If you are on I-65, heading north to Indianapolis or south to Louisville, stop by Willie D's in Scottsburg, Indiana for lunch. Everything tasted homemade and arrived in nice big-sized, down home American portions. I had the chicken salad wrap and some cole slaw--best ever! I also sampled the potato salad. As an extra treat, I had some fried green tomatoes, which were conveniently breaded as chips and offered with ranch sauce to dip them in. Although they had many homemade desserts on display behind the counter--brownies, chocolate candies--I didn't get any but they looked scrumptious. Willie D's also serves breakfast. The building may not be much to look at on the outside, but the inside is comfortable and I recommend you stop by if you happen to be traveling through Scott County, Indiana.

This is a solid place. The food is good and people that run this restaurant are great people. I like the soups. The sandwiches are good, but they do deliver. This place is good for lunch that is reasonably priced.

Excellent food with a mom and pop feel. When you walk in, you can tell this restaurant is really a part of the community. With all the old pictures and newspapers of local high school championships hanging on the walls, you know this is not just another cookie cutter restaurant. The people here are warm and friendly, too.....they even offer delivery. The only bad thing about this place....deciding what to order. Their homemade soups and chicken salad are fantastic! One of my friends told me he actually tried every weekend, for about 6 weeks, to figure out how to make the cheesy broccoli soup. Cookies, cakes, and pies are homemade as well. This place definitely beats picking up something from a fast food joint!

Great lunch spot if you're driving along I-65. Was looking for a good, local sandwich spot on a roadtrip from NC to Chicago and Willie D's came through huge. The chicken salad sandwich was superb. Great mixture with grapes. Came on croissant but I selected wheat instead, which was terrific. I also added tomato and cheese. Came with fries, which were nothing to write home about, but better than nothing. Loved the vibe in Willie D's. Totally a local spot with IU basketball references and local high school sports news on the walls. Great service - personable and friendly. Check it out if you're driving along I-65!

This place has a reputation among locals, and apparently has for decades, but I found my first impression to be less than good. Their version of a Reuben is a highly disappointing one.
