Ok, this was a private event on Sunday at Room 39 after their renovation. Menu was celebrating Bastille Day for the Chaîne - the owner/ chef was gracious with wine/ food pairings - service was fantastic and the personal pride of the owner shows in his enthusiasm for the food and drink.i will come back to enjoy the awesome patio-menu choices looked diverse and can accommodate a carnivore, herbivore or pescadore! Highly recommend you try this suburban jewel.

On the particular Saturday of my visit, there were a lot of women here. From the staff to the brunchers to the baby shower giving wrapped boxes of diapers to one another. Maybe it was the quaint farmhouse interior of this second-generation farm-to-table concept, or maybe my one-hour sampling of the clientele isn't in any way indicative of the demographics that usually frequent Room 39. On to the food: I'm not a big fan of brunch as a concept, but if I can enjoy a bloody Mary at noon while perusing the lunch menu, I'm all for it. The burger was exceptional in its simplicity and freshness of ingredients. Rarely do I find a french fry so well-prepared. Blanc, located right around the corner, would do well to take some notes. Elsewhere, a Welsh rarebit made with turkey was brightened with some well-placed jalapeno slices, which served as a way to cut through the heaviness of the open-faced sandwich while also adding some complexity. In many respects, Room 39 doesn't look to revolutionize the food they serve, but they do look to make the best version of what they serve using the best ingredients available. I'm definitely a fan.

Food-4 Stars Ambiance-3 Stars Service- 2 Stars Price/value- 3 Stars Menu-4 Stars I will start off by saying that I am a big fan of the original Room 39 on 39th St. So, with that in mind, this eatery offers interesting menu options with the same attention to detail as the original. However, the ambience is not quite as quaint as the original. The menu is full of wonderful options for every taste bud, whether you prefer your breakfast to be savory or sweet, there is something here for everyone. Since my tummy was thinking hearty...I ordered the pasta carbonara and thoroughly enjoyed it ! The pesto sauce on top of the perfectly poached egg was bright and lovely. The eggy sauce was rich and decadent. The perfect brunch entrée. Well, almost perfect, in order to enhance perfection, I ordered a blueberry and goat cheese pancake off the à la cart menu, just to balance out the savory and sweet. Oh, and...to be perfectly honest, I just wanted it! Unfortunately, my date was not quite as pleased with his menu choices. He ordered the baked eggs and found it to be too minimalistic, and the portion size was far too small for a hungry man. But, this is my review... He will have to write his own!

I just don't get the hype about this place - I'd rather eat at a dive and have great food than eat at a fancy place with mediocre food. I never would have picked this place, but it was a business lunch. Service was just fine, no complaints at all about that. As a vegetarian, I had two choices on the menu -- which, hey, is one more than I sometimes have! I had the black bean burger, touted as "homemade." It didn't taste any different than a frozen burger -- but that was just fine. The fries were... again, just ok. I can make better fries at home. And it was $9 for a mediocre veggie burger and fries. I will avoid going back if at all possible.

Breakfast for lunch - one of the great menu innovations! Today I had the blueberry yogurt pancakes with a side of perfectly cooked crispy bacon, and wife had the frittata and fruit. Everything was exceptional. Only criticism: coffee was just fair. We will be back for a noon time breakfast.

I came here with my mother for brunch, and while I can't complain about much specific at Room 39, there just seemed to be something missing. The service was fine, if a little impersonal and slow. The coffee was good, the bloody mary was fine, and my baked eggs were good. The selection there seems to change seasonally, which is cool. Mine came with spaghetti squash and bacon and greens, but was somehow oddly and distractingly sweet (I'm sure it was the squash, it was just unexpected). Also, my eggs had nice, soft yolks and a bit of liquidy white that wasn't so nice. Everything was good, but I think if I'm going to venture to Mission Farms for brunch, I'll go back to the more comfortable and warmer Rye. I can't think of much specific to complain about at Room 39, it just isn't the option there I like the best.

I have been here twice now and have a had a great experience each times. Let's start with the "Pick Me Ups" - the mimosa is fantastic and the fresh squeezed orange juice is out of this world. I also found them to be accommodating when we asked for a mimosa made with grapefruit juice. Food I can solidly vouch for: Blueberry and Goat Cheese Pancakes - two pancakes served with a side of scrambled farm eggs and bacon lardons. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of this combo. The eggs with the lardons were downright decadent! I would have never put goat cheese and blueberries together but hell - it works! Plus, when I was pleasantly surprised when I cut the pancake and a blueberry spit juice out. Yum! BELT Sandwich - local tomatoes, farm eggs, bacon, lettuce, and basil aioli on toasted wheat with breakfast potatoes. There is something to be said about the delicious nature of locally sourced veggies and meat. The tomato was full of flavor, the eggs were creamy goodness, the bacon divine, and the basil aioli a perfect addition to the flavor profile. The breakfast potatoes were yummy but a slight bit on the salty side for me. However - not too salty that I didn't finish them! Ha Artichoke Toast - artichoke spread, arugula, and a pair of poached eggs on grilled ciabatta with a side of fresh fruit. I was hesitant to get this the last time I ate here but it certainly left a good impression on me. It was filling, but not too filling, and was different than anything I've ever had. I would have it again after I have tried everything else on the menu. One thing I enjoyed on both occasions was the general ambiance of the place. They play good music (that isn't too loud or obtrusive), and the volume of other conversations gives Room 39 a happy, positive, and content vibe. Additionally, we have had excellent service on both occasions. Overall - this is a great go-to place for good eats when out South.

This is an adorable little restaurant that we frequent for breakfast. My husband doesn't like it as much as I do. We've ordered the shirred eggs, goat cheese pancakes and Huevos Rancheros - very good. It's a nice change from Le Peep or First Watch.

While the food was acceptable (the hot courses should have been hot, poached eggs were overcooked), the manager was nothing short of obnoxious. I was surprised that the orange juice came with ice, and her response was so rude the table next to us - and our waitress - said something. Nice way to start your meal when visiting from out of town. Her staff looked intimidated as opposed to happy to be working there - too bad, as they all seemed nice.

Go here for brunch. It is that simple. While there are many options for solid brunch in Johnson County and across the State Line, Room 39 makes it a point to be a member of the community and add something special to the experience. We sat at the bar during this visit because the dining room was full. It was a Saturday morning and Santa Claus was visiting with the children by the entrance. It is not every day that a restaurant pays to bring in St. Nick. The service at the bar was excellent. Our food, however, was disappointing this time around. I ordered the brioche french toast which, despite its description on the menu, lacked flavor. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy and noted that the biscut was hard and the gravy was under seasoned. We met a friend at the restuarant who noted that the Huevos Rancheros and the Croque Madame were her favorites. The overall experience was as good as any we have had in the KC Metro Area. I look forward to returning to try one of their other dishes.

Room 39 at Mission Farms is our new favorite place for breakfast/brunch in Kansas City! The good: Great ambiance, live yet soothing colors throughout the restaurant. Comfortable seating but slightly tight as the restaurant is on the smaller side. The better: The menu is fantastic...great choices and all meals we have ordered have been spectacular. Drinks are wonderful...great touch using local Roasterie coffee! Staff is fantastic! We've loved each waitress we've had so far! The best: FRESH LOCAL INGREDIENTS! The eggs are extraordinary...butter is delectable...we could ramble all day about the excellent quality of food served in the restaurant. Not to mention, the chefs do a wonderful job prepping the food...lovely job! It would be a shame to mention the amazing prices...for equal or less than you pay for local "chain" restaurants, you can get a meal that is notably higher in quality and indescribably better in taste! The picky: Although the menu is fantastic, it is slightly challenging for someone who doesn't eat pork / beef. HOWEVER, the chef has been VERY accommodating without complaint EVERY SINGLE TIME and altered a meal I wanted with turkey or fish to make sure I could enjoy what my taste buds desired. The truth: The host/hostess situation is in need of re-evaluation. Often, there is not a host/hostess at the front station to greet you. The wait for one to seat you can be extended, despite having reservations. It would be nice to see a better-organized system. OVERALL: THIS IS A MUST! We can absolutely vouch for Room 39 at Mission Farms with a strong recommendation to all who are looking for a great place for breakfast/brunch!!!!

I recently had Room 39 cater a small graduation party for about 30 guests. I can not say enough nice things about their catering operation. I received such excellent service from the very beginning, from help choosing the menu to the cleaning up from the party. When I arrived at the party, I was served a cocktail & never had to lift a finger. The food was amazing and all my party guests were impressed and remarked on the food all evening.

Delicious! Fantastic service and great ambiance. Went for restaurant week with a group, and everyone enjoyed their dinner. I went for something different with the pork schnitzel which was perfectly cooked and crispy, and the beignets were delicious as well.

I've only been here once for breakfast but it was fantastic. Great service, good coffee and excellent food. The biscuits and gravy, while they aren't your typical diner style B's&G's, are some of the best I've ever had!!

Great Mimosas and Bloody Marys! 2 of us had blueberry pancakes, which were very good! My mom had the biscuits and gravy....she thought biscuits were dry and very little sausage in gravy!. Wonderful service!

Really good! Besides having great service from Michael (who sang Happy Anniversary to us) and an amazing bartender, the food was so amazing. We had the four course tasting which included chicken livers, butternut squash soup, and the kc strip. Also the goat cheese beignets was crazy good. Yum!

This was our first visit and we will be back. The fresh local ingredients and skilled chefs make this a must-eat restaurant. I had the stuffed quail and it was delicious. It was like eating thanksgiving dinner all in one plate without being overly heavy. My wife had the pork chop. It was cooked to perfection and full of delicate flavors. The deserts were delicious. Each combined different ingredients that created fun interplay between sweet and savory and multiple textures.

No complaints. Came here on a date night. I got the 4 course tasting. The BF decided to get his own assortment of things and I must say, it was quite the boost that EVERYTHING that came out of the kitchen for me was better than what he ordered ;) That doesn't mean that his food was bad though... Just funny for the picky man! The service was fantastic. You can BYOBoW (BYOB of wine) ;) I didn't dislike anything that came out to us and everything was a good temperature (meat, etc.) We'll be back.

**This review is based on LUNCH only** I had very high expectations of this place as I've heard so many good things about it and the food looks amazing. I met a friend there during my lunch hour but arrived earlier, so I just waited to order until he showed up. Unfortunately, our communication was off and he was en route to the original location. As I was waiting, I was really shocked by how UNaccomodating the server was. In fact, each time he'd walk by my table, he would just give me this pretentious look as if I didn't belong there. Really?? You could have at least asked me if there was anything else I needed in the meantime - something! Also, I noticed the other tables were given complimentary bread, and he couldn't even bring that promptly, I had to ASK him for it. I get it, we're in smack dab Leawood, however I don't feel I needed to be treated any different than the other patrons in the restaurant. At this point, I was starving and I thought I'd ask for some kind of substance to get me by, so I ordered a small house salad. After annihilating that salad, which I might add was delicious, my friend finally arrived and then another gal showed up promptly take our order. Time out, I thought the guy was our server? I mean I wouldn't have known either way since we weren't greeted by either one. So I asked the girl server... so are you our server is the other guy? I'm a little confused. She said he was doing a shift change, so she'd be taking care of us now and in fact all the servers take care of the tables. That's funny because we sure didn't get that treatment. And what's funnier, the guy server was still waiting tables. Unless my eyes were lying to me, he was still there servicing other tables. Pretty crappy. Note to the guy server: If you're reading this, I know you were giving us that pretentious, snotty look EVERY TIME you walked by.. and for you to proceed to work through our entire dine-in experience is beyond me. Where was I? Ha oh yeah, the food: I ordered the Chicken livers and my friend ordered the Quiche. The chicken livers was delicious and that sauce was amazing. Props to the chef. I also got to try a bite of my friend's quiche - it was very fluffy and light, I liked that. It breaks my heart to come to a place with delicious food, but with horrendous service. Food: 4 stars Service: 2.5 stars Overall: 3 stars I really enjoyed the food. The service was awkward, weird, and uncomfortable. You know that feeling when you show up to a house party uninvited and everyone stares at you? I felt like that with one of their servers. Not to mention, we were the youngest party there by a stretch, so we felt REALLY out of place. The majority, (if not all) of the crowd there was 50+ years old... it may be because it was a Thursday afternoon? Heck, I don't know. I will certainly be back, but I'm definitely going to have to migrate to the other location to get my fix.

REVIEW FOR DRINKS ONLY A whole page of egg cocktails? My inner Rocky insisted that we visit Room 39 just to try some of these. The restaurant has a classy ambience and an intimate patio. The Green Fairy cocktail had a nice rich foaminess without any prominent, unpleasant egg flavor, though it was heavy on the absinthe. Our server was super friendly and talked to us about the bartender's pre-prohibition vision of cocktails...which means that I'll definitely be back to try more!

Joining the blandwagon reviewers for Room 39 in Leawood, a lovely dining space with really boring food. Jamie and I had brunch here on perfect cool sunny mornings in the past month, and were underwhelmed by underseasoned food at best, and dry, underseasoned food, at worst. Some random observations: - ubiquitous roasted potato side has no salt or seasoning- please add a dusting of rosemary, and a pinch of salt, to keep me awake? - french toast was dull, served with the even duller potatoes mentioned above - croque madame was the best item I found- choose that if you must dine here - chicken and biscuit is served dry enough to choke a horse, unless you pay an extra $1.50 for a tiny pitcher of unseasoned, bland sausage gravy You can eat great food in a charming space if you drive 30 minutes north to the Volker neighborhood location of Room 39 on 39th St. close to KU Med center. No brunch here, but fine food and wine for dinner, well worth the trip, and you will look forward to returning. If you want a tasty breakfast (in a pedestrian diner setting) in the Leawood/South KC, KS area, go to Jerry's Cafe next to Jasper's just north of State Line and 435, and get some of the best breakfast food in the city for $ prices.

I have an outstanding experience every time I eat here. It is located conveniently near friends/family that I visit on the KS side, so I am so very thankful for the fact there there is a Room 39 in Leawood. I have now eaten at this location for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And each experience, from the moment we were greeted at the door, to the ordering process, the attentiveness, the tolerance of my many questions & special dietary needs, and the service overall continues to awe me with excellence. Highlights for me personally are: * AMAZING menu. Small but quality. There is always something delicious. And to know that whatever it might be is fresh, local, and safe for me to eat seals the deal. * Great service (so far, I swear everyone there LOVES their job - that is inspiring to me, and it sets a nice tone for my dining experience) * House made Chai. What? I even was able to have a house made chai made special with my own nerdy little tiny box of coconut milk that I never leave home without. It was SO yummy. * Creative menu. But not so creative that they lose sight of what tastes good. I have gone in there wanting to order one of everything, just so I can try it. * Cocktail menu. OMG they have 9 or 10 egg white cocktails. This is insane and wonderful. Yes this is in the suburbs, Which one of the great things about this type of place is that there is a parking lot. So more than once I've arrived during not so great weather. But it was not an issue. We had a few steps from the car to the door. Even though this is located beneath suburban condos, they do have a patio for outside dining. If you are outside at the right time, you may even catch sight of one of the beautiful Great Blue Herons who dine for fish in the nearby waters on the walking trail. I actually am making myself hungry writing this review. The last time I was at this location, the kitchen concocted some type of hybrid gluten free combination of a main dish item with my beloved side I was craving (brussel sprouts). I am having flashbacks of that meal. I think that is a sign of a pretty good restaurant, if I continue to dream about previous dishes I had.

we had early diner reservations - sat outside on the patio. Great service - my wife ordered the Halibut which she enjoyed. We ordered the chicken livers for an appetizer and it was wonderful. We have also dined here for brunch and enjoyed the choices on the menu. Would recommend this restaurant.

Sunday brunch with the roomies--beautiful restaurant, friendly servers, even better food. I had the veggie burger. It could have been a little more flavorful, but it was the best I've ever had overall. It was dense and moist and hearty. The side salad was also very delicious and went very well with the burger. It had diced beets, almonds, and goat cheese--a great combo. My roommates had the gnocchi and the brioche french toast. Both were so delicious. The gnocchi was out of this world--the chef sauteed the gnocchi so the dumplings were crispy on the outside and melty on the inside. The french toast was thick-cut and just the right texture. They also serve some of the best coffee here. Just get a bottomless cup and you'll be set. The highlight of the meal was dessert. (Yes, we had to get dessert.) We ordered the lavender panna cotta, which is one of the top two best desserts I've ever had (which is saying something). The flavors and textures were amazingly complex. Creamy, lightly scented panna cotta topped with mint and almonds in a bright strawberry soup. The mint made the dish, and the almonds added great texture. Get this dessert if you go here. I want to go back right now.

We tried this Room 39 location after enjoying the original one. This one in Mission Farms was not the same...poor waitstaff will remind you of your lone visit to Noodles and Company and the food while good was not cooked as ordered. Wine bottles are priced at 3.5/4x retail.

I called to make a last-minute reservation for Father's Day. When I spoke with the hostess, she sounded generally uninformed. Anyway, so we were able to get a table. My parents arrived before I did, and I think we waited between 5-10 minutes after I sat down before we were greeted by our server. It was a pretty awkward interaction because his facial expression and tone just seemed very...confused...lost. I ordered a Bloody Mary, and my dad ordered a Mimosa. It was pretty tasty - a little disappointed that all of the restaurants I order one from now feel the need to be "fancy" and "different" with their random garnishes...call me old fashioned but I like a good celery stalk in my Bloody Mary. In this one it was a cucumber, onion, olive, and lime, no salt... eh, ok. The server took our order after dropping our drinks. He accommodated our special requests without hesitation, which was nice. Unfortunately, he never came back until our food came out...which also took a while. He showed up when the food got there, and then not again until we were all finished. Tea was empty, mimosa was empty, and my sister had not eaten any of her dish because she didn't care for it at all. I ordered the Brioche french toast which was great although it is DEFINITELY more like a pancake than french toast. I understand the way it was cooked is more "french toast"...but the consistency of the "toast" was like a pancake. Pretty good, nonetheless...but it's a little misleading (thus, why my sister didn't care for it because she does not like pancakes.) The bacon that came with it was dry, rock hard, cold, and just broke apart when I touched it....it was pretty gross. My dad ordered the chicken biscuit which looked really good. Server finally came back, took our plates while other servers helped bus the table and refill drinks finally. Overall the service was lost on us... I saw other servers being far more attentive to their tables. I think the quaint and charming atmosphere from the original Room 39 was not captured at this location. Food was good but not memorable. Eh, the whole experience was average.

I am almost intimidated to write a review criticizing Room 39, but there might be others out there who have a similar radar for humbug when it comes to determining what makes a restaurant in this price category truly worth it. I have now eaten twice at Room 39, and at best, it has been underwhelming. I started dinner on my more recent visit with cucumber gazpacho, priced around $8. The waitress warned me that it was heavy on cumin, but I like cumin, and the dish sounded refreshing, so I ordered it. Yes, it was heavy on cumin, but it also was heavy on water. The soup, served in a shallow bowl with a teaspoon of yogurt in the middle, was basically water, ground-up cucumber and cilantro, a lot of salt, and yes, cumin. It left me disappointed. Had it been served for $2, perhaps it would have tasted better. My entree, at $20 or thereabouts, was a plate of burned potato gnocchi with dried-out bits of bacon. There was no sauce. This was a deadly dull dish, heavy and flavorless--except for the flavor of scorched--and again, outrageously priced for what it was. We had wished to go to Rye, which is right by Room 39 at Mission Farms, but the wait was over an hour. We should have known when we entered Room 39 that the few number of diners was a bad sign. Local, seasonal foods that are abundant right now should not be priced so high when the quality of what is being served is so poor. Bluebird Bistro, Rye, Justus Drugstore, and Michael Smith, are just a few of the KC restaurants doing similar things with local, seasonal foods, and overall, they are doing it a whole lot better.

I don't often write reviews, but I have to write this one. I took my husband here for a birthday dinner last night. We had the tasting menu (Pea shoot salad, blue oyster appetizer, foie gras app, cod wrapped with prosciutto and fried capers, and he had the short ribs, and the goat cheese beignets for dessert. My husband also had a Cabernet red and I had the Riesling. From start to finish (the greeting at the door, the service, the wine, every single course, and even the exit) was absolutely fabulous. My husband's quote was, "This choice makes up for every bad restaurant, you have or will ever choose. You won't ever top it, so from now on, it doesn't matter what you pick." We decided that it was, for lack of a better term, a food gasm. Spectacular service with fresh & beyond delicious food throughout the ENTIRE meal! Thank you. We will definitely be back.

Went here for the first time on my 40th birthday. The liver appetizer was the highlight of my meal. I had the duck and it had the texture of steak, I had to cut it with a knife which I've never done before with duck. The service was good and so were the drinks. As with any upscale restaurant the portions were small, I just wish the bill would have been. For the money I was pretty unhappy with the meal. I've had better for less.

Love Room 39 and this may actually be a rare situation where the Mission Farms location is better than their downtown KC couterpart. We started out at the bar to have a drink and that alone was a great experience. The bartender was really fun to watch and puts a lot of love into his libations. It was like Manifesto, but without the need for night vision goggles so you can actually see what they are doing. I had a Moscow Mule which was served in the traditional copper mug, very tasty, but you can only have one since it is 95% vodka. Dinner was very good. The guys had the 4 course tasting menu and the ladies each got the gnocchi which had an unusal preparation by boiling for 1/2 time and pan searing the other half. Made for a crispy texture on the outside, but soft and tender inside. I wished I had just ordered my own because it was that good! The Nantucket Bay appetizer was very good and I really enjoyed the KC strip. Sometimes you are very fortunate and eat a dish that is truly unforgettable. For dessert the goat cheese beignets with caramel soup will be burned into my memory for the rest of my life. So good! As far as the restaurant itself there is a certain Mission Farms sterility to it. Yes, it is nice, but it does seem to lack a little personality. But after the meal I wouldn't have cared if we dined in the middle of the Walmart toy department.

Came here for breakfast. Breakfast food is some of my favorite and with all the good press, I had high hopes. Everything was solid and they covered all of the basics. Nothing jumped of the page of the menu and nothing jumped off the plate. There are better places to grab breakfast for less. Cute place and I'm sure it's reliable but I likely won't be back. They do open early for the hospital peeps so I guess that's a perk. I'd hope dinner service would rock since this guy is up for the Beard award.

I don't recommend the brioche french toast: yelp.com/biz_photos/room… It's a very dry style: it's more like a very dense cornbread: yelp.com/biz_photos/room… It's sort of like compacted sawdust. It's the "particle board" of french toast. But the breakfast potatoes are great: I think they are deep fried. The bacon's also good.

This is one of my go to breakfast spots. Love the oven eggs - I would highly recommend this dish. Fast and friendly service. A while back, our family had a rough outing with our son who was 2 at the time and the staff was very understanding when we had to make a quick exit. It made a big impact in our day and showed their real sense for customer service.

Four course tasting menu, hands down. That's where it's at. Let me break it down for you: you can pick anything on the menu (though some dishes have an upcharge because they cannot be made in a 'tasting' portion) that fits into the following courses: salad, app or pasta, entree, and dessert. So I checked out the menu and chose my yummies. First up, the grilled romaine salad with shaved beets, bleu cheese, and jalapeno vinaigrette. The lettuce had a great sweet grilled flavor and the dressing was amazing. It had a subtle heat that worked on your tongue throughout the whole dish. Second course, I went with the chicken livers appetizer. People, there aren't words for how amazing this dish was. Seriously, no words. It was my hands down fav by far and that's saying something from a girl who loves dessert above most all else most days. So yea, the chicken livers in a bacon, caper, white wine shallot sauce...oh yea. The dish should come with crostini but being grain-free meant that they just brought me a spoon instead, so I could get every last drop of the sauce. Yum!! For my entree, I had the scallops. I can't have the polenta cake they come with so I had the smokey potato hash instead which was probably a bit heavy to compliment the scallops but it was incredibly tasty. And then finally, dessert was the espresso creme brulee and it was divine. I ate it slowly and carefully in order to get every last possible morsel out of the ramekin. Delicious. A few more things: the food was great, clearly, but the service was also really well done. We were greeted with a smile. My water glass never went empty. (Drinks for those at my table came a bit slowly but I didn't order any so I wasn't annoyed.) The waitress checked back but didn't hover. They accommodated the gluten-free, grain-free, etc with ease and were super good about communicating it to all the staff. One of the ladies even was so respectful and asked if we wanted bread at all for the table, given that I couldn't have any. How thoughtful. Great experience.

After getting completely dissed at a nearby greasy spoon diner, the significant other and I were ready to go somewhere, ANYWHERE else to get our breakfast on. We were both completely out of our element, being in deep JOCO as opposed to our downtown KC comfort bubble. Where could we go to get a taste of the city amongst the beige McMansions? Room 39 at Mission Farms! ***Begin soapbox rant*** I have a pretty big issue with Mission Farms and how they've encouraged so many great urban core restaurants to open up sanitized, sterile replications for the suburban set. Now, I'm not against businesses succeeding and wanting to expand. It just seems curious that this one development is pretty much exclusively "safe" versions of KC proper restaurants, protecting their customers from the dangers of city life, like having to parallel park. ***end soapbox rant*** All of this would be much more of an issue if Room 39 pt deux wasn't any good. Fortunately, it's awesome! Now, the dining room may be a bit sterile, and you're going to be surrounded by ladies who lunch, but beyond that, it's a killer experience. We had phenomenal service. My water and coffee stayed full, and I accidentally spilled the creamer and my server didn't even blink an eye. And the food was of course great. Today I had the steak and eggs benedict, and it was one of the best ways to start my day that I could imagine. I can't speak for dinner, but this is a great spot for breakfast. If I'm going to HAVE to have a photocopy experience of a great KC restaurant, I'll gladly let that experience be Room 39. BONUS POINTS: This morning, the day after the death of MCA, Room 39's background music was The In Sounds from Way Out, the Beastie Boys 100% instrumental album. Major props for that people!

The fries are wonderful as a starter. My husband had the Carbonara (it was good, but not spectacular), and I had the small salad and a bowl of the split pea and ham soup. The salad was good; the soup was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. The main quibbles we had with this place concern the atmosphere and the service. The room is beautiful - very serene and sophisticated. Why, then, are they playing country music? I have no quarrel with country music in a different setting, but it is a major disconnect with the beauty and ambiance of the restaurant. The other problem, and this one is more annoying, was server Meagan, who talks to you in an affected, chirpy voice as if you are a 3-year-old in a preschool class who she is trying to get to join the sharing circle. Her table-side manner seems fake and condescending. We probably will dine elsewhere next time.

I went here for a birthday dinner with my boyfriend recently. I had a kir royale and he had a beverage with Madeira in it that he really enjoyed. The bread on the table was fantastic. We shared the foie gras for an appetizer and each had an order of the sweetbreads as an entree. Everything was good and the price, considering the ingredients they used, was fantastic. Also, sweetbreads are something that we'd never attempt to make at home. The only reasons there are 4 stars rather than 5 is that the foie gras (though perfectly cooked) could have used some seasoning and the sweetbreads should have been a bit more tender. We enjoyed dinner and the portions were so large that we had to skip dessert.

I've loved Room 39 since they opened on 39th Street. I think their menu is creative and they seem to go out of their way to use local, fresh and seasonal ingredients. Last weekend and friend and I had brunch on Saturday and it was, as usual, a great experience. Fritatta with brussel sprouts, mushrooms, sweet potato and goat cheese...seriously, so yummy...The Croque Madame...uh-huh, so good. I've always been a fan of the 39th street location but am so happy that when I don't want to risk that CRAZY 39th street traffic I can head out to Mission Farms...where the traffic is somehow, worse...

I was so excited to finally eat Sunday brunch at Room 39. It definitely lived up to my expectations. I thought the restaurant was a great size. Not too big, but just big enough. When you first walk in, there's a bar area separate from the dining room. The dining room is an open, simple space with large windows. Our server was very friendly, attentive, and enthusiastic. She seemed to really love her job and the food at Room 39. She was excited about everything that we ordered. I went with the Croque Madame. Ham and gruyere cheese in between toasted bread with a fried egg on top. It was not easy to eat, but it was delicious! All the flavors worked so well together. It came with breakfast potatoes which were golden and crispy. My mom went with the brioche french toast and loved it! The portion size was not big like most french toast. It was two round pieces of brioche with a side of bacon. Since I enjoyed brunch so much, I'm looking forward to coming back for lunch or dinner. I will be coming back for brunch as well!

Super ok, all around. Came with a group of co-workers, all female. There were a couple dietary restrictions, and they catered to us wonderfully. We got there a little early, and beat the dinner rush. The ambiance was nice, but I always feel like upscale restaurants like this should have more secluded areas that make conversation a little easier. This place is very open...not a place I'd pick for a date night. The meal started off with an amuse-bouche - butternut squash, apple cider soup. It was nice and definitely a fun little surprise. A few of us shared the calamari. It was cooked to perfection...not chewy or mushy, but was nothing all that exciting. I always look forward to a mind blowing aioli with calamari, and this just didn't live up to it. Next was the arugula salad...high point of the meal, for sure. Perfect combination of savory and smoky, citrusy and sweet and crisp and peppery. Maybe I ordered the wrong entree, but I really have nothing good to say about the gnocchi. I love bacon, but when I order a gnocchi dish, I expect it to have the thick, rich, savory flavor that makes these little potato pasta dumplings so amazing. This was one part bacon, one part onion, one part gnocchi and super dry. I love the idea of farm-to-table...like the rest of the 20-something, wanna be hipsters. Five years ago I probably would have loved this restaurant, but now the market is saturated in this type of experience. If you're going to be truly successful in farm-to-table, you really have to make the food first and really nail it. This just didn't do it for me.

Fluffy biegnets, served in a soup bowl, swimming in a delectable, rich caramel sauce and a dollop of creamy goat cheese. This may be the best food I've ever eaten so it needed to be the lead-in!! I was boohooing about being out south and outside of the 7 mile radius in which I exist so it was suggested to stop at Room 39, Mission Farms, and see if we could get in on Saturday night. They were busy so we opted to sit at the bar since the energetic bar tender convinced us that he wouldn't say 'no' to anything we asked! DEAL! I have never been disappointed at a Room 39. I prefer the location on 39th street but after Saturday's experience at the Mission Farms location I will never whine about going back to that location. Their menus are slightly different but you cannot go wrong with anything they prepare. I was there, in Leawood, so I did order anything I wanted. The tasting option is the best anywhere. I started with the heirloom tomato soup that had a bit of pesto in the center. This was a full bowl of soup, not a cup and it was quite creamy and full of flavor. A meal in itself. I followed this with the arugula salad with heirloom tomatoes, pine nuts, prosciutto, with an untypical balsamic dressing. I had the halibut which was a smaller portion than the main entree size (thank God) due to ordering the bargain Tasting Menu. The fish was grilled perfectly and placed atop a medley of summer veggies with a heavy drizzle of creamy balsamic sauce. Everything was scrumptious. If you read the lead-in line you know what followed...food love!

I was blessed to enjoy dinner with friends on my birthday here. It would be easy to write in detail what transpired but that would take too long. So here is a condensed version. The bartender knows how to pour a drink, decant a bottle of wind, and make sure everyone at the bar, either waiting for a table or eating, is well taken care of. His moves on Saturday night were like a dance, full of smooth moves, and quick attention to details. Once seated or server, a veteran of the restaurant for I believe over 5 years, Jen, continued the grace we encountered earlier. Her years of being in the service showed through as our expectations were met by her with ease. The 4 courses we had asked the chef to choose were magnificent. There was nothing for us to do except enjoy our company and relish in savory tastes presented in each course. What I will say is that they know exactly how to make your evening memorable, remarkable, and unforgettable. I should mention that we, 3 of us, had the prefix dinner and told our proficient server" chef's choice" on each course. Outstanding! All of this on a Saturday night with a packed restaurant and full bar. Go, try the one on 39th, try the one in Leawood, if you love food in Kansas City you must try Room39.

I've dined at Room 39 on multiple occasions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I always walk away feeling that I had a good experience, but I don't feel compelled to immediately return. I'll come back in a few months when I'm looking for a change but Room 39 has not made it into my regular dining rotation. 1st, the service is always fantastic... Very knowledgeable bar and wait staff who seem to take their job seriously... I really appreciate the professional service at Room 39... The food is very good; always very fresh, local ingredients ... Although the selection is somewhat limited. Sometimes it is tough when I come here for business dining and a few people can't find something they really enjoy on the menu. Last time that I came her for dinner, we started with calamari and it was very well done... Our party of four ordered steaks, salmon and corn flan which were thoroughly enjoyed by all. The desserts were not a hit... None of us were very impressed with our dessert selections which ranged from mocha cake to goat cheese beignets. My suggestion is to check the web site for the daily menu before going to Room 39. That way you can check to see if everyone in your party will find something they will enjoy on the days menu...

Awesome!! 3 people for dinner and each did the 4 course tasting menu so we got to try several of the options on the menu. Cheese plate - amazing!! salads and soups were excellent. Calamari may have been best i ever had. trout, chicken & duck for entrees were all superb. Unbelievable that this place didn't fill up on a Friday night over the prime dinner hours. C'mon KC!!!

We went there this evening & things started out well with a fun looking drink menu & infused vodkas. I had a bloody mary with bacon infused vodka & jalapeño infused vodka....fun idea, but just ok. We were then brought a amuse-bouche of a chilled tomato watermelon soup that was very good. We both decided on the four course tasting & my first course was the pork carpaccio. It was very good & fun to try something new & different. My second course was the pappardelle pasta & it was fair, but my husband had the chicken livers & I have NEVER liked liver of any kind but this was fabulous! My next course was the ribeye. I ordered it rare to medium rare & when it came out it was obviously medium....even the waitress quickly agreed. She took it away & said they would have it taken care of ASAP. A few minutes later she returned to tell me that the chef said it was cooked correctly so he needed to know if I wanted it cooked more or less?! Seriously?! There was NO red & very little pink! What part am I missing here? Plus & most importantly DO NOT correct the guest!! That just really set me off. It did come out the second time cooked correctly, but the mashed potatoes & haricot vert were just average. Now the dessert I chose was the goat cheese beignets in a carmel soup & it was amazing. There were three large donut hole type beignets sitting in caramel sauce & topped with whipped cream. It really was a lot esp for ending a four course meal. We were really impressed with many things, but correcting me on the doneness of my steak & then only getting an apology after having to wait for my food to be recooked AND insulting me does not sit well with me. My husband was literally finished eating by the time my food came, they took his plate away after setting mine down. That type of situation is something that will cause me to never return....there are too many other restaurants in Kansas City.

I love, love, love going to this restaurant! The chef is so creative in the design of the dishes and the execution is consistently exceptional! This is the only restaurant that I ever overeat at. Normally I'm so good at restraining myself so I can try all the courses and leave comfortably full, but the food is so good I just keep wanting one more bite! Maybe if they didn't also make really good French 75's I'd do better at moderation, but it's definitely worth the food hangover!

My first trip won't be my last! Great brunch at a great price. Fresh squeezed orange juice - yes, please! Fresh oj was just the start to a delightful brunch. I ordered the Chicken in a Biscuit (sans gravy) and it was wonderful. The chicken was fried, but not greasy, and oh-so-tender. The biscuit was fluffy. The eggs were smothered in cheese. The potatoes were perfect. And just to experiment, I ordered a blueberry goat cheese pancake. Guess what? It was awesome! The Boyfriend and I are going back. Soon.

My wife and I took in Room 39 for some early afternoon brunch to get our day started before heading to the amusement park in KC. It was located relatively close to our hotel (Aloft - Leawood, KS), and all of the other reviews were quite positive. We got there about an hour before they stopped serving breakfast, and we were seated immediately. The decor in this place is a little reminiscent of an upscale restaurant in some ways, and a lot of the patrons seemed to be dressed more for that (think business casual to dressy casual). We were a little out of place, as we were dressed to spend a few hours riding roller coasters; however, we were treated as well as any other guests all the same. My wife ordered the french toast (custard-coated brioche), and I order the chicken biscuit with gravy. We shared bites of each others' entrees, and it's my pleasure to share that both were delicious in my opinion! Keeping to the point, the wait staff was excellent and quite speedy with our service. The price turned out to be quite good for the portions of food we received, and the coffee is excellent as well. The mocha I ordered was just what I wanted and a very generous portion to boot. If you're looking for great brunch in the Leawood/Overland Park area, you can't go wrong with Room 39 on Saturdays and Sundays. My only knock against the restaurant would be that it's located in a strip mall which seems to contradict the atmosphere and decorum of the place, but it seems like quite a lot of upscale restaurants are snuggled in right with the casual ones in the KC metro area. Can't dock them a star for that.

Good, almost Great We were directed here by a Kansas City native while we were vacationing. We couldn't wait for our Sunday Brunch. Room 39 in Leawood is new, clean & has a light Sunday Brunch kind of atmosphere. My friend has a bland palette, so she was not impressed by the fancy offerings - she prefers her cheese be american or cheddar - I'm more of the goat, Gorgonzola, & brie type, so the foodie-style menu had me hooked instantly! The staff was very accommodating to my friend, and made her a cheddar cheese omelette without hesitation. My favorite breakfast on earth is Eggs Benedict. The offering of this type included strip steak cooked to order on top of a homemade english muffin, sauteed swiss chard, poached egg & Bearnaise sauce. It was good. It was ALMOST delicious. The mistake was this...although the meat was excellent quality & cooked to perfection, absolutely NO SPICE was added to the steak - no salt, no garlic, no worchestershire sauce, NOTHING. All meat needs atleast salt to draw the best flavors to the surface. Additionally, the swiss chard may have been simply steamed rather than sauteed - it would have been ideal with just a tiny bit of olive oil & garlic salt. The Bearnaise sauce was excellent, but traditional Hollandaise would have been better. This restaurant came so close to being foodie heaven. Dear Chef of Room 39 - foodies love your menu. We also love bold flavors! Spice it up!

Their "reach exceeded their grasp" my husband said and I agree about our recent meal at Room 39. We each had the 4 course tasting menu. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food was surprisingly mediocre with the exception of the chicken livers which were delicious. My halibut was over cooked and the sauce had a heavy vinegar taste. My mushroom chili soup was not richly flavored as one might expect; instead the chili gave it some heat but little flavor, and the broth tasted like miso and vinegar- very odd. Several of the dishes were overly salty even though we both like salty food. I doubt that we will return although we live in the neighborhood.

Kansas City Restaurant Week - Room 39 After an adventure week of fine dining, courtesy of restaurant week, following dinners at the American (excellent), Justus Drugstore (awful), Michael Smith (excellent), and Bluestem (sublime), our party of four sought our last reservation at Room 39. Room 39 is a completely charming urban American bistro that would not be out of place in dining districts of New York, Chicago, or San Francisco. It's a bright and cheerful room, with an unfussy and self-confident attitude. Currently a single artist's work is on display; small paintings on plywood, I think, hung on an eye-level line around the room that are witty and satirical takes on cartoon characters and vintage advertising. Service is cheerful, welcoming and efficient. In spite of a busy Saturday night, our table was ready on time, always a pleasure. As at most places this week, the usual menu was offered along with the prix-fixe menu for restaurant week. We shared two of the starters: goat cheese gnocchi with oyster mushrooms, Maine lobster and tarragon cream, and chicken livers with white wine, bacon, capers and shallots on crostini. I am not a chicken liver person myself, but the waitress told us these are one of the few constants on the seasonally changing menu, by popular demand. They were consumed with gusto. The gnocchi had wonderful flavor and were nearly ethereal, in other words, perfect density. They came with surprisingly large chunks of shellfish, perfectly cooked. For our main courses, we selected pan seared sea scallops with sushi rice cake & sautéed vegetables in a bonito, dashi, kombu & coconut broth (we forgot to ask what kombu is); pan roasted magret duck breast with sautéed swiss chard, butter braised radishes, chana dal & wild rice pilaf; and red wine braised beef short ribs with braising jus, mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts with caramelized onions. Each was succulent and delicious. We all left completely empty plates, which we cleaned with crusty bread. There is an interesting selection of wines from across the globe at fair prices. We shared a bottle of Guigal Gigondas, for about $70, which was very good. For dessert we selected apple & pear crisp with crème fraîche gelato, which was warm and very nice on a chilly evening, and pumpkin panna cotta with whipped cream & vanilla bean syrup, which was original and an interesting and satisfying combination of flavors; sweet but not too sweet. Another home run. I think that, with one sad exception, Kansas City Restaurant week proves we have developed a real dining culture in this town, in which Kansas Citians can take genuine pride and pleasure. Room 39 takes its place among the best. We are looking forward to returning, and, again, salute this restaurant for providing this experience and for supporting Harvesters.

Our hostess was so accommodating - we walked in early this evening with no reservation and were simply asked if we could enjoy a dinner in an hour and a half. The atmosphere was delightful, with Diana Krall playing in the background. Our waiter, James, recommended the trout which was outstanding. My tablemates had drinks with egg whites which they both enjoyed. James was so personable and when I said I'd like a cup of coffee but didn't want to overstay our welcome, he brought the coffee. We were never rushed and had a relaxing and enjoyable dinner. Will definitely go back there again - food was so fresh and service was just right!

Went here for my mom's birthday for dinner, figured we try something different than the Melting Pot which we usually go to every year. The service was great and the ambiance was perfect. Love the modern art and the colors of the wall. Our server was very friendly and knew a lot about the food and the menu. We got the four courses for $39 which gives you a salad or soup, appetizer of your choice (some do have an up-charge like the foie gras), main plate, and dessert. Everything was prepared really well and fresh. I'm going to be honest though, I wasn't thoroughly impressed with the food. I mean it was good, it just didn't have me hopping out of my seat... that is until the dessert came out. OMG, those goat cheese beignets were heaven in my mouth... it was like making love, but eating amazing food instead... does that make sense? I'm salivating just thinking about it. My mom ordered the australian bass as the main and it was a tad bit dry. I think they really do try here, everything here is grade-A ingredients, just maybe the way it was prepared wasn't the best? I'm not sure but I give them an A for effort and a B- for the actual taste of the food.. If you are looking for a great date spot to impress your other half, or what ever that person may be, I would definetely recommend this place. (Sorry if this review jumps around, those goat cheese beignets got my mind boggled.) Oh yeah, carolers suprised the whole restaurant. Very cute.

Finally the perfect brunch/lunch place I can really get behind when I'm traveling for work. Good quality and very good service. Nice selection and fresh/local when possible ingredients. I had a fritatta and it was outstanding. It's so unassuming tucked in a strip of restaurants, don't miss it.

Breakfast only review: This is the breakfast place I frequent mainly because it is close to where I live. It has very few competitors for breakfast in the area. I have only found Urban Table and Le Peep for breakfast in Overland Park. If there are other places, I would love to know. I have tried the location of Room 39 in Kansas City and the one here. I like that the one in Kansas City offers "Oven Eggs" whereas I can't get that at the location in Mission Farms. What I do like a lot here is their Bacon and Hash offering that is a bit newer. I also like the salmon scramble. Their goat cheese pancakes are okay but not amazing. I did not like their french toast and even the waitress suggested against it. How do you not make brioche french toast well? I am not a cook myself but can make brioche french toast taste phenomenal. It is all about the brioche. Bloom Bakery has some amazing brioche if you want to try at home. I have had a chicken salad sandwich here once that was excellent. I will keep coming back, but I wish I could get more excited about their food. I guess I am wanting to find another place like You Say Tomatoes in Overland Park and keep getting disappointed. My goal is to try this place for dinner to be more fair and then I will update this review.

Great place to spend Friday night with good friends. I think that the restuarant should have a 3 $$$ rating rather than the 2 $$ that it has as we spend about $300.00 with out a bottle of wine but.. the service was fantastic and the food was good.

My mother doesn't drive downtown, so for her birthday this year I was looking for a nice place to take her on the south side of the metro. Always trusting my fellow Yelpers, I saw a large number of positive reviews for Room 39. I called and booked a 5:45 reservation for Wed 10/3. I arrived about 15 minutes early and took a seat at the bar for my usual - a gin and tonic. I was pleased to see the bar stocked with many top-shelf options, though being Mission Farms I shouldn't have expected anything less. A review of the menu showed me that Room 39 prides itself first and foremost on the quality of their ingredients. In fact, the first quarter of the menu is dedicated to the local Kansas and Missouri farms providing all of the produce which instantly drew me in. Our server Effie, who was excellent in both service and knowledge of the wine and menu options, helped steer my mom towards a white wine that would pair well with the Sea Scallops she ordered. I stuck with my gin and decided to order the 8oz beef tenderloin with porcine demi glace. Turnaround on our order was pleasantly quick. As the entrees came out, we were also each served a shot glass of a warm eggplant broth with a few drops of some kind of oil I couldn't place on the top. It was a strange thing to have served before the meal, but it had a light flavor that probably served its purpose as a palate cleanser. Here's where we can get into the good stuff - my filet was cooked perfectly to order (medium rare) and was quite possibly the most tender beef tenderloin I've ever been served. It came served on a row of fresh local green beans and some of the lightest whipped potatoes I can remember tasting. My mother's four scallops were absolutely gargantuan. I know from experience that scallops that large can be difficult to cook well but these were perfect; seared on the outside, cooked through, but tender enough to instantly give way just under pressure from your fork. They also came with a curry paste and crushed peanut garnish on the side which added both texture and flavor to the dish. My biggest worry in restaurants like this is over-complicated dishes and strong flavors that take away from the real star - the meats and vegetables themselves. The executive chef at Room 39, Brandon Winn, understands completely that his ingredients are his stars and he backs them up with perfect flavor combinations and expert (but simple) preparations. For dessert, my mom ordered three goat cheese beignets and I had a local honey panna cotta. Both were impressive, though to me the entrees were the real stars. In closing, Room 39 is four star dining the way I like to see it. The smaller venue means that unlike your 'chain' four star restaurants, which are "fancy food conveyor belts", Chef Winn can focus on each dish and give it the care it deserves. I have also found out that he opens his kitchen to local chef trainees and is already passing along his skills to them, which is very awesome to hear. The prices put Room 39 firmly into the 'special occasion' category for me, but I'd strongly recommend it to anyone who wants to see the kind of quality you can get from fresh local produce and a chef who knows how to maximize returns on it.

After having a perfect night last night at Room 39, I thought I would write an update. We got a beet, chorizo, and goat cheese amuse bouche brought to us. Husband got Ribeye. I got duck. We each started out with a salad and opted to get the morel mushroom appetizer. It was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. Sliced morels, onions, pecans in its own mushroomy broth, I was trying to discretely and politely use the bread to sop up every bit of that broth once the morels were gone. It was So good. Our entrees were both outstanding. We got lemon panna cotta for dessert which was also sensational. Our biggest issue last time was the server, who wasn't that friendly, which made it so that I couldn't give a perfect 5 to Room 39. Our server this time was great. She was very attentive, and even the manager kept coming over to see how we enjoyed each course. An altogether perfect evening. Perfectly delicious.

First thing people need to understand is that the menu here at their Mission Farms location is not the same as the 39th Street Location. Things do differ, so check their website before you choose which location to go go. That being said, the Mission Farms location is the bigger of the two. While 39th doesn't have a large kitchen, bar, or dining room, this location does. The food is always fresh, well prepared, and well presented. I do particularly love the patio as they allow dogs to come lay outside with you. We do brunch here on the weekends when the weather is nice and they are always very hospitable to my dog; they even bring him out a bowl of water. Great local restaurant!

We had our anniversary dinner there last night and the meal was great. My duck was cooked perfectly; her grouper the same. I regret that I tried to sell them a year+ old Groupon (bad memory, my mistake) and argued when they only credited the amount I paid. My apologies. We'll be back!

I'd heard great things about Room 39 breakfast and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered the Brioche French Toast. It was everything I hoped it would be. I saw another reviewer who said he didn't recommend it. If you are looking for "traditional" French toast it may be a surprise. I personally like more dry, firm french toast. It's almost like a pound cake texture. It had great flavor and texture. Everyone else in my party also loved their food. Others ordered the Omelette Florentine and Bacon Hash. Both were excellent. The service was friendly and prompt. I definitely plan on returning.

I went to Room 39 last year, so forgive me if my memory is poor! I do remember going there, and wondering why anyone had brought their kids there. This is a very sedate, borderline fancy restaurant. The kids were well behaved, I just wouldn't have taken my ankle-biters there. There seemed to be a pre-ponderance of older couples there, but maybe we just ate early in the evening. I think Rm39 would be a great place to take a date or a non-wallet breaking place for an anniversary. The food was excellent, and the menu is constantly changing. The ingredients used were very fresh, as I believe it is all (or at least a great majority of it) is locally grown. The portion sizes are appropriate, which is refreshing for the usual gluttonous amounts of food we are served. Sometimes when the food is this good, you need a little help to keep from over-eating. ;-) The service was superior, which seems to not always be the case judging from others' reviews. We had a couple of glasses of vino each, and the waiter's suggestions were spot on and complimented our meals nicely. I'd encourage anyone to try Room39 if they want something a little unique and satisfying.

Chefs are amazing. If you are a foodie this is a must try. Great service nice atmosphere. Duck is cooked perfect. Only local farmers are used so all is fresh.

OMG- we love this place. I can get a great veg plate while J (aka Mr. Cuteness) can have the naughty stuff. Jared is the best bartender in KC. He knows his wines and mixes a mean cocktail. Don't come here, because we want it all all to ourselves.

My mom and I go to this location for brunch or lunch a few times a month on average. We've always had attentive service and the food is almost always good. There are occasional lapses, like the time I was served greasy potatoes. They do a good job of following specific orders. When I order a burger medium rare, it's actually juicy and red in the center, and the meat is well seasoned and flavorful. When my mom asks for her veggie burger crispy, it's well cooked. Of note, they make some really tasty salad combos, frequently with roasted nuts, delicious cheeses, and fresh fruit. The rosemary bread is Farm to Market, and always fresh, accompanied by Shatto butter. We like brunch, too, as they do a great job with local Campo Lindo eggs. (I don't understand the person who says they've had better at First Watch. FW isn't even on the same level!) The toast is made from Farm to Market bread, and they're generous on the sides. I also like that they have Harney teas for my mom, and some of the best coffee in town--strong and smooth. Highly recommended, if a little quirky from time to time, the servers will take care of any glitches.

First time here and it won't be the last. Just had brunch. Food was great. Not overly large portions and priced about right. The service was fantastic. My water glass never got below half empty before it was refilled. The ambiance was OK. Nice decor. I had the Juevos Rancheros while my wife had the Frittata.

Good food and perfect place for a group. They have a large back room with many big tables. They also do special events and buffet-style lunches for groups.

Went there on a Saturday for brunch with the whole family to celebrate Momma's day a bit early. Mom's a big fan of the place, which normally is a decent indicator of it's awesome-ness. I was expecting something unique and memorable. Instead, I left thinking, "Meh". The food was ok, some interesting combinations on the menu, but nothing truly spectacular or that lept off the page at me. Tried the spinach omelet with breakfast potatoes and an english muffin, split it with the misses. Also tried to order a side of a fruit bowl, but like most un-spectacular restaurants fruit bowl=melon chunks with a grape thrown in. No thank you. The omelet wasn't bad, but, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, wasn't amazing either. I've had better at First Watch. Now, the wait staff. They started off strong with a male-female combo(we were a group of 6) that immediately took our drink orders and we thought we were in good hands. Imagine our surprise when Flo, straight from the 50's diner approached our table and immediately asked what we'd like to drink. Thus began one of the weirdest waiting experiences I've had in which we continually floated back and forth between a great waitress and waiter, and Flo, complete with grumpy attitude because, "I just found out I have to be here until 4:30 this afternoon!". Sorry, not my problem, would just like my drinks refilled and my food still hot when brought to my table, please and thank you. Decor was "Eh" as well. Some attempts to be down-homey and quaint, which is hard to pull off in a freshly constructed building in one of the richest areas of Kansas City. I wouldn't race to go get a meal there again, but I probably wouldn't turn down an invitation there either. Just decent. Cross your fingers you get the good waiter.

I had the croque madame which is essentially a ham and guyere sandwich with eggs on top. I thought it was good but it didn't blow me away. She had a steak and eggs dish and the steak was almost raw in certain spots, which wasn't pleasing. I've been here several times though and typically find it good. They bring you a constant and endless supply of coffee and had real cream which is my preference to the artificial junk.

We will be coming back. Wonderful breakfast and great service. Loved my Florentine Omelet, but think I will have to try the Bacon Hash. I tried my daughter's Bacon Hash, and it was outrageously good! Coffee is great and comes with real cream. Love the outdoor seating.

Room 39 is a small organic-style restaurant located in Mission Farms in Leawood, KS. The inside is small and quaint with a full bar to right when you walk in. The patio out front makes for a refreshing dining option if the weather permits. The walls are adorned with soothing paintings and mock exposed brick. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, and the veggie burger I had was fantastic. I overheard someone saying that it had been voted the best veggie burger in Kansas City. I also had some flan for desert and was not disappointed. The menu prices were comparable to that of other organic-style restaurant's in KC, like the Blue Bird bistro. The food is a little on the light side, so I would definitely recommend this place for lunch rather than dinner.

My wife and I have found our new favorite restaurant in "Room 39" in Leawood. We were warmly greeted when we arrived at the restaurant and quickly taken to our table. We were surprised when we came upon a coworker of mine and his wife when the hostess was leading us to our table. We told them that it was our first time visiting the restaurant and they responded that it is one of their favorite places to dine in the city. We both opted for the four course pre-fix menu for $39 per person. That may seem high at first, but its actually a great deal when you consider that the entree I was considering (The duck breast) is listed on the menu for $26, so by spending just $13 more, I was able to add a salad, appetizer and dessert, all of which were fantastic. My wife and I ordered different options from each of the courses and were amazed by the creative and flavorable combinations the chef prepared. We had no pre-conceived notions about what to expect on this outing as we had not spoken to anyone who had eaten at Room 39 before. That made our experience all the more surprising and pleasurable. We plan to tell our friends and fellow 'foodies' about this Kansas City gem. I cannot recommend Room 39 enough, and I look forward to trying out their original location on 39th Street. This place is top notch.

Room 39 was elegant, quiet, and a great place for a romantic dinner. It definitely felt like their target demographic is older people.

First time eating there. Hoping to breakfast in Leawood during the week but made may over to their original location. Great courteous professional staff. The Salmon Scramble was delicious... Would definitely do it again...

Does not at all compare to the original on 39th street. I go to room 39 frequently for lattes, which are the best I've ever had. My latte out in leawood was bitter, scalding hot and made with skim milk when I asked for whole. I was really disappointed. plus, our waiter was really fake happy in a way that made me uncomfortable.

Went for lunch. Good value. Had the Shepard's Pie which was one of the best I've ever had (and I'm from England). The staff was friendly. Only minor negative is that I wish the service was just a little quicker as it was a lunch service. Will certainly go again when I'm in the area.

We decided to try Room 39 as part of KC Magazine's burger wars. I must say I have had a better burger at Chili's or Johnny's. Their beef is supposedly from McGonigle's. I have bought their meat and I don't believe this meat came from that shop. Within an hour I felt ill. We honestly thought we had old beef or something. I was also not a fan of the chicken enchilada soup. It just tasted weird to me. We waited several minutes for service and were never sure who our server was. The people were nice, but I highly doubt I ever go back. I just wasn't impressed.

Really consistently good food. Oasis for foodies in an area dominated by chain restaurants.

Went to Room 39 @ Mission Farms for lunch last week. My husband and I had been meaning to go there for months and 'Check Please!' sealed the deal. While the ambiance of the restaurant was really inviting-the food went from 'great' to 'really?'....what i mean by that is that we started with the Fried Green Tomato appetizer which was great. Succulent tomatoes with a expertly seasoned cornmeal crust. The accompaniment was a red pepper aioli, which I felt was lacking in depth of flavor, and I did not think it was the best choice to be served with the tomatoes, but that's just my opinion. My husband and I both ordered the Veggie Burger, mine with cheese-his without. It took a long time to receive our order. Our meal was served by someone other than our primary server, they dropped the plates and ran. I noticed immediately after the food runner's departure that my bun was charred (not merely grilled) and that my Veggie Burger was definitely crispy around the edges. Also to my dismay, the red pepper aioli was back... When I tried the fries, I noticed they were cold. (This was a huge deal to me, as I rarely indulge in french fries, and I was looking forward to eating them) I went ahead complied my fresh from the farm condiments, (great 'room made' pickles) and took a bite. Our server never came back to check on us (major pet peeve!) even though she passed our table several times... I am not the type to create a scene so I just pulled off the burnt pieces and ate about half the burger. We we were waiting to ask for our check (pet peeve #2) the catering manager/hostess stopped by to ask how we enjoyed our meal. I mentioned that our meals were not up to par. She examined the charred remains on my plate and offered to comp our meal. We declined-but accepted a certificate for two free veggie burgers in the future. I hope to give a better rating on our second visit! Since I do not care for the taste of charcoal, the burger was not very good. My husband's burger was

Always good. Fresh. Local! Nice for a dressed up romantic dinner or a quick casual lunch with the girlfriends. Very attentive servers. Menu changes frequently to incorporate fresh ingredients! Also, a very fair corkage fee if you want to bring your own wine!

While visiting my girlfriend in KC we had an excellent experience at Room 39 for dinner. She took the recommendation of a coworker and grabbed a great special off of living social. From the get go we were very impressed. She set a reservation (I would say this is a good idea if you plan on eating around 8 on a Saturday) and upon entering we were greeted by one of the most helpful and friendly hosts I have ever seen in a restaurant. Not only was she friendly but she put some effort into our experience which is something you don't always see. This set the tone as it seemed all members of their FOH staff worked seamlessly while delivering food, clearing tables, and helping each other out in general. My girlfriend grabbed a quick glass of wine from a great bartender and we were seated shortly thereafter. After being promptly greeted by our extremely knowledgeable and helpful server we decided on what has to be their most popular menu deal; the choose 4. All of the options were delicious and the main course was my favorite (I had the filet, cooked to a perfect mid rare). The lava cake knocked my gf's socks off and had to be her favorite course. I'm not a huge fan of the strip mall type setting that seem to be fairly common in the area but their menu, service, and creativity make Room 39 one of the better experiences you could have in the KC area. We'll be back, a lot.
