. Definitely recommend!
(5)Jim M.
Me and wife went to dinner 12/29/2011 6:30pm plenty of seats available We were told we canont stay and eat because they were having a large party comming soon. We could order our food to go and eat in the car. This is soo wrong. Guess i will never be back.......
(1)Tim S.
It's been too long since I've been back, but i saw some props in the yelp email and realized I forgot to review it. These reviews are right on. Good people, good decor, and most importantly good food; fresh, carefully prepared food. The wok skill is amazing...the aromatically, smooth wok smoke hmmmm wok smoke. The owners have credibility in my book for having worked at Pine and Bamboo Garden and have put a lot of careful planning into this venture. If I had to think of one area of improvement, it would the the lack of a traditional/authentic menu. But my skepticism quickly left after my first bite. Our first visit, I thought I could con my 18 mo daughter with some veggie dumplings. To my surprise they were not stuffed with an unrecognizable mystery mince to be drenched in soy sauce, but rather chunks of real, fresh vegetables. My daughter immediately was leary, so I dug in. Shockingly my "meat and carb" girl loved them. All I can say is that I rarely experience American-Chinese dishes done this well.
(4)Richard H.
Some of the best Chinese food this side of San Francisco!
(5)Sherry G.
Love this place, it's always delicious & they even deliver! And the crab Rangoon is one of the best I've ever had.
(4)Gordon B.
In my opinion, this is one of the 2 best chinese restaurants in the KC area. The other is Fortune Star at 119th and Metcalf (especially the Sunday chinese buffet). The food at FP is always fresh and hot. They make their own dumplings and they are great!! They are cooked to order so they can take some time but if you tell them, they will bring out the other food when it is ready. If you want to wait though, they are so worth it. Also the salt and pepper squid appetizer is very good. Tonight we had the twice cooked pork and it was great. We talked to the owner and found out they make their own roast pork!! Excellent!! We also had green beans and eggplant. Be sure and ask about dishes that aren't on the menu. Many times they have different types of chinese vegtables that they can cook for you. The decor is very nice and the owner and staff are very helpfull. Please give them a try and I think you will enjoy it.
(4)Stephanie P.
If you're a sucka for some mood brewing (i.e ambiance), you'll find it here. This is one of the nicest Chinese restaurants I have been to. They really took a lot of time and money to make sure their restaurant stood out from the other buffet jokes. It is extremely large and comfortable and the bar is beautiful. The service was wonderful, in fact, some of the best I've had as well. The food was the best. Their hot and sour soup was wonderfully tangy and spicy it made my eyes water. The lunch specials were equally unbelievable. For $6.95 you get your choice of soup, egg roll or crab rangoon, entree, and white or brown rice. I had the Kung Pao chicken which was very delish. We will most certainly be back in the future. I also saw that they have some sort of Valentine's Day Dinner special that looks worth trying.
(5)Tony P.
Came in for lunch the other day based on the Yelp reviews and found one of my new favorite Chinese restaurants. I got the lunch special with an egg roll (best I've had in a long time), egg drop soup (awesome), and some amazing General Tso's chicken w/fried rice all for $6.99! We also ordered some crab rangoons, which were good but not great. I'm definitely looking forward to going back.
(5)Pete M.
Can't comment on the food as they hung up on us before we could place an order. I called and asked for delivery. "We don't deliver that far"...click...she didn't even ask if I'd like take out.
(1)Josh R.
Visited for the first time on 11/20/14. Was very impressed, the general tso's chicken was superb. The egg rolls down right excellent. Clean, reasonable, good service.
(4)C B.
WOW, with such great reviews I had to try this place. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but this is not Chinese food! Horrible Kung Pao with absolutely no flavor and no spice (and the menu says HOT)...and very watery sauce. I am extremely disappointed. Egg roll was greasy but good. Egg Drop soup was made up of weak broth with eggs, no vegetables at all, and stale fried wonton.
(1)Kasey K.
First time here. Ordered chicken lo mein and sweet sour chicken. It was ready for pick up when we got there. We did not find the portion sizes to be larger than normal as some others stated. We did think the food was pretty good - better than most other Chinese places we've tried in the area.
(4)Marie S.
My husband and I frequent this establishment for carryout. We've had many places in the past, but have stuck true to this one. Every time we order either over the phone, or place our order there, it's always exactly correct. We can always guarantee that the food will taste as good as the time before. Their Rangoon is to die for. It's by far my favorite from anywhere else that I've been. We always order their combination lo mein. My husband is not a fan of veggies in it, and they are always kind enough to leave them out. I love the lo mein, but I like a little more kick and flavor to my noodles. So they are always very accommodating when I ask for a side of the sesame seed chicken sauce. I poor a bit over my half of the noodles and I'm in heaven. I really like this place, and recommend it to anyone who asks about good Chinese food. It's worth a visit. Promise you'll want to come back.
(5)Diana T.
Couldn't get into another restaurant and decided to try this place. We had eggrolls, lo mein and king pao chicken for around $21. Nice design, great service and food presentation. Would definitely go back and try more items including some of their specialties. Our friends tried the family special for $15 @ and had soup, an appetizer platter and their choice of entrees. So much food and so delicious.
(5)Jerry S.
Hot and sour soup deliciously good. Almond chicken too much zucuni. Ordered take out, told time but had to wait. Hard to believe at lunch, they ran out of the soup.
(4)Amber T.
This place is right across the street from my apartment, so my boyfriend and I eat there frequently. It's American style Chinese, but probably the freshest, best tasting American style Chinese food you can hope for. The folks that run this place are extremely friendly, the orders are always ready promptly, and you can actually dine in if you like. I almost always order the Cantonese Noodles with Beef (they give you lots of yummy bok choy!), but everything I've had there has been pretty tasty.
(5)RJ W.
We have a couple picky eaters in our household. Everyone finds something they enjoy here. We usually come late Saturday afternoon. It's not very busy and we are in and out. We love the atmosphere and the whole family enjoys the moo shoo chicken and pork. This is a good restaurant with a nice atmosphere. You get a lot of food for your money so plan on a take home box.
(4)Tom F.
Ordered take out from here 3 times now, so good! I usually get sesame chicken, meat is all white and very tasty. I had to stop eating Chinese food, cause it always would turn me into a slug. But this place only very slightly makes me feel that way. Oh, and they are the fastest delivery ever. The first time we ordered I swear the food was at or door 4 minutes after ordering. Really good - I give this 5 stars and I'm a tough grader.
(5)Michael C.
Just ordered delivery. Took only 23 minutes to arrive. The Pork Fried Rice was amazing as was the General Tso's Chicken. The Pork Egg Rolls were the best I've had locally as we're the Crab Rangoons. The Egg Drop Soup was flavorful and was piping hot on arrival. After searching around we've finally found our spot.
(5)Leslie R.
Great Chinese... Had lunch here last week and came back for dinner today! Sizzling Rice soup was delicious and enough for 3.. Great wait staff too!
(4)Shane S.
My wife and I ate here Saturday night and were both very impressed. The food was delicious--possibly the best Chinese food I've ever had. We arrived around 7 PM and the place was mostly dead. There were maybe 5 groups of people dining. We had an order of crab rangoon ($5.95 for 6 pieces) and split an order of sesame chicken ($8.95). The crab Rangoon were amazing. They were light and crispy, and the filling was perfect (not overly sweet). The sesame chicken was just as good. Each piece was crispy and break-apart tender. The sauce had the right balance of flavor without being overpowering. It came with a side of steamed rice and was just the right amount to split. The service was great too. We can't wait to go back.
(5)Mr. T.
I've had lunch specials a couple of times, and although Yelp doesn't often steer me wrong, I wasn't as overwhelmingly impressed with the food as the other ratings led me to believe I'd be. The entrees I've tried (Mongolian Beef and Moo Goo Gai Pan) were decent, the fried rice above average, and the crab rangoon was great, but the hot and sour soup, on each occasion, was so overloaded with white pepper it was practically inedible--this coming from someone who really, really likes pepper. The service is adequate, and prices are fair, but if I didn't work nearby, I don't think I'd make a special trip to go here. I'm glad it exists, and due to its proximity I eat there about twice a month, but there's definitely better Chinese food to be had at the same price point elsewhere in the KC metro.
(3)Chris W.
This was the best Chinese food I have experienced. I had the sweet & sour chicken, shrimp rice noodle and crab rangoon.
(5)Nathan B.
The best general tso's chicken I have ever had. Not kidding. ALL white meat chicken, great glaze, crispy, and tons of garlic and ginger flavor (a huge plus). The fried rice was tasty, the hot and sour soup was so good, tasted a nice kick of pepper and soy flavor in it. The soup came with crispy noodles (aka "crunchies") which were very good. The crab Rangoon was OFF THE HOOK AMAZING! crispy outside and big flavor inside! I got a diet coke with fried rice, soup, crab Rangoon, and general tso's for $9.65. Without drink it's $6.95. Definitely a great price for great portions. Very filling! I will be back!
(5)Kelly F.
Great place. First visit and now officially my favorite Chinese in KC. Everything was fresh and perfect and service was top notch.

Please think twice about ordering Chinese food from Fortune Palace in Lenexa (12102 W 87th St Pkwy, Lenexa, KS 66215, fortunepalacekc.com ). My husband and I ordered two lunch specials from Fortune Palace before he went to work this afternoon. Upon finishing my food (I ate it out of the container it was packaged in), I discovered a metal staple under the sweet and sour sauce in the bottom of the container. I immediately felt very ill. When I called Fortune Palace to explain what had just happened, the gentleman who answered the phone responded with, "oh." Nothing else. I thoroughly explained the situation again, and it was clear he was in no way interested in what I had to say. It was only when I mentioned contacting the Health Department, posting on Facebook and Yelp, that he decided to offer to exchange my food or offer a credit. I explained to him that I was really bothered by his lack of care or concern for the dangerous situation his restaurant has created. In the end, I was given a refund - which I appreciate and accepted (WHY would I want more food from them?!) - but it is not enough. I understand that there is only so much that can be done in this type of situation, but care, kindness, and a little human compassion - not to mention a real apology - would have gone a long way. Sometimes bad things happen, but how those bad things are dealt with proves the character or the party in the wrong. Fortune Palace has made it very clear that they are not interested in customer safety or the safe handling of food. I am livid that I found a sharp metal staple in my food that could have caused serious harm to me, and I am terrified that I have could have eaten or possibly did eat a staple without realizing it.

Pretty good Chinese food. I go there pretty often for lunch. My staple there is Tofu in Black Bean sauce (not a part of the lunch menu). I love their Chinese mustard - it adds a real twist to the flavor. Service is great and of course you get fortune cookies.

I just had to update my review to say "Try this place!" It is a standard American-Chinese restaurant that serves very good food. They make it better than anyone I can think of. The decor is outstanding, and they have a full bar. The owner has been present, I believe, every time I've been in.

What a great place to eat! And the service is always perfect. Our water glasses never get half empty. The food is served quickly. The taste is always just right! We normally order the potstickers, lo mein and Honey Nut Chicken. We did again this time and we were not disappointed. The taste still lingers after a day. We revisit this place every time we are in town and want an Asian treat!

Definitely a hidden gem and not at all what you'd expect from their date, strip mall location. Most of me wants people to know how fantastic it is so it'll stay in business for many years to come but I'll admit that there's a little part of me that wants to keep it and it's cozy atmosphere all to myself. Food: AMAZING fried rice. I'm a huge fan of fried rice so I have some high expectations and theirs absolutely lived up to it. Crab rangoon was delicious, the seasoning on our chicken and beef dishes were outstanding and everything was served piping hot. I don't have a single bad thing to say about their food-- the best I've had since moving to Kansas. Service: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful without being too intrusive. There weren't a ton of people there when my boyfriend and I went but our waitress came by often to refill drinks and make sure we didn't need anything else and (who I'm 90% sure was) the owner came by once or twice to make sure we were happy as well. Atmosphere: The only word I can think of to describe the overall atmosphere/decor is pleasant. It was spacious without seeming too big, lighting was bright enough to see but not so bright that you couldn't have a romantic date there and the whole place was very clean. Overall: Definitely try this if you're looking for great Chinese food in a pleasant atmosphere.

I once wrote a review for this restaurant being the best kept secret in Lenexa. No matter when we went here there were many open tables. Not anymore I'm happy to report. The secret is out!! I was worried this little Gem wouldnt make it but the last time I went here the place was packed! The food is awsome for Dinner and lunch as well. Lunch plates are priced very reasonably and cooked to your specifiations. Service is great and if you like your food hot and spicey as I do, having a full water glass is a plus. No disapointments there. Make this Restaurant your regular stop with friends and family. You wont regret it.

The place is beautiful inside and they have some of the friendliest staff. To be impartial it was not crowded inside when we went so we were the focus of the staff at the time. We even got to meet the co-owner and he comes from a long line of restauranteurs, and shared with us some of the ways his food is prepared differently. For example there is no dark meat in the General Tso's chicken which is why it tasted so good, and was crispy and not soggy at all. The Crab-Rangoon was also awesome. it was full of cream cheese and crab and it tasted awesome, it was provided with a pineapple bases sauce and mustard sauce. Overall I would highly recommend trying this place for high quality Chinese food.

This is by far the BEST chinese food I have had in my 13 years in Kansas City. Having grown up in Northern California with a large and diverse selection of Chinese cuisine I was quite impressed with the quality and selection. I have been searching for pan fried noodles since arriving in the midwest and I have found them. If you like good quality chinese food this place is a must...
