I believe the Cuban sandwich was the best sandwich I have ever eaten... Pulled pork, ham, pepper jack cheese, pico... Incredible

Great staff, good selections of meats, tasty sauces, and a nice homey feel to the place. What's not to like. Thanks to Yelp for helping find this place.

Amazing. Truly good food with out exception. Everything we had was prepared with excellence. I've had dinner at Michelin stars and dive bars where Bobby-d's is clearly on the up side of that scale. Recommended without reservation.

I stopped in for a lunch and decided on the undecided... a sampler. My side was broccoli slaw... which was excellent and sweet... a great ending. But what about the meat??!! The ham and turkey were no different from anywhere else. Tasty, but not BBQ. No smoke. No bark. The ribs did have some smoke and light seasoning. They were also tender and easy to eat. I could do a full rack easily. They were gooooood. The brisket was lean and lightly smokey except for the small band of fat on the top. The thin slices were still tender as well. I wished for slightly more smoke and seasoning. The pork was very tender. It had light smokiness and light seasoning to it... again I wish for more of both. The seasoning could be added with their spicy sauce. It still had some sweetness to it, but a little kick as well. My server, Jayme, was a rock star... Great smiling service and attitude.

The Best Beef Brisket in Town, if your love BBQ you have to check this place out. One of my Favorites!

The smell carried out to the street. My mouth was already watering as I walked in and my mouth was not disappointed. Great ribs - fast friendly service and a very reasonable price. I'll return next time I'm in Emporia.

We were looking for a place to meet a friend coming up from Wichita; BobbyD's was the highest rated at the halfway point, so we decided to give them a shot. Oh boy, am I glad we did! After living in a city where the BBQ was mediocre at best, I had been longing to sink my teeth into some tasty BBQ goodness. I was not disappointed. Nate and I split their meal plate. It came with a variety of meats and two sides. We also split the fried okra and sweet potato fries as apps - both were delicious! Some folks indulged in their cobblers after the meal, but I was too stuffed full of fantastic meat to partake. For my first BBQ experience in Kansas, I give this place two thumbs up. And our waitress, Jayme, was extremely helpful with recommendations. She even let us stay past closing to continue chatting with our friend! Such a sweetheart.

Second dinner at BobbyD's while driving cross country. Though they had run out a few favorites they allowed us to substitute which caused me to order the smoked wings...awesome! Sweet potato fries excellently crispy and flavorful. Friendly staff and good food- what else could you want. We will stop again on our next cross country trip...and so should you!

Always my favorite place to frequent when visiting Emporia! As a former employee, I STILL crave this place. Not a lot of people can say that after working at a restaurant for 3+ years. Bobby takes pride in the quality of his food. The meats are flavorful and juicy. My favorite? The pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and cheesy potatoes...yeah, I'm old school! A lot has been added to the menu since I left town 7 years ago, but I still lean towards my old favorites...fried okra, prime rib, pulled pork, baked beans, french fries (with that fantastic seasoning they use), brisket, cheesy potatoes and red cream soda. I'm frothing at the mouth just thinking about it...too bad I live 550 miles away!

Great BBQ in Emporia, who would have thunk it?! I had beef brisket sandwich, good portion of meat, tender, smokey and I liked their original sauce. Friend had ribs and said they were good as well. Onion rings were really good and the cheesy potatoes are a must have for a side item. The staff was very friendly too. This bbq can hang with the best!

Had lunch Saturday about 1 PM. Place was busy but service was prompt. I had a pulled pork sandwich with a side of slaw. Both were good. The slaw wasn't sweet and wasn't watery, two things that can kill slaw in my book. The pulled pork had a good taste to it. I don't know if they make their own sauce at this place or not. It tasted good and added to the sandwich flavor but didn't dominate. My son had a Cuban club which I had a bite of. It was amazing. I'll be getting it the next time. For dessert I had cobbler (they had blackberry that day, my favorite). It was homemade and delicious. The ice cream with it was straight out of a container so nothing special.

Awesome Ribs! In a bucket!

Cheesy potatoes, fried pickles, brisket sandwich, it was all good. Excellent bbqbsauces. Friendly staff. It was pretty full - which is always a good sign. Great food at great prices.

Love their steaks..broccoli salad...peach cobbler Alamode...always busy. Located in the beautiful Broadview Towers.

I think this is the best BBQ I 've had outside of Kansas City. The atmosphere is great, service wonderful, and the prices outrageously cheap (ice tea is FREE). This is a must eat if you are in Emporia; check out the cheesy potatoes and the sweet potato fries, you wont be disappointed.

Enjoyed a good lunch at Bobby D's on a Saturday afternoon while visiting ESU campus. Pulled pork and brisket sandwiches provided a good tasting, inexpensive meal for us. Both versions of the sauce on the table were fairly sweet - but good tasting both with meat and the fries. Service was friendly and reasonably fast for lunch. It's not KC BBQ, but then we weren't in KC ;-)

Awesome Luch Special! Good Moist Prime Rib Sandwich with 2 sides! Under $10 and fast and friendly service as always.

Nice down home BBQ Kansas atmosphere, courteous staff, a comprehensive menu, and delicious food. Nightly specials are a great bargain. The ribs, cheesy potatoes, and different BBQ sauces are exceptional.

I love Bobby D's! I hit it at least once everytime I'm in town. Great food, service and atmoshere! The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they changed the Turkey up sometime last year and it just hasn't been the same...but everything else is great!

Some of the best BBQ I have eaten. This place is always packed and for good reason - everything I have tried there is excellent! The brisket sandwich I had was super lean with absolutely no gristle or excess fat. If you are in Emporia, skip on the chains and go here if you want quality meat.
(5)Jill J.
Bobby D's is Emporia's finest! The prices are great and the food is even better. Don't miss the chessy potatoes. They are fantastic!! Everyone is friendly and the service is fast. You won't be sorry you stopped for some Bobby D's!

I have only eaten lunch here but both times, the food was fantatstic. While attending the GRS metal engraving class, it was recommended to eat here, and I am glad I did. Great food, nnice folks, but very busy place. Mom always said, "if the parking lots full, that's the place to eat!" Minimal wait times for lunch, and oh, so worth it!
(5)Chris S.
Fast, friendly service. Tasty BBQ. I had the Big Buddy with brisket & pulled pork and fried Okra. The hot BBQ Sauce was perfect on the meat. Will be back!

I came here after work with a couple coworkers. We were traveling for work and seemed like a nice place. Unfortunately, the wait for your food was quite lengthy, and the side salad was just "ok". Two of us ordered the ribeye and was cooked medium as we ordered (that's good), but it was soooo salty! Our other member ordered the meatloaf and she said it was good along with her sweet potato fries.

I was ready to drop three stars on this joint for a nice effort and then I met...the sauce. The mustard-based vinegar BBQ sauce is worth the trip on its own and gets this place over the top. Go there and get knee-deep in the stuff. What's good (in order of goodness): ribs, beef, turkey - the ham and the pulled pork were unexceptional. Also, the french fries and the cole slaw were decidedly above-average. Busy on a saturday, but the staff were super-friendly. Interesting take on the cuban sandwich. Not my thing but you might like it.

Awesome barbecue. Friendly service. Ribs that can't be beat. Nothing gets drowned in sauce and the true smoked flavor comes through.
(5)Emma N.
Broccoli salad, I love you so much. Lovely staff and incredibly delicious food- I had the ribs two nights in a row and am still dreaming of the broccoli salad and cheesy potatoes.
(5)Ryan G.
In fairness, my wife's nachos were quite good. Should've mentioned that the first time. My apologies. Overall, this place was only okay. Dining there again would require ordering something else.
(2)Sherman M.
Very good flavor on the KC strip. Just need to learn what a blue steak is. overall great food
(4)Rod F.
Awesome, more than your monies worth. Excellent food, excellent service. They should be proud of the product they put out.
(5)Mike F.
I came for lunch. The ribs where a little dry but the service was great. No sweet tea!
(3)Cody M.
My coworker, wife and I visited here after hearing about how good the bbq is. They must be under new ownership or management because it was very plain. We've had better bbq in California!! The best thing we ate was the potato cheese side. The wings were sad and the ribs were just boring. I base my opinion of a bbq joint on its ribs and frankly Bobby D's left a lot to be desired. Especially this close to KC. The atmosphere was great and the staff very friendly but the food was very disappointing.
(2)Ben S.
Great BBQ I had the ribs. They were literally fall of the bone ribs. They were awesome and the cheesy potatoes where top notch. Friendly service, the manager comes to each table personally to ask if everything was good. The sandwiches are also excellent. Highlly recommend.
(5)Ron R.
I ate here last night and almost forgot to review. What a gem this place turned out to be. Started with some wings and was pleasantly surprised. I've had a lot of wings but here I assume they smoke them before traditional preparation. They may be the best wings I have ever tasted, I highly recommend trying them. Then I tried the combination platter and everything was cooked well and very tasty. Couldn't be happier with this experience.

Top notch BBQ. Ribs were spectacular. Brisket on top of fresh salad too. Beer was really cold. Enjoy!
(5)Curtis S.
I was amazed at how friendly the staff and the food was!!! Great talking with the owner, manager and waitresses. I will be back again!

I wish they would franchise and open a spot in Kansas City as I rarely make it out to Emporia however after two visits this is our go to spot. While only available on select nights (might only be Saturday) the prime rib was out of this world. Also had their wings and both the hot and hotter than hot sauces were top notch with that right blend of seasoning to be one of my top 3 traditional buffalo sauce restaurants ever.
(5)Peter James B.
VERY good BBQ and nice atmosphere. The pulled pork was not at all greasy or heavy. The 2 sauces both had a nice balance of sweet and tangy with a little kick...or slightly more kick. Homemade slaw and bbq baked beans are good choices for sides and tasted freshly prepared. Wings were nicely cooked...smoked then flash fried and slathered with messy, but delicious sauce. From the outside it looks like a hole-in-the-wall. Inside it is deceptively spacious and quaint. Not at all cramped or uncomfortable. Clean bathrooms too.
