I'm always looking for that go-to place locally and I had hoped to find it in Ten Penny Restaurant and Bar. Unfortunately while it looks quaint and inviting from the outside there was nothing about my visit or meal that makes me want to go back. I don't consider myself a gourmand or particularly difficult to please, but I want something different or unique enough to warrant my eating out and not eating at home instead. I know people who rave about Ten Penny and eat there frequently so I'm wondering what I missed. The food was like something I'd make myself at home -- and I'm not a very good cook -- with relatively small portions, bland flavor and just the appearance of food that had been purchased frozen at Sam's Club and microwaved before serving (again my lack of cooking ability means I have experience with this!). I'll likely cave in and try it again, but for now I can only say I definitely don't share the enthusiasm of some on here and would say my experience is more like the lower ratings.

When it is good it is good, but when it is not it is not. More stars if they had some consistency. Great menu and drink menu. Just need the staff to execute it.

Ten Penney never disappoints. They have great pub food and the service is always excellent. The loaded nachos are fantastic and I don't know of any place that makes better fresh potato chips.

Tenpenny is a great place for drinks & great food. The service is awesome! Highly recommend for family or office outing. The turkey bagel is amazing!

Being from out of town, I eat in Leavenworth almost all the time. I have tried almost all of the other business in the area. After some mulling back and forth, a coworker and I decided on Ten Penny. I have to say I wasn't a big fan of the place. I am sure their burgers are good (I didn't have one) but their "schnitzel" is nothing more than country fried pork. I give them props for attempting real German potato salad. It was a good try. The staff is nice and the waitress was a good sport about our rowdiness. Things didn't seem that fresh and the country fried pork was very greasy. I might come back and try the burger but not getting my hopes up.

Ok, my husband and i like to try different places to eat. We have been to Tenpenny before the move, but never tried the new place. The food was always on the good side, but never hot, just warm. the service was fair and the place was fairly clean. Now last week we tried the new place. And here is where the service changes. Cindy the owner (yes i know who she is) was over heard telling a staff member to relabel some outdated food product that must have been expired, and hurry up and use it. Now i normally dont point out health, but there are the rumors that have been going around town. I will not repeat them, but i know what i heard. I have been a long time customer and to hear this, just disgusted me and my husband.

Who would have thought something called Hodge Podge would be so scrumptious. It definitely lives up to its name with grilled portabella mushrooms, onions, peppers and sour kraut. My husband thought it sounded disgusting but it was oh so good --he even thought so. I can't wait to order it again. It was big, it was messy and you can't put it down and stop eating it. I took the waitresses advise and ordered the chips, which are homemade and that was definitely my guilty pleasure for the day! Hubby had a pork tenderloin. Not one of those pre-made ones either. You can just tell by the size, the texture and the taste that they hand pound, hand bread and fix this fresh. I personally am not a huge fan or pork tenderloins but would have eaten this one. Quite honesly, we had so much food we could have shared a meal. But hubby decided he had committed so why stop at lunch - how about we order dessert. He did and he ordered the Lemon Meringue pie. Yes I took a few bites and it was scumptious. Crust was that perfect flakiness, the lemon filling was not too sweet, not to tart and held together just right. The meringue was the thickess (tallest) meringue I have ever seen. Can't wait to try the other pies.

While I'd been to their previous location before, this was my first visit to the new spot. The new location is much more welcoming and open than where they were before so that was already a big plus! I've tried a could sandwiches on previous trips here and I've always found the food to be pretty solid bar style food. One area they shine in is their homemade chips. They are really great! I'd recommend getting something that comes with them or get some on the side. I found this visit to be very pleasant. We did not have all the service issues some of the other reviewers have had so maybe we just happened to come at a good time. Either way, for a solid place to grab some food if in Leavenworth, I would most definitely have no issues recommending this place.

My apologies to the people of Leavenworth, because I wasn't expecting to find much around your town. I was visiting to do some work in your... ahem... facility there, but was pleasantly surprised with what you had to offer. Sure, the town is small, but it's got quite a few little shops and restaurants - and thanks, Yelper (yes, one), for guiding our little group to Ten Penny. Service was great, and the menu had a ton of variety... everything from a nice healthy salad to a house chicken fried steak. I ended up somewhere in between, and went what is essentially a reuben on flatbread... it was huge, and I couldn't finish it, but I certainly did enjoy what I ate.

The food is pretty good. If you are looking for a sports bar, it's ok but nothing special. They have a couple of local brews on tap. The burgers are the best thing they have.

I had the queso and the guaco burger. Food was really good and reasonably priced. Staff was nice and we received prompt service. This will def be my go to burger place in Leavenworth. Very satisfied

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday around 1:00 and the place was packed. We were seated right away though and had great service from start to finish. Wife loved the salmon with steamed veggies, which also came with a cup of house made chicken noodle soup that she raved about. The ham and cheese panini had almost too much ham on it. But it was great. And I was glad I paid the extra $1.50 for the onion rings. Great, crispy batter, cooked perfectly. Very inexpensive, good, clean atmosphere with a lot of TVs. We were very happy and will be back next time we get to Leavenworth.

Great food and even better service. We took the family there after church today - although they are not usually open on Sundays - and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's a great place for families with children (we have 3 under 5 yrs old). We definitely will be coming back.

I have to say that after reading all of these reviews I was rather disappointed with my meal. We went for lunch and it was busy but no packed. When our waitress finally came over she took our drink order and disappeared. When she finally returned we gave her our orders. We both ordered a burger, nothing special. We waited for 30 minutes for a hamburger. Finally got the burgers, asked for some BBQ sauce, they didn't have any. What bar doesn't have BBQ sauce. I had a Russian hamburger, it had 3-4 mushrooms on it and nothing else. It was dry and burnt. My boyfriend got the all-American burger and he said that his was just as bad. Both of our fries were very salty and we only had a few. We finished our meal and were wanting to pay and leave and we waited and waited. Finally I asked another waitress for our tab because we were needing to leave. Our waitress finally came back, have us our bill and left. Our bill was $27. There are places in town that sell $10 hamburgers and based off of this experience I would rather give them my money. Not impressed!
