This review is for drive-thru as we have never actually gone inside here. The food we get (normally hamburgers, fries, shakes) is always good. They get our order correct down to the thick shakes we ask for. Watch for coupons in the mail. That's how we normally get a good deal here.

Not the best food, but the milkshakes are worth it. The service is slow, and the staff is not personable at all. It's really nothing special.

Horrible. Last night, at about 11:30, my friends and I went here after prom. It took a little over five minutes to be seated, but that's not a problem. As we were being seated, she already asked us if we had an idea of what we want, as she gives us a single menu for five people to share. We told her might just get shakes then she left. Never saw her again. We were there for half an hour and we were never checked on, asked if we knew what we wanted, or even offered any water. After a half hour we decided to walk out and go to the Taco Bell across the street. This is a huge disappointment because I love steak and shake; they have phenomenal shakes, fries, and burgers, but this individual institution is wretched.

This place is always a tragedy. The food is usually ok so I keep coming back. If you enjoy eating in a mostly dirty environment where the staff looks homeless and teeth are optional.. this is the place for you. Oh, and don't be in a hurry. Short staffed is the norm at this gem.

I've always been a fan of Steak n Shake and think they have the best burgers for a fast food joint. I am usually just going through the drive-through and never had a problem with service. We decided to dine in this past Sunday and was immediately grossed out by lack of cleanliness. The floor was disgusting and as I looked around i noticed a film on everything. This place needs a major cleaning. I didn't want to drag my family out of there because I figured we would be in and out. I was visually tortured for over 20 minutes as we waited for our food. Dear Steak 'n Shake please clean up so I can go back.

Don't know why people are hating on this place. They offer greasy food all day for days. It's cheap. Yeah the service is slow, so is the drive through. Your food is not pre made. Excellent food for the intoxicated being.

Food is average, prices are above the norm. Employees seem variable, some days good service, some days really bad. One time my entire family was jonesing for milkshakes, we went to the driveup window. They refused to serve us, for 30 minutes!!! Too busy, no orders right now. Come back later. No, I'm not kidding. I said we just need shakes. NO FOOD!!

Steak n Shake used to be our go to late night food choice. Then a lot of locations closed and we moved to the west coast where they do not exist. I ordered the Frisco Melt which I still love. I ordered cheese for my fries because I remembered the fries suck. However when I got back to my room I found no cheese. Very disappointing.

Everything I like about Skyline Chili, I dislike about Steak-N-Shake. I was on my way from Lima, Ohio, to Chicago at 4 a.m. and thought I would either burst from a full bladder or faint from hunger, so I pulled into the only restaurant that seemed to have an open lobby. Having never been inside, I didn't realize Steak-N-Shake was a sit-down diner. So I used the restroom and plopped down, ordering a chocoloate milkshake and a double steakburger with cheese. Both were a disappointment. The double steakburger, with it's $4 pricetag, should have been twice as big as it was. I appreciate it being served on a real, non-disposable plate with the toppings stacked to the side. The milkshake was good but not great. Anyway, with tip, the whole thing ended up being $10. So much for a quick, cheap bite on the road.
