Tasty sandwiches and daily specials. My wife and I stopped in on a recent trip to Lawrence. We enjoyed the gyro specials. They make your meal to order, so don't expect chain fast-food speed, but the service was friendly and the food was delicious. I'd eat there again. Nothing spectacular, but good food.

We went for lunch on Friday, May 17 at 12:30. We placed our order right away, and easily found a seat, given that the place was nearly empty. Only two other tables were taken. The seats, by the way, are metal and could easily be used as a punishment for misbehaving kids. Worst seating ever. My back hurt the rest of the day. 28 Minutes later we finally received our food, which was actually pretty good. I got the betta bronco burger, and my husband got the french dip. However, the poor service and ridiculously long delay in receiving our meal meant that we had to wolf it down, in order to be able to leave in time for an appointment. We had left plenty of time, but the half hour wait sucked up our extra time. We were actually trying to find an employee to get our money back so we could leave, but could not see anyone on the floor or behind the counter. I was just starting to get up to go and call into the kitchen area for a refund when the food arrived. Bottom Line: It doesn't matter how the food tastes if you simply don't have time to enjoy it.

Great sandwiches! The service is super fast and friendly, similar to Jimmy Johns, but the ingredients are fresh and numerous options. The gyro is outstanding as well as their Betta' burgers. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a burger, salad, soup, or sandwich.

I love this little place. I always get the Big Apple, which is ham, havarti cheese, and apple slices on a pita. The food is always quick and the service is great.

What a nice little place to pick up a gourmet sandwich! Gotta try the SLOP sandwich or soup! Wonderful! As good as a New York Deli with fresh choices.

Found the food to be ok, but for the price was hoping for better. Husband ordered their pig slop soup. Was salty! Staff came over to check on us and asked him how he liked it. Hubs responded, "Meh." Staff replied by saying OH... but no offer to get something else, nor did she ask what specifically didn't Wow him about the soup. OK service. OK food. But for soup and a sandwich for lunch, too spendy to the quality.

New to the lunch scene in Lawrence and close to my office, so hubby and I gave it a shot. Food was great. I got the County Fair and there was plenty of meat, the bread was nice and toasty and the cheese was melty. Hubby got the Hatchery and chicken florentine soup, he said both were really good. The only downsides were 1) the pattern on the tables! Oh my gosh, it's this dizzying circular pattern that made me sick every time I looked down at it! I ended up laying a few menus down and setting my plate on top of it because I was getting so dizzy! 2) length of time it took for our food, about 20 minutes and the restaurant was only half full. We'll definitely give it another shot because the food was tasty and close to my office, just hoping they will speed up a bit!

This place is awesome. I'm a little worried that not a lot of people are aware that it's around--it's worth trying and then some. Atmosphere is the only thing I have a little problem with--the decor and wall art is a little spaced out and eclectic. Still, every single time I've been in there, the people are outstandingly nice. I'd much rather have great service and great food than compromise either for the sake of decor. I'm very particular with how bacon is cooked--Sandwich Bowl consistently gets it right. So far I've only had their BLT on a hoagie, but it's just so good that it's hard to not get. My mom gets Victoria St. and loves it. She recently tried it in a bowl but since it is essentially a BLT with cheese, it was a little "ehh" in the bowl. But that's the thing that Sandwich Bowl has--variety. You can get any of their sandwiches in a bowl as salads or on different breads. That's a god-send for a picky person like me. I'm sure I'll get around to trying more things on their menu. In the meantime, try them and spread the word!!

We had the Gyro from this place. It was okay. The tzatziki sauce needs more cucumber and its missing something tangy. Overall the Gyros were good. Just need to add more flavor. Would we go back.... Yes.

Great sandwich shop! They have a huge variety of sandwiches that they can make and are very willing to adjust any sandwich how you'd like it. That said, I would highly recommend trying them as they are; the ingredients they put together are phenomenal (with the possible exception of Miracle Whip). Sometimes the names of the sandwiches don't make a ton of sense, but if you take a minute and look at the ingredients instead, I would be very surprised if you didn't find a combination you liked. They have a nearly overwhelming number of options; when you walk in, there's a chalk wall behind the counter with their most popular options (I decided on the County Fair and was NOT disappointed!), but that doesn't include everything on the menu, so if you'd really like to peruse, grab one of the green menus and sit down. It might take you a while. The cashier working when I went in (7p on a Wednesday) was absolutely incredible. Easily the best cashier I've ever seen in a fast food establishment. She walked us through the menu above and made some excellent suggestions and was super awesome as I flip-flopped back and forth between getting dessert or not. (I went with dessert.) Overall a very awesome experience. Will definitely return!

Sandwich Bowl is my choice for the best sandwiches in Lawrence. The County Fair, their take on the Reuben, and the Pig are three of my favorites. However, despite the name "Sandwich Bowl," and the presence of bread bowls on their menu, they are phasing out soups. Which is a mistake. The staff also doesn't quite know how to position this to customers. Case in point, tonight: "Sorry, our soups are a seasonal item." Us: "LOOK OUTSIDE ITS NOVEMBER"

Waled in right before closing, very welcoming atmosphere. I had the Reuben with a side of fruit. The sandwich was great however the fruit was a little ripe especially the water mellon. Next time I'll get the chips. I recommend this place for a quick bite. I will definitely visit the Sandwich Bowl again.

This place is awesome! Came with my boyfriend and we ordered the 6th Street Sandwich and the Big Dipper. Both were amazing. I love that they buy their ingredients locally and while the food takes time to cook, it's so worth it. I would recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a filling, fresh, and delicious lunch/dinner.

A new lunch place just down the street from my office? Excellent! After months of "Coming Soon" signs, it was nice to finally see this place open. I was a few weeks late on account of all my travel, but I finally made it here for lunch. My order was a half cold sandwich + soup + fountain drink combo for over $8. Yikes...that is expensive. However, I had to try it and figured it must be really, really good for that price. My cold sandwich and soup came out quickly, and it appeared the hot stuff came out soon enough. The restaurant was probably only 1/4 to 1/3 full so that may slow down with crowd as the previous poster mentioned. The sandwich itself was an Italian sandwich with your typical Italian meats plus dressing, along with lettuce, tomato and onion. There were multiple bread choices, but I decided just to stick with the white bread, which I don't often do. The bread was soft and tasty. The meats were good in quantity, as well as in flavor. It was a basic but solid sandwich. "Cheese Medley" soup was actually Broccoli Cheddar. Preferred by me, but not quite what I expected or ordered...or paid for, for that matter. Luckily, I love broccoli, but some people don't. The other option on this day was French Onion. I will say that I saw the French Onion and it didn't look all that great. And in fact, I saw probably two bowls sitting out that were less than half eaten, so that could be the case. Service is friendly but not energetic. It's like they are going through the motions. The place itself is clean, well laid out, and the decoration is interesting - license plates, random signs. etc. I kind of like it. All in all, it was a fine meal. However, for over $9 after tax, I would expect more. I have a feeling my visits here won't be terribly often, I am sorry to say. But if you go, make sure to request your free pickle! The best thing about free is that it's free.
