Just west of horrific. This particular Gordon Biersch needs some loving management attention from California. The food was carelessly assembled and entirely lack luster. Not representative of its West Coast siblings at all. The only shining star was the beer, which was as delicious as ever. Order the Marzen, avoid the food menu. Did disappoint. Strongly.

This is Leawood's version of the brew-chain and it looks and feels a lot like its sister location in the Power and Light District. The main difference is there's a huge parking garage near this location where as you can park in Power and Light, but it's usually just a big hassle. But alas, more about this location. It features a pretty nice little patio where I would love to hang out for happy hour after work if I worked in the area. Unfortunately for us we dined on a notoriously humid Kansas City evening so we went inside to enjoy the air conditioning. The menu is just like the other locations and features your normal dishes... pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and some steak / fish dishes as well. They're all decent items however I do think they're priced a couple of dollars higher than their quality. The gentleman taking care of us did an adequate job, but it did take a while for our appetizer and dinners to arrive. The dining room was only about half full so I'm not sure what the hold up was, but when did receive our food it tasted good. One small note, they serve garlic fries as a base so if you do not ask for regular fries as a side you will get garlic. They're not bad, but they do have a strong aftertaste. If you're into it you will love it, but if you're not you might want to let your server know. I'm glad we stopped at Gordon Biersch when we did, but I'm not sure if it's a strong enough place to become a destination restaurant.

*Disclaimer: This review is based on the beers that are brewed here and not the food. I had an hour to kill and decide to drink the time away at Gordon Biersch. So I bellied up the bar a scanned the beer list and selected the SommerBrau, kolsch style with a light citrus character. Sounds delicious right? Well it missed the mark for me, this beer was not crisp and clean which a kolsch is known for and had an odd aftertaste. The citrus in the beer was pleasant though. Next up was the Midwest IPA, pale ale with generous amounts of magnum, cascade and Amarillo hops. Again great write up, terrible execution. Mediocre IPA at best. Maybe it was a little old because the hop aroma I am used to from Amarillo & cascade hops were not present. Still this was probably the best beer I had while visiting GB. Finally I decided I better go for the beer this place claims to be an authority on and that is German styles. Nothing is more German than the Oktoberfest/Marzen, so I ordered one. This is by far the worst Marzen I have ever tasted. Weird soapy flavor that dominated my palette. Not sure if the glass was soapy but I watched the bartender rinse it so I don't think so. After about halfway through my pint I called for my check and left, never to return again.

They are famous for the garlic fries and they were delicious. I had fish and chips. The fish could have had more seasoning to the batter but when I added salt it was good. Jeremy thought his burger wasn't too bad. Definitely try those garlic fries if you are here.

Worst service I've ever experienced at this restaurant tonight. I was a frequent customer until tonight I will be taking a long break from this establishment, if I do return. We found a seat in the bar area. A waitress came by and dropped off two menus and never came back. Never took our drink order, appetizers, or anything. I ordered a beer from the bar and the bartender was a bit snippy as well with me. Over the next 15-20 minutes I said "I think we are at the invisible table." Because every waiter and waitress that walked by never even looked up at us. WE DIDN'T EXIST! Certainly learned that our work Happy Hours will be moving to another restaurant from here on out.

A great place for lunch. My wife and I had the bacon grill cheese with sweet potato fries and the turkey garden burger with garlic fries. Food was good and service was fine. The beer was on point.

I went a few weeks ago and I was extremely upset with my service. Very slow and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Food was extremely overpriced, I got the crab cake meal and it was $30 for 2 crab cakes and nothing else just some coleslaw as the side. It tasted good but not worth $30. Somethings on the menu changed too. Overall not worth the price and bad service. Server was nice. I WENT TO THE POWER AND LIGHT LOCATION (app not allowing to change location)

Jennifer did an outstanding job taking care of our family! She was knowledgeable about the menu items and beer, as well as very personable and customer-focused. Matter of fact, the entire team was very attentive. I am not exaggerating when I say that about six team members stopped by to say hello, check on us, serve or clear our table. The manager, Brendan, helped deliver the meal, as well as discuss new beer flavors (he always does a great job)! While discussing new beers, he offered us some samples to compare. GB always offers a great time of "getting away." I felt like I was home. My Czech Pilzner just does that to me. Being back was such a welcome delight and we will return soons

It's elevated bar food at best. Service is always attentive, but never impressive. I don't fault these guys for what they are, but just go in expecting middle of the road fare.

I'm a big fan of all the Gordon Biersch brewpubs. They have great food and great beer. Don't let it fool you because it's a chain, it's very similar to Rock Bottom in my opinion, but with better beer. When I came to the Leawood location I tried their IPA and Golden Export and neither disappointed! Great atmosphere, beautiful outdoor patio, and you have Park Place around you! Can't get much better than that in my opnion....Ok maybe Power & Lights!

I am a bad German. I love some German foods, but rarely visit any of the fine German restaurants our city has. Being I am not a fan of the P&L district, GB was way off the radar. A friend suggested eating there after an event. It was later in the evening on a weeknight so the douche crowd was gone from the P&L and the overall experience was good. We shared a few of the appetizers/small plates. The filet sliders were delicious, but the bun overwhelmed the filet a bit. A larger piece of filet would be perfect. The filet was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The best part of the dish were the super thin fried onions. We also had the goat cheese bruschetta which was fantastic. The goat cheese was nice and creamy with great taste. The walnuts and arugula made a nice accompaniment all piled on the flat bread. The final dish we had was the baja tacos. Surprisingly this was the star of the things we tried. The mahi was cooked perfectly, moist and delicious. We finished with a fantastic bread pudding that had something most bread puddings lack, alcohol. Over all the food was good and I would like to return and try the brats, but the overall menu doesn't really scream German as the place might imply. The service was friendly, although a bit inept. While my dining buddy was in the restroom after we were first seated (by our waitress) the waitress came over twice, once asking about drinks and again asking if I knew what we wanted. I had told her the first time my friend was in the restroom and I didn't know on the drink, plus she knew there were two of us. Just weird. The rest of the time there was the same, just really off with the general cues a waitress would have. The place is really dark too. I had a hard time reading the menu because the light was so bad. Overall it is a good experience, but I doubt I would rush back. The menu is typical bar fare that I can get at a lot of places so nothing to really draw me in.

Very impressed with grilled chicken! Major yum! Stayed at the Aloft next door, as I usually do, but this place just recently opened. Had a grilled chicken salad and a couple of glasses of wine and really enjoyed it. Service was prompt and mid-western friendly. Very homey place. I can imagine this place is a lot of fun during happy hour.

Glad to report I've been upgraded to "Yay! I'm a fan" It's true. Returned last night for a late night date with the hubs, sat at one of the cozy elevated booths in the dining area this time. Service was really great. The guy gave seriously good advice. Loved the artisan grilled cheese & cblt sandwiches. They were hot, crispy and tasty. Special mention goes to the bacon, thick and crispy. But the off-menu seasonal pumpkin cheesecake was what really pushed this place up to that 4th star. We're talking a massive wedge of cheesecake. Soft, fluffy almost mouse-like cheesecake topped with sour cream layer and decorated and presented in all its glory. Great flavor, great texture, rich but also light... yum! My compliments to the chef! We will be back again. You've won me over Gordon B.

Really enjoyed the food here! I had a HUGE salad with shrimp and lobster and it was wonderful, I couldn't ask for more. It was $12 too which was totally reasonable and two meals for me. Would totally go back here, great food.

Inconsistent food and the bathrooms were a mess. We stopped in for dinner before catching a show and expected the typical quality we've experienced at other Gordon Biersch Breweries in other cities. We were very disappointed with this location. The food was lackluster at best with little flavor. The wait staff were attentive to a fault, we felt rushed and it seemed they were more interested in turning our table than waiting on us. My wife and I both made trips to the restroom and the soap dispensers were empty in both bathrooms and the toilet paper dispensers were empty in the ladies room. We promptly reported this to our waiter, but she didn't seem too concerned. It will be a while before we try Gordon Biersch again.

I have eaten at both locations, the one in Power & Light and the one here in Leawood. The first time I ordered the southern egg rolls and about 5 mojitos! I enjoyed the food and they drinks very much. My father had ordered the lobster Mac n Cheese so naturally I stole a bite... Let's just say at the time I remember thinking it was the most amazing thing I had ever tasted! Once I discovered that there was a Leawood location I was dying to go and order the Lobster Mac n Cheese for myself, so I convinced a friend to come with me... I was more than disappointed with my food. Yes it was good, but it wasn't great, amazing, best thing I'd ever tasted... So I'm not sure if this location's version is different or the chef that night was off, and maybe I was a little more than tipsy the first time and just thought the entree was more amazing than it was, but I remember EVERYONE at the table saying how good it was. I wish I knew because I sure would like to taste the amazingness that was that entree that night again!! Overall I would just say that the restaurant isn't consistent. But the food is still good and staff is very friendly.

Had a fabulous time here! I am gluten free and they did provide me with a menu. There werent a lot of options but I tried the Mediterranean chicken. it was delicious!! Chicken was perfectly cooked, the bruschetta tomatoes were well soaked in balsamic, and the asparagus was grilled to perfection. My server was very attentive, checked on us multiple times, and was quick when she realized we needed to get back to work. i will be back!

I've seen these places in airports across the country, but this was the first one I've been to without TSA working the door. There's really nothing special going on here - it's like a Hoolihan's or Bennigan's, maybe a little nicer, and with their own beer. It's got a nice patio, and the bar area is good for meeting a group of people after work. The area's a good place to hang out on a nice evening, but I can't see going out of my way to come here. I've had their pulled pork sliders - pretty good with the apple slaw. The ahi tuna salad I've had twice is a let down with super thin slices of ahi that have seen better days. The salad was also too heavily dressed both times. Service is good, scene is good. Parking isn't as convenient as it can be at other Leawood/OP locales, but it's not a pain either. BBQ flatbread was good. Burger was okay, and fries (requested well done) were very good.

The service was absolutely crap. If they thought that the service that was provided for us was good, then that is ridiculous. We had to track down random wait staff from other areas to ask for refills or to order. We sat out on the patio for a bit since it was nice out, and thank goodness for the fresh breeze and scenery, because that was all that we had to accompany us. From the 2 hours that we sat outside, our waiter came by just two times. Once to take my order, and once to deliver my ticket. I had mentioned to her that I would be ordering a drink other than water in the near future, but she never checked back in with me. The evening brought some chilly winds so we moved ourselves inside and closed our tabs with waiter #1. We waited for 20 minutes for a another waiter to take our drink orders inside, and gave up when no one showed. We asked the bartender to open up a tab for us, and he promised to fetch a wait staff to come to our table. A different waiter stopped by and said "Oh, how long have you guys been here? I haven't seen you.." Oh really? Well how long have YOU been around because we haven't seen YOU. She stated she would return after delivering food to another table of hers, but she never did. We ended up ordering from the bartender, who hand delivered our drinks to us and hand delivered our tabs to us as well. Thank you Mr Bartender, you were really the only person invested in serving us that night..

Nice facility but I am about the food. I ordered their beer bbq sauce burger. Dry and flavorless. Happy I wasn't paying the check. I would pass on this place if given the choice again.

Good food. Lackadaisical service. Needs cleaning. Went to Gordon Biersch today for a quick lunch - been hear numerous times before. Found out they had discontinued the Bloody Mary bar and that a couple of our favorites (potstickers and the steak tacos) had been removed from the menu. We probably should have left then. Sat at bar and bartender didn't seem all that interested in waiting on us. Especially since she and the manager (assuming) were playing Cards Against Humanity with other workers in a booth not far from bar. Had to ask for virtually everything (water, plates, service) during our lunch. Additionally the lights hanging above our food on the bar were covered with visible dust/dirt. On the plus side the the crab/artichoke dip and BBQ chicken pizza were very good. Probably our last trip to this location of GB.

I got the surf and turf burger, which is a burger w/ lobster in it too...OMG it's soo good. You need to go try it. I'd give this a 5 start if it was just based on my food but whatever my husband got was just ok. It wasn't bad, but it did not compair to the burger I had. My kids had the mac and cheese kids meal, it was $5 for less than half a box of kraft mac and cheese and some mashed potatoes. It's ok though, my kids like kraft lol. Our waitress was great and she was the one that suggested my burger! Happy and will recommend this place to friends :)

What a fun place to people watch and go for a HH. From 4-7pm, there are $5 specialty cocktails, $5 beers, as well as food items ranging from $5, $7, to even $11 combo apps (3 different items). I had a Long Island and the Ultimate Arnold Palmer - both were terrific. Service was a bit slow but when they were attentive, they were great. I'll be back! PS - they also have reverse HH from 10pm-close!

Food was good but service was bad. The place was almost empty yet we had to stand up to get our servers attention - twice. Then had to flag him to get the bill.

My girlfriend and I have been hearing about Gordon Biersch for a while from friends so we decided to try it out last night. We sat on their outside patio that faced the hotel next door. It was a very busy restaurant in that the patio was full; however, a waiter told us about a table that was getting their checks and would be getting up shortly. He offered us a beer as we waited. Once we were seated he informed us he would be taking care of us. He offered us one of their great beer flights since it was our first time, and recommended the "Crab Artichoke Dip" to start and the mind-blowing "Fish Tacos" for my entree. Everything was great! Curtis did an outstanding job, and the food turned out really delicious. We're considering going back tonight for dinner. Thanks Gordon Biersch.

I would not recommend this restaurant, there are too many good places to eat at Town Center to waste your time or money at this establishment. I went today with my family, there were 3 of us and the bill was over $100.00, which is fine if you get what you paid for. I was totally disappointed on the service, food and drinks. My meal was cold when I received it so I did not eat it, the drinks were full of ice, no liquid. The waitress did not come around again till my family were done with their meals. I told her about my meal and she said ok sorry, did I want something else. I wouldn't of gotten anything else we had already waited over 30 min for our food. She then gave me the bill and that was it. Its disappointing to get something that you though would be so good and pay for it and not eat it. I guess they feel they have enough business that if they lose a customer, "oh well". I would not recommend this restaurant, go to the better restaurants in the area.

Snuck in for a late night bite after a movie at Town Center. We have been to the location downtown and have always had good food, drinks and service. It was a completely different story at this location. Our server was attentive at the beginning of our evening, but once our meal was served she was out of sight. I can't blame her for disappearing; it kept her from having to deal with our dissatisfaction with our dinner. I had the chopped salad, which was not at all what I expected...nothing was even remotely chopped! Huge pieces of romaine, a scant bit of the other ingredients listed on the menu description and about four pieces of chicken. I can't imagine a salad being so disappointing, but believe me it was! My hubby ordered a cheeseburger, which was served on a very nondescript bun, that was bordering stale. With awesome local bakeries like Farm to Market, there is no excuse for a boring, stale burger bun. The burger was flavorless, overcooked and served with shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes...not good. The sweet potato fries (for $1.00 up charge) were okay, but not great. Our friends had a flatbread and a Mahi sandwich. The flatbread was served on what looked like a tortilla shell, and was ok. The Mahi sandwich was served on the same type bun as the burger; no thanks! The best part of the meal were the chips served with blue cheese that my friend ordered with her fish sandwich. A disappointing evening to say the least. Too many other choices in walking distance from the theater to bring us back for the food. The patio does look inviting, if we ever get to enjoy warmer weather here in KC! And the beer is what got the evening to get at least two stars!

If you are hungry, don't get the ahi tuna salad. It comes with 5 pieces of thinly sliced tuna the size of a quarter and a couple of lettuce leaves they call a salad. More like a garnish. At least warn your patrons that it is tiny. A rip off for $14.50. It did taste good, just wish I would have gotten what I paid for. The waiter asked his manager to come by, but she did not. Probably a corporate issue anyway.

Disclaimer: I went to a preview "before the grand opening" party, so of course, your mileage may vary. Having said that -- the place is pretty impressive. It's big enough to where they can host a few hundred people without having a major wait. The servers were on point (again, your mileage may vary), and the bartenders were knowledgeable and friendly. I tried the Hawaiian pizza and the garlic fries, and was pretty pleased with both. Others in the party tried the Kobe beef sliders and the wings - and those also got decent reviews. This brewpub is also known for the beer; while I didn't have any, had no complaints about the brew. It does fall into the trap of being a chain restaurant (their second location in KC), and it is in a development chock full of them. And... compared to other places in the general area, it's a bit pricey. Does that make it BAD? Nah -- it's not a place I'd go out of my way for, but I wouldn't object to stopping by at all.

Gordon Biersch is a great place for a happy hour or an afternoon of drinking beer... It is an OK place but not a great place for lunch or dinner... The food isn't bad, it's in the "corporate chainy" genre of restaurants that offers everything from tacos to seafood to burgers to steaks... Not quite a Cheesecake Factory-sized menu but the menu at Gordon Biersch covers a lot of ground. Jack of all trades, master of none would be my take on the offerings at GB. That said, I had lunch here with an eclectic group of 12 business travelers from around the world. They all found something they liked and I heard few complaints about the food. About half of the group was traveling from the UK to the States for the 1st time which made for some interesting conversation about the food. A few highlights: Ahi Tuna dusted with Chili Flakes - Interesting and tasty. Lobster Tacos with Black Beans/Rice - Very popular choice for the Brits and they all thought the dish was very tasty. I guess they don't have black beans in the UK. A good portion of the early conversation was around the possibility of the kitchen dying the beans black for some reason or another... I told them that black beans are pretty common here and not to worry! :-D Calamari - Better than most Steak Tacos - OK but not great... Burgers - Several folks got the burgers and were very happy. The Brits were quite upset about the garlic/parsley mixture on the fries. The sentiment is that there is no reason to spoil a perfectly good "Chip" by putting a bunch of "Italian Nonsense" on it... I'll definitely be back for a beer soaked afternoon or a happy hour, I probably won't be back for lunch or dinner...

I went with my husband for a "date night" . . . we had a gift card. The service was great, and the space is nice and roomy. We got the Crab & Artichoke Dip and it was the best thing of our meal in my opinion. I got the lobster mac n' cheese . . . and was VERY disappointed. It was more like "fishy lobster alfredo" . . . my husbands dinner was not terribly impressive either. I think this place is best for appetizers, burgers and beer . . . and also check out their happy hour, pretty good choices. Great great service though!

This past weekend, I was in Kansas City visiting my parents and friends. After doing some shopping, my mom and I stumbled upon Gordon Biersch. My friend had recommended it a long time ago, but I had not yet been able to make it there. The server asked us if we had been there before. I love when servers ask me this provided that they are actually going to tell me something when/if I say no. Well, our server was very kind and told us some interesting facts about the microbrewery and was quick to offer food suggestions. I had a sandwich and salad combo and my mom had the spring chicken plate with watercress sauce. I have to admit hers was better than mine, but I did get kind of a boring dish. It was fine, just not spectacular. I will be back and next time look forward to trying something different.

A note to start off this review: the beer at this place is a 5 star, and easily the best thing about this place. Now that we have that out of the way, we can get into the not so pleasant part of the review. I can honestly say that I'm disappointed in this place, because it's not big enough of a chain place to have a lower quality of food than Applebee's. At first I thought that the staff here was fantastic with, everyone from the manger who seating my wife and I, to our waitress. Our waitress was very helpful in deciding what we should get, and was on top of every need we had. Then the shift changed mid meal and our new server arrived. She made only two appearances, when she came in to the store, and when she handed me my receipt. She didn't even bother to bring the check, and had someone else bring it out. The wait for our food was reasonable, and gave me time to enjoy my tasty beer. The food itself was blah... not just for what it cost, but in general. I had the Surf and Turf Burger (10oz burger with Lobster)with the Garlic Fries. The burger was mediocre, and the lobster was non existent in taste/on the burger. The real thing is that I've had better burgers at Wendy's, and those weren't $15 either ($4 more than the delicious Inside Out burger from Blanc). The fries were better than the burger, and my fries tasted more like garlic lobster than my burger did. Almost just too much garlic, I couldn't even finish my meal... Ok, you may not know me, but I always finish my meals, always ( ok you caught me in a paradox, because I didn't this time.) Wow this has gotten carried away, to make a LONG story short: great beer, mediocre over priced food, hit or miss service, and a clean store.

Great service. The servers were funny and timely. Had the Kobe sliders and blackened ahi tacos all very good, although the tacos seemed a little bit cold. Also had Southwestern Egg Rolls, which were delicious. Highlight is the Hefeweizen. Also sampled the Schwarzbier. I'm a big fan of the Hefeweizen, probably one of my favorite beers, especially when locally brewed. Schwarzbier, although good, is a little dark for me. Overall, nice place. Can be a little crowded, especially at the bar. They will sample some beers if you are not familiar.

The place is pretty cool but, that's about it. Service is OK. Food is very average and really no different from the quality of a TGI Fridays, just higher prices.

If you want a TGIFriday's menu inserted into a "brewery," this is the place to go. Despite their massive menu, there just doesn't seem to be any sort of theme, or anything impressive. It all seems generic. The appetizers leave much to be desired. The happy hour martinis were mostly sweet and sour mix or a gallon of tonic. The house salad I ordered included three, yes three - spiced pecans. Really?

I feel horrible giving this place a bad review, but when it seems like every aspect does not make for a good experience I just have to be honest and tell it like it is. I really thought that this place was going to be a really good brewery style restaurant, and as I walked in I felt like it looks really nice, maybe this will be good. The manager greeted us at the hostess stand and took us to our table. She was a very nice lady and shortly after being sat our waitress came to take care of us. So, so far this seemed to be a great experience. However, as I was looking at the menu I began to get disappointed. They have a vary wide selection of food, and therefore in my mind not many places are able to produce good food from their extensive menues. So to look at the lighter side of food options I choose to get the Meditteranean chicken. When the food came I was extremely disappointed with both my food and my husbands. My husband had ordered the surf and turf burger. He really expected it to be very good and I also did too. I love that he always shares becasue he also let me try a bite and I was not pleased. I could not even taste the lobster and it was not even the best burger I had tasted. The garlic fries that came with it were also very disappointing. They tasted more like what his burger should have tasted like. My food was just as disappointing. I was just like a regular chicken breast with some partially melted cheese on it. The vegtables that come with it were pretty good, but I could have payed a lot less for the same flavor of vegtables at applebee's or something. This still did not complete one of the worst meals I have had. Halfway through our meal there was a shift switch, which is normally fine except we ended up with a horrible waitress. The first one was great but this one came to our table only twice, to be introduced ot us and when she finally brought our check. I believe the bus boy actually came and filled my water and bused our dish while she was just standing around in the background. This was just the icing on the cake for me to decided that I will not be returning to this restuaurant again, unless I am some how dragged in there.

Staying at the Aloft next door and they delivered to my room. Ordered the crab and lobster cakes entree and they were close to inedible-runny in the middle. I also got a side order of the garlic spinach and it was tasteless and floating in water. Wouldn't recommend. Maybe better when you dine in?

Good addition to Park Place. In my opinion, their salads and beer are the best menu options. Olive lemon vinaigrette is my favorite thing about this place, so I was excited when one opened up near my work. It's my all-time favorite salad dressing; I've even asked if I could purchase it to take home before (I was told no). I used to get the Seafood Cobb Salad, but I always end up with too much iceberg lettuce and not enough toppings. The toppings are good though - especially the crab! Their house salad is a decent size and includes spiced pecans and thick shredded cheese. I've tried a few of their entrees, but have been disappointed when I compare price/value vs. quality. The lobster and crab cake sandwich is good, but with tax it's almost $20 and seems a little high for a lunch sandwich. The Marzen beer is their most popular - a yummy Bavarian lager with a slightly sweet finish. I like to get the beer sampler at breweries, and Gordon Biersch is a fun one to get. Go to this place for the lemon dressing - I haven't found one in restaurants or stores that is near as good!

This was the second time I had been to GB. The first time was for a big family affair where the focus was more on the celebration at hand than on the food and service. Well, I dined here again tonight - five months later - and realized I should have paid more attention the first time around. The service was mediocre, at best. The waitress, although friendly and nice, knew nothing about the beers they served. Another wait staff came along shortly after my husband and I ordered those over priced Lay's potato chips with cheap cheese sauce on them and asked if we were finished with them...while there were still some on the plate and I was actually reaching for another one. Maybe he instinctively knew I should just stop there and end my pain and frustration. My husband and I are not big eaters and prefer to share a meal every time we dine out. Besides, in the good ol' USA portions are generally far too generous to even consider eating an entire entree alone....unless, of course, you are a contestant for "Man vs. Food." Well, it seems the dinner salads we ordered prior to the main attraction did not get the memo. Excuse me, but in what Universe is one charged $5.50 for three bites of lettuce, a few sprinkles of bacon and two pecans? Seriously, my cat eats off a plate bigger than this. (Well, I don't really have a cat, but it makes for a good analogy!) Talk about a 1000 % mark up (Note to self: consider opening a restaurant in Leawood. People are more than willing to take out a second mortgage to dine out and I could make a killing! I have kids to send to college. No, I am not unemployed. Yes, I have four years of college and four years of grad school under my belt and am a working professional and consider these prices criminal!) And, really???? Nearly $9.00 for a plate of chips slightly glazed with some obnoxious cheese sauce with a fancy name that somehow qualifies it for the ridiculous price? I should have just consumed a snack bag of chips before leaving home. (Price: $0.25 and Cheez Whiz would have been far more satisfying.) So, so disappointed. I feel like we were robbed tonight in broad daylight. The whole experience was very disappointing....which probably explains why the family in the booth across from us left before they even had a chance to order. They took one look at the prices and fled! And at that point they didn't even know the size of the portions served. I am happy they got out with their wallets still intact! This is one time when I can really admit that, "I'll have what they're having," which is code for NOTHING as I can get far more mileage out of my money elsewhere. Bottom line: If you want to dine here, save your money first. Unless, of course, you just like to spend it frivolously or you just want to be seen out and about in Leawood.

I am giving Gordon Biersch a 5 star rating based on today's meal for sure! Let me start by saying our service was outstanding!! Our waiter was very good and attentive. Our seats were perfect so that we were able to watch the Royals game on one of the large Tv's in the bar. I had the Sidecar to drink and it was very well made (perhaps a little pricey for the amount I got?) We shared the CHARCUTERIE & BRIE appetizer, let me say it was spot on! We devoured it! For my entree I got the filet and spinach salad, I really think it's the best salad I have ever eaten!! It had Gorgonzola pieces in it along with dried cherries (cranberries?), and thin little fried onion rings on top!! Oh baby, that's what threw this salad over the top for me!! So yummy!! My husband had the bbq burger and fries. He said it was the best burger he had ever eaten. We were hesitant to go to Gordon Biersch today; even though it had formerly been a fave of ours. The last time we visited (about 2 years ago) the food and service had gone down hill. I must say that after today's visit I believe they have really upped their game and we will be back very soon!! Thanks, Gordon Biersch for hanging in there and climbing to the top of our favorites list again!!!

Four stars on the flavor of the food. Good service was friendly & professional. Gave it three stars because my granddaughters order came out wrong, the re-cook took forever, and then when they finally brought it was burned like it had been forgotten on the grill. Then she had to wait all over again.

While I certainly love all things micro brew, this place didn't really wrote me. It wasn't bad, but it didn't necessary do anything to break the mold either. For the money it costs per pint one could go somewhere else and be happier. I think this place has a lot of potential though, and would love to come back and see any personal growth this place may have.

New menu has a wonderful pan roasted citrus salmon entree. Nice portion size. Moist and flavorful. Would order again. I came alone so I was seated outside the door of the kitchen and entrance to the restrooms. Great treatment for someone who comes once per month with his wife. Place is not busy at all but I'm treated like a second class citizen. Might be a while before you see me again.

On my previous visit, with a group of friends, I was the first to pay and leave. Somehow, though, my card number must have remained in the system, because a second, much larger charge showed up on my account! It looks like they charged me for the whole rest of the table! I'm glad to say that I was able to call the manager, Chris, explain the situation to him, and have him take care of the problem with no hassle whatsoever. He voided the transaction and it's gone through on my card account. I didn't have to complain to the bank about the charge. All is now right with the world again! I very much appreciate Chris's doing the right thing. That'll seal my loyalty to Gordon Biersch as a good place to hang out. That and those delicious calamari! Well done, Chris and Gordon Biersch!

This place was extremely overpriced for very bland food. Service was good. The beer is below average.

I recently dined at this location for lunch. The crab & artichoke dip was absolutely wonderful. I also had the blackened mahi sandwich with garlic fries... oh yum! The staff was super friendly. The waiter was very attentive and executive chef Michael Maher is wonderful!!! I'll be back very soon!

Its a nice spot to sit outside and enjoy the weather.....and the Happy Hour specials are pretty good.....but their beer SUCKS. I tried the hef and its not good...I wish they sold other brands. Now the apps are pretty good, and service was solid, so it is OK, but just OK. I need to try the main menu next time....if there is a next time

I like the laid back sports atmosphere. The have a great menu. I always get the hummus and greens. The main problem though is that they are hit or miss. Some days they are really good and other days the food is too salty. Not sure if they have different staff in the kitchen doing different things but they need to have more consistency.

What an incredible place! Visited for lunch, had the beef medallions, cooked perfectly. My father had the lobster & shrimp macaroni & cheese - no other word but INCREDIBLE! They didn't just throw some seafood on top of the pasta, they integrate the flavors, cooking together, AND they give you a LOT of seafood with it, very nice. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Great decor, great food, very friendly service!

i stopped in for lunch yesterday, it was after the lunch hour so i was able to have a nice quiet table to read. i sat over in the bar area the hostess did something that was very different than most places she showed me around to the open tables and gave me a choice where i wanted to sit. i chose by the bar where they had the patio and open window as it was very nice out. the place is comfortably decorated even the tall seats are like sitting on a comfy sofa, there are tv's everywhere and the information on the table said they have specials during games like their happy hour. the lunch menu was a limited items menu and i was a little sad that the menu item i wanted the pecan chicken with sherry cream sauce on their site wasn't on it for lunch but i didn't check the lunch menu either so my bad. the waiter was very helpful and since this was my first visit told me in detail about the menu and offered me beer ( i don't drink so i had to disappoint him) he recommended their fall menu item the korean bbq pork chop and garlic mashed which since he was so enthusiastic- i ordered. normally i don't order pork chops out. it was quite a wait for it just a warning, i was glad i wasn't in a hurry so i read and wished they would have had some some sort of chips bread or something since my stomach was growling with all the food smells around it. it was well worth the wait though that korean bbq pork chop was DELICIOUS. it was presented also to even make you homer drool before you start eating- the bone in pork chop was the best that I've had in years tender and grilled, but the marinade and pan gravy made this pork chop awesome, and the garlic mashed were as well. they were done as well as i could make them myself and i'm a former cook who is very picky about her mashed, it comes with sauteed marinated mushrooms which i don't care for but i tried one and if you are a mushroom lover you will love theirs since even i saw why people like mushrooms after trying theirs! i was checked on quite a lot to make sure i liked my food and had water, and i declined dessert as i had plans for a walk up the street for my favorite cupcakes. in all i definitely would return, i know the pork chop was part of the fall menu and will probably be gone- still Gordon Biersch proved that i did need yet another favorite restaurant option. well done Gordon Biersch.

great salads and selection on their menu. howeverm their service or at least our server was the biggest airhead i have ever met, and i mean ever. they made up for it with some free food but i never understand why a manager just hangs out wtaching football on the tv while his customers or waiting for water after asking twice...

First time I've ever been here and they hit the nail on the head. Great service from our waitress Mindy, she made you feel welcome and always had a smile. Food was great and arrived in a prompt manner. I'll be back again and I recommend anyone wanting to dine in this area to try this place out.

You know, I kind of go back and forth on this place. It's not the first place I crave, but it's really not too bad. The Leawood location is my favorite for outdoor seating. I can't comment on the beer, but what I do know is that they do a great job on the salads. Plenty of different versions and each one is unique and flavorful. The last one I had was a Harvest Salad with chicken and it comes with a creamy herb dressing. Really yummy! I have done dinner here before and I wasn't overwhelmed. I like other places in Park Place for a nice leisurely dinner, but Gordon is a great place for lunch, fast or slow.

Fun atmosphere. Great service. Food was delish!

Come out and try our pepper crusted filet medallions!!! Goes great with our hand crafted Marzen Beer!

(5)Justin G.
It's elevated bar food at best. Service is always attentive, but never impressive. I don't fault these guys for what they are, but just go in expecting middle of the road fare.
(2)Mike D.

(3)Karin G.

(4)Sonia K.

Bbq chicken pizza was amazing. The specialty beers they brew were pretty delightful as well. Definitely going back!!!
(5)Shannon Y.

(3)Maggie C.
(1)John L.

(1)Phon W.

Attended a company party. We had a private dining area. The service was great. I enjoyed the dinner. Food was great. I believe our whole party had a great time. I will definitely come back again.
(4)Susan C.
(4)Steve S.
Food was good but service was bad. The place was almost empty yet we had to stand up to get our servers attention - twice. Then had to flag him to get the bill.
(2)Liam A.
(5)Connie B.

(2)Ashley C.
Hugh is the best bartender ever! I love the happy hours and the food is amazing
(4)Ty G.
(2)Troy D.
(4)Lance W.

My new favorite veggie burger! The service was lacking, but worth the wait.

Went there for a late lunch. The service was good, and the lobster and shrimp tacos were delicious. Fresh and hot. A little pricey, but good.

Really good Jambalaya pasta! Just the right amount. Decent price.

We love the Happy Hour and outside eating! Always a great experience. The servers are very friendly and helpful! A great place to eat!
(5)Matthew W.

(3)Brandon M.
