This place is phenomenal and these guys will make anything out of a pita. The gyro is always a safe bet, chicken gyros are great, the Philly Cheese is great if it isn't over-seasoned, and the burgers are the best on campus.

This place is Tasty! The Gyros are huge. I was thinking that one might not be enough.....I was wrong, glad I didn't get two. The fires were fresh(I saw them cook them right there), so they were pretty good.

MMMMM...The Gyro and the Chicken Philly are sooo good. I always get take-out though as it is a little small and crowded. It can sometimes be pretty busy, so if you are in a hurry it might be better to go somewhere else.

This is the place to go for beef gyros! Price is average, but they really stuff their gyros. I always have to take half of the meat out before I can attempt to eat it!

Best gyro I have had in a long time!!! The feta is amazing!! This meal was not very expensive either!! :)

Their gyros are pretty good but this place is far from authentic Greek food. Your options for sides include fries and other fried options. Their prices are fair but the restaurant is filthy. I don't think I will be visiting again because of this.

Wow, I'm pretty surprised at all of the negative comments on this place. While I was attending Purdue for 5 years, I've been to this place more times than I can remember. But I wouldn't forget a bad experience, and I've never had one from this place.. Though I would LOVE some feta cheese with the gyros, I absolutely LOVE them without it. I have had gyros at SO many places, but this is still my favorite. I always saw the same 2-3 people working almost every time I went in. The gyros are priced just fine. I usually didn't get fries or anything else with mine unless I was sitting down to eat. Many times, I'd just order on the phone after class and pick it up on my way home. Always ready in 5-10 minutes every time I've called. The pitas were always soft, the meat was just the same almost every time. I've been to too many places that have random hard pieces of meat, but I've never had that issue here. Their sauce is amazing. Whenever I make a trip back to Indiana, I'll definitely make the hour trip to Lafayette from my house just to get some yummy gyros from this place. :) Can't wait to go back. Also, a word to the wise.. I've seen many people complain about their orders being wrong (at all different take-out joints) and not realizing it until they get home.. Check your order before you leave the restaurant! It's not hard to quickly open a bag and peek through it. Better than having to make a second trip.

Haven't ordered a bad thing here. I literally day dream about the spicy chicken gyro.

First of all, it was ridiculously hot inside. I've had many gyros. This was meh, ok. The one thing they do well is pack it w gyro meat. It also has onions, tomatoes, & tzatziki sauce. Thank God there was one table outside, where although hot, it was not as hot as the interior. I felt bad for the young lady & young man working inside that sauna. They were dripping in sweat...Hmmm, I thought my fries were especially salty. :-\ You will unnecessarily sweat upon entrance even if all you do is come in and pick up a to go order...yuck. Attire: bathing suit and towel.

Awesome spicy gyro and some very good hummus. A very overlooked place on Chauncey. If you haven't been here I would definitely recommend going before you leave. However, I wouldn't recommend varying from a normal or spicy gyro and the hummus. Those are the best things on the menu. Also, very good fries!

We went there over Christmas Break when the other two Middle Eastern places were closed and got some take-out Gyro sandwiches. Each of them cost less than a Subway sandwich, they were packed with meat, and had a good sauce and vegies. If you compare these to other fast food like QuackDonalds, you might buy, they are fantastic. Fine dining it is not, but for a fast, delicious meal, they are a great alternative. I will go back, over and over.

I haven't had gyros in Greece, but you can find amazing gyros here. The pita is soft and fluffy, the tzatziki is cool and refreshing and gyro meat is spectacular. The portions are quite good for price of $5.29 (at the time) and they're certainly not stingy with the meat. Great place for gyros!

Very good! I ordered just a gyro and I'm glad I didn't make it a combo (with fries and a drink) because the sandwich was huge and packed with meat.

So they made it better replaced the one missing and have us money back with an order of free fries.

I love GYROs! I was craving gyros and found this place through yelp! It did not disappoint. The gyros are about $6 each and I got the spicy gyro. I do admit it was kind of salty for me, but still a very good gyro! The fries are very thin and crispy, the way I like it!

They have decent gyros. Not the best. However don't be too surprised if you get sick eating from this place because it's not that clean. The owner guy picked up fries he dropped on the floor and tried to sell it to me. Gross.

Large portion for a single gyro and tastes fine. The spicy gyro is just the regular gyro with buffalo sauce on it. I would have preferred to add the sauce on my own (since it's available on the table) if I had known that beforehand. The fries are pretty unappetizing - pretty sure they are frozen.

I love this place. Delicious gyros at an amazing value- so much food for only $6! They also have burgers that are crazy good. But i always order a classic gyro and it is perfect every time. And it isnt a chain!! Great owner and employees. Highly recommended!!!

This place is value for money. I would always tell them to make my order with less meat as I wouldn't be able to finish my food. The spicy chicken gyro is my absolute favorite plus the fries that they serve with the combo are crispy and fresh but you'll probably need to add some salt. Overall, a great place to eat around campus and the owner is an honest and fair gentleman.

Awesome portion sizes, Gyros are really good, fries are always fresh. Place is a bit worn looking, for lack of a better word, but I like the atmosphere and the local "mom and pop" feel they got going, a refreshing change from many other local chain restaurants nearby. I wouldn't suggest the spicy Gyro, it's just a regular gyro drowned in some uninteresting hot sauce. Never ventured too far off the gyros on the menu but why would I? when you got a good thing going, stick with it.

Not as great as people make it out to be. Hungry's has a more consistent gyro thats more flavorful and less greasy. Service is pretty decently slow and nothing on the menu is very impressive. It's got good reviews cause its the only gyro place on a popular street on campus. If you get the chance go to Akropolis in Lafayette or Hungry's next to Purdue West.

Probably one of my favorite gyro places I've ever been to. Also, the fries are amazing. I could eat here every day!

I have had a few food babies from this place. Their portions are huge! Good gyros, quick service, friendly service, fresh fries, and good prices.

My husband and I call this place "Mom and Pop Gyro Shop." Although we have moved away from the area we still talk about the spicy gyro combo. True it is not a "traditional" Greek meal, but there are other places for that. If you want decent prices for a delicious fast-food type of meal (but WAY better than regular fast food) go to Captain Gyro's.

Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Greek cuisine not only tastes good but also help maintain your body in a natural way through healthy diet.
