One word...amazing. I haven't had an experience like this in a while. I was taken by surprise and here are the things i can say went very well: 1. Used $20 coupon, no issues using it (that NEVER happens with coupons) 2. Server was attentive and we got refills regularly 3. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and answered our questions 4. GM came to our table and asked us how everything was 5. The food was excellent (I got the tavern beef stroganoff, and it was hearty and the portions were great) Overall a great experience. I will definitely go back. It was refreshing to have a great meal in a great place.

Waiter was condescending and smelled of cigarette smoke. Soup of the day (chicken noodle) was bland. Burger was tasty. Stroganoff was very good and came with delicious grilled asparugus. Hummus (checkin special) was creamy and flavorful, but the celery looked a liitle wilted and sad. I would hesitate to recommend this place to anyone who isnt dressed up like Leawood. They are very judgemental of their casual diners and assume you are too unrefined to fully grasp simple items on the menu. Insulting.

This was a perfect brunch/lunch spot with a lovely patio. The waitstaff was able to work within our multiple food allergies parameters with a great, helpful attitude. The food was delicious and satisfying for our 16 yr old son, as well as the adults in our party. Would absolutely go again when in KC.

Long wait on a Thursday at 6:30--over an hour. They finally got us a table (for 4) and waitstaff was overworked and we waited again for drinks and food. Used a yelp check in to get a complimentary hummus-yummy and ordered our food. Really liked the fish tacos, fish could have been a little firmer though. Tried a friends curry tomato soup, I didn't care for it, but she seemed to like it. Salads looked good as well as the Cuban sandwich. Would return, maybe with making reservations ahead of time.

Great place for happy hour! Fantastic and friendly staff! We only ordered hummus and it was great. Will definitely be back for dinner!

We started with reservations for eight. It was my homegirl's birthday and she invited a few extras so our party grew to 10. I called early in the day to update our headcount. My wife and I arrived about 15 minutes early and planned to have a pre-game cocktail at the bar. One of the hosts came and spoke with my wife confirming our headcount and letting us know for the second (or third) time that our table was still occupied and they were waiting for them to pay. At this point our reservation time had come and gone. Why include this? Read on... "And you're sure you'll have ten?" "Yes. Actually we have nine plus a baby." "Okay great. We'll have your table soon. You know your reservation was for eight but you changed the number so..." WTF?! NOT good customer service. Let's make the "guest" feel as though they've inconvenienced the establishment with some passive aggressive fuckery. I'm thankful that she was not speaking directly to me as that may have been the end of our night. Alright. Enough of the bad part. On to the good!! Our service was provided by John. He skillfully presented us with the specials of the evening and answered all of the many questions from our table. John was attentive while never appearing rushed or put out. He was friendly and upbeat our entire meal. Even when my homegirl had the audacity to ask for A1. (She don't get out much) Our dinner was served with a quickness I was not expecting on a busy Friday night. And it was FIRE! I had the ribeye and my wife had the pork osso bucco. My steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned expertly. The hash that accompanied my meat candy was a nice surprise. I killed it! The creamed spinach was good too but if I could nitpick it didn't stand up to the rest of the favors on my plate. I should mention that we were presented with hummus and calamari as soon as we were seated to make up for our table not being ready. It was nice of the house to hook up our hungry table for being patient. The food was excellent as was the service. If you have a chance to dine here be sure to ask for John's section. If he could take such good care of our rowdy bunch I'm sure he'll take good care of you too! We'll be back!

I had the calamari, a wedge, and the Cajun ribeye. The food was great, the service was fantastic, and the employees were polite and seemed genuinely happy to be at work. Keep up the fantastic work, Management Team! Tavern rocks!

Another great meal in Kansas! I'm embarrassed to admit I do not remember our server's name, but she was such a sweetheart and so full of joy - the kind of person who makes everyone in her presence happy. She was so attentive, knew the menu very well and made our good dining experience even better. Forgoing appetizers, I went straight to the Asian Tuna Salad. It was a chopped salad that included sweet diced mangoes, which paired nicely with the rare tuna and vegetables in the salad. Seeing edamame in a salad makes my choice a no-brainer, and avocado is the icing on the cake. The avocado was not cut into tiny little cubes that disappear once mixed in, but nicely sized, hearty slices. The sesame citrus vinaigrette was not overpowering at all, nor was the salad drowned in it. In fact, it complemented the rest of the ingredients so well, I almost forgot it was there. I know a lot of places offer salads like this, but really, the Tavern's is a step above the others. We brought a party of 10 without a reservation and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. This is a place I'll definitely return to on future trips to the area. Not only was the food great, but the service was top-notch.

Service is fantastic! I went with 4 friends for happy hour to celebrate a 50th bday and just to catch up. I am bummed I forgot to take pics of the appetizers! We had chicken nachos - mini tostada style - very good, would get again, cheeseburger sliders on toasted buns come with crispy fried onions and diced pickles - would get again, fajita sliders on toasted buns - seemed light on the meat and not a lot of flavor - would pass on these, bruschetta - pesto and mozzarella with balsamic - if you are not a meat person these are a good choice, calamari and fried banana rings - a little too chewy for me - would pass on these. We cut each serving in half to share for the table since only 3-4 come with each and even a half portion of each was good with our drinks. Drink specials were a good deal and nice selection. Our server brought an ENORMOUS chunk of chocolate cake - it was good but I am not really a dessert person. The 5 of us all had a nice size and my friend still had a lot to take home! Closed out with a coffee - sounds simple but it was delicious!

Great place for brunch with a small group. Loved their creme brulee french toast and farmer's benedict. Their salads come in so sparse an amount.. very pathetic. Their hummus dish was nice, but the pita was a turn-off.

The food here is fresh and flavorful. I recently was able to grab a late Saturday lunch at Tavern At Mission Farms. It was pretty quiet when we went, so that was nice. The décor is pleasant and the fireplaces looked very cool (though they weren't lit). We had the crab cakes to start and they were delicious. Be warned that they are quite small though and you only get two of them. It was worth it for us, but I know others may be disappointed by this. I had the turkey croissant sandwich which was delicious and my husband had the burger. I had a Melon Monk to drink. It was very cucumber-y and melon-y and would be a good summer outdoor cocktail. Overall we had a great time though the service was somewhat somber and slow (it seemed like he was having a bad day though, so I wasn't offended by this). I'd definitely grab lunch here again.

This is a good solid place. The food was good. The service was on point. The ambiance was nice as well with it's high ceilings, fireplaces, wine cellars, etc. Three out of four of us approved of our meals, and one said meh. Seems like it might be a good place for brunch as the space is huge, and I bet the wait is much shorter than other places. Added bonus, we used a yelp check in to get a free appetizer--nice!

Have been here twice so far. The menu is unique, offering a great variety! (The drink menu is great too - try the lavender lemon drop!) The mussels are delicious, as well as the hummus, calamari and brie. The pan seared sea scallops are delicious as a main. Tonight I had the special of sockeye salmon, which was a bit dry and overcooked, but still tasty. The lemon pound cake sundae is a must, and so are the donuts. Service has always been phenomenal! Definitely a great place for date night!

Went for Restaurant Week and was super impressed all around. However, when I looked at the RW offerings online the night before, the way it was laid out made it look like there was a dessert included. Turns out there wasn't, but our waiter (really nice guy, btw. Just an excellent server all around) said that the chef would be happy to make that dessert for us. We were very appreciative, but ended up being so full at the end of our meal that we declined the offer. The meal was absolutely divine. My friend had the tilapia with risotto. Risotto can often be undercooked or overcooked, but this was perfect. I ordered the burger, and it was one of the best I've ever had- so fresh and flavorful- I could tell the patty was hand formed. It was served with lots of toppings and condiments on the side and even bacon- such a nice treat. It was served with fries, and they were outstanding. Perfectly salted and crispy. They rival Joe's Kansas City for best fries in KC. Our first course was salad, one Caesar and one wedge, and they were both divine. The wedge came with bleu cheese dressing, which they were more than happy to swap out for ranch to accommodate my preference. The lettuce was cold and crisp and had these amazing thin onion straws on top- so yummy! The atmosphere at Tavern is lovely and cozy and even though it was full of customers, it wasn't loud and didn't feel crowded. 2 different managers came by to check on us, and our water glasses were always refilled promptly. We left feeling very full and very well taken care of. Will definitely be back. *edited for spelling

We've been here 5 times and have had a great experience every time. Their drink selection is fantastic and the food is always fresh and delicious. We usually start out with the hummus plate (which is free through Yelp!). It is an assortment of veggies and pita served with some very good hummus that is topped with feta, tomatoes and kalamata olives. As far as main courses go, I'm partial to the tacos but I always steal a bite of whatever my wife gets and it's always great (the trout is especially good...and very rich). Bacon cream Brussels sprouts are another favorite. The service is always very good as well. I actually have nothing bad to say about this place. One of our favorites.

This is one of my favorite local restaurants. The staff is incredible - warm, attentive, and super efficient. The decor offers a more city vibe reminiscent of many restaurants in my native Chicago. And the food is absolutely amazing. The beef stroganoff packs tender meat and flavorful sauce atop perfectly cooked noodles. The chicken pot pie was incredible as were the shrimp tacos, ahi tuna tacos, and just about everything on their menu.

I've been to the Tavern in Prairie Village before and I didn't love it but I met some ladies for lunch here and I thought it was really good. I had a burger and fries. The service was awesom. The burger was tasty. Fries were hot and yummy. Really nothing to complain about. I may come back and try dinner...

We had a reservation at 5:30 for a group of 8 plus a baby. We actually had 4 generations of our family in town and this provided a great, nice and quiet ambience to have dinner. The menu has a variety of choices from soups and salads (incl kale) to filet mignon and sandwiches. So everyone can get what they want at fairly reasonable prices. We ordered the pot pie, kale salad, scallop salad, sole catch of the day, trout and chicken Parmesan. I would say that most people were pleased with their meals (nobody was blown away, but that's not what we were looking for). However, there was one major flaw to the meals of two people that ordered the scallop salad: the scallops were over cooked and so incredibly salty that both persons didn't finish the scallops. It's a shame since that was the highlight of their meals. All in all, good cozy place for a group of people looking for something good, not great, to have a nice dinner.

We picked this place for a Saturday night date night and we really enjoyed it!! We're in our 40s, love to travel, try new foods, and always enjoy a unique, trendy atmosphere. And good drinks! :) If you appreciate the same, you'll like this place. Open concept, modern restaurant with tables, booths and banquettes. I would make reservations for weekend nights just to be sure. There were folks in their 20s and all the way to in their 70s and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Not a quiet and romantic place but more fun urban for sure. My Osso Bucco and my husband's steak were top notch, but our mussels weren't the best. Still, I would definitely be back! Food, drinks and service were solid. Good job, guys!

Kudos to the Chef! This restaurant is EVERYTHING! And best of all...they have a GF menu. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. And possibly marry the Chef if I wasn't already married so I could have a well prepared meal morning, noon and night. I've had the Grilled Salmon and Kale Salad, the Grilled Sea Scallop Salad and the Prince Edward Island Mussels and all were created perfectly. And service was exceptional too which always makes for an even better experience (kudos to Kelly). Perfect patio area for large groups. So final words! Eat and drink at the Tavern at Mission Farms! You won't regret it...

Very good food. We started with the Ahi tuna tacos. Yum. My wife had the chicken Parm and it was very good. I had the best street tacos and they were phenomenal. Wasn't too pricey either. I will go back for sure. A+

Very average and overpriced because of the area. Snooty staff no surprise! Had salmon and asparagus. Jumbo 4 sticks of asparagus! Big asparagus is not good eats its tough salmon small portion and dry come on Tavern clean up your act!

Great food- beef stroganoff was delicious as was the tuna salad. Wait staff was a little disorganized for our waiter who left us sitting there, but his coworker took over expertly when she saw we were not getting great service. Would go back.

My good friend and I went out for a late dinner here a couple weeks ago (late writing this review!) and were warmly welcomed into the dining room. Our server was very polite, friendly, and attentive. We started out with drinks recommended by the manager, Kristy, who also warmly welcomed us. I got the jalapeño margarita, and was pleasantly surprised and the subtle kick it had to it. The . For apps I got the Artichoke & Risotto Croquettes, which were so good I could have made a meal out of them. My friend got the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and she said they were the best she has had; the crab was good and big pieces, and not just filler. For dinner I had the Steakhouse Wedge Salad with a Filet, and a cup of the Tomato and Fresh Herb topped with Goat Cheese soup. The soup was seriously to die for. The salad was good, but it is a salad. The filet on the other hand, was cooked to perfection. The ambience of Tavern at Mission Farms was nice for a late dinner.. It would make a nice date night, or to go out for a special occasion.

Yum! We had our national meeting for work in that area and scheduled a dinner there for the whole group. We had a party of 12-15. The food was wonderful. We were running late especially since many of our team were flying in that day. We started with four appetizers, bruschetta, which had a great flavor but the bread was a bit thick and hard, Hummus, which is always good and easy to share, calamari, which was delicious, and the chicken skewers. The caprese was on special that night and the majority of the table got it for the salad course. Everyone enjoyed themselves and their entres. Specifically the mac and cheese was memorable as well as my osso bucco . It is a great space with delicious food. We had a great time.

5 stars all around. Hummus amazing!! I'm extremely sad I no longer have KC. Please branch out to Minneapolis and St. Louis. My first time here was during restaurant week. I had the filet. But the hummus is what brought me back. This last time I ordered the bbq shrimp appetizer the Mac and cheese (needed pepper). But the Brussel sprouts?? And the hummus Yum. Try this place.

Really spendy for a not so great dining experience. Foodie menu from a decade ago, but they sure updated the prices! WTF is Pork Osso Bucco? This is really a great example of the ways that these foodie type restaurants chisel on the food by inventing some BS recipe that doesn't /shouldn't exist. How about Fish Osso Bucco? Turkey Osso Bucco? The chef and owner should be ashamed of putting out horrible stuff like this. When served with wine at warm temperatures, there should be no reason to come back. And no reason for anyone to go if they haven't yet. Let the buyer beware.

I went there at an odd time. You know, way after lunch and too soon for dinner. It's just you and the servers. Service was great, food was good. Nothing to call mom about but it did what it was supposed to do... put me in a food coma.

*BRUNCH ONLY REVIEW* I was sad to miss the brunch event earlier this year, but promised myself I would make it out there next time I was in the area. A friend and I met here before heading over out to do some shopping. Brunch was pretty solid - I had the Denver omelet, delicious - came with breakfast potatoes (I'm a SUCKER for any kind of potatoes) these were fantastic! My friend is gluten free but a lover of french toast. She asked and they delivered, mixed berry filled GLUTEN FREE french toast - not that is impressive when asked on a whim. Service was attentive and friendly as well. I'll be back when I'm in the Mission Farms area!

I had an impromptu dinner with my family at the Tavern in the Village a couple of weeks ago and was not impressed at all. The taste was just off-- I could not put my finger on it (lemon-pepper?). The mystery made it even more unappetizing... It was across the board on all 3 entrees I sampled. Most of my ratings are based on the food, and equally important, the service. The waiter service was fine both in both locations, not out of the ball park, but absolutely nothing to complain about, either. But today's review is all about the Brunch.. Now serving on Saturdays too!! Although I was a bit hesitant to try The Tavern again, but I always like to give my bad reviews a second chance before I make my final decision to cross them off my list and open my mouth full of opinions. I was pleasantly surprised with the brunch options (a nice blend of traditional and unique menu options) accompanied with the Tavern's own blend of Roasterie Coffee (local supporting local--- A+ in my book), fresh squeezed orange juice and morning appropriate libations. I got a Denver omelette, potatoes and a biscuit. The plate as a whole was good... Omelette cooked properly with the perfect Omelette-to-cheese ratio, but the star of the plate was the fluffy, yummy biscuits. I would definitely be willing come back... I hear the kale salad is a must try at the Tavern in Mission Farms Side note: The General Manager, Jason Connor, was very professional and welcoming to the guests. This never goes unnoticed at any restaurant! : )

We had breakfast here for the first time with some other Yelpers for a great Yelp Elite Event and I gotta say, they're going to go straight to the top of the breakfast rotation in our household. The hubby had the Crab Cake Benedict which was served with two crab cakes that were really crabby! Sometimes crab cakes seem processed or full of fillers, but these were really good. I had the stuffed french toast and it was so sinful with smooth creamy sweet cream cheese filling flavored with blueberries. The only thing that would have made it even better would have been if there were fresh blueberries on the side. We were greeted immediately upon our arrival and service was prompt, friendly and efficient. The interior of the restaurant has some nice details, but in many ways is very JoCo, which can be taken however you like. We really appreciated the great eats and service and we're looking forward to coming back to try more breakfast items. The one thing I'd suggest would be to consider lowering the price on the Mimosas and Bloody Marys. The prices I saw were just a tad bit steep for breakfast and I would assume they could still make a tidy profit plus increase their sales volume if they knocked the drink prices down a bit.

4 of us met for dinner on a Friday evening. We had a reservation and wanted outside seating on this, one of the first semi-warm evenings of the season. The staff was very accommodating, and got us seated right on time, even though they were pretty busy and actually full outside when we got there. When our waiter showed up, about 30 seconds after my wife and I were seated, it became very obvious, very quickly that we were in for some pretty fantastic service, regardless of whatever else happen tonight. This guy, (call him the pen man, and I am sure everyone in the restaurant will know who you mean), must really love his job, or at least understand that his compensation is related to the service he provides. Throughout the evening he was always there when we wanted anything, but was never intrusive. He was knowledgable about drinks, beers, and the whole menu, and made a number of great recommendations throughout. Add to that the fact that he was funny, good with kids, (the couple next to us had a darling little girl that he wisely got food to far faster than most adults would want), and interesting to talk to and you end up with a pretty great server. He was great, but then the food started coming. I started with their wedge salad. Normally, I don't get real excited about a salad, but this one was exceptional. Just enough variety in toppings to make it interesting and a very good blue cheese dressing. My wife had the Ceaser, and it was also very good. For main courses we had Asian chicken, pasta with scallops, and fillet. Everybody tasted everything and the only thing any of us could say about any of the food was "Wow, that's really outstanding". Perfectly seasoned, perfectly prepared, served hot. It can't get any better than that.

Went in for lunch and I believe that the Leawood demographic will find the Tavern to be a 3.5 to 4 Start lunch option. We started with Bruschetta, it was tasty. It was kind of odd that it was served warm with melted mozzarella so it is more flatbread-ish than bruschetta. I had the Ahi Salad. The Ahi was fresh and served rare. Some might find the portion fairly small but the Mission Farms lunch crowd should find it acceptable. My colleague had a cheeseburger and he was very happy with it. He said the bacon was juicy and that the burger had high quality beef served medium as he requested. The place was packed wall to wall for lunch. The demand for good spots at Mission Farms is high, IF the restaurant can deliver well prepared food with good service. Mission Farms is known for churning through restaurants but the failed ones had some serious problems with food, service or both. If The Tavern can maintain their quality of food and service, I believe they can thrive at Mission Farms...

We had a great evening here tonight. We went for a lighter meal and shared two appetizers. We had the crab cakes. They were made of nice sized chunks of crab and were seasoned well. They were on the smaller end and there are two to a plate. Then we had the risotto and artichoke heart balls. They were delicious and hearty. I had a Caesar salad. Good, but I have to say the croutons were delicious! Also, the pretzel bread was a nice touch. My friend had the tomato soup. He thought it was good. The service was excellent. We did not have to wait, but we did not feel rushed either. Great experience!

I enjoyed a very nice brunch at Tavern at Mission Farms with my brothers-in-law, husband and our two toddlers. It was a cold Sunday morning after an ice storm, but the parking lot had been cleared well, and we had no trouble getting in from the car. The rest of our party had arrived before we did, so they were already seated with highchairs waiting for our twins. I was pleased to find that both seats had working safety belts (you'd be surprised at how often the safety restraints on restaurant highchairs are cracked, missing, or otherwise unsafe). I was also pleasantly surprised by the offering of children's activities. Not only did the restaurant provide a children's menu and crayons, but they also provided a delightful package of wax strips for bending into shapes. What is more (and as a parent THIS was the most exciting part of the package) those crayons with which my children were merrily scribbling on their menus: they were triangular rather than round! This meant that I could enjoy pleasant conversation across the table instead of spending half of the meal with my head under the table looking for dropped crayons that had rolled off! Brilliant! The food was good. My coffee, a Roasterie blend, was refilled several times, and was hot and flavorful. My pancakes were thick and fluffy. My husband ordered the stuffed French toast, on the recommendation of our server, but his experience was less enthusiastic than the review of our waiter. The cream cheese and fruit compote filling was cold and gave the feeling of eating French toast that had been filled with blueberry yogurt. If this idea sounds questionable to you, then you are experiencing the exact same response of my spouse.

We met some friends for dinner at the Tavern on Saturday night. They were so busy that our reservation time came and went. But not to worry, in the best personal service that I've received in quite a while they brought us four complementary drinks and within 10 minutes walked us to our table where a complementary appetiser waited! We tried the special which was mahi mahi, with risotto and asparagus. One word, delicious!!! Our friends ordered the pork porterhouse which was also fantastic. Dave, was a great server who we'll ask for again. Yes, we'll be back!

I've been to the Tavern in Mission Farms a few times since it opened. I like the atmosphere a lot and the noise level is very low which is why I chose it for this particular occasion over the other restaurants in Mission Farms. My party of four each ordered something different and we all ate our meals. The food is fine - the Asian Tuna Salad is excellent. Our server was excellent. I just can't say the food "wows" me. I would go back for cocktails and appetizers or to sit outside for lunch.

Epic dining experience! Saturday brunch with fresh squeezed orange juice is a decadent way to start the weeked. Husband had the Denver Omelet and found it full of toppings and served with roasted potatoes that were both crispy outside and fluffy inside. Well played! I tried the Blueberry Stuffed French Toast and it was luxury on a breakfast plate. The filling was whipped and fluffy with a chessecakey finish but make no mistake you get the full flavor of blueberries. The toast itself- a huge slab- was battered in a creme brulee inspired egg wash and I was only slightly sorry that the syrup remained untouched. But seriously, adding syrup to something already so sweet would have been a crime. Oh! And don't get me started on how delicious my bacon was! Wow!! Try the beignets! Light, fluffy, crispy and served hot with a little side of creme anglaise. The stuff of poetry. And beautifully presented too! Upscale casual dining at its finest with a truly attentive waitstaff. Very pleasant morning, can't wait to come back. I will need to be careful with my budget though, a place like this is a worthy splurge.

My mom and I wanted to find a new restaurant with a creative and fresh menu so we tried Tavern at Mission Farms. It was better than I even hoped. The waitress was fast and friendly. The food was fresh and hot. Plus the prices were reasonable. We arrived 10 minutes before the end of happy hour and our waitress rushed over to tell us the deals so we didn't miss out. $5 wine, count me in!! I can't wait to go back!

Not a good experience. Service was terrible. I had to ask the waitress if she was going to wait on us. The mussels had too much lemon in the sauce and it was not even close to a full order. When they brought our dinners out, my $29.00 steak was Luke warm. Sat for 10 minutes before I got it back. The girls had fish. Everybody had the same comment about the food. They overpower everything for no reason. They ruined good food. Four people cost $207.00 to get out of there. High priced and average food. We won't ever go back.

Fantastic. Food is authentic and atmosphere was great. Had a minor snafu where our table was given away to someone that came in after us, but they more than made up for it. Will definitely go back!!

My husband and I have been here on several occasions, but this time we went with a group of six. We had a great time! I have been trying a gluten free diet and items were clearly marked on the menu. I enjoyed the filet. Ordered med rare, it came out perfectly cooked. It was so tender, the knife passed through the steak like it was butter. My companions all enjoyed their meals. We also discussed that the value - food quality and portion size - is excellent. We're glad they don't charge more, but they certainly could. Our service was excellent and our server was quite personable. She learned that we were celebrating a birthday and bought us a chocolate cake big enough to serve an army. Will I go back? Absolutely.

Very popular place for the 35+ Leawood crowd. Lovely bar and dining room. I think the food is very average. But I like the bar area so I go there a couple of times a month for a drink. A friendly crowd. But go somewhere else if you want a really good meal.

You never know what kind if crowd you'll find for a Saturday lunch, but we were pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant quite busy. I love the Tavern; great atmosphere, a fabulous menu and consistently friendly service. I had the spicy grilled chicken salad, which was fabulous. The homemade dressing really made it more than your average grilled chicken salad. My friend took the server's suggestion and had the Cuban sandwich. It was a big hit too and was served with a side of steamed spinach (subbed for fries) which was equally satisfying. I have now been here for lunch, happy hour and dinner and have never been disappointed. It serves as a great halfway meeting place for me (A Brooksider) and my Overland Park friends!

We were looking for casual and good food and found it. Great service. Quality food and in a reasonable amount of time. We didn't get to utilize the outdoor patio but it looked like a great place to enjoy both food and drink.

This is my favorite neighborhood bar and restaurant. The managers, wait staff and bartenders all greet me by name and are genuinely friendly. Great food and service. Crab cakes are best appetizer. The salmon and roast chicken are my go-to entrees and the Cuban sandwich is great for lunch or late night. Been coming here since The Tavern opened two years ago and so my review is based on dozens of experiences. Highly recommended. Five Stars!

Quiet place in Mission Farms. Great service and delicious cocktails. Try to ginger cucumber refresher to transport to a warm summer day (esp when it snows in KC in March) or the Bloody Mary (extra spicy with the muddled jalapeños please!). Got the chicken sausage gumbo which was delicious as well as the mussels. My friend got the crab cakes and side salad and loved them! Although a little pricy, this place has potential to be one of my favorite go to lunch spots!!

A great place for brunch! The brunch buffet is amazing! So much variety and oh so delicious! They have everything from bacon and eggs to pancakes to salmon and shrimp to chicken tempura to cookies and more. The only downside: it's a bit expensive. If you plan on going, go hungry and make sure you get your money's worth. The service is great. We were seated and served quickly and our drinks were brought minutes of ordering. The waiting staff are very professional and friendly. Worthy of a decent tip.

I'm not one to write reviews, but this restaurant really impressed me. Our food was delicious and the service was the best we have experienced in years.

One of my go to places for dinner. Happy hour has some great appetizers and drink prices - you can't go wrong. Plus side is the huge patio if the weather is nice - perfect setting for dinner/drinks!

Very close to 5 stars but I save that for only the most special restaurants. Had the Santa Fe chicken salad and hummus plate. Both were outstanding. Hummus had great flavor, plenty of pita bread and good assortment of veggies. Salad had good amount of dressing and the chicken was much more flavorful than your typical chicken on a salad. Had a good seasoning on it that would have made the chicken breast good on its own. Overall a very positive meal with good food and good service.

Just wasn't that impressed. Ordered the Cajun ribeye. It was not cooked to my order (over cooked) and the sides of creamed spinach & andouille potatoes were just kind of "meh". The good thing I can say is that the management was far superior to that at most restaurants. Clearly dedicated to creating a great experience for the customer. I would give it another shot for sure.

Had lunch here with a group of 8 ladies and it was great from beginning to end. Table was ready the moment we walked in the door, our server was attentive, friendly and worked with several food allergies and substitutions. The place is spacious enough that your table feels like a private area and the decor is chic and comfortable without trying too hard. The food was very good (happy plates all around the table and I had the scallop salad) but the most memorable is the peach cobbler/gooey cake. It is stunningly, do a happy dance in your chair good! This is a place for all reasons, seasons and occasions. I highly recommend it.

I really mean to give this place 1.5 stars, but I had to round up. The service was not bad - we constantly got refills on our iced water. The food was edible, but uninspired and poorly executed. My boyfriend and I got the saucisse Madame for brunch. We asked for medium eggs, but they came with chalky yolks instead of fudgy ones. And they hadn't even been seasoned. I was looking forward to good breakfast potatoes, but I can make better ones at home and the same went for the sausage. Someone else at the table ordered a spinach omelette and had to ask for a side of salsa because it was so bland. We won't be going back.

One of my favs so far. Excellent food, service outstanding, nice, upscale but casual setting. The outdoor patio is nice when the weather is good. The downside to this location is parking, or lack thereof.

I'm addicted to the hummus and sea scallop salad. The staff is great, too. Definitely one of my go-to spots.

The calamari is a great appetizer. I always have a salmon dish and my husband is going to try the pork porterhouse tonight. We also ordered the Mac n Cheese. Each bow tie pasta was drenched in white cheese then baked.

I've eaten at Tavern 5 times and have always been impressed with the service, atmosphere, cocktails and food. It is highly recommend a reservation if possible because we were told on our last visit it would be a two-hour wait for a table.

If you try to go to Pizzabella (newly opened across the street) between the hours of 3 & 5 on a Saturday, you will get the stink eye when you walk in. They are closed. Yes I'm still looking forward to trying Pizzabella but what a great opportunity to turn lemons in to lemonade (actually an Arnold Palmer for me, lemonade for my wife). As our friend, whom we were meeting to try PIzzabella, informed us of our need to find alternate dining options a nice lady also trying to visit Pizzabella informed us of two great options just across the street. Rye and our ultimate choice Tavern At Mission Farms. We chose the latter as we felt (not sure why) there would be more gluten free menu choices. Don't know if we were right but there are certainly many gluten free menu options at Tavern At Mission Farms. Being in Leawood you may be able to imagine what a Tavern would be like; dark wood, classy and yes high quality but short of elegant. Still it was, not cozy but comfortable. We were let to a nice booth by the window. *** Be sure to check in on Yelp *** I was surprised to learn we had a free order of Hummus coming our way just for checking in! Some of the best hummus I've had in town. You already know what the drinks were but for our friend. She had water. Also gluten free. Our server was Steven was very professional and fun! He kept our lemon infused drinks full and explained our menu choices well with some insight I've never heard before but was pleased to know. Everyone loved their choices but I'll stick with what I had as it was the special. Fettuccine with Beef Bolognese. I asked Steven if he tasted it. He was honest, he had not but he still assured me it would be good explaining when it was made and why that was important. That is was the Chef's chance to shine and show what he (verified it wasn't a she) could do. I'll tell you what he can do: Make awesome Beef Bolognese that's what. Chunky beef. Sauce has just a hint of sweetness. Perfect fettuccine noodles. Mmmm. So we will be back for hummus and who knows, it will depend on the Chef Special. Your loss PIzzabella. (kidding we are still coming to see you too)

I've been to the Tavern at Mission Farms twice for lunch during the week. I recommend getting there by 11:15, or making a reservation on Open Table if you want to lunch, later. I've done both and have had no problem getting seated quickly and served attentively. The first time, I got the fish tacos. They are excellent. The talapia is seasoned well and cooked perfectly- grilled. There is a perfect balance of seasoned fish, dressing and lettuce. The tacos are served with black beans with cotija cheese and a slaw. All super good. The second time, I considered the ahi tuna salad, but was lured back to the fish tacos. So, yes, their fish tacos are really good. I'm sure other things are good too.

Order was taken, slow service, ordered a glass of wine, took forever to get it, sandwich barely had dressing on it, very dry tasting. Again, waitress no where in sight to complain, needed more ketchup for fries too. Waitress never came by promptly to check on us after we finally got what we needed and ate.. Had to find someone else to take care of the check, good grief, we were ready to leave! Not a good experience.

Skip it! This is average food, average service in a very suburban setting. Dined there last night, the drinks ($9) were weak - I tried the blueberry cilantro margarita and they were served in boring glasses. Started with artichoke croquettes which should be renamed as Mozzarella Balls. I chose the Catch of the Day entree (waiter did not tell us the price) and it was definitely not worth $27! It was overcooked halibut; the best part of the dish was a brick of potato gratin but it would have been better suited for a Winter dish.

Since I can't give it 3.5 stars, I will give it 4 stars. I've been in twice...once for lunch and another time for drinks and apps. Both times, service has been very attentive and friendly. For lunch, I came with a girlfriend of mine on a Saturday afternoon. The place was pretty empty so I'm assuming it's more crowded for lunch during the week. I went with the Turkey Croissant and thought it was very good. My friend got the same thing, but her croissant was a bit greasy on the bottom. The second time I went, I met a friend for drinks on a Friday evening. It was packed and we stood by the bar and had a glass of wine. Finally some seats at the bar opened up and we were able to sit down. I had the Tavern Salad, which I thought was pretty awesome. I also tried the Baked Baby Brie which was just ok. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was a bit disappointed with it. I think I thought the brie would be a bit softer. The biggest disappointment with this place is the wine list. It's small and definitely lacking. The wines they do have are very generic, with the exception of one or two. With the amount of wine storage in this restaurant, I think they should have a larger, better selection.

Have now been several times and have had nothing but excellent food and excellent service. I reccomend the filet and hash with Tabasco cream sauce. Crab cakes are also amazing. The Homemade donuts alone are worth the trip.

I went with two girlfriends for a birthday lunch on a Saturday. We were promptly seated and greeted by our waiter. I ordered the Bloody Mary. It tasted exactly like shrimp cocktail, even with the shrimp taste, so it was sent back. Not what I was expecting for a Bloody Mary. The waiter kindly suggested another drink, which was delicious. Portion sizes were large for lunch and tasted great! The kale and salmon salad was very good. Friends had the BLT sandwich special and another salad. We all ate all of our food! Since it was for a birthday, the waiter offered a complimentary dessert. We ordered the chocolate cake. It was huge and very yummy! The bottom of the cake has chocolate chips baked in it. A man, who I am assuming was the manager, came over to tell us happy birthday and check in with us. Overall, it was a good experience and yummy meal. Just don't order the Bloody Mary unless you want to drink shrimp cocktail.

Between my wife and I, we had 4 drinks, an appetizer, and 2 main courses and we were done in 30 minutes. Never felt so rushed in a restaurant before.... And the restaurant was half full - so hard to believe they were turning a table. Initially I appreciated the efficiency, but after the 3rd time I was asked by someone if they could clear my plate, I was annoyed. It's a shame too because the food was good.

Last night my husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Tavern at Mission Farms. Our experience was made even better by the friendliness of our server "Mitch". He was exceptional in his attentiveness and knowledge of the menu. His recommendations were delightful and the Pork Medallions are wonderful. We'll recommend Tavern to our friends, but WE'LL be back and request Mitch to make our nights out at Tavern even more enjoyable. I recommend you do the same.

My family went for brunch last weekend and would recommend to our friends. Portions were sized for a normal diet not to take home leftovers. The service was excellent. Owners stopped by to check on us and visit which I appreciate because usually indicates in the end service which i thought was there when needed but not sitting down with us.

I think the food offered at Tavern in Mission Farms (same as its Prairie Village location) is just REALLY good. Solid, consistent, and always flavorful. My favorite dish is the 1/2 Chicken ... the flavor is just awesome. I really enjoy the wedge salad, too ... their blue cheese is some of my favorite. The staff is great, the food is great, and the atmosphere is much better now than it was at Avenues Bistro (the previous tenant). Such a nice upgrade to the space!

The Boyfriend and I have been to Tavern at Mission Farms three times in 10 days. We've brunched, we've lunched, and we've dined - wonderful. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is nice, portions are perfect, the menu has a lot of diversity, and the price is right. The Boyfriend and I have found "our place" at Tavern at Mission Farms. I cannot wait to bring friends and family (whenever they make it to town)!

We really like this place. We have never had a bad meal here. Is it the finest food in Kansas City? No. But it is consistently very good. Is it cheap? No. But it also isn't ridiculously expensive. It is one of the best dining values in the city. Can you get a better filet at the Capital Grille? Of course...but not for $29. At CG you start with the 45 dollar filet, then add a ten dollar potato and a ten dollar vegetable. At the tavern a great steak comes with very good potatoes and the most perfectly cooked asparagus in town. WARNING: VERY carefully discuss the temperature at which you want your steak prepared. Their "doneness" scale leans heavily toward the rare side. The filet is great. Just be sure there is no misunderstanding about how you want it prepared. (pass on the ribeye) The restaurant is sleek, modern, and very pleasant. However, its best to ask for a booth, because the chairs are...oddly uncomfortable. We have never had bad service. The manager is ever-present and never fails to visit each table to check on customer satisfaction. In all honesty, the food probably only rates four stars. However, the place is so pleasant, the staff so professional, the food so consistently good, that I give it five stars because it is such a good dining value.

A group of us went to the Tavern last night. We received excellent service and excellent food. I had ribeye, which was delectable. Others told me their trout, salmon and pasta were the same quality. For appetizers, the calamari were really quite special, and so was the hummus dish. I will definitely look forward to going back again. For quality of food, price was quite reasonable.

If you're looking for an upscale atmosphere for good food and drinks, this is the place. However, several places have good food. Where the Tavern wins you over is their customer service. I have traveled all over the globe, but I haven't been any place where the staff and management team treats you as well as the tavern...
