Super friendly staff. Good beef. Sides were good. Salad and starters were meh. Steak cooked just right

Had to wait to be seated even though more than half the restaurant was empty. SLOW service and clueless staff. Bartender was awesome and we stayed there to eat instead of waiting for a table.

My wife and I live in emporia and believe in second chances. That's why once a year we give Montana mikes "one more try". Well, disappointment reared its ugly head again. Service was slow even though less than half the restaurant was full. Ordered onion rings that came out in large clumps of mostly uncooked batter...even the manager knew it was an issue prior to serving them; you know it's trouble when you're told they're gonna be comped and here's a token for a free appetizer next time even before they hit your table. The main courses were just mediocre. Mountain top chicken over cooked green beans way over done. Chicken fried chicken sandwich was dry and barely a smattering of fries to accompany it. At least our waitress was nice. I'm sure she'd been through it before and was very apologetic. Have a feeling that free token for appetizers on the next trip won't ever see the light of day.

Well can't say I haven't had bad spin off meals before but this place was not good.. Steak was not what I was looking for (served as if I ordered from a place that doesn't do steAks) poor quality steak and service was horrid , didn't get order correct , forgot stuff , timing of bring out food/appetizers not well thought out .. Quality just not good .was suppose to get desert they just plan old never brought it out... I hope it was just a off night for staff .

Well, let's see. My partner and I both ordered our sirloins medium rare and his came out perfect and mine was raw in the middle. Our server came by and I ask to send my steak back and she agreed. When it came back out, it looked like they rubbed oil on it and sent it back out. Ribs were bleh, salads were mediocre. Our service was great, she did an excellent job and was very accommodating. Probably wont be back through Emporia but I wouldn't come back here even if I was!

After reading average reviews about this place, we almost didn't stop on our way back to KC. Glad we did. The service was excellent and very attentive. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and we had way too much food. So glad we stopped.

HUGE steaks and prime rib! i ate here twice in one week when i was on a business trip. the steaks are so tasty and perfectly cooked. the sides of potato and vegetables are equally as mouthwatering. soup AND salad...not OR. AND...DESSERT all for less than $20!! the bread is also very warm and filling (kinda like the bran bread from outback). the wait staff are super friendly and most of them are college students. well come to think of it, all people in kansas are generally really nice and friendly. since emporia is not the most popular destination, you will probably disregard this review. but if your company or family just so happens to require your presence in this area...you can thank me later ;)

I just moved to Kansas from florida for work, the first time dining here was great, the steak tasted unlike any other beef I've ever tasted, I came back three times after that, every time I got my steak it was overcooked , sad.

This place was awful. The food is terrible. The management is not knowledgeable. Can you imagine setting a sirloin down in front of a man who ordered a filet. Better yet can you imagine bring the chef that wrapped the sirloin in bacon instead of tge filet. - Wait it gets better- as I'm cutting what's supposed to be my eight year olds sirloin and he's complaining that it looks like a big hunk of meat with disdain in his voice. I decide this looks nothing like an 8 oz. sirloin. I take a bite and realize its the filet cooked med rare like the sirloin is ordered. The filet was supposed to be med well no pink. I call the waitress over she gets manager, the manager does absolutely nothing. I mean nothing. Says her meat cutter cut these. Wow I am stunned. I suggest she brings the full grown man something other than that sirloin. She did nothing. No price fix no nothing. My son ate the filet actually didn't like it and the grown man ate the sirloin. On top of everything the meat is select at best and my guess is its frozen when thrown on the grill. Yuck yuck yuck. Ponderosa quality without the salad bar.

Chose this restaurant because of its location. I ordered salmon and the ginger sauce was good. The sweet potato was burned and sugar had been added to the veggies. Not to my taste. The wait staff was nice and they had a bar. Not much else appealed.

I ordered a 12 oz. ribeye, and am 99% sure they gave me a sirloin instead. The meat was too lean and flavourless. Even if not seasoned properly, a ribeye that isn't overcooked rarely warrants steak sauce. I inquired of our waitress, Nicole, if she was sure that she had brought me a ribeye and not a sirloin. She commented that she didn't know the difference and relied on the cooks to use the right meat. I commented that I was pretty sure that what I received was not what I had ordered. She promised to send a manager that never came, When the check came, Nicole got an 8 cent tip.

Well I ate here last Sat nite. It's a decent place. My friend steak was huge. She ate 2 bites. lol But it look amazingly good! I ordered Chicken fried steak and was very satisfied. Although it didn't have a huge amount of flavor. But it was large, and plenty of white gravy, which is what it's all about with CFS right? yep. All in all, I'll give it 4 stars. Not outstanding, but I have nothing bad to say about it. Our college age server was friendly and efficient and cute. ;) OH and props for serving PEPSI products!
