On our last day in Kansas, we headed to Arthur Bryant's so that I could have some good ol Kansas BBQ. I have to admit: my excitement fizzled when I had two native Kansas City residents mention that they have never had Kansas BBQ. Apparently, it isn't that big of a deal to the locals. However, I do love BBQ so off we went to lunch. Since we opted to do a little shopping, we decided to go to this location. I believe that it is the newest. It was pretty empty so we were able to get our food right away. The service was good. The food? It was REALLY good. I had half of a pulled pork sandwich (delicious!) and half of a turkey sandwich. In retrospect, I probably should have skipped the turkey. It was half as delicious as the pulled pork. Sandwiches come with an order of slaw and soda. Being adventurous, I opted for the Big Red. It was like drinking pure sugar. I should have stuck with the sweet tea.

Not a fan! Not my type of BBQ! Served in butcher paper all rolled up with bread and fries. It's just a big mess. I know people who love it. The sauce is vinegar based which I hate. Check out Oklahoma joes! 39th and mission KC, Kansas it's in a gas station!

We were back in town and stopped in for a quick bite on our way from the airport. This was my first time to Arthur Bryant's. It was definitely a fun Midwest experience all around. We knew we were back in the Midwest when we ate here - slow pace, men in hunting gear and camouflage hats, larger portions.... and eaters. It felt like an experience I'd read about in a travel magazine. It was a pretty nostalgic experience for me, however. I've never been to the original location, so don't know the real Arthur Bryant experience. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with fries, the hubby got the long end ribs with baked beans. He was going to get the short end, but the guy recommended the long end. I definitely liked my pork better than the ribs and the baked beans are delicious! Each meal came with some white Wonder bread, I used to love that bread as a kid. Good Midwest Times!

I used to live in Kansas and when I recently went back to visit the first thing I wanted to do was grab BBQ and it happened at Arthur Bryant's @ Legends. I was so overwhelmed by the different meats I could choose from, but settled on the sausage and chicken combo with some potato salad and homemade lemonade. Let's just say I was not disappointed. I was so excited and missed good BBQ. I tried all the types of barbeque sauce that they had and am definitely a fan of the spicy sauce, followed by the sweet and then the original. I could've done without the original, which is unfortunate. Arthur Bryant's was a great spot for my first meal in Kansas, I'm glad we went to this spot.

Not a fan. Nice place but the bbq was way too fatty and sauces were not good.

Old school barbeque! Very quick, friendly, no-nonsense service. Portions are huge and some of the best meat I've had!

Pulled pork and burnt end were amazing. I will definitely return if ever in the area again!

The name "sandwich" on the menu is a bit misleading... as you get maybe a ton of meat sitting on a couple slices white breads. Love the flavor and the generous portion for 9 bucks. I also tried the crispy ribs with coleslaw. "Crispy" because they're a bit overcooked and dry... and I personally prefer ribs on the juicy and tender side. So I think they're made the way as described, just that I prefer something else. Also ordered Corn Dog kids meal... not healthy for sure, as it comes with fries, fountain drink and pudding/ice-cream. Not a fan of their fries, however. It's definitely more tasty than Dickey's and reasonably priced. Just another reason why I don't need to go to Jack Stack BBQ.

Was disappointed overall. I ordered a 1/2 pound of turkey, a 1/2 pound of beef, a side of potato salad, a bottle beer and glass of water. Price paid was $19. The meat was not warm. The potato salad was actually the best, followed by the beer. I won't go back. Located just a few blocks away is Famous Dave's BBQ with a greater variety and reasonable prices. Oh yes, maybe the signs saying 'no tipping' has rubbed the employees into a negative attitude type restaurant. Too many other restaurants around to go here and pay alot for a mediocore dining experience.

So I was told Arthur Bryants is KC's famous BBQ place to eat. I can see why. It was most deliious. Now, don't expect royal treatment. You actually order at the window, they slop on your order on a plate, you pay at the end of the line and find a table....and a roll of paper towels. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. Little did I know I would be given 5 slices of white wonder bread and a huge glob of pork. I opted for no side but don't think green here. I don't think there is any. Just pickles. Its all fried. Husband got a slab of ribs-delicious as well. Two thumbs up for the BBQ but bring an appetite or a large group to share meals!

This is not Kansas City BBQ at it's best. Save your money for jack's stack, Gates or Oklahoma Joes. This place is all hype...

This is one of the more prolific KC BBQ joints Unfortunately, for the KC BBQ Trifecta, not the best. Food: 3/5. Ribs/Sauce good. Beans + Coleslaw= poor. Drinks: NA Service: NA . Price: $ Interior: 3/5 (Fast Foodish) Exterior: 3/5 (Chili/Applebee's esque) Park: 5/5 (Lot) Go Back: If you can't get to Gates or Jack Stack. Recommendation: Sure. It's BBQ!!!

Having just moved to the KC area this was my first experience with Arthur Bryant's and I was a little disappointed. I don't know if I just went on an off day, but the meat was so salty I felt like I was licking a salt block. The sauce itself was also very salty as well as gritty. Maybe a future visit will give a better experience. I have heard so many great things that I am not ready to write this place off just yet.

This place is both my favorite and least favorite Bryant's BBQ location in all of KC. I have had the best and worst Barbecue at this spot. If you go during high demand times(weekends during lunch and dinner rush) you are nearly guaranteed a great Brisket sandwich (not to fatty, great smokey flavor), but if you go at an off time you are running the risk of getting an extremely fatty and nearly inedible sandwich. Sure you can take it back for a new one free of charge, but after biting into a huge piece of grizzle, do you really want to take another chance. The only down side to coming during peak hours is you are guaranteed a wait of up to (if not more) than 45 minutes. This is my love hate relationship that I have developed with this restaurant. It is so much cleaner and convenient that the other city locations for the restaurant, but you are seriously running the risk of getting a bad sandwich. Since I have started frequenting Bryant's in the Legends complex, I have on average received 80% great and 20% poor sandwiches, but honestly those 8 out of 10 times are enough to keep me coming back. As I have said if you are willing to take the risk by all means go to Bryant's because on occasion you may have one of the best smoked Brisket sandwiches of you life.

Rude staff and nasty owner. I will never spend a dime at your place. I ordered a full pork ribs for carryout at Speedway location. It was meatless, dry, extremely hard to chew and seriously overcooked. I called the restaurant and spoke with the owner. He was one of the rudest person in the world. He never apologized and blamed me not bringing the food back to them. He told me he had no solution for me. I definitely would not go there any more. Trust my words. Don't go there to waste your hard earned money. There are many real good BBQ in KC!

Arthur Bryant's was recommended to us when we first moved to KC. Our first visit was at a downtown location and it was a good experience. Busy, lunch crowd and we liked our food. The next visit was at the Legends location and I was unhappy. There was nothing exceptional about the meat. In fact, I decided that if i never enter another Arthur Bryant's again, I would not be missing anything.

This meal was almost inedible. We were expecting great things and it was pretty bad. Meat was dry and way overdone. Like warmed up yesterday's food. Was too expensive for a lunch too. Avoid this one.

Here is the second place I will visit and eat every time I come into Kansas City. Known for bar-b-q, there is nothing better than a big beef sandwich with the original Bryant's sauce. The sauce is gritty and mild but absolutely delicious. They also have good pork and ribs but recommend the beef

I'm not used to being able to have great BBQ but this was for sure best I've had! I would drive back here just to get The burnt ends again! HIGH RECOMMENDATION

Not bad for a big BBQ joint, but there are better places to go for BBQ. I would not recommend for people with small children. There are no diaper changing stations in the restaurant. Frustrating if you have a little one.

Dear Laaaawd. Whatever you do, please don't eat here. Trust me. I'm a religious Yelper. And I don't mean I will preach the gospel about anything to you...other than...do not eat here. The first time I visited this location was about 10 years ago. It was brand spanking new. It seemed like a good idea and an excellent choice. After all was said and done, we vowed not to return. Flash forward 10 years. Went during a Sporting game night. They apparently have this deal where you spend $40 there, you get a free "pass" in your window so you can park in their lot right across from the park. Seemed like an okay deal. Now, I will also say that we in fact DO have parking passes for the park, but thought this close parking seemed like a good idea. We were convinced by friends (and a fellow Yelper--shame! shame!) to eat here. The place was dirty. There were at least a dozen or possibly two dozen tables that were not bussed and full of dirty dishes and food. I get that they were slammed before we got there. But really, man, just start bussing the tables. Flies buzzing around stacked heaps of dirty dishes is not appealing. I ordered the "burnt ends" because the friendly man behind the counter egged me on with a sample. We were in a hurry so without thinking or absorbing the taste of the sample, I ordered them plus slaw and beans. Hubby got pulled pork. My "burnt ends" we're really chunks of beef, each with its own thick fatty end, covered in "BBQ" sauce which tasted much like store brand ketchup. No, not the good Heinz brand. Store brand. The slaw...well I hesitantly took a tiny bite first and thank God I didn't consume more. Worst. Slaw. Ever. Funky and sour tasting on the verge of "should have tossed me away a few days ago." The beans, although not nearly fabulous, were the highlight of the meal. The pulled pork was a massive pile of pork covered in the same "BBQ sauce which suspiciously tastes like store brand ketchup" sitting on top of a piece of white bread. This, coupled with the fact that there was no silver wear out and the empty silver wear tray on the counter was dirty and full of "crumbs" ensures I will never repeat this mistake again. Like ever.

I always prefer the downtown location as itis much better. Build in Lee's Summit or Independence and they will come. I went again today and awesome. I get the meet naked and use their Sweet Heat Bbq sauce!

I have a very open mind about barbecue, Kansas City barbecue that is and I have always like Arthur Bryants. I've eaten at the place on the East Side and enjoyed it. So my Home Skillet and I decide to mosey on in for a lunch of ribs but...they had burnt ends and I can't turn down burnt ends. The portion was HUGE and I ordered fries and some slaw. Wow! Two meals, but, I did manage to wolf it all down. I really wasn't hungry the rest of the day! Bryant's is one of my favorite sauces in Kansas City. No too sweet and I do like the tanginess. I like several other places in KC too.I will definitely be back. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy but they got us through quickly. I enjoyed a big strawberry soda too.

My wife and I were in KC for a long weekend vacation and we were by the Sporting KC stadium, which has an Arthur Bryant outlet right next door. I had HUGE expectations for this place. You enter and it is like a cafeteria line, where you get a tray and the swoosh you through. I got the pig on a bun special, which was pulled pork on a bun with some coleslaw on top. It came out quick onto the tray and I ordered a Boulevard Pale Ale to go with it. They give you a LOT of meat on top of the bun, and the coleslaw is solid, the only thing that turned me off was that there was no way you could eat this as a sandwich (EdinaProblems) The sauce was good and all that, but the pork was a little fatty, so I couldn't really taste all the awesome meat that was supposed to be underneath. The french fries looked good though, although I didn't try any. I almost wanted to steal one from a patron, just to try one of them. The beer was pretty awesome, though, I am not a huge Boulevard fan. I think the KC population doesn't like the hoppy beers as much as the Minneapolis crowd. A little more "Earthy". Good BBQ, but I had such gigantic expectations, it was like seeing Star Wars Episode 1 and saying, "Yeah, it was okay" I just wanted it to be "Blow my mind away good" I have had San Antonio BBQ, which is a 10, this would probably be 5 or 6.

Sporting KC and Bryant's are a great combination on game day. Head to the stadium 90 min early, get in line and a slab of ribs, huge turkey Sammie, pile of fries, 4 drinks, minus the $50 bill in my wallet and I've just discovered the best deal on game day. With that purchase, I have a front row parking spot for any game...and a happy family. Only wish I could guarantee a win with that purchase, but Bryant's guarantees the food... Just be careful if you wear white...Bryant's is famous for "to go" looks...that are hard to wash out...

As far as I can tell, the food is almost as good as the original location. The service left something to be desired but you only have to deal with them when you first order and pay. I had the burnt ends (of course), which were pretty good. The fries were really good, if you like them soft. And it all went really well with a mug of Boulevard Wheat! I'll be back since it's so close to home!

Our first experience here was pretty good so we came back again last night since the kids were craving ribs. However at 6:00 at night they ran out of sausages, the pulled pork had no flavor and the rack of ribs were super dry. Had to dip everything in BBQ sauce just to flavor the food.

Visited here on a business lunch. Had a visiting executive in town and I would have not been doing my job as a KC resident if I hadn't suggested BBQ. I really wanted Joe's, but I knew it would be a long wait so AB in the Legends was the other option. It was pretty quiet for nearly 1 pm on a Thursday. My two companions and I all got beef sandwiches. Total of 5 sides, 3 sandwiches, and 3 drinks between us ran a tab of over $50. Yeowch. Thankfully that was on the company dime. Next to no one in the restaurant so we got to sit wherever we wanted. My fries were the best part of the meal. My meat was really fatty and next to inedible. I also tend to prefer a sweeter sauce. AB uses a vinegar based sauce, so it's sharper on the tongue. This visit, I tried the spicier sauce and I liked it a lot better than the vinegar based one. I managed to pick my way through the meat and eat all my fries. The executive liked his meal, but I got the feeling it wasn't memorable. Sorry AB, I'm a Joe's man.

This was week 14 in "The Kansas City BBQ Tour." The pulled pork was served open face, a different feel for traditional barbecue. The meat tasted like a home made stew pork rather than barbecue, but was not bad. The sauce however was just a taste of vinegar and was pretty thin. The fries lacked good flavor and crispiness, but we're not completely dissatisfying. Over all they received a 70%.

There isn't worst barbecue in Kansas City. Horrible service, nasty fries, horribly dirty bathrooms and floors and the customer service is a joke. I would recommend McDonalds McRibs before that place. Arthur Bryan's sucks!

My girlfriend and I ate there at around 430pm today. 06/26/2015 and the food was bad and the place was dirty. Had two sandwiches which were so full of fat it was unreal! Fries were greasy and a manager asked us if things were ok so we told him and he admitted the fries were half cooked then cooked more later after people come in. So then he had them make fresh batch. Sandwiches are so full of fat. Entire floor in the place including carry out were greasy slippery floors and the restrooms were filthy with mold! Employees standing around joking and doing nothing! Seriously this place is gross! I used to love AB but not now!

This was THE WORST food ever! I was full of instant regret as soon as I was served my meal. I ate a few bites and then saw a weird tube artery looking thing poking out of the burnt ends. I stopped eating afterwards. I have felt sick all day and I keep thinking of that piece of meat. I must rid my body, mind, and soul of this meal. I will never ever return.

8/10 7:15pm, I have given this location toooo many chances. I am now completely finished with them. They do not treat ALL customers the same. I again ordered a beef sandwich at the drive thru. Not one piece of the sandwich was sliced, and again no pickles. You only get the fragments that they must save from the slicer in a cup for dog food and then pile hand squeezed clumps (literally) on bread to sell to you at the same prices. For an African American restaurant, Legends site should be as proud as their famous Brooklyn location. ALL Brooklyn patrons get the same quality because there's no one behind the scenes judging who get's the best while the Legends personnel are peaking around the corner to see who they are preparing for. Never, ever, ever again!!!!! I hope they leave and we get a honest replacement. Bye Felicia!

Very disappointed - order full slab of pork ribs and maybe had 3 bites that the pork was tasty, the rest was too salty, too dry and grisly. It was almost as if when I put the bbq sauce next to the ribs, the ribs screamed out 'Cover me! I'm thirsty!!' - it was that dry. The sides of beans and slaw were great but we came there for the ribs. Probably won't be going back unless someone else pays or order something else.

Ugh. Beans should not be the highlight of a BBQ joint. Meat was chewy and just plaim eh. Especially for KC!

This was set up like some of the great bbq smoke houses I have been to, some what cafeteria style. Well that is were the greatness kind of stopped. I got burnt ends which I had been wanting since some one mentioned it. So I got them, well they were swimming in sauce. First clue, if you have to have it swimming then it probably isn't the greatest. The slaw was supposed to be creamy but tasted more like the dry creamy with some vinegar in it, not real tasty. Service was good and draft beer was reasonably priced. Overall would not go back.

I expect that any original restaurant will have difficulty capturing its essence in a franchise. The location of Arthur Bryant's on Brooklyn Avenue is a one-of-a-kind experience, with its smoked-stained walls, it's photo collage of famous customers, where they shout at you, "half pound/ pound of meat?!?" This location has very little of that charm, but the barbecue is quite tasty nonetheless. My ham sandwich was proof of that. I only give it a strike for the atmosphere, something a new person would certainly not know or likely care about.

We visited on January 1 which may have been a mistake. After three of us ordered, the worker behind the counter started ranting as my husband was placing his order. Apparently several co-workers hadn't bothered to show up that day and he was about ready to just walk out himself. I wish he had done so before we arrived to save us from the disappointment we were about to encounter. None of us liked our meals...and they weren't cheap! The only thing even palatable was my husband's smoked turkey. Everything else went in to to-go containers and was subsequently discarded. I don't think any of us will ever risk any Arthur Bryant's location, but I strongly recommend everyone steering clear of this one. :-(

Well... At least the beans were yum-o. The ribs were pretty dry. The burnt ends were good, but a bit chewy. Also, had the pulled pork, which was good.

Worst barbecue I've had in Kansas City. This is NOT the barbecue that KC is known for! The sauce here ruins it. The food is way over priced - we paid $45 for lunch for three people.

Got a full slab of pork ribs, they where over cooked and very dry. Felt and looked more like a Arby's with the meet slicers and pickles. I have had much better ribs in Muskogee OK. My wife got a beef sliced sandwich. It was a lot of food but she said it was just ok. The BBQ sauce is not worth buying. I don't think we will return. I had high hopes with KC BBQ:(

At the legends Carinos, the place is nice. Sat in the bar area with my girlfriend. Funny bartender. Ordered the Nachos and 3 meat pizza. Nachos were great for the first 5-10 minutes like any nachos. The pizza seemed undercooked but I'm crispy person. My gf liked the pizza but nothing impressive. Side notes - Staff - good Bathrooms - average Dining area - below average Menu options - average

Having lived my entire life outside of the BBQ Belt, I'm always ready to dig into some pit-style meats. It went without question that I was not leaving KC without trying the local flavor. A friend and I stopped at this location before my flight since it's only 20 minutes from the airport. I have to say, that my first impression was disappointment. This place looks way too nice to have good BBQ. Regardless, I assumed that AB's reputation would be redeeming. I ordered the long-side ribs, and overall the meat was good. It wasn't as seasoned as I'm used to--which I'm told is the style of KC--and was a little bland for my liking, but the meat was tender and juicy. The Original BBQ Sauce however, blew my mind. It was unlike any sauce I've had. It was tangy and not as thick as I'm used to. To me it tasted like "BBQ Hot Sauce" and it was just fantastic. I took a bottle home with me. It's my understanding that KC likes to showcase its BBQ talents in its sauce. If that is true, this place nailed it. I wasn't impressed by the coleslaw, but after devouring the ribs I savored the thick bread slices that had soaked up the saucy goodness. My friend had the pulled pork which was delicious and massive in quantity. Overall, I'm glad we stopped and I was able to experience KC BBQ. However, I feel like there might be something better in town.

Nothing spectacular.. I had a beef sandwich, fries and baked beans. The beef was juicy when put on plate but dried out quickly after eating only half the sandwich. The fries were dry and all crunchy. The beans did not stand out and tasted canned. I am not sure what all the hype is about. I have lived in KC my whole life and tasted a good amount of local BBQ. My first Aurthur Bryants visit was out at the Ameristar casino location. I prefer Jacks Stack or All Slabbed Up in Leavenworth due to the personally / flavor their food has.

I am a huge Arthur Bryant's fan. I was excited to see one out at the Legends while I was out shopping there. I stopped in for lunch and have to say, it is not the same experience as the original Arthur Bryant's. To start, it is not a dive. It is a nice new building without pictures of the famous people who have been there. You don't get intimidated that if you don't know your order someone behind the line will yell at you for not being ready. The entire feel of the place is just different. The food is not the same either. I don't know if it is the difference in a smoker that is years old and filled with flavor from many years of cooking versus a new one or what makes the difference. One of the things I love about Arthur Bryant's is the flavor of the meat and that is lost at this location. The staff is friendly. The cashier ID'd me for a beer. I don't know if she ID's everyone, but it made my day and I almost forgot about the gray hairs sprouting in for a moment.

This was a BBQ meal to forget. The meat was dry. We had beef and pork sandwiches. Somewhat overpriced as well. Fries were overcooked and grease was burnt. The beans were good though. The bathrooms were unacceptable for my wife. Will make plans to eat elsewhere in the future and will never return as this has been a pattern and continues to get worse each time we visit.

I am writing from the restaurant because of my extreme distain for the way we were treated. when my husband asked about changing one of the tvs to college football (rivals week), some punk kid shrugged his shoulders and repeatedly said he had no idea how to change the channel and said the managers were busy. just so happens that my husband ran out of sweet tea and when he went for a refill the tea was empty, and the same kid was there to said "he would just have to wait." the BBQ sauce was tasty. I ordered burnt ends and he ordered pulled pork. fries were good and so were the beans. but this place is nowhere worth it. we'd rather spend our money at jack stack. t

Quite possibly the worst BBQ ribs I've ever had. They were completely bone dry...tasted like they'd been sitting in the warming bin for several hours. You'd be better off going to McDonalds for a McRib sandwich. So disappointing. Honestly, I live in Texas and have eaten a lot of good BBQ. I've tried several KC BBQ joints while here on business. I'm not sure why KC gets so much attention for BBQ. All the places I've tried are mediocre at best.
(1)
Peter D.
Every time I eat here it's to find out what everyone is so excited about. I just don't get it. The meat has no smoke. Sure, it's piled on high but its always fatty. The sauce is thick, gritty, paint stripper vinegar stuff. Old timers swear it was better when they sun cured the stuff prior to fda restrictions. Guess you had to be there? Gates has better smoke and sauce, but don't take my word on it, get both and Oklahoma Joe's. ..taste test!

Tim L.
Really disappointed with the food. Having been to the original location, this place isn't even close to being good or palatable. I don't remember it being that expensive. Of course it's a new building not the charm of the downtown location, but you would think it would pride itself on serving hot fresh food to its customers. Which neither mine or my wife's were. My beef sandwich was very fatty, the server had to move the meat around so it wasn't all fat on the plate. My wife's burnt ends were cold and the sauces were mediocre at best. AB you'll have to step up to your traditions like at the old store or word of mouth will have you shut down before you know it....

My god. I needed a wheel barrow to cart off my combo meat sandwich with burnt ends and pulled pork. Ordered one fry for wife and I to share. Too bad we didn't have a small army with us to feed. Somehow I finished the sandwich which I only regretted for the sheer volume of meat that I ingested. I had to double fist two bbq sauce bottles to make it right. Meat is always good at Bryant's. Sometimes you need to pick up a few extra slices of bread for 30c a pop to even out the meat to bread ratio.

Really solid place to visit. I really enjoyed the pit-pourri sandwich and the proportions are huge. I like the collection of sauces. This has such a different atmosphere than the downtown restaurant. It should be judged by itself. I will repeat.

Love this place. Extremely generous portions of barbeque that rivals anything else I've tried anywhere else. Sample the variety of local-made bbq sauces as well. They've got the hot ones, the mild ones, and the sweet ones. And some more. It's kind of cafeteria style dining, where you look up at the menu on the wall, grab your tray, load it up and then pay at the end. But don't let this dissuade you. You're getting more than you pay for, and the casual lunch line is deceptively plain. Quality hides behind that counter. You just have to place an order and see for yourself. Plenty of dining space and a few TVs on the wall as well. My local friends brought me here and said it was one of their top three spots. Now I can see why.

Not bad...had the ribs and the brisket. The ribs were very tasty, but a bit over cooked. Not sure I like any of the sauces, but if I had to pick...sweet and spicy. Additionally, the cole slaw was very good...I rate the 3.5.

Good BBQ is hard to find and I could not miss up on driving through Kansas City and NOT going to Arthur Bryant's. Luckily, this location is at a gorgeous outdoor mall, so I was able to combine shopping and food=good day for this lady! Burnt ends, beef briskit and ribs, baked beans and fries was on the menu for the 3 of us and we loved it all. The ribs we liked least but those brunt ends and the briskit were something! You get about a pound on two slices of toast, just how its supposed to be. Drench it with even more of their yummy sauces in the table, add beans and its some sloppy meesy goodness. Prices are fair, a pound a meat sanwich and side runs you about $10, ribs more so skip those. Service is fast, though everything is sliced and made to order while you want. Love it!

Super delicious. Got the pulled pork and it was fabulous. The bread was amazing too. Would highly suggest it to anyone visiting the area. The order process can be a little confusing but otherwise no complaints.

Very smoky barbecue with great portion sizes. This location has all of the charm of an Applebee's. Large fountain drink is nearly four dollars.

I am fortunate to not only be a certified BBQ judge, but to live in the best part of the country for any BBQ aficionado. Having said that let me preface my reviews with this comment: "the worst BBQ in the Kansas City area is usually better than the best BBQ found in the rest of the country". Also bear in mind that when one judges competition BBQ, we are trained to "Judge the meat - not the sauce". This will help explain why my reviews are so critical of the places who want to mask some deficiency in tenderness or taste by the over use of sauce. For the past few months, I have been visiting some of the most recommended BBQ joints in the Kansas City area. I am listing my 'overall' ratings at the beginning of the review for each of the establishments visited. ***** Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ ***** Danny Edwards Boulevard BBQ **** Gates **** Arthur Bryant's *** Rosedale *** Woodyard *** Smokin Joes - Olathe ** Oklahoma Joes ** Johnny's Arthur Bryant's is a solid pick but over time I have found that consistency is not a strong point. One time the ribs are great, and the next time, they are a bit overcooked and dry. AB is also one of those joints who like to go overboard with the sauce. Be forewarned, if you order burnt ends or pulled pork, the sauce is already there, and in heavy quantity. As one diner said, the pulled pork is more reminiscent of a sloppy joe. I have found that ordering the sliced pork is a better option, and you can add the "Sweet Heat" sauce as desired. This is the best of the sauce offerings. The AB hot fries with skin on are one of the better sides available.

My fave, my fave...I'm always craving Kansas City BBQ cuz I'm no longer living in KC. SO as soon as I go home I'm rushing to the nearest Arthur Bryant's. The last trip home I got ribs and burnt ends an hour after I landed, and pork and burnt ends an hour before going back to the airport to go back to San Diego. I also couldn't go home without sharing the delish BBQ sauces with friend back home...so my two faves, Sweet Heat and Bold and Spicy, came home with me.

Extremely inconsistent... Last week not bad not as good as the original store but not bad. This week absolutely horrible portions were small the turkey was cold and dry the pork was fatty and tough.. The french fries were soaked in Greece nothing good to say stick with the original store.

We took friends from out of town there and we were so embarrassed. It was not just bad....it was BY FAR THE WORST FOOD THAT WE HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't stress enough how bad it was, I was actually looking around at other people wondering how they were eating this awful awful awful food. I'll stick with Oklahoma Joes!

This place is suppose to be a big deal in the Kansas City BBQ scene, but honestly, I wasn't impressed at all. Maybe we should have gone to the original location? I doubt it would have made much of a difference. We had some burnt ends, pulled pork, beans and potato salad. All of it was bland, I've had better in Seattle. The burnt ends weren't even burnt! The pulled pork was dry, and everything else was flavorless. I tried all of the sauces on the table, and didn't like any of them. The Service was non-existent, while we were ordering, the people didn't make eye contact with us or even acknowledge us, really. The sweet tea was good, at least. The bathroom though, was disgusting. This is definitely a "chain" place and suceeding simply because of the name and the history. There are much better BBQ places in the area.

Having completed a KC BBQ Trifecta in 3 days, I have to say I was less than impressed with Arthur Bryant's. The pulled pork was acceptable, yet uninspired. The burnt ends were good, but not memorable. I left feeling like I had just parted ways with a little too much cash to support a business resting on it's laurels. Dig deeper people, better options are out there.

Meh..not impressed. Three stars as BBQ is subjective to the individual. For me this is a solid two star. The beef brisket was pretty fatty and had good taste but was a bit tough. Very impressive smoke ring. The real disappointment was the pulled pork. Strangely prepared in a wet almost slimy sauce that made the whole thing look bad and taste a little odd. I am used to pulled pork that is soft and tender but not dripping wet with little flavor. The BBQ sauces were vinegar based and good but not great. I am not a fan of the wonder bread used for the sandwiches. Not worth the wait.

Driving from MCI to Manhattan, we didn't have time to visit the original Arthur Bryant's, so we stopped at this spinoff by the speedway. My burnt ends sandwich ($9.50 with fries) wasn't up to much: the smoke level was barely detectable, so the meat was essentially overcooked brisket. Trying my friend's dishes, the ribs were much better, while the pulled pork was acceptable. Fries were fine. The table sauces were interesting: I liked the tart Original and the sweeter Rich & Spicy about equally well. The original AB's is still on my list for my dream KC-to-Memphis-to-San Antonio BBQ tour.

Haven't been to the original, although I can see where folks get the "suburban" vs. "original" differentiation here... and yeah, this is a suburban restaurant in The Legends. Place was well kept and service sped along. The folks behind the counter were pretty nice to us (and even helped talked my friend through who had a special request). Plenty of seating for the big events, and the 'Q variety was pretty good. Downsides? Gotta say, the sauce wasn't my fave. I'm more of a super sweet 'Q fan, and none of the options (original / spicy / sweet heat) really suited me that well. It's a taste thing, and obviously, taste varies. It does leave me wanting to try out the original for comparison... and given all the chain options out at the Legends, it's good to see something truly local out there.

People need to stop complaining that this isn't the same as the original location....duh! Of course it isn't! You can't open a brank new shiny place in the suburbs and expect it to have the same authentic feel of the original. But the quality of the food is pretty much on par with what everyone knows and loves. The service isn't all that friendly, but neither is it at the original location either. My burnt ends were delicious (THIS is what I was homesick for!), the baked beans were just right, and the carrot cake for dessert hit the spot. Throw in a cold Boulevard beer, and life doesn't get any better.

If you're American, borderline overweight, and hungry... this is the place to be! Walking up to the place is like a cafeteria. Order your food, and get on to the eating. I had ordered the Pulled Pork Sandwich. 4 pieces of white bread, a huge helping of delicious barbecue meat, pickles, and piled on top a crap load of fries. I had enough food for a family of 5 in Africa to enjoy a meal for one person. The only thing that annoyed me was how slow the cashier was. There was only 3 people, and they were all in a group. When it was finally my time to pay, the girl at the register ignored me. I was standing there for a good minute to minute and a half before her lethargic mind decided to ring me up. After that you can choose where you want to sit. Interesting they have a sign that states you can't save tables for anyone. Why does it even matter? I sat down and went up for my drink. I just choose water, because I need to leave room for all this food in my 140 lb frame of awesomeness. Our table had all the necessary tools for a fat person to enjoy their meal. 3 different types of BBQ sauce (Arthur's Original, Hot and Spicy, and Hot and Sweet), napkins to clean off the glazed look on your face after stuffing your hole with delicious meat, and Ketchup. I recommend the Hot and Sweet. It's the right amount of heat, yet sweet. Tackling the food was no easy feat, but a delicious one at that. The place overall has a good vibe and a good table staff that cleans up the mess people leave, and are generally friendly. If you want to celebrate America, come here and stuff your fat face in some delicious BBQ.

Huge disappointment. Being new to Kansas City I've made it a point to try the "famous" barbeque restaurants. I've been recommended Arthur Bryant's more times than I count. I know this isn't the original location but it makes me question if I SHOULD try the original. Here's why the experience was lackluster: ::: The employees were unhelpful. We explained it was our first time at Bryant's and they had no enthusiasm at all. Didn't give any suggestions. Ironic that there were signs saying "Don't tip our staff. If you get solicited for a tip your sandwich is free." They don't have to worry about me tipping. Ever. ::: The cafeteria style ordering system is set up so a cornhole can fumble with his debit card and allow your food to get cold. Why not order and pay first? ::: Possibly a victim of the hype, but the food wasn't that great. Vinegar versus Tomato based sauces is a huge debate from what I gather? My friend didn't like the vinegar sauce at all. I thought the burnt ends were okay but lackluster on four pieces of white Texas toast. The baked beans aren't half as good as other K.C. joints I've tried. My friend said the potato salad was great. I am going to give the original Arthur Bryant's a chance. I think between the unfriendly employees, the clunky ordering system, paying $27.39 for a casual meal and boring decor with no character, this location left a bad taste in my mouth. 1 Soft Drink $2.25 1 Beef/Ribs Combo $9.45 1 Burnt Ends $8.45 1 Baked Beans $2.50 1 Potato Salad $2.50 ::: TOTAL with tax $27.39 ::: Should be noted we passed multiple employees on the way to the exit without a single "Thanks for coming" or "How was everything?".

This place is horrible. Expensive and not good. Terrible service. Cold meat. Too many other good BBQ places in KC to waste a dinner here.

Dang, this place is so deplorable. All Bryant's has to its name is the original location and the ambiance (Which the new owner ruined with all the new frou frou on the exterior at the original location. But THIS location . . . . this place is just plan pathetic. Now lets be real, people usually complain that the newer building of a classic will taste different. Some idiots have said the Oklahoma Joes on 119th St taste completely different from the O'l gas station. And they are dead wrong. In fact, the 47th St locale actually PROVIDES much of the products sold @ 119th. Which only confirms the obvious. This location of Bryants though, It's clear the food sucks. The servers are horrible, and the quality of the food goes burning in a heap of fire. If you want fatty nastiness for a brisket sandwich, the original location will take care of you. If you want to eat cardboard dipped in sauce an sprinkled in raccoon fat, then this place is your huckleberry. . . . . .

We were staying in KC, KS and wanted some BBQ. My husband had heard of this place so we drove over. When I saw it was a place where you had to WAIT IN LINE to order, I wanted to leave. But when I stepped inside, the smell was incredible so we stayed. My husband wanted to get ribs and burnt ends so we did. The burnt ends were smothered in sauce and were okay but we didn't love them like the ribs. The ribs reminded us of the ribs from REndevous in Memphis. A dry rub. And they had three different types of sauce on the table. We loved them. The fries and beans were also excellent. I wish I could go back today!!

I had been to the original location several years ago, but my dear son wanted to come in since he had seen the restaurant featured on Chowdown Countdown. I know its not *quite* the same as the original, but this location was very close to where we had stopped for the night on a road trip. The actual building and dining space is pretty industrial cafeteria style, with no real character. The food was pretty much as I remembered it, that is solid barbeque, but not as good as the bbq I am used to in TX or the deep south. It could just be a style thing for me. Of the three sauces, no one in our party of 5 liked the sweet sauce, which is surprising since I normally lean toward honey barbeque. The original was a little to vinegary for 4 of us, and most found the "rich and spicy" to be the best although it wasn't hot spicy, more "flavorful" spicy. We had pulled pork, ribs and brisket. All were good, but not great. Portions were huge, and even the one Man in the group admitted that we probably could have shared. If you have a place to put the boxed leftovers for later, the pricing works out pretty well. Unfortunately since we were on the road, we did not, and subsequently a lot of the food went to waste. I have since heard that Oklahoma Joes is a great place in KC for bbq (also a chain) so we may have to try that next time around.

A lot of people recommended this place to me, so I gave it a try. I ordered the burnt ends, a KC delicacy. They should be called 'beef tips smothered in BBQ sauce' (Tex-Mex Carne Guisada style) because that is what it tasted like. I could not taste any smoke or crust, but the beef was absolutely tender. The coleslaw was just right for the combo. Maybe I had too high hopes given its reputation, but I have been to younger BBQ joints with better smoke flavor and atmosphere than Arthur Bryants. If you like to smoke meats and BBQ for 12 hours at a time, I do not recommend coming to this restaurant. I won't be back, but the table next to me said their pulled pork was amazing....probably from NC.

Horrible customer service!! Extremely rude! Jen was dropping the "f" bomb very loudly and saying she was tired and wants to go home as she was slamming dishes etc around. The food was ok but not worth the attitude that goes with it! Will not return!

In Kansas City for the first time, had to try some barbeque and this was the closest place to our hotel. I had the brisket sandwich and my mom tried the 'burnt ends' (upon my suggestion--saw on "Man vs. Food"--the dish, not this restaurant). We each got a side as well--potato salad for me and coleslaw for her. It was a little pricier than I expected, but you get a ton of food--in hindsight, we definitely should have split something (and the sides are totally extraneous). The brisket sandwich came on soft white bread, which was not at all equal to the task of containing the massive amount of meat piled in between the 2 slices--it mushed into nothingness almost immediately. I slathered it with their 'sweet heat' barbeque--yummy! The brisket itself was relatively tender and not too fatty, but wish it had been served warm (and I got the feeling it might have been sitting around a while). I could only finish half, so again--my tip would be to share (and get a bottle of the Sweet Heat BBQ sauce to go!).

In KC on business and decided to grab some bbq. Apparently, I made the wrong choice. This location really lacks any character. Just an anchor pad built in front of a shopping mall. What the building lacked in character was not made up for by the food. I had a mix of burnt ends, sausage, and ribs. The meat was not bad. The ribs were the best of the bunch. The deal breaker for me was the sauce. The "Original" sauce was just plain awful. It tasted like a bad mix of vinegar and tomato sauce. Very off putting. The "Spicy" was a bit better, but not great. Did not try the "Sweet" sauce. Not an expert, but there has to be better choices out there. Oklahoma Joe's? Jack Stacks? Buyer beware...

What can I say... It's Arthur Bryant's. It's the best BBQ in KC. While not the original location, this one is cleaner, and is super close to shopping if you'd like to go.

Great BBQ! Very smokey burnt ends. Ribs were not super meaty but great flavor. Definitely the rich and spicy sauce is the best! Made my trip to KC.

A pound and a half of various meats for what I consider dirt cheap and a four hour drive back to Omaha later and I still smell like this place and my burps still taste like the sweet and spicey bbq sauce. To say this place has won a place in my heart would be pretty accurate. I really didn't speak while eating my choices of a half a pound of ribs, a half a pound of burnt ends, and a half a pound of brisket...I was in the "good food" zone. The ribs were moist and fall-off-the-bone and the burnt ends were nice in the sauce they came in and the brisket was pretty awesome though my grandpa's is still king of briskets(too bad he's gone cuz he took his recipe with him). So the meat was pretty darn good but I will say the 3 sauces were only good. I didn't feel blown away by their sauces. I liked them...they did compliment the meat but still I didn't see them as game changers for me. They didn't stand out to me on there own but I'm in no way calling them bad cuz I still drank my lil cup of it after all the meat was gone. Yea...I drank the sauce. Its still good...just not epic or something I would set my standard to. I conclude in saying this place was a great find and a cheap find it you just plan on getting a big platter of meats by the pound and stuffing that hole drilled in your head with hot, meat-ness and sauce. It is a place I will go back to when I KC and all I can think is if this place was this good then I can only imagine what Oklahoma Joe's will be like...if I ever get to it when its open. Eat up Minions!!

Bryant's is a great place for saucy, well portioned BBQ. It doesn't have the delicacy of some other barbeque options in the area, but there is plenty of sauce and meat if you are more interested in that! Their fries are pretty bland - just basic without a lot of flavor. Taste kind of like the kind you get out of a frozen bag. However, the BBQ is what you're there for!! The burnt ends were suggested to me the last time I went there, and they were fair. There was too much sauce on there for me to really enjoy the texture/flavor of the meat - with that much sauce, it might as well have been shredded horse. I would say that Arthur Bryant's is my least favorite of the big BBQ locations in KC; I would put Ok Joe's, Jack Stack and Gates ahead of them. However, Arthur Bryant's has the most sauce out of all of them!
(3)
Jennifer C.
I think the meat here is excellent. My disappointments are the cheap white bread they put the BBQ on which quickly turns soggy and the sauce options. I want BBQ to have a kick to it and they don't have an amazing option in that regard. I think Oklahoma Joes beats them out on both fronts. Gates BBQ sauce is better than their's in my opinion. BBQ is a very personal thing. I was just hoping for something more.

Dear Mr. Bryant, What I wrote earlier was untrue and ignorant. The fine name attached to this restaurant is, indeed, worthy. My pulled pork sandwich, ribs, and beans sent me into a foodgasm that I haven't experienced since my last visit to C Withers. And it wouldn't be KC BBQ without the fine gentleman loudly barking out questions from the kitchen to me at the carryout counter. With this experience I also learned that you do things even better than the sliced BBQ sandwiches (which I won't ever order again here after trying the pulled pork + ribs). My sincerest apologies as this location has definitely earned the AB name. DREAMing of my next visit, -tom k.

Ugh. My experience here was all-over terrible. It took me a minute to figure out what the menu was tying to say... Sill not sure what they're selling. The men who served me were cranky and snapped at me while trying to order. Once I got my food and was seated, I was amazed at how salty everything was. I didn't think that much salt was medically legal. Ugh. Will NOT be going here again.

Won't be back. We had a slab of ribs and when we were finished chomping on our dried out flavorless ribs we were left wondering where the meat was. Huge disappointment. Sauces were runny.

Just had the absolutely worse BBQ chicken I have eaten in 50 years of living. The skin was like leather and the chicken itself was as dry as sand. Worse than that was the attitude of Donna - the shift leader- when I informed her of it. "well it's fresh" & "I don't eat chicken, so I don't know" & the best one (at 11:35 am) "nobody else has complained about it today". I won't be back here for sure. Terribly disappointing.

Was back in KC for the first time in a while and the wife wanted to experience some KC BBQ. Considered Oklahoma Joe's as well but settled for AB because it was closer. Nice menu, easy to read. ALL the employees were nice and helpful. Four of us in total. Two got beef sandwiches, one got pulled pork and one chicken. Sides, beans and fries were good. Fries were a little soggy... too much grease. Beans were delicious. Beef sandwich was fantastic. Only gripe was the basic white bread. Can't hold up to all that beef/juice. Maybe toast it first? Just a thought. Three different sauce choices on table. All good. Appear to be vinegar based. Pale Ale in ICE cold mugs is a plus. Only real knock was the chicken. It was exceptionally dry. Probably the driest BBQ chicken I've tasted. Wife's pulled pork wasn't the best either. All in all, very good.

Not a fan. I just discovered that I, like my mother, am a BBQ snob. I don't like my meat pre-sauced. I want to put it on! Potato salad was good, coleslaw was good, beans ok. Meat was just a sloppy mess with too much sauce and far too much liquid smoke. Servings were waaaay too big. Just not a fan.

Pit-pourri Sandwich made me its bitch. Its basically burnt ends of all kinds....the end pieces of all the meats they serve. Highly recommend it if you are a burnt ends fan.

Wow, I got burnt ends here and let me just say that they did not deliver one tiny tiny bit. It reminded me of wet dog food. What I got were cubes of pork that were very obviously not sliced and chopped up like they do at gates. I have a strong suspicion that this meat came pre-packaged. Arthur, you disappointed. On the plus side, the lovely lady at the drive through gave us a free coke so I will give AB's two stars because of that.

Visited the Kansas City, Kansas location to get some (relatively) local eats. The service is cafeteria style, very quick, efficient and casual. All the servers in the line were very helpful and friendly. The food was good. I had the burnt ends. The meat was full of flavor - I love the rubs that the KC joints tend use. The sauce was very good, although there was too much sauce in my opinion. Overall taste was slightly spicy which I enjoyed. My wife had the pulled pork, it was drowning in sauce - we'd rather taste the meat and add sauce to enhance the flavor. Would recommend if you are in the area. Would not consider this a destination restaurant.

This was THE most disgusting restaurant I've ever had the unfortunate luck of dining at. I cannot see HOW anyone likes the nasty gross (and cold) sausage or lame bbq sauce. Not to mention the employees are complete trash! I will never, never, never set foot in another Arthur Bryant's and wouldn't even feed it to my dog! They also unlawfully towed my friend's car who was parked in the common parking space with Bob Evans (where we'd been for most of the night) and she had to pay over $300 to get her car out. The old, haggard woman employee working behind the to-go counter didn't give a crap about the mistake she'd made in towing my friend's car. They had NO right to do that since that parking lot is shared with at least 2 other restaurants and they just assumed we were parked in their lot, when in fact we were parked NEAR their restaurant but not in a lot solely for their customers. They should strongly reconsider how flagrant they are about calling towing companies out if they cannot PROVE that a car is parked illegally. Arthur Bryant's sucks!! What a disgrace to Kansas City barbecue!

Thought it was great! We accidentally came in late--just before closing (we got confused by the time zone change) and they were really nice about it. Gave good recommendations to us when we weren't sure what or how much to order for our party. Delicious ribs.

Ordered full slab and pulled pork. Loved it when they didn't smother the slab with sauce. Those ribs were pretty awesome. Pulled pork was good. Sauces ranged from sweet/spicy to reddish mustard/spicy sauce. Not sure it was mustard like you can get in Florida.. All was very good and the Resturant was very clean. Employees were all very nice.

Didn't get their best I suspect. St. Louis cut spare ribs were very dry. Sauces were good. Fries were mushy. They get a third star because of the sausage, sliced very thin, slightly spicy with a nice smoke ring. Just good BBQ. I'll give the ribs another shot sometime, as I think the ones I got just weren't fresh.

Lesson learned! From now on when I go home, it will be worth the extra time to go to 18th street. I figured all of AB was created equally, well not the case. The brisket we got was somewhat fatty and that was disappointing considering that I could not return it, hell airplane. From now on, i will go to the one on 18th street.

My family and I went here for the first time having just moved to the area. We ordered the full slab and we were disappointed. Dry, tough, tasteless, and not worth it. Don't waste your time and money. We will not go here again.

I was so psyched to finally try some arthur Bryants BBQ and finally got my chance this past weekend. There were a few things that really surpised me right off the bat. Main that is really isn't a restaurant - like you go in and sit down and get waited on type of restaurant. It was a place that you order in a line and then get your food and then pay at the end of the line and go find your own seat type of place. That threw me for a loop. Also most of the bbq joints I've ben to have a nice large sleection of food -even "some" fish - but this place didn't have any. Really just all meat - so if there is a vegetarian or personal who dont eat chicken or red emat in your party - they are really screwed at tis place. I got the emat combo (pulled pork and burnt ends). I remmber seeing on tv posts that everyone says "get the burnt ends" and that the pulled pork was good to. I thought the pulled pork was good and the burned ends were "ok". At the table there are 3 kinds of bbq sauce you can devour your meat in and enjoy - which I did. The suaces were fine but nothing sootd out to me to be really grand. Just basic. I won't rip the place because I did enjoy the food I got and so did my daughter with her kids meal bbq ribs. My wife however just got a plate of sweet potatie fries and cole slaw as she dont do meat - just fish and like I said ealier - they don't have any there. Glad I tried Arthur BRyants but to me it is not a place I will go to everytime I'm in KC - just really didn't do anything special for me like I had hoped. Hence my 2/5 stars rating (technically I'd give it a 2.5/5).

Although I would have rather visited the original location since they lend themselves to a more authentic experience, time and location dictated which one I chose. Full disclosure: I have eaten bbq in every state where it matters, and some where it doesn't, so I consider myself to be somewhat of an "expert." Even though I had plans to eat at this restaurant in advance, I was starving whilst watching the football game across the street, and ate a burger beforehand. However, I wasn't about to let that set me back so I got a combo plate to go, planning to eat it much later in the evening. I put it in my trunk but could smell it all the way to Lawrence and my hotel a half hour away. I was tired from day drinking during the game and was going to take a nap, but turned on the TV instead and watched Shaq compete in a hotdog eating contest. I guess that inspired me to break out the Q since it was still a little warm. The brisket was lean and melted in my mouth. I first tried a rib dry, and found it to have a magical simplicity to it. I then dipped it in the sauce and wished I had bought a jug to bring home. My only complaint was that I didn't have any leftovers.

We were staying at the Great Wolf Lodge near the Speedway and needed a quick lunch. Ran into Arthur Bryants and picked up a ton of stuff for the gang. The order was brisket, burnt ends and Pulled Pork along with fries, slaw and beans. In general, it was a good meal. The highlights for me were the burnt ends which were tender after having a bath in a BBQ Sauce as well as the fries which were fresh cut (I'm a sucker for fresh cut fries(. The brisket was good, but was extremely fatty (not just cap fat, but fat intertwined in the meat). The pulled pork was spicy and a couple in the group didnt care for that. Same went for the beans. Overall, a good meal quick but not on the top rung for me.

This meal was almost inedible. We were expecting great things and it was pretty bad. Meat was dry and way overdone. Like warmed up yesterday's food. Was too expensive for a lunch too. Avoid this one.

Food and service sucked sauces way too spicy don't go Jack Stack barbecue is way better

Hmm.. tried to hit up the "TOP DISH" in all of KC per pitch before a sporting match.. hmm.... I am BBQ snobbish, but man boys, your brisqette sando is supposed be topnoth?? Sloppy, but not in a good way.. very UNDERWELMED

(2)

Pit-pourri Sandwich made me its bitch. Its basically burnt ends of all kinds....the end pieces of all the meats they serve. Highly recommend it if you are a burnt ends fan.
(4)
Will B.

(4)
Nicholas B.

Not bad for a big BBQ joint, but there are better places to go for BBQ. I would not recommend for people with small children. There are no diaper changing stations in the restaurant. Frustrating if you have a little one.

Here is the second place I will visit and eat every time I come into Kansas City. Known for bar-b-q, there is nothing better than a big beef sandwich with the original Bryant's sauce. The sauce is gritty and mild but absolutely delicious. They also have good pork and ribs but recommend the beef

Like ever.

(3)
Nicholas K.

(2)Dee F.

(1)Justin M.
This place always knocks my socks off. Great BBQ and large portion of fries. Yum!
(5)Anush J.
(2)Bill C.
This meal was almost inedible. We were expecting great things and it was pretty bad. Meat was dry and way overdone. Like warmed up yesterday's food. Was too expensive for a lunch too. Avoid this one.
(1)Sam C.
Here is the second place I will visit and eat every time I come into Kansas City. Known for bar-b-q, there is nothing better than a big beef sandwich with the original Bryant's sauce. The sauce is gritty and mild but absolutely delicious. They also have good pork and ribs but recommend the beef
(5)Josh A.
I'm not used to being able to have great BBQ but this was for sure best I've had! I would drive back here just to get The burnt ends again! HIGH RECOMMENDATION
(5)Dale V.
Not bad for a big BBQ joint, but there are better places to go for BBQ. I would not recommend for people with small children. There are no diaper changing stations in the restaurant. Frustrating if you have a little one.
(3)Tracy I.
Like ever.
(1)Thom S.
I always prefer the downtown location as itis much better. Build in Lee's Summit or Independence and they will come. I went again today and awesome. I get the meet naked and use their Sweet Heat Bbq sauce!
(5)Thomas A.
(4)Jason K.
(3)Mike W.
(5)Matthew N.
(4)Ellen K.
Our first experience here was pretty good so we came back again last night since the kids were craving ribs. However at 6:00 at night they ran out of sausages, the pulled pork had no flavor and the rack of ribs were super dry. Had to dip everything in BBQ sauce just to flavor the food.
(3)Jarrod V.
(3)Matt M.
(3)Tony T.
There isn't worst barbecue in Kansas City. Horrible service, nasty fries, horribly dirty bathrooms and floors and the customer service is a joke. I would recommend McDonalds McRibs before that place. Arthur Bryan's sucks!
(1)James M.
(1)Victoria H.
(1)Beth N.
Loved it!!! My husband got the pig on a bun. Oh my, it made him happy!!! I had the sausage sandwich, not what I expected but yummy!!! Need to try the ribs next!!
(4)Kimberly P.
Very poor customer service, rude, and very dirty !! Food was not even good. Was driving through Kansas City wanted a good bbq place was not what we expected, would not be put on the " top 10" places to eat !! I will not be eating here again !!
(1)Se H.

I miss KC BBQ! - Elliott Ludy
(5)Nicholas K.
(2)Jessica S.
Ugh. Beans should not be the highlight of a BBQ joint. Meat was chewy and just plaim eh. Especially for KC!
(2)Darwin H.
(2)John D.
(4)Sheri S.
(1)Jaymee A.
Well... At least the beans were yum-o. The ribs were pretty dry. The burnt ends were good, but a bit chewy. Also, had the pulled pork, which was good.
(2)Jenny J.
Worst barbecue I've had in Kansas City. This is NOT the barbecue that KC is known for! The sauce here ruins it. The food is way over priced - we paid $45 for lunch for three people.
(1)Paul L.
I had high hopes with KC BBQ:(
(2)John M.

(3)Chris B.
(2)Billie H.
(3)William B.
(2)Wendi C.
I ordered burnt ends and he ordered pulled pork. fries were good and so were the beans. but this place is nowhere worth it. we'd rather spend our money at jack stack. t
(2)Mike S.
(1)Peter D.
(3)Tim L.
(2)Justin E.
(4)Jeff P.
Really solid place to visit. I really enjoyed the pit-pourri sandwich and the proportions are huge. I like the collection of sauces. This has such a different atmosphere than the downtown restaurant. It should be judged by itself. I will repeat.
(5)Steven S.
(5)Ron D.
Food and service sucked sauces way too spicy don't go Jack Stack barbecue is way better
(1)Thomas M.
Not bad...had the ribs and the brisket. The ribs were very tasty, but a bit over cooked. Not sure I like any of the sauces, but if I had to pick...sweet and spicy. Additionally, the cole slaw was very good...I rate the 3.5.
(3)Nijole T.
Love it!
(5)Sydney L.
Super delicious. Got the pulled pork and it was fabulous. The bread was amazing too. Would highly suggest it to anyone visiting the area. The order process can be a little confusing but otherwise no complaints.
(5)Mr. G.
Very smoky barbecue with great portion sizes. This location has all of the charm of an Applebee's. Large fountain drink is nearly four dollars.
(3)IJudge Q.
(4)Grace B.
(4)Ranay S.
Extremely inconsistent... Last week not bad not as good as the original store but not bad. This week absolutely horrible portions were small the turkey was cold and dry the pork was fatty and tough.. The french fries were soaked in Greece nothing good to say stick with the original store.
(1)Mrs T.
(1)Kristin C.
(2)Chris M.
(3)Nathan T.
(3)Brad L.
(3)Troy D.

(1)Kev L.

(3)Jason A.
(2)Drue N.
Horrible customer service!! Extremely rude! Jen was dropping the "f" bomb very loudly and saying she was tired and wants to go home as she was slamming dishes etc around. The food was ok but not worth the attitude that goes with it! Will not return!
(1)Sarah F.

(2)Rodeo G.
Hmm.. tried to hit up the "TOP DISH" in all of KC per pitch before a sporting match.. hmm.... I am BBQ snobbish, but man boys, your brisqette sando is supposed be topnoth?? Sloppy, but not in a good way.. very UNDERWELMED
(3)Erin F.
Delicious BBQ, great atmosphere, great service. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing!
(4)Matt T.
What can I say... It's Arthur Bryant's. It's the best BBQ in KC. While not the original location, this one is cleaner, and is super close to shopping if you'd like to go.
(5)Krist W.
Great BBQ! Very smokey burnt ends. Ribs were not super meaty but great flavor. Definitely the rich and spicy sauce is the best! Made my trip to KC.
(4)Ramon B.
(4)Clayton R.
(3)Jennifer C.
(3)Tom K.
(5)Kara B.
(1)Ande D.
Won't be back. We had a slab of ribs and when we were finished chomping on our dried out flavorless ribs we were left wondering where the meat was. Huge disappointment. Sauces were runny.
(1)GW M.
(1)David P.
(4)Wendy E.
(2)Meg L.
Pit-pourri Sandwich made me its bitch. Its basically burnt ends of all kinds....the end pieces of all the meats they serve. Highly recommend it if you are a burnt ends fan.
(4)Will B.
(2)Jim P.

Excellent smoked brisket sandwich. Tasty fresh coleslaw. A bit expensive but good quality.
(4)C T.
(1)Julie C.
Thought it was great! We accidentally came in late--just before closing (we got confused by the time zone change) and they were really nice about it. Gave good recommendations to us when we weren't sure what or how much to order for our party. Delicious ribs.
(5)s b.
(4)Nicholas B.
(3)Stacy B.
(3)Ed W.
My family and I went here for the first time having just moved to the area. We ordered the full slab and we were disappointed. Dry, tough, tasteless, and not worth it. Don't waste your time and money. We will not go here again.
(1)Lou M.
(2)Mike P.

(4)John M.

(3)Bill C.
This meal was almost inedible. We were expecting great things and it was pretty bad. Meat was dry and way overdone. Like warmed up yesterday's food. Was too expensive for a lunch too. Avoid this one.
(1)Chris B.
(2)Billie H.
(3)William B.
(2)Wendi C.
I ordered burnt ends and he ordered pulled pork. fries were good and so were the beans. but this place is nowhere worth it. we'd rather spend our money at jack stack. t
(2)Mike S.
(1)Peter D.
(3)Tim L.
(2)Justin E.
(4)Jeff P.
Really solid place to visit. I really enjoyed the pit-pourri sandwich and the proportions are huge. I like the collection of sauces. This has such a different atmosphere than the downtown restaurant. It should be judged by itself. I will repeat.
(5)Steven S.

Love it!
(5)Sydney L.
Super delicious. Got the pulled pork and it was fabulous. The bread was amazing too. Would highly suggest it to anyone visiting the area. The order process can be a little confusing but otherwise no complaints.

(4)Ranay S.
Extremely inconsistent... Last week not bad not as good as the original store but not bad. This week absolutely horrible portions were small the turkey was cold and dry the pork was fatty and tough.. The french fries were soaked in Greece nothing good to say stick with the original store.
(1)Mrs T.

(2)Chris M.
(3)Nathan T.
(3)Troy D.
(3)Dawn R.

(3)Mike P.

(1)Kev L.

(5)Kim M.
(3)Jason A.
(2)Drue N.
Horrible customer service!! Extremely rude! Jen was dropping the "f" bomb very loudly and saying she was tired and wants to go home as she was slamming dishes etc around. The food was ok but not worth the attitude that goes with it! Will not return!
(1)Sarah F.
(3)Christopher T.
(2)Rodeo G.
Hmm.. tried to hit up the "TOP DISH" in all of KC per pitch before a sporting match..
(4)Ramon B.
(4)Clayton R.
(3)Jennifer C.
(3)Tom K.
(5)Kara B.
(1)Ande D.
Won't be back. We had a slab of ribs and when we were finished chomping on our dried out flavorless ribs we were left wondering where the meat was. Huge disappointment. Sauces were runny.
(1)David P.
(4)Wendy E.
(2)Meg L.
Pit-pourri Sandwich made me its bitch. Its basically burnt ends of all kinds....the end pieces of all the meats they serve. Highly recommend it if you are a burnt ends fan.
(4)Will B.
(2)Jim P.
(3)c g.
Excellent smoked brisket sandwich. Tasty fresh coleslaw. A bit expensive but good quality.
(4)C T.
(1)Julie C.
Thought it was great! We accidentally came in late--just before closing (we got confused by the time zone change) and they were really nice about it. Gave good recommendations to us when we weren't sure what or how much to order for our party. Delicious ribs.
(5)s b.
(4)Nicholas B.
(3)Stacy B.
(3)Ed W.
My family and I went here for the first time having just moved to the area. We ordered the full slab and we were disappointed. Dry, tough, tasteless, and not worth it. Don't waste your time and money. We will not go here again.
(1)Lou M.
(2)Mike P.

(4)GW M.
(1)Misse D.
(4)Chris B.

(2)Jesse T.
Old school barbeque! Very quick, friendly, no-nonsense service. Portions are huge and some of the best meat I've had!
(5)Nick R.
Pulled pork and burnt end were amazing. I will definitely return if ever in the area again!

(2)Dee F.

This place always knocks my socks off. Great BBQ and large portion of fries. Yum!
(5)Anush J.
(2)Dale V.
Not bad for a big BBQ joint, but there are better places to go for BBQ. I would not recommend for people with small children. There are no diaper changing stations in the restaurant. Frustrating if you have a little one.
(3)Sam C.

(5)Matthew N.

(3)Nicholas K.
(2)Jessica S.
Ugh. Beans should not be the highlight of a BBQ joint. Meat was chewy and just plaim eh. Especially for KC!
(2)Jarrod V.

(3)Tony T.
There isn't worst barbecue in Kansas City. Horrible service, nasty fries, horribly dirty bathrooms and floors and the customer service is a joke. I would recommend McDonalds McRibs before that place. Arthur Bryan's sucks!
(1)James M.
(1)Victoria H.
(1)Beth N.
(1)Darwin H.
(2)John D.
(4)Sheri S.
(1)Jaymee A.
(1)Paul L.
