Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

My new favorite Mexican place in Derby. Nothing even compares to the flavors and the staff. We like to go at least once every couple weeks. Great mango and also watermelon margaritas. The pork fajitas some beat I've ever had. Chips and salsa are really good as well.

It's well-established that I'm not a fan of most Mexican restaurants who deal primarily in the "steak or chicken" realm of tacos, burritos, and chimichangas, but in a suburb of ticky-tacky houses and chain restaurants, the local Mexican places leave a lot to be desired. This is why I was so charmed by my visit to La Hacienda: yes, there is a lot of rice and beans platters, but the entire operation, from the food to the service, is bright and lively, making an effort to present their very best. Here there's still a phonebook of a menu that provides every possible combination of every Tex-Mex entree under the sun, and many of them may contain ground beef, but the beef is seasoned, different items actually have different sauces, and it looks like they took time to make sure each dish looked nice before leaving the kitchen. I'm probably not going to go out of my way to return to La Hacienda, though I would certainly recommend it to those looking for this type of Mexican food. I've been in restaurants like these before on much less successful terms; the food is so simple that if the service and preparation aren't up to par, it breaks the restaurant (see my only one-star review of a restaurant). As long as La Hacienda maintains their high standards, they're Derby's best Mexican restaurant.

We came here because casa Martinez was closed until 5. We should have just waited it out. I hate to give a poor review but the food was eh our waiter was eh. The highlight of our meal was the cute old man that brought out the chips and dips.

I've been here probably half a dozen times and haven't been disappointed yet. Great food and drinks. Service has been great with the exception of one time where is was barely average.

Awesome mix of tex-mex and authentic. Hawaiian pork tacos are my wife's favorite. Chips are always crisp but not burnt. Fish tacos are good. Friendly staff that works hard. Service gets a little slow at times, but not enough to stay away. Spicy shrimp is my fave.

This restaurant is in a great location! The atmosphere is nice and authentic. I never feel cramped or crowed because of it's spacious and open layout. It's very clean throughout the restaurant and the restrooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My family and I come here at least 2 or 3 times a month. On a good month we actually come ONCE A WEEK! I have never been disappointed in the service or any of the dishes I have tried. Although I do have my favorite dishes and usually stick with the same one or two; But the food is very good and their complimentary salsa is on point! The heat is just right! I would definitely recommend La hacienda to my friends and family and anyone traveling though town to this restaurant!

We eat here at least every other week, and have had nothing but good experiences! The menu is extensive, so there's something for everyone, and the food is authentic and delicious. The restaurant is always clean, and we've never had to wait more than a few minutes for a table, even during high volume times. The service is always EXCELLENT--very friendly and efficient. La Hacienda has become a go-to place for us, and we're happy to recommend it!

This place is fantastic. I eat here all the time. I have had about a dozen different plates and all have been delicious. Hawaiian Tacos are one of my favorites, but so is everything else I've eaten there.

I've only had one bad thing here. I've eaten here quite a few times. The fried icecream was a bit off...but everything else I've had had been amazing.

Went twice-food is nothing special. Never hot-once had to return all food due to being cold. They gave us 10% off bill, which was an insult. Only reason we gave 2 stars is due to atmosphere.

Very good. Fast service. I loved the guacamole. Steak tacos were tender. Everyone was friendly.

Pretty good Mexican food, with a nice atmosphere as well. Service is quick at lunch time but be prepared for it to slow down if you have a large group. Take out is pretty quick as well. The tacos are excellent, whatever they season the meat with is delicious. Also make sure to try the Texas Dip and table side guacamole!

This place is fantastic. Everything we've tried has been very tasty. Chips are fresh, crispy, not too thick, not too thin. Salsa is good, with cilantro, onion. Bowls kept full. Enchiladas, chile relleno, steak kabobs are fajitas plus! flank steak, with pepper, onion, pineapple- served with fresh tortillas, rice, beans, sour cream, guac., fajita quesadilla, vegetarian burrito with spinach, potatoes, table side guacamole is perfect, cheese dip is creamy, frozen and rocks margaritas with sugar or salt. And the service is awesome. Fast, but not rushed. Team effort in serving, clearing. Worth the short drive to Derby.

Just had lunch here. Tasty food ,good service. Had a chicken taco served with grilled veggies and rice. I've noticed slight variance in service at times, but nothing drastic. Pleasant atmosphere, no loud music. It's a great addition to the restaurant scene in Derby. Haven't used the bar but those who have were pleased.

I was avoiding this place, thinking it was just another of the many mexican restaurants that have popped up, just to close, all kind of serving the same food, decorated in that tacky type of colorful benches and artwork. WOW! Was I wrong, I didn't know what I had been missing! The gorgeous decor and luxurious and spotless bathrooms are the least of the beauty of this restaurant. With the food they serve, it could be a hole in the wall and I would still frequent it! I didn't understand the plethora of chicken dishes the menu had until I ate a meal that had chicken and shredded beef in it. I had the flautas, which is what I always order wherever I go. What can I say, I LOVE deep-fried food! I was in for such a delight with these, however, in that the perfectly cooked flour shells that surrounded the most succulently seasoned MOIST chicken, made these flautas the BEST I have EVER eaten! Half were chicken, half were deliciously MOIST shredded beef, definitely marinated to perfection! The rice was one of a kind! Not your standard fare, having vegetables mixed throughout. It was moist and packed with delectable flavors. The sauce for the chips had just the right amount of kick to it, and was filled with thick tomato chunks. The wait staff were genuinely caring and seemed to have a vested interest in how much you enjoyed your dining experience - from the host, to the man busing the table, they all were smiling and made you feel special. We ended our meal with fried ice cream. Even that was made with flair! The presentation looked out of a magazine with the sauces decorating the plate! The only thing I was left to wonder about, was why they were not located in the most wealthiest area of town, given the upscale service and food quality!

I would have given 5 stars if the hostess would have looked at me and greeted us as we walked in the door. I stared at her for what felt like 10 minutes before asking her if she was the hostess. The wait staff and the food was easily 5 stars. They didn't take to well to our special order items but that may have been due to a very tiny language barrier. Their rice had a wonderful flavor. We will be coming back.

Great food and good atmosphere. Chicken and shrimp fajitas are better tasting and of a larger portion than what I used to get in Cozumel, Mexico (being a former professional traveler). Nice to know that this place is near.

The food here is always really good and generally the service is pretty great. We're "frequent flyers". Every once in awhile there's a lag in service but the food is always worth it and the atmosphere is very friendly. The have a great variety menu-wise so that there is something for everybody. The drinks from the bar are pretty tasty and the offer table-side freshly made guacamole and home style salsa. We have never partaken in the table side but it looks nice and fresh and it's something different. We are always satisfied here.
