On a road trip with the family - Waze kicked us off the highway due to traffic and Yelp found this little place. Not a lot of options in the area so as we sat in the Dairy Queen parking lot because we had promised the kids some ice cream on the return trip ... I just couldn't bring myself to another standard joint that there are an endless supply of. So ... to Rubbin' Butts it was for a late lunch! Set in a strip mall pretty simple and as others have mentioned the place smells like smoked BBQ from the time we got out of the car. Staff was helpful with our questions and attentive while we ate. I had the Hot N Spicy brisket sandwich which was the daily lunch special - a unique pulled brisket with the spice mixed in. It was hot but not anything ridiculous - but I do like some spice. Didn't need sauce with it for it to be good either ... but both sauces were good on it - one of my favorite briskets I've ever had. Others had pulled pork sandwich, the porken (pulled pork & BBQ chicken) and chicken rings off the kids menu. Note the chicken with the porken was a little dry and was sliced not pulled but a little sauce fixed that up - no complaints from anyone. Everyone had fries for the sides and they were fine so can't speak to the other side options. Would definitely stop by if going through the area again ... oh and for the ice cream found that later in the trip and more than made up for skipping DQ at this stop!

Very good beef brisket with a great spicy & mild bbq sauce to chose from. Definately worth stopping in, don't drive past, get in here

The fam and I always try to find unique places to eat while on road trips. When "Rubbin' Butts" popped up on my Yelp app, how could we *not* go here?!? First off -- as noted in my tip, it's mapped wrong via the Yelp app. Instead, Go the opposite direction off the exit (south?) on 31 and it's in a strip mall on the right -- past the Taco Bell and other yucky fast food. So yeah. This place was interesting! We visited on a Sunday and there was a small crowd packed in to a little tiny 'bar area' separated by a half-wall of sorts -- enjoying themselves and watching the game. Drink special was a bucket of domestic beers -- appropriate given the day and crowd there. Let me say -- this place smells like smoked BBQ. That's a good thing. The sauces are on the table in squeezy plastic ketchup looking things and not marked -- so be sure to ask which is the 'regular' and which is the 'spicy' (my fav of the 2). I opted for the stuffed baked potato with just chicken and cheese and then added the sauce. Pretty good, very filling. Chicken a little dry -- but most smoked chicken tends to be. The Hubs and the Bird loved their pulled pork sandwiches and fries. I thought some of the menu offerings were interesting (meatloaf and mac & cheese wrap?). Overall, a cool little place in the middle of no where. Service was quick and friendly. Food was reasonably priced. Would have been 3 1/2 stars, but rounded up for good service...and for the name. Still makes me giggle. Give this place a whirl instead of hitting a fast food joint if you are in the area.

Went here for lunch today. The salad looked very good on the menu. A blend of fresh romaine and iceberg lettuce with cucumbers cheddar cheese tomatoes and onion rings with brisket. What I got was some spring mix pulled out of a bag with a few diced tomatoes some cheese and onion rings topped with greasy fatty brisket. Greasy mess I pulled the fat off of the meat and made a pile of it on my napkin I felt sick as I left. My friend had nachos, she asked for salsa was told they don't have that. Our lunch was a hot mess..ok it wasn't hot. I apologized for asking to go here.

Great food and the staff was welcoming... even though we came in at the last minute. :)

Found because if it's unique name. It's mapped wrong, look for it In a strip mall before the map says you are there. My son and I tried it on a road trip. Decent food for a good price. Clean place with polite service. Pulled pork was only so so, but people at the next table raved over the beef brisket and the meat loaf. I'd stop here again for what it is. Small town BBQ place.

If you order a baked potato, get the queso on it! Their pork BBQ dinner comes in a generous portion. Baked beans were great and of course their chocolate cake was so yummy. Oh yeah... deviled eggs for the appetizer Great atmosphere, good place to watch a game!

Our first visit. There was a varied menu, but we ordered wings and chicken BBQ The meat was smoked just right. The portions were generous and we are going home with lunch for tomorrow. I recommend the spicy BBQ sauce. The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I look forward to going back.

Delicious food - get the Brisket Burrito, it's fantastic. The spicy bbq sauce has good heat, and the sweet bbq sauce is really tasty. Overall, great food.

Very good pulled pork and pulled chicken. Very good sauces. I frequently pick up carry out from here and as I have never eaten in the restaurant, I cannot comment as to the quality of service, but the food has been delicious. I really recommend several sides, the green beans, the corn, and macaroni. Great for carry out and I hope you enjoy eating it as much as I do.

Went last evening and all 3 of us tried different things and we all loved what we had! The brisket was the best I've ever eaten, the porken was delicious as well as the pulled pork! Will definitely be returning soon!

Pulled pork and smoked meatloaf were excellent. Slaw wasnt very good. The waitress was terrible.

You won't be disappointed beef brisket was cooked to perfection. Waffle fries would have been a great side had they not had too much season salt. Craft drafts available, portions were more than generous. Wait staff were very prompt!

This place could be so much better. I'm splitting the rating because the meats and sandwiches are excellent, but the side dishes are such a disappointment. Most BBQ places are just as skilled with their sides as they are with their meats which makes for a really great meal. This place just pops the lid on a can of corn or baked beans and sends them out. Great place for a sandwich, but anyone could cook better sides at home

The smoked meatloaf here is unbelievable. I don't even like meatloaf but this smokey Rubbin Butts version is great!!!
