The best thing about road trips is finding hidden gems just off the road. The worst thing about road trips is finding great places that you know you might never visit again. If I could only dine in Emporia once, I'm glad that do-B's is the place I managed to find. (Thank you, Yelp!) I honestly hope that I get another chance to eat here, if only to tell the owners thank you for the food and service once again. And maybe to have another portion of that delicious pound cake! Simple food. Burgers, fries, cheesesteaks, and po'boys. The burgers are served on thick potato rolls, the sandwiches are on Amoroso rolls. Even better, the ice cream is Bryers and is blended into delicious shakes or is served hard, so you have time to enjoy it before it melts. I might not make it back, but my boy and I will remain fans! Thank you especially to Leslie, who took a few moments of her busy day to admire my son's LEGO creations. It was a sweet moment in his day!

Insane Hornet burger stacked with grilled fresh jalapenos and cheese to the moon. And a shrimp po boy that was totally legit. Really good fries, too. These folks have enthusiasm and passion for the food and the work. Just watching how carefully they assemble, cut and wrap the food... it is painstaking. And it shows in the flavors. You get just about everything in every bite. Wow. What a great lunch!

This is a very family friendly place. When we were there, the TV was playing a bugs bunny cartoon and they have one kids table available. They have a tree swing and picnic table out front under a shade tree! Staff is very friendly, appears to be family and seem to know everyone.

Really good, quality food and incredibly friendly service. My wife and I both really enjoyed the buffalo chicken salad (although a bit spicy for her) and the kids gobbled down their burgers and chicken nuggets. Can't wait to come back. Will probably try a po boy next time. They smell delicious.

This place has some of the best burgers in town! They have a nice selection of philly cheesesteaks, burgers, and po' boys. It is a small mom and pop kind of restaurant. Everything is made to order so expect to wait a little bit if it is busy, but it is definitely worth the wait! You can call in an order.

Awesome food, our whole family loved it. The food would rival any kc diner. I feel 100% stuffed, it was delicious. We loved our shrimp po boy

I ended up here at the recommendation of the other Yelpers, and yelp: it's delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even in the face of my indecision. I ended up ordering the Buffalo Chicken Steak (Philly Cheese Steak-inspired with blue cheese crumbles and an amazing house-made buffalo sauce), and WOW. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Ever. Don't miss eating here if you can help it. Road trippers, the bathroom is outside and around the corner- but it's the cleanest outside and around the corner bathroom I've seen.

Unbelievable po boys! Try the Hornet. Why hasn't this place been featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives yet?

Amazing. Worth driving a long way for a place like this. I had burnt end Philly cheese steak and it was delicious - I was skeptical because it's not a BBQ place but it was great. Also tried the normal Philly and it was great too. Fries ok but onion rings and cheese bites were so yummy!!! Another had a salad and I almost wish I had ordered that instead. Homemade dressing and real lettuce. They were Soooooo friendly and great people working there. If you have to be in emporia, stop here!!! it's in an old dq but appearances can be deceptive...so glad it's this place and not a dq anymore!

When you're in Kansas you know you're over the rainbow when you order Do-B's 'Hot Chef'. I got the 1/4 lb. chicken version with egg added. (1/2 pound is available too - in chicken or steak). The greens, egg, tomatoes, bacon, cheese, peppers, and mushrooms read more like a grocery list of amazing color. This dish is more than colorful, it's tasty as all get out! The food and the staff here are "personality plus". Don't drive by, drop in! Have a Do-B today!

First of all, the people there working and serving could NOT be nicer! Sweet as could be, which was nice after a few long hours on the motorcycle in the summer heat! They reccomended an amazing po boy off the menu and I couldn't have been happier! Skip the fries, that sandwich is plenty! All in all, take the detour and check this place out!

This restaurant was an incredible find! We were stopping through Emporia for work and enjoyed some of the best burgers we ever! The total team is friendly, helpful and amazing. The old Dairy Queen finally has the right leader...stop in and enjoy a great local establishment!

Saw all the 5 star reviews and as an semi professional skeptic, I had to check it out. Awesome service and even better food! The place is a converted Dairy Queen, they cleaned it up and turned into a gourmet diner. I had the Hornet and some fries and it was a home cooked, quality food and explosive taste experience. The portions are large! Will definitely be back when traveling through Emporia.

Super friendly, but pretty slow ... like 20 minutes for a Philly and onion rings. Burnt end Philly was had some possibilities, but fell short of the hype. Will give it another shot, though.

The food is as awesome as it was hearing about the menu from the chef's mom. So glad we found this place.

Today my sons baseball team had an extensive rain delay to deal with. We needed a hot meal and a place to hang out for awhile since we are all from Northwest Missouri and KCMO. I suggested Do-B's after enjoying a meal here about a year ago. We popped in with nearly 20 people. They opened the doors early for us and made us feel welcome. Meals were cooked to order in a timely fashion. Food was great and I didn't hear of anyone that was disappointed. Service was excellent. They obviously care about their customers and the food they serve. Some of us noticed how exceptionally clean the kitchen looked which to me is a bonus. Look for our team picture on the wall: Midwest 5 Tool Baseball. Funny name, great team.

Shrimp po boy!! Delicious. This place is just off I35 and Burlingame Road, if you are driving KC to Wichita, make the stop. Quick, and I got mine to-go. I thought I could cook, this place is special. Skip the chains and go for real food. Yum, thanks yelp!

Been away for about a year, and this was the first place we ate at during a recent visit. We were immediately recognized when we walked in, and everyone was just as friendly as we remembered. The wife got the classic Philly and I had a poboy, both of which were delicious. I've traveled quite a bit for work, and Do B's is still one of the best restaurants I've been to, and hands down the best burger/sandwich place. Fries and onion rings are epic, and the poboys are just as good (if not better) than any I've had in New Orleans or the Gulf Coast. We will definitely be back anytime we are in town!

My husband and I were looking for a place to eat at on our way to Wichita and saw the amazing reviews on Yelp so we decided to stop by. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and my husband ordered the Jayhawker burger with fries along with chicken wings as an appetizer. The sauces are homemade by scratch by the owner and were finger licking good!!! Amazing!!!! We had the sweet chili sauce. The fries are homemade with just the perfect amount of seasoning. Along with our main dishes to complete our experience. We are definitely coming back here again!!

Went here for lunch. Pleased with the double bacon cheeseburger and rings. Patties were thin and tasty. A bit overly greasy, but that come with the neighborhood. Rings were fresh with a good batter. A good place to eat. Lots of "labor workers" were there so that is a sign of a good place. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Today was my second trip to Do-B's. I have a rule that when I am out of town to never eat something I can get at home, so my fiancé and I searched for a sandwich shop in Emporia when driving through there 2 weeks ago. Oh. My. God...the restaurant is not pretty to look at, and I am not a fan of the outside bathroom situation, but the cheesesteaks are out of this world! Gooey cheesy loaded with grilled goodness of mushrooms, jalepenos and onions. On the way home from Kansas City today, I very selfishly made an impulsive decision to take my vegetarian son there, and guess what!?!They actually had TWO veggie burger options! We were both in heaven and we even got to see someone attempt the Eastwood Lake Massacre challenge while we enjoyed our lunch. I will eat here again and again!

The Owners were SO nice!! Delicious burgers, the place smells great right when you walk in. Clean. They even have real Coke in bottles. We were on the road looking for a homemade bite. This beats any fast food. Great food with super nice vibes! Thank you! -Jon & Daniela

GLUTEN FREE...YEAH! Traveling from Topeka to OKC, we checked out the Yelp ratings and stopped for a late lunch. We each had the Original Cheesesteak, of which mine was on a gluten free bun. He had fried mushroom, which were great. I had the gluten free fries, cooked in a dedicated fryer. What an absolute treat. Awesome food; warm, clean and pleasant atmosphere; and amazing personal service that was friendly and inviting. Be sure to stop....you won't be sorry!!

I read about this place on yelp when on a road trip to the Tallgrass Prairie. It was really good. The woman at the front was really friendly and hard working. I ate the shrimp po-boy and it was great. My wife loved her cheeseburger. The fries were great. The only disappointment was the onion rings, which were overcooked. We'll be back.

First of all, it is great to see something homegrown pop up in Emporia during these harsh economic times, especially a place that is serving something other than pizza or burgers. Do B's is a weird name, moving on. The location, is that of an old Dairy Queen, and it is painfully obvious. The old double door freezers that formerly housed custom ice cream cakes are still intact, functioning even! So, as far as a neat or appealing atmosphere goes, Do B's is pretty lackluster. However, if the owners were going for a typical Kansas diner setting, they nailed it. So, no complaints there from me. The menu primarily offers a variety of different cheese steak sandwiches, burgers, and po-boy sandwiches. The staff were friendly and patient as I grabbed a menu from the counter and took my time finding what I wanted. My girlfriend and I settled on the "Classic" Philly with chicken and fries on the side. Some of the other offerings included phillies with bacon, party time ham, pizza sauce and more. They also had a marker board indicating special items near the soda fountain. We waited around 15 minutes for our food, and it came out piping hot. It was delicious. The Philly was unique... but in a good way. Do B's scored major points with their fries. Piping hot, not too salty, good size, and a good portion size. They are similar to the new Wendy's natural cut fries. I am looking forward to going back to Do B's to try the burnt end philly, and the halibut po boy.

Stopped by Do Bs on the way through town. Hubby wanted a good burger and this place didn't disappoint! I had the cheeseburger with onion rings. Omgosh! Yum! You could taste the cheese and it was juicy and heavenly! Sadness was when it was gone! Hubby had the loosey. His only wished that it came fully loaded Ike a burger. It was a loose meat hamburger with cheese, jalapeño and onion mixed in. No lettuce and such and it was on a hoagie roll. Fries were awesome. The place was packed on Thursday at 1230 but it quickly cleared. Food wasn't super fast but well worth the freshness after we received it. I have bookmarked for future trips through the area!

Grandma and I agree- best burger we've had in years. Can't wait to come back for a cheesesteak or a po boy. The staff was super friendly and the place was clean- what more can you ask for?!

We almost didn't stop-the restaurant building is unremarkable-and actually an old DQ. After driving around Emporia a bit it was clear that it was not going to have lots of options, so reluctantly we went back. The menu is interesting and unique and delicious. We had variations on the chicken steak sandwiches-with our favorite being the hot wing. Our son, a burnt end nut couldn't pass up the burnt-end sandwich. He added fries which were delicious. We decided you can't judge a book by its cover and we'll continue to use Yelp for gems like this.

During a recent outing in the vast tundra that is Emporia my team and I found ourselves with parched throats and rather famished. As the dimming sky started minimizing our options, the angelic glow radiating from our car's headlights cast it's long and opaque stare at the local Do B's parking lot. "Aye, this place be good as any" my eye-patched comrade said in a pirate dialect of a swashbuckler washed up on the shores of Australia for the last ten score years. "Yeah. Let's do it" I was able to muster, my vision blurry from a lack of sustenance for the day. The doors of Do B's opened themselves, not by a human act, nor a natural gust of wind, but as an act of God, inviting us into to a culinary utopia. Rather quickly my fellowship and I realized this endeavor was going to go down in an orchestra of thinly sliced beef, grilled onions, potatoes piled so high they be crying, and ketchup that would even make the greenest of tomatoes envious. While the staff, who largely resembled the work ethic, jovial nature, and passion of Oompa Loompas, had accidentally mixed up our order during their masquerade into euphoria, we pleasantly accepted the blunder. Now this "blunder", my dear readers, turned out to be nothing short of a godsend as the eclectic convergence of spice and salt satiated our tastebuds. Ever seen a cowboy ride a salt water orca like Shamu? We hadn't either until Do B's showed us that combining these two seemingly unfit pairs could turn out wonderous. Our jalapenos and mushroom soon played the part of Romeo and Juliet and become two star-crossed lovers in our palette of a wheat bun. Do-B's? More like Do-Please. A+ establishment, will shop from again.

Been eating burgers for 60 years and this might be the best ever!! Do-B's has the charm of a 50's soda shop with really nice people. But the Jayhawker I ate today was magnificent. It had mushrooms, avocado and bacon, was big and hot and juicy and and and well just go and thank me later. To think we almost went to Braum's instead.

Average, from florida where there are a lot of great restaurants, the burger tasted good, but personally I would have liked the patty to be thicker, the Philly cheese steak was bad, good meat is soo easy to come by here, yet they plate the cheap stuff. Onion rings were dope!

Who would have thought I could get a real cheesesteak in Emporia, KS? From the meat to the Wiz to the roll everything reminded me of Philly. The best cheesesteak I have ate in the Midwest is in Emporia. Weird?
