Average fare. Our food was dry and overcooked. We had fried calamari, scallops and ribeye. The sides were better. Too pricey for lackluster quality.

Pleasantly surprised with this new hot spot in Lawrence. We've been to 801 Chophouse, Capital Grille, Gas Light Grill, Plaza III, etc. (pretty much every steakhouse in Leawood and the Plaza) and this place definitely stacks up. Great waitstaff, drink menu (finally got to try Boulevard Choc Ale) and our food was great too. My husband and I each ordered filets with different sides and we couldn't have been more pleased with how everything came out. And my husband discovered a new favorite whiskey, recommended by the manager. We will definitely be back and bringing friends.

Steaks are excellent (especially the prime rib) but a touch on the pricey side. Sides are a la carte. If you enjoy lamb I would also recommend it as well. On the bar side they run a special on Tuesdays, $25.00 for a T-bone steak with a potato and salad as a side. Otherwise the best sides in my opinion are the Lobster Mac and the Whipped Cauliflower, both of which you must try. Looking for a lighter dish? Try either the Prime Rib Sliders or Chicken salad pita. Sunday brunch is very good; try the Crab Cake Benedict. Sunday's also offer an elaborate Bloody Mary bar and burger specials all day. If you order the cinnamon roll be prepared, it can easily feed 3-4 people. Pancakes are mediocre. The wait staff is very courteous and helpful. Bar tenders are also great and are able to make some great and unique cocktails. The head bartender is well versed in Scotch and able to help your selection.

Tavern menu is pretty extensive (even lobster Po Boy) we had .35 wings and prime rib sliders. Mood is laid back and lighting is dark but service is good and quality of food is above average. Couldn't give up the 5th star due to higher prices but all in all good experience.

Our very own "Palm" or "Morton's" style quality old school steakhouse. Great ambiance, dark, sleek modern. Literally the best filet and rib eye we have had outside of New York or Chicago! Best special date meal in years! All the classic accompaniments including wedge salad, luscious potatoes and grilled asparagus. The steaks are beautiful and seasoned perfectly, you can taste the succulent juicy dry aged depth. Utterly delicious. Warm intimate atmosphere with stellar and very personal service. We loved it!

Can I give this zero stars? This place certainly has the "fine dining" price, without service or food quality to match. A brief recap of our Sunday evening birthday celebration -7 adults, all ordered cocktails, server forgot my husband's glass of wine when she brought out all the cocktails -Bottle of wine purchased (white) - their idea of "wine presentation" is to open it, pick up your glass, fill it while holding it and set it down. Absolutely zero wine presentation. -We brought in a bottle of wine (red) and asked for it to be decanted and glasses brought for the table. The server (Shelby) brought out wine glasses for everyone except the girls who were drinking white wine. We asked for glasses for them, she said "They have glasses." Correct, but for WHITE wine, not the RED wine -We ordered 3 orders of $11 crab cakes for the table, first bite of one order had a quarter-sized piece of plastic in it -Wedge salad ordered with avocado, delivered without, server didn't even notice -Restaurant was out of prime rib and oysters -I ordered trout ($21). 20 minutes after our dinner order had been back, someone (not the server) came out and said "We are out of trout, can I get you salmon or something else? I selected salmon ($25). When our bill came out, I was charged $25 for the salmon I was forced into ordering, which came out rare in the center. I attribute this to the other dinner orders already being fired and mine being fired late but still coming out at the same time as the rest of the entrees. -2nd bottle of wine ordered, server couldn't get the cork out of this one. Again, zero wine presentation. -Long, blonde hair on a loaded baked potato (all female diners had dark hair). Happened to the same girl who got plastic in her crab cake. She asked for another loaded baked potato, was told the kitchen was out and that she could have loaded mashed instead. Bill came out and she was upcharged $4 for the replacement offered to her by the restaurant for her hair-ridden baked potato. Loaded mashed took forever and came out after half her steak was eaten. -When she recieved the bill, she mentioned about being upcharged for the loaded mashed and also still being charged for the appetizer. Their answer? Taking a lousy $2 off the bill. -Our party spent well over $350 and had quite possibly the worst experience, ever. I emailed the restaurant about this over a week ago to give them the benefit of the doubt and I never heard anything back. Steer clear, unless you like paying fine dining prices and recieving foregin objects in your food.

Nice break from the usual but not a highlight of culinary Lawrence. Steaks overpriced and ala carte. Over infused with smoke. Better, cheaper steaks around town. Calamari was perfectly cooked (tender and crispy). Would go back for this alone (but not the steak). Non-steak entrees around $20, fair mix of fish and pasta. Good selection of entree salads; dinner caesar was adequate. Asparagus was grilled and suffered the same over-smoky taste as the steak.

Buddy and I ate here today and both got sick! Burnt the 1st burger and then the second one was loaded in grease. No idea but we won't be back. Can't believe we paid $$$ for that shit!

The Six Mile Chop House restaurant is attached to the Six Mile Tavern bar, and both are managed by the same people. As the name suggests, the restaurant specializes in steaks and chops, but is not limited to them. They have pastas, seafood, chicken, and salads. As with some of the best steak chains, everything is strictly a la carte, in the sense that the entrees do not include vegetables. But the vegetable sides are excellent, very fresh, and organic. The atmosphere of the dining room is excellent, dimly lit, with many comfortable booths, and the service is very good. If you are not careful, you could end up with sticker shock, when the bill arrives. But it also is possible to have a moderately priced meal here. For example, if you are there on a Wednesday, all of the house wines are $3 a glass. If you are there before 6 pm, it can pay to ask if there are any happy hour specials. The soups and salads are moderately priced, including the large dinner size salads. The seafood arrives three times a week, fresh, never frozen, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The grilled oysters appetizer are really outstanding. The beer braised mussels appetizer were very good, but oddly the baguettes that came with them were stale. The bread comes in only twice a week. That needs improvement. They have a separate kids menu, which is moderately priced and includes one side. The Six Mile Chop House is a welcome addition to west Lawrence. We'll be back for sure.

I tried this place this evening with my parents, husband, and two young kids. All of us had great dinners! My dad and I had the prime rib, my mom the salmon, and my husband the beer hall burger. Everyone said that their food was excellent; my dad and I both loved the prime rib and would go back again in a heartbeat. The chop house is pretty small, but I liked its appearance and it was great not to have the distraction of TVs everywhere. I saw the review about the reservation not getting recorded properly, which was unfortunate. They seem to have a very young wait staff, so that may just be chalked up to inexperience. We had a few minor hiccups in our service that I would also attribute to youth/inexperience, but certainly nothing that would prevent me from returning. The kids were just fine here - typical kids-menu fare along the lines of chicken fingers, grilled cheese, cheeseburgers. However, I think I would go back without the kids just so that I could enjoy the nice meal without the additional work of minding children! One last thought: we took home a piece of carrot cake and it was HUGE! Probably one of the richer pieces of carrot cake I've had before, so a smaller slice would have been more than enough.

My husband and I have been here twice for lunch and once for dinner. The atmosphere is good--quiet and no TV's in sight. Their salads are good with fresh, quality ingredients. The entrees are good as well and so is the service for a college town. I only have two issues, it's pricy, so be forewarned, and worst of all, the food tends to be over-salted.

OK...I've been here a couple times and the food deserves a higher rating...but I am giving the restaurant 2 Stars in hopes that people will more likely find their way to this review...keeping it distinct with few stars. The reason is that some way this restaurant needs to get the message that their prices are WAY TOO HIGH!! WAY TOO HIGH!!! There is nothing wrong with their steaks...they are good. But, choke on this: we had ZERO appetizers or salads, two 10oz steaks and two baked potatoes, with two bottles of beer each, and for the two of us (with 7.00 tax and 20% tip included) the cost was....drum roll please.....$134!!!!) And the free bread was lousy!!! This is, after all, Lawrence, Kansas....not NYC or Chicago. And the atmosphere is OK, but if you've eaten around the country, it really is pretty pedestrian by comparison. My suggestion: reduce the size of the steaks a smidge; reduce the price per ounce of the steaks a smidge; throw in a lousy salad (costs the restaurant what...$.50 each); throuh in some fries (costs the restaurant what....$.25)...Get you customer's bill down to less than $100 and you might make it....the place was NOT at all crowded at crunch time last Saturday night. The service is perfectly fine and, again, the quality of the steaks is good...but the price is ridiculous and they will not make it without some revisions to counter this huge problem.

3.5. A lot goes right here. The dining room is nicely done, as is the bar. Servers and bar staff are friendly and helpful. Highlights from the menu include the Pama martini, the whipped cauliflower, and the cabbage slaw. The complimentary chocolate truffles - also made by the chef - were fantastic. Other things are good, without being sufficiently adventurous to make them great (on the night we ate there, the corn chowder soup and the mushroom ragout app fell into this category). Yet other things - important things - were downright unimpressive. Sadly, my strip steak fell into this category (insufficiently flavorful) as did the steak salad (steak was to fatty and sliced too thickly for a salad). Overall, a solid enough dinner experience, but with some holes (besides the steaks, get an espresso machine and make that bread you serve as a cover piping hot).

I've dined here three times including lunch, brunch and dinner. The salmon salad is refreshing and the dressing is light and tasty. We've tried the fried pickles which are usually a treat for me at other restaurants. The fried pickles here are so salty that I could feel myself bloating instantly. There is quite a bit of salt added to every dish. I ate the Eggs Benedict during brunch and the ham was so salty I had to remove it before eating my meal. The hamburger and fries carry quite a bit of salt as well. So if you find you add salt to all of your meals, this is the spot for you. Otherwise, it's a fun atmosphere for cocktails and watching sporting events.

We went here for our anniversary dinner and could not say anything bad about the place. We were greeted kindly and our waitress helped my wife pick out a drink that was good for her as she was very indecisive. I ordered a steak and it was cooked to perfection and had great flavor. We also went for dessert and got some cheesecake, which was a fantastic end to a great meal. The only complaint I have is our bill was very high for a meal for two. If your looking for a nice night out and price does not bother you then this is the perfect spot.

My friends and I tried this the other day for a small celebration. Due to the location I was not expecting much. I was told though we could get a great steak so we decided to check it out. I kind of laughed a little when they compared themselves to the Palm and Morton's. I took my laugh back--- they very much won me over. Of course this is no Morton's steak, service or atmosphere but it is the best steak house you'll find in Lawrence! It appears they have many other options on the menu other than steak so I'll have to return to try these out! I had a caesar salad which was nice. Many places often "overdo" the caesar dressing but they got this just right with crispy lettuce. We all ordered steaks and individual sides. I had the cauliflower which was amazing. Steak was cooked perfect--medium how I ordered it. Honestly I was expecting them to overcook it. True test of a place comparing themselves to Morton's. If I ever have to send a steak back that's bad news for a steak place. One friend ordered the beets and she loved them. My husband had a baked potato. Portions were very generous. We had a nice bottle of wine and chocolate bag for dessert. The bag was huge. Serves at least 4. I will return again when I want a nice steak meal or want to try some fish. By far the best, and most pricey, steak meal in Lawrence. I do not consider this a 5 star restaurant here just based on the atmosphere. And maybe because they compared themselves to Mortons. It is in a strip mall attached to a bar. They are just getting started and I'm sure if they keep up this type of food quality they will be around for a while.

Does taste pretty good but it's overpriced. In addition, out of the five times I've had food here I got sick three times. Not sure if it was food poisoning or what. I will not go back after getting sick the last time.

I was pleasantly surprised at this place. Pricey but well worth it for a great steak. I will be back. The only things that prevented getting 5 starts was that it was very loud in there. Not sure if this was due to a particular table by us or the acoustics in there.
(4)Laura K.
I like the quiet atmosphere and the quality is good but ambiance, food, not worth the price. A la carte side dishes seem too much ordered with very expensive entrees.

Heard great reviews about this place but It was a flop. The food was mediocre at best. Had the crab cakes which had me crunching on shells in an oily soggy mess called a crab cake. I'm pretty sure there was more shell in my crab cake then actual crab meat. I'm just glad they used real crab meat. The cream sauce with it was nice though. Dinner was pasta and a salad. The salad had cold flavorless precooked and packaged costco like shrimp in it. The shrimp had that same overly salted packaged flavor that you get with the precooked packaged shrimp. The salad was drenched In a thin water mess of a dressing. The pasta was cooked well but the flavor was nothing to write home about. The sauce reminded me a bad overly salted chicken noodle soup. Usually you expect a nice rich sauce that covers the noodles. This was a salty brine that flooded the plate with the noodles swimming in it. On top of the pasta was over cooked and dry chicken breast like meat product. It did have capers and sun dried tomatoes so that was a plus. Considering its Lawrence I'm giving it two stars but it's not worth the money. It's expensive and you can get a better quality meal at plaza III or Houston's in KC for less money. Don't waste your time or money! Drinks were okay though. The atmosphere was nice. If they could cook food to the same quality as what the atmosphere demands then this place would be good. Probably still not worth the price point they are charging considering I can get a much much higher quality meal in KC at a real chop house for less or about the same price.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We had a Friday night dinner here and we're very disappointed. We ordered the lemonade linguini , which was bland and dull. Also had a Caesar salad, which had thin dressing and cold, pre-cooked shrimp. Appetizer was the crab cakes, which were average. This cost $60 and nothing was especially good. Not worth the price point at all. And our service was poor.

We had lunch. Crab cakes awesome appetizer. Hamburger for me chicken Brie for Kim. Salads instead of fries -- watching calories! Very tasty!

For Lawrence Ks, its 5 stars. Atmosphere is great. I really like the intimate setting and open kitchen. The steak was high quality and cooked perfectly. The sides were all very good. The price is high but not for steaks of this quality. I paid $25.99 for two eight oz filet mignon at Dillons and that is choice. Six Mile serves Dry Aged Prime and that is not cheap. The wine list is small but done very well. If I had to find a flaw, the service is not premium restaurant quality but the staff is new and still in training. I would also suggest that Six Mile get on Open Table for reservations asap.

Food Great - Overpriced for the bar-type atmosphere
