I'll start this as New York style pizza is horrible and I love Chicago style. Gelsosomo's, pronounced Gel-sauce-a-moes, is a midwest style pizza. Thin crust, with a sweeter almost orange sauce and a seasoned mozzarella cheese. Growing up in NWI I enjoy this style of pizza but can see how it is very different from others. As such it is probably worth trying at least one, because most either dislike it or it becomes one of their favorite of this style pizza. They are not just a pizza place either. While I've never ordered anything besides pizza from them they are actually a full Italian restaurant. Others that I have gone with seem to enjoy the pasta dished, but can not comment for myself. There are several locations ranging from St Joseph to Michigan City, so odds are there is one near you if you live in NWI.

G's pizza was enthusiastically recommended to me by a friend. I wanted to like it, but it did not stand out to me. Actually, I enjoyed it more as cold leftover breakfast.

Went here with friends when I was visiting from out of town. I shared an appetizer (breadsticks with cheese) and a pizza. All of it was very good. The staff kept us supplied with soft drink refills. A good choice if you're looking for pizza in Valpo.

Yeah it's hard to spell but it's the place to be food good Italian food! I used to got there when I went to college in Indiana it was within walking distance from Campus. Every time my friends felt like getting Italian food I recommended Gelsosomo's. I loved the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, you can order a full order or half, but wither way you will be satisfied. Plus the price is nice. Another great thing about this place is with every order you get a complimentary plate of warm bread served fresh. And U don't have to share cause everyone gets there own No more fighting over the last piece of hard french bread in that ugly red basket LOL. This remains to be my favorite Italian restaurant in Indiana when I visit.

I like this place. I should start by saying I do not like thick-like-bread Chicago pizza and love the thin real Italian New York style pizza which I can get here. I really only like the pizza though. I have tried their Italian pastas here and they just don't do it for me. They all seem so pre-fab to me; maybe they aren't but they don't taste fresh. I do like their pizza though and we usually get it when we go there. I should say I have two friends from Chicago and this is the place they want to go when they visit Indiana. They also have antipasto which is a big salad with a couple pieces of pepperoni and provolone cheese on it. It's good enough, but not real antipasto. All in all, it's an okay place, big enough for groups and they serve wine and beer as well. I'd stick with pizza and nothing else if I were to recommend it.

Very dissatisfied with the level of customer service, manager cut me off and was nasty when I called to complain about receiving the wrong pizza. What happened to customer service especially when the error was their fault! Displeased, no longer a loyal customer

Not bad pizza but it is extremely over rated and over priced for what you get. I have eaten at the Valparaiso location and the Michigan City location many times. The pizza tastes much better if you can eat in as opposed to carry out our delivery. I don't know why but this pizza in particular does not taste well cool. The service has always been good though, people are friendly not sure why delivery takes so long to drive less than 3 miles

This is one of the few places our family goes back to visit when we're in the area. Best thin crust pizza, the toasted ravioli is amazing, chicken parm is very good, you can't go wrong with this place. The atmosphere is family casual. Very comfortable place to bring kids. The only downside is that for pizza it is expensive, but otherwise it's great.

I pretty much love everything about this place....... except for the prices that is. The pizza is delicious and I totally recommend it, but the prices just seem outrageous to me, like $22 for a large 2 topping and we're talking veggies here, no meat. Also for a half carafe of cheap box wine it's $9, I can buy the whole box at the store for less than that! I feel like they take advantage of customers by charging so much. Other than that the service is good, nice atmosphere, great food and fun stuff for kids to do. Also the drinks (soda not beer/wine) are HUGE which is nice. I'm a regular here but I hate seeing the check.

I love their pizza, always have and always will. I never feel let down when I come to Gelsosomo's, they have great service and their food is delish. And we always get their garlic cheesy bread first, can't do without that. We'll always be a repeat customer.

A cold Stromboli I've never had a cold Stromboli before. A new low. Stale potato chips and greasy nasty pizza with a partially gooey crust. Not cooked all the way. The waitress hovered around the table as we were trying to read the menu. A real weirdo who reminded me of an inmate. I also don't want to hear about beer and wine three times I was with my children. My wife and children also reported to me the restroom had no soap. I would pass this place on by if I were you.

Ordered a pizza and a dinner plate. Pizza was fine. Dinner was supposed to come with a salad. No salad. I'm staying in a hotel. No napkins, no fork, no parm or pepper. Can't eat ravioli without a fork... Delivery charge was not advertised on there paper menu. Sausage was VERY DRY!!! Meatballs made from pork only!!! Wow!!! Not very Italian. I would have given a 3 star rating if I had received a salad, fork, napkins, and normal condiments. But still, $33 for a medium pepperoni and some ravioli??? Nope. Don't support their ignorance!!!! Dominos, Pizza Hut, or Little Caesars will do you better!!!

Called for pizza delivery tonight. Kept getting put on hold. Finally gave my order and provided my credit card info. The employee said she would run it and get back to me. Another employee picked up the phone, asked if it was pick up or delivery, and when I asked to speak the girl I had been speaking to, he HUNG UP on me. I called back, a bit annoyed, and asked if I was indeed going to get a pizza delivered or not. I told him this kind of incident was pathetic. He then got angry. He said the order had been placed. I asked for verification on price and then questioned why it was so high. Hmmmm....not only was I put on hold numerous times, hung up on, and now charged for an XL pizza instead of a Large. 3 stars tonight because the pizza was still good. Very disappointing experience though with Gelsosomo's staff.

The spaghetti was over cooked and the sauce was tastless. My girl ordered a burger which appeared to be one of a microwave variety. We both agreed that our meals were pathetic and will not be going back ever. And to make matters worse, the cost of this slop was $32.00. Stay away. Listen to what I say!!

WOULD NOT GO BACK. We have eaten there at least 2x per month for over a year. Pizza has turned greasy, staff rude and no manager on site. Called the next day and talked to the owner she said that she would be sending a gift card because of our bad experience but guess what never arrived. The pizza was like cardboard, hardly any topping (sausage and mushroom) cheese was floating in grease could not eat I would not recommend because owner does not care and the service has gone to the dogs. STAY AWAY AND WILL NEVER GO BACK

The closest thing that you can get in Valpo to my personal favorite, Sanfratellos! The service for dine-in and carry-out is great and the food is great. Delivery takes a bit long for living right behind them.

I have a sense that I'm going to have trouble reviewing area pizzas, just having moved back from Miami. I think almost any area pizza is going to be better than almost every Miami pizza. I was ordering from Domino's as a decent option for pizza in Miami, for heaven's sake. I'm kind of going through a pizza frenzy. I'm going to find the best area pizza even if I have to eat a hundred of them. As predicted, I ordered a SMO medium thin crust and I thought it was great. The sauce is a little sweet and it blends well with the oregano flavor. The crust is nice and crispy but mine was a little burnt at one edge. Since I can't compare local pizzas to Florida, I have to compare them against each other. So far, in Valpo, Tony's and Gelsosomo's. The thing about Gelsosomo's is that it had *much* less cheese. Maybe that's your thing? Not mine. I like all the cheese. I used to describe Chicago-style thin-crust to the ignorant (New York style pizza eaters) by explaining that you can't eat one of 'em without a knife and fork until it cools a little and the cheese sets. "What? You can't fold it over??" "Shut up, now." This sparing cheese puts Gelsosomo's under Tony's on my scale but I can't say that Gelsosomo's is bad. It also means that Gelsosomo's is more expensive because cheese is one of the more expensive ingredients and one of the ingredients that are going to fill you up. I can eat more Gelsosomo's at a sitting before my sides are splitting. If Gelsosomo's were in Miami it would be 5-stars and I would be there every day. Since it's not, 3-stars, not bad, and I'll probably order again.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
