Best biscuit and gravy ever had thus far and very tasty chocolate chip pancake! Did not disappoint. Will definitely return :)

The food was very good. We are a military family on orders going to our next unit. We stopped into Pheasant Run on our way across country because we like to support local businesses. We were excited to see all the waitstaff wearing shirts that supported our troops on "Red Friday". What greatly disappointed us was when we asked if they had a military discount they said "no". I'm hoping the shirts are not just for show and this business gives money through charity to our troops. Otherwise how are you as a business "supporting our troops"?

This place had potential, but fell short. The coffee was bad, the orange juice was served luke warm, the wait staff was average, and they had no biscuits and gravy on the menu! I probably would not revisit unless it was the only thing open.

Well, we were hoping for something amazing but got...meh! Had to wait forever just to get in the door. Then...it took forever to get our food. It was passable food but nothing I would go out of my way for again.

I am sitting a table in the back of pheasant run. It took them almost an hour to seat us we had a group of six and they sat at least ten people that got there after us before us. When we finally were seated we only had to wait 10minuets for our drinks. We have been sitting here for an hour waiting for our food. I was told that the food here was really good but if I doesn't get here in the next ten minuets we will walk out. It is a Sunday morning so I get that there is a rush but they wait staff is unorganized and inefficient. We finely hot our food and my biscuits and bacon were burnt and the eggs were way over cooked. I do not recommend this place to anyone!

Everything you expect from a small town hole in the wall American diner: delicious hot coffee, huge servings, friendly wait staff, and a loud pleasantly packed seating area. If you're looking for good food and lots of it this is your spot in Hays!

Stopped in here while traveling to Denver. It wasn't pretty and fancy but it was clean, the staff was very friendly and the food was fresh and real. Nothing looked or tasted froZen or premade. We both had omelets that we perfectly sized and filled with fresh vegetables. If you're looking for a simple breakfast that's not from a chain restaurant this is a great stop.

The service was good on a crowded Sunday morning, but the food was not very good. Kinda pricey also!!

Cute little hole in the wall. I ordered an egg white omelette with a request to substitute bacon for ham. The wait was probably normal length of time, but my food, including hash browns and pancakes were cold. Also my omelette was not made with the requested substituted bacon. Wish we had gone to K's Diner after all.

Great food, as always but there was an employee standing in the back corner with her purse ON TOP OF the clean silverware holder beside the piles of napkins. This is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. Purses are dragged everywhere - imagine the germs and dirt that collect on that thing. I don't want that in my mouth.

It's all that I could ask for when stopping in a place I've never been to close to the Interstate. Mostly a breakfast and sandwich shop. Lite lunch includes a half sandwich, soup, salad or a slice of pie and tea or coffee. This was only $5.60. The BLT was tasty but the Midwest salad was the usual pile of green leaves, croutons with a side of dressing. If you've never been to the Midwest before, the most important thing you can do for yourself is have a slice of pie. It's really what this type of joint is best at.

Very serious about breakfast here. Nothing fancy, just coffee, pancakes and eggs, just like any good morning shop. They had German Yoder sausage, which was ok, little dry. Eggs Benedict had a sauce that was reminiscent of American cheese. Would come back.

DON'T CARRY YOUR MAN-BAG INTO THIS PLACE: I decided to go to Pheasant Run because it seemed like a local non-chain kind of place. The dismal reality is that the chains would have done a better job. First the positives: it's not a chain, they have WIFI, and it seems like a lot of locals eat breakfast here. Now the rest of the story: It's menu is very ordinary, and its environs a bit scruffy. WHAT WE ORDERED: I had the breakfast special that included eggs, meat and pancakes. My breakfast companion had the corned beef hash, eggs and toast. Nothing memorable or special about either order. FOOD: C- Really nothing more than cooking up what the restaurant supply place delivers. The pancakes were NOT served with butter, but lemon-yellow grease A/K/A "spread." I asked if the side of fruit was fresh. "Yes," said our server, enthusiastically. It was canned. I asked about the choice of sausage links vs. patties. "Links," she said, with strong reassurance, indicating a favoritism to links. The links were nothing special at all--just standard little links that were on the dry side. I paid a bit extra for the "apple pancakes." Basic pancakes smeared with a generous dollop of tepid canned apple-pie filling. SERVICE: We were seated fairly soon after arriving. Our server was polite and helpful, but not very knowledgeable (see above). No major complaints or compliments. ATMOSPHERE: On a Monday morning, we saw a lot of local retirement-age people. I got the sense that this place has a lot of regulars from the home turf. It is not a "hipster" group of people. There is nothing special about the design or decor of this place. It is Great Plains Plain--all put together cheap by somebody's brother-in-law with help from Home Depot and Dollar General. Don't come to this place for the food or service. If you want a small glimpse into what the locals find satisfying, this is your place. No Next Time for this place in my book of accounts. Sorry.

no thrills, straight to the point, Low end Cheep breakfast that doest the trick, as I-hop is the only other sit down breakfast in town, if you go in early not a place to sit and drink coffee as they will push you out to seat more people. But overall a good place to eat in Hays for breakfast only.

After eating motel breakfasts the last several days, this was a treat. I had eggs, bacon, hash browns and pancakes. All were good. The bacon was crisp, the pancakes tasty, and the hash browns were not greasy. Yeah, it's a typical small-town Kansas restaurant frequented mostly by locals, but nothing wrong with that. I'd eat here again.

I have gone here a couple times (brought by someone when moving here and once to give them a second chance). Each time I have had breakfast. Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, coffee and toast. I would go out to the interstate (about a half mile) and go to ihop. It is cheaper and the food is better. I am a big coffee drinker and this coffee was about the same as instant, except maybe worse! It was awful! The eggs were a bit runnier than I like for medium, the hash was greasy and not cooked well. The bacon was not cooked through. There was a group of old times in the back when I came in (looked like they were just socializing) and two other tables. It still took 5 minutes for the waitress to come over. On a good note, it did not take long to get my food. But the food was terrible. I think I will either try somewhere else or go to Ihop next time.

Good breakfast except the biscuits were old. A little expensive but a great meal before hitting the road. Lots of older locals eat here. Nice breakfast diner setting.

A very OK boring breakfast but it hit the spot, I was starving, it should have been awesome! I did 2 eggs over easy with hashbrowns & sausage, the eggs were cooked perfect, the hashbrowns were fair but the sausage was wafer thin & overcooked. I had the "should have went to the pancake house" after eating here. At least my father-in-law recommended it & picked up the bill(hah).

My husband and I were on a road trip from TX to CO and spent the night in Hays. We wanted a hearty brunch before hitting the road for a full day of driving. There aren't a lot of sit down breakfast options in Hays, and we like to try out local fare, so when we drove past Pheasant Run Pancake House we decided to give it a go. The parking lot was full of locals, which we hoped meant good food with a local following. The patrons were a mix of elderly couples and families. The feel was definitely small town with dark paneling and dated decor. The service was friendly but slow because each server had many tables. I had the cinnamon pancakes and my hubby had a combination plate with eggs, hash browns, the pork steak and pancakes. My cinnamon pancakes were large, fluffy and fairly tasty, but I was expecting cinnamon batter. Instead, there was cinnamon sugar sprinkled on the top. My husband rated his plate as ok as well. The pork steak lacked flavor. Overall, it was decent meal and easy on the wallet. If you are looking for a quick meal or a memorable breakfast, this isn't the restaurant for you. If you want a little taste of Hays at a reasonable price, check out Pheasant Run.
