Incredibly great location, good by-the-slice and meal prices, mediocre by-the-slice or whole-pie pizzas. Adding honey to this fairly generic pizza makes it a fan favorite. It reminds me of Joe's Pizza in Westport. Which, again, is fairly generic as far as pizza goes. But the real benefits are when you order Bones, or buy by the slice and eat a cheap slice on the go!

The one thing this place has going is the price. We got a very good sized pizza with all the toppings for $13. The equivalent elsewhere would have been close to $20. However, the pizza was just ok. It's not something I would go back for.

Ooooh, Pyramid. Oh Ye of late-night weight gain! Amazing, greasy, cheesy pizza with a crust like fresh-baked french bread...what could be better? Plus, the employees are AWESOME. I mean, anyone who has to deal with that many drunk kids at 2am has the right to be a little rude and snarky, but the peeps at Pyramid are always super nice and seem to actually enjoy being there slinging slices to our drunk azzes. Love it. Usually, late-night pizza options are...well, bad. Pizza I order at 2am is NEVER the pizza I would order sober, in the daylight, in front of God and everybody. Not so with Pyramid - they are just as good for a daytime cram session as they are for the after party. Well done, Pyramid pizza. If you like cheesesticks (and aren't worried about one more bulge of cellulite), order the Bonez! Amaaazing.

I used to live near the Pyramid on Ninth and they were my favourite local pizza. When I got married and moved to another part of Lawrence, I missed them. So I was excited when a second restaurant opened downtown, especially as I will not eat at Papa Keno's (that's a story for another review) and I don't understand the fervour over Rudy's. The sign on the door advertised an everyday special of pizza buffet and salad bar for $5.99. Even more excited! Until I got inside. We entered from the back, so we passed the buffet and bar on the way in. The pizza looked old and dry. The salad, the same...obviously dumped from a bag. There seemed to be two employees only on a Saturday afternoon, and they were lethargic. They weren't rude, but they weren't polite, and I don't like buying food from zombies. I was right about the pizza being dry. My year-old son, who eats leaves, spit out a bite of crust. The salad was tasteless. In fact, the only part of the meal I didn't dislike was my Coke. I won't be returning.

Hanging out on Mass St on a Saturday night and DD'ing for my friends when we decided that we needed to get some food in them. I wasn't expecting good pizza at a late night eatery aimed at the drunk crowd, but I was very surprised at the quality. I thought the crust was out of this world and I enjoyed the sweeter sauce they use. The cheese and toppings were of reasonable quality and the price was fair as well (a large 2 topping was 15.66 after taxes). I will be back for more pizza the next time I go visit my Kansas side friends.

After hitting up several different pizza locations in Lawrence, I have to say so far my favorite is Pyramid Pizza. You definitely get your money's worth. Their personal pizzas are huge, as far as personal pizzas go. I always end up getting two meals out of them. I'm not big on thick crusts, but theirs is pretty good. Toppings wise they have a good selection of ingredients, including green olives. Green olives are the measuring stick I use for pizza places. If you don't have them, you might as well become a Little Cesar's franchise. Their new Mass St location is much roomier than the gas station location along with a couple of HDTV's, which seem to be a code requirement for restaurants lately.

OK I'm from the Chicago area and I gave this small town pizza place a five star! I think it's the honey in the dough, or the sauce or the $5.00 personal pizza with a pop special, but they keep me coming back! You can also by the pizza by the slice which is always a plus if you are in a hurry. By far the best pizza in Lawrence!

Do you have different pizza "moods"? I have different pizza moods. I eat here when I want gooey, cheesy pieces of heaven. I go somewhere else when my cravings are more refined. The wings are actually pretty good, although I think they're just frozen ones from Sysco. This stuff is cheap and tasty. I really have no complaints.

Pyramid PIzza's practically defunct pizza buffet is saved only by the fat, soft, slightly sweet crust that is absolutely amazing...if treated as breadsticks and not as pizza. ...because the rest of the pizza haphazardly sloughed around on the buffet table is caked with dry chicken, congealed cheese and crackly sauce.

For ~$7 you can get two slices and a drink, perfect meal. I feel like their pizza has a slightly New York-ish taste, and the crust is a little thick on the edges, but is pretty tasty. I would recommend dipping in ranch, though they have honey, which is interesting. Last time I went the guy serving me checked in back to see if any other pizzas were on their way out, which I thought was nice. Open late for the bar crowd.

We recently moved to Lawrence and I love pizza so I've tried most of the places. This is one of my two favorites so I've been back several times. I can't pick a favorite between Pyramid and Wheat State because they are so different. I like how the Pyramid crust is so thin but then has the big braided, doughy edge. I love all the meats and none of the vegetables that go with pizza so I order the Meat Head. The Bonz are also delicious.

If you're looking for a late night snack, then pyramid Pizza would be the place to check out. Its a smaller place, usually frequented by the college kids who stumble in late night after being kicked out of the bars after last call. The pizza, not amazing, but nothing to snub your nose at either. It has the right amount of grease, not too much to make you feel bad about yourself, but just enough to still feel like you're getting some good junk food. Pyramid offers by it by the slice deals, and if you're really hungry you can get yourself a whole pizza. The price isnt too bad. The last couple times I have been in i have had to wait a considerable amount of time as they seemed to have ran out of pepperoni, i'm not sure how thats possible to be honest. The building is a bit on the older side, and they definitely arent trying to impress anyone with the decor. I can say without a doubt this is the best place to stop in with you college buddies after a night of drinking on mass.

I have decided that Pyramid deserves 5 stars. They are my go-to for pizza in this town. They are DEFINITELY the best pizza for the price. The $11 3-topping large pizza (online special, be sure to mention it!) is the best deal around. Definitely get cream cheese. Once you have pizza with cream cheese, you'll never want anything else! And save room for the garlicky crust! I usually get delivery (unless I'm stopping in for a late night slice after tossing back a few at Harbour) and they're pretty fast. They usually quote 45 minutes but it rarely takes more than 25. Thanks, Pyramid!

I stopped in here with a group of high school kids on the way to Topeka. We had the lunch buffet for $5.99. Gosh, the only thing I can think of that is better than Pyramid pizza is Waldo pizza, but this is a close, close second and very different. Pyramid has thin crust but big, croissant-like gooey fresh-bread buttery crust that is just divine! I will usually leave crust when eating pizza buffet, but there was nary a sign that I had eaten six slices when all was said and done. One thing that gives it half a star more is that when one of my kiddos didn't pay and wasn't eating, the manager said she could go ahead and have some slices. This was very kind, as he possibly thought she didn't have money, and he didn't want her to be hungry? Actually, she had eaten earlier, but it was nice of him. What brings it down half a star was a lack of creativity on the buffet pizzas. Maybe it is better not so close to 2 pm. If you love good pizza and want to experience a Lawrence tradition, choose Pyramid :).

My Wife and I went here for the first time. Nowadays, it's hard to find a pizza place that has Canadian Bacon available topping for a pizza. We were waited on promptly at the cash register, order was taken. Only thing is that I asked what the small size was comparable to, cashier said that it's about the size of a personal pan. I would say we would have been able to share one small pizza. Also, I judge pizza also based on if you can pull it out of the refrigerator and it tastes good. Well, this pizza passed the test. I would not recommend this place for the atmosphere, but for the pizza, it's very good.

Honestly amazing pizza. I missed having this in emporia ks and was excited this place went in. I get the bones and cheese pizza to go almost any chance I get. Good friendly service too which is hard to find in a college town!

Pyramid pizza is so good. I've only ever had the buffet on Sundays but it's tasty. The sauce is unique. Tangy and sweet. The crust is crispy light and fresh tasting. The toppings are fresh and there is very little grease. The seating is comfortable if not a bit dated. There are five big tv's on the walls for news and games but sadly most of them are older and beginning to wear out. This is a great place to watch the KU or chiefs games on Sundays. It's clean and affordable. I would definitely come back here. It's a good representation of mass street and Lawrence.

Legit for the price. They cook it better here than Emporia did. Buffet at lunch time. I'm a Keno's man, but I go here when I don't want to spend and or wait as much.

Had the buffet. Not so great. As this is my first visit I don't know if a pizza made to order is better but I'd guess it would be. At least I hope. I'll try again and update this review. As for the salad bar portion of the buffet, not a lot to it. Lettuce, yes it is iceberg. I'll stop there because there isn't much more to it. Dressing and just a couple basics.

Cami G.
Yummy! Great pricing & friendly staff. Prompt delivery and always hot when it arrives! Make sure to check out their "Bonez", great twist on a "cheesy breadstick". Would give 5 stars if they had a 4 cheese instead of just 3 cheese..yes I'm picky!

Oh, Pyramid. Your close proximity to downtown* made my dinner break while working retail on Mass Street so much better. In fact, I miss you and could really go for a piece of you right now. We had a lot of good times, Pyramid: sausage, onions and black olives; pepperoni and cheese; and even plain cheese. Pyramid, you taught me something that I've rarely experienced at other places - extra cheese from Pyramid Pizza really is too much cheese. Those words don't cross my lips all that often, but they did with my first and last extra cheese request with you. That's ok though b/c not having to order extra cheese meant I could allot that topping to something else (default to onions always). You will forever hold a place in my memories (and stomach) as one of my favorite Lawrence pizza joints, and I thank you for that. Fondly, Me. *This review is directed specifically to the location on 9th. I cannot attest for the quality of the semi-new (at least new to me) Mass location and will tell myself that there is no change. Whether true or not, there is no doubt that the Pyramid on 9th was pretty damn awesome.

Favorite pizza in Lawrence. The crust makes the pizza for me and Pyramid has the best crust hands down. Honey sweet and crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Delicious. Big fan of the lunch buffet too. Great price for unlimited pizza. If they don't have what you want just ask them and they'll make a fresh pizza!

After having lived within walking distance of Waldo Pizza for almost two years, I was really disappointed to move over forty miles away. Fortunately, Pyramid Pizza has done a pretty great job of filling the hole in my heart with their cheesy, garlicky goodness. My first experience with Pyramid was courtesy of my boyfriend. Upon realizing one lazy Saturday night that neither of us really felt like putting any real effort into dinner, we decided to order in. He suggested an order of Pyramid's famous "Bonez," which is basically cheese wrapped into a braided crust and served with marinara, ranch, and honey. Between that and the beer, I have no idea how many calories we consumed (nor do I even really want to speculate, quite frankly) but it was worth however many pounds went straight to my ass that night. Since then, I've ordered in regular pizza a couple of times and have yet to be disappointed in the food, other than being a little put off at times by the amount of grease on the boxes. But then, I don't order pizza when I feel like eating healthy, so that doesn't bother me terribly. I actually ordered a cheese pizza just last night and am very much looking forward to leftovers again for dinner. And holy crap am I ever disappointed that I went twenty-six years of my life before trying honey on pizza! They serve a little container with each pie you order, and there is a very good reason for that. I've definitely learned my lesson about judging food before I eat it with this. SO GOOD.

For pizza in Lawrence, this has surpassed many competitors for myself. Like other reviewers, it is definitely in the crust: incredibly doughy and perfectly pairs with honey. The real winner though is the Bonez cheesy breadsticks which far exceeded expectations. I appreciated the use of a coupon on the order though I was not aware of the special. Overall, a late night pizza option that offers a bit more than others in the field.

Pyramid Pizza and I go way back. When I used to live by their 9th Street location, it was a definite late night favorite. Not a whole lot has changed since the move to Mass - the main difference seems to be that the years of pizza grease haven't had a chance to accumulate on the floor. That said, stay away from the "buffet" option. The pizza back there is definitely disappointing, and the salad is likewise less than appetizing. Normal pizza is the same level of greatness, though. In my opinion, the main thing that sets Pyramid apart from the other pizza joints in town is their crust, which is always soft and tasty. Toppings and sauce are basically just generic pizza place fare: nothing to write home about, but solid. My other main criterion for pizza is the reheating factor. Through extensive testing, I have determined that Pyramid's slices survive the microwave with the fewest negative effects. The crust fails to retain all of its previous glory, but it doesn't condense into a hardened, cardboard-like substance a la 90% of the other pizzas in the world. There are other good places to go for pizza in Lawrence (Wheat State pops to mind as the best alternative), but Pyramid's always a respectable choice.

By no means is it a sexy place to get a slice of pizza--shuffled in next to a gas station on a street that sees a lot of homeless traffic. However, the pizza more than makes up for the location. Their sauce is so-so, but the crust and the cheese are what you're there for. Also, I have never had a bad experience with the establishment or its staff. When Rudy's is closed and you don't feel like grubbing (or waiting) on Pizza Shuttle, Pyramid is there for you. Their Monday special is also fantastic if you're looking to feed a group on the cheap.

Excellent thin crispy crust. Prices are reasonable, and service is good. Definitely dip the crust in honey!

By far my favorite pizza in Lawrence. The crust is honey dipped and tastes amazing. Walk in special is the best pizza deal in Lawrence as well as Monday madness (2 for 1 pricing for any pizza) being pretty good too. I would definitely recommend the peperoni, or the veg head.

Had Pyramid Pizza for the first time last night after a friend recommended it. I was pretty underwhelmed by it, especially considering all of the 5 star reviews. It was ok and the prices were good, just not anything to write home about. IMHO, there's better pizza nearby.

I visit this place EVERY time I come to Lawrence. EVERY time. Just about my favorite pizza in the world. It's a tasty "hole in the wall" type of place. But the bottom line is that the pizza is great.
(5)
Kelly R.
Pretty good pizza. Not amazing, but satisfying. Try the "bonez"-a braided breadstick concoction with several types of cheeses baked inside, then brushed with an herb butter mix. THAT is well worth the trip to Pyramid.
(3)
Rush G.
I will keep the 5 Star Rating alive as I will also give this place 5 stars. I give it the rating for what it is, a consistant, tasty slice of pizza that you can buy by the slice--which is what I always do. Is it the best pizza in town? That's debatable, Papa Keno's and Rudy's are good places as well, but you can not beat the convience of Pyramid, which thankfully stays open til 3. I personally always get the pizza by the slice that's in the enclosed warming station, I think it gives it a crispier crust. Definitely go to Pyramid!

The pizza is good...the service..not so good. I ordered a pizza a few nights ago and they charged my card and then I called back to add ranch dressing on the side which I always got for free when they were on the 9th st location. When the delivery guy arrived, he expected cash even though I was already charged. They voided my pizza charge to add the ranch dressing and then I guess didn't have my card number so said we were paying cash. So the guy called and they said they had to rerun my card which didn't have enough money because it was already charged..So it declined..so I had to transfer money to cover for their error. On top of that, I got charged for the ranch and received no ranch and still haven't been refunded for the double charge. . I never had a problem when they were at 9th street and their employees were awesome. Since their staff screwed up and caused a huge mess with my account and didn't even give me the ranch dressing I requested, I will never order from there again. The pizza was also cold because we spent 10 minutes trying to figure out the payment situation. Very unprofessional.

Best Pizza in town hands down. I hate the crust on Pizza but love Pyramids's and it comes witht he lovely honey. My freshmand year I just live down the street and would always wonder in for a whole pie or just the slices. Nothing in Lawrence is better. The only thing I think is close is Pappa Keno, but the style is completely different.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

As for the salad bar portion of the buffet, not a lot to it. Lettuce, yes it is iceberg. I'll stop there because there isn't much more to it. Dressing and just a couple basics.

Three slices of Pepperoni and Sausage saved my life on New Year's Eve this year.

Pretty good pizza. Not amazing, but satisfying. Try the "bonez"-a braided breadstick concoction with several types of cheeses baked inside, then brushed with an herb butter mix. THAT is well worth the trip to Pyramid.
