Diabetics at Pizza Hut
Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.
Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:
You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.
Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut
Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Enough of Clara's loving off the old reputation of other Pizza Kings. The place is a filthy dump. The restrooms are a disaster and the carpet in the dining room doesn't look like it's ever been cleaned. The orders are almost always wrong and they have a tough sh@t attitude about it. When it costs $50 I expect at least my order to be correct. If you really look around when your sitting there the walls and floors are nasty. The biggest pain is trying to just pay your bill and get out in less than half an hour. Worst most confused cashiers in town. Go to the other two Pizza Kings in town, you will be amazed in the difference.

I haven't been to Clara's in years but when I lived in Richmond back in the late 90's, we'd go there a lot. I love their pizza. The crust is thin and crispy and the pizza IS not greasy. It's not real filling so I could almost eat an entire pizza! Their bread sticks are so tender and buttery. I have lived all over and haven't found a pizza as good as Clara's.

Pizza and sub sandwiches are pretty easy and you'll find shops around this town with either. This chain offers a good variety with good quality and good taste. Don't expect that you'll have a five-star dining experience. It's still a pizza place. The tables have laminate tops and you use a phone at your table to order. I went with friends and we ordered a 12 inch Royal Feast (Deluxe/Supreme) pizza and an 11 inch original sub sandwich. The sub goes in the oven along with the pizza so it's hot when you get it. The ingredients on both were good this time, though they can be inconsistent on the amount from time to time. The food is enjoyable and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. You pay on the way out. The company has 3 stores in town so you can visit Northwest 5th Street or West Main Street or East Main Street.

I grew up in Richmond but moved to DC five years ago. Now I only get a chance to come home maybe once or twice a year but every time I'm in Richmond I have to get me some Clara's/Pizza King! DC boasts about having all of the best gourmet food you can find but I still have yet to find a pizza as good as Clara's. And the breadsticks? Oh. My. Gosh. I usually get them half baked with the dill sauce and cheese sauce. Yum! Aside from the food the decor inside the restaurant is fun. It kind of reminds me of Paper Moon Diner in Baltimore (a restaurant famous in Baltimore for it's fun decor) only for some reason Clara's isn't as well known. There's a bus inside of the restaurant where you can eat your delicious pizza. And if kids aren't already wetting themselves over that, you can order the pizza by the cute little phone on your table. It's just a fun concept and perfect for families. Clara's, I miss you.

Best Pizza EVER!!! Clara's is the BEST thing about Richmond!! I've tried the imposters; they're no where near as good as Clara's!! I've been known to purchase their pizzas half baked so that I can ship them to family members that have moved away and can no longer enjoy the loveliness that is Clara's. Every Friday night, in our household we get a 16 inch pepperoni pizza and an order of 3/4 baked bread sticks with cheese. MMMM!! Dine in and take in the eclectic atmosphere! They've got an actual double decker bus in the dining room set up with booths; fun for kids but it is still a "smoking" area (until the ban goes into effect in a few months). When you're ready to order, instead of waiting on a server, simply pick up the telephone, attached to every table and call the kitchen! Jukebox, loads of novelties hanging from the ceiling and walls, bench swings for seats, old school tube television set... believe me; it all works together. Granted, if you look too closely, the dust, etc. may look a little gross but hey, it's Clara's! The food and people are good enough that we overlook such nonsense.

I absolutely have nothing negative to say about this place. It's simply fantastic! This is by far the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life...and yes, I have traveled the world! The bread sticks are addicting as well! Smothered in dill butter and you can order them "3/4 baked" as well. They also let you order pizzas un-baked so you can bake them fresh at your home. The decor is delightfully overwhelming! Everything in the restaurant is a little piece of history...including the indoor double-decker bus! It even has seating inside! You place your order from the telephone provided at each table, there's a jukebox with somewhat outdated music, and they serve beer!
(5)Veronica H.
My husband is from Richmond, and ever since he brought me here a couple years ago, I've been addicted! We live in California, so when we come to visit, we have to eat at this location AT LEAST once. I loved how you order with the telephone and they are almost always quick with getting drinks and refills. Great pizza, the breadsticks here never disappoint (never soggy) and gotta love the dill butter. We ate here the day of the Richmond Christmas parade and now that we are back in San Diego, I'm having withdrawals right now being 2000 miles away.
(5)Mia M.
It's a Pizza King, no doubt, with the phones at each table and the Royal Feast being the main attraction, but that's where the similarity ends. You can sit at tables on porch swings instead of chairs. The interior resembles that of a Methodist church, with its dark wood and stained glass windows. There's hippie bead curtains and antique baby buggies and tin signs suspended from the ceiling. There's a main floor, a basement and a loft to choose from. And let's not forget the double decker bus parked right in the middle of the place. Ambiance aside, this is one of the better Pizza Kings I've been to. The menu is more expansive, with a ton of appetizers, sub sandwiches and even burgers, and it's always fresh and hot. The bus is actually more of a novelty than anything... it has sort of an off smell and when it's busy, children have a tendency to lose their minds over it and run up and down the steps and the aisle. I'm sure it's that reason that prompted Clara's to close off the upstairs part.
(4)Gary W.
the best pizza place in Richmond always a great place to hang out warm friendly staff.
(4)Shawn D.
Pros- to my knowledge Clara's is the first Pizza king in Richmond so they score points on originality. The are also the only restaurant in town ( maybe the world) where you can sit on a real double decker bus, Eat pizza, drink beer, all while listening to white snake on the jukebox. As if Whitesnake and the Bus wasn't enough, they decided to buy one each of pretty much everything else invented from 1750 to about 1945 and hang it from the ceiling, seriously... I have been eating there for over 30 years and see something new every time. I'm pretty sure they have Martha on loan from the Smithsonian sitting in the old school iron birdcage... Ok so by now you are asking, what could possibly be bad about this place? Over the past couple years they have been seriously skimping on the cheese and meat toppings. If I am going to pay almost 30 bucks for a thin crust pizza (large royal feast) I shouldn't have to pony up for extra cheese and sausage! Now I know its not just my imagination, because if I go to the east or west main pizza kings, they do it up the way its supposed to be. I've asked the managers at these two stores why they put so much more stuff on their pizzas, thinking that maybe it was a gimmick to entice more business since they couldn't fit a bus in their dining rooms, but they both said that they just follow the original recipe. With all that said Clara's is still the go to place for friends, family and colleagues from out of town who want to experience the best pizza around. Something about that dadgum bus! If you want to kick it up a notch try your pizza with either BBQ sauce or Ranch Dressing in place of the traditional pizza sauce. My favorite between the two is ranch; that extra dose of MSG really brings out the flavor in the rest of the pizza! Oh forgot to mention, The breadsticks are the best! Crispy, hot, buttery what else do you want in a bread stick? try them in the cheese sauce. Don't forget to buy the kids a couple of "buffalo chips" at the register!
(4)Mary S.
I think this is a fun place to take kids and out of towners as you can eat on an old double decker bus parked in the restaurant. Also enjoyable is the way you get to order, by picking up the phone in your booth! Pizza is good too, it's a win win.
(4)Chivas M.
DO NOT EAT HERE! My friend was celebrating a birthday here for a family member, and her plate had a roach on it! The manager came and took the roach off the plate and said " We sprayed Friday, I guess they didn't kill all the roaches" They only offered a apology and gave them their pizza free! That's a call to the Indiana Department of Health!"

Everytime I visit Clara's in Richmond, it reminds me of the Clara's where I spent time as a young kid when it was in the brick building down on Colerain Avenue across from Northgate Mall in Cincinnati. The Richmond location is an exact replica. As for foot, well it's Pizza King, one of the culinary treasures of Indiana. In some surreal reality, Pizza King and Marion's in Dayton need to do a bake-off... they have really similar recipes. So all in all, I am a fan, and will stop by when I am in Richmond (which is rare these days).
(4)Chris G.
When you visit Richmond, or if you live here and simply haven't been there yet, Clara's is a staple of the city that you absolutely must visit. Around town, you can just refer to it as "the pizza place with the bus" and everyone will know exactly what you are talking about. Food aside, the atmosphere is amazing, you will need a minute or two just walking in to really look around and view all of the decorations and, well, the double-decker bus that are inside. The food is served fast, hot, and delicious! Between the Royal Feast, breadsticks (you owe it to yourself to try them half-baked), and beer on tap, this place serves as a great place to meet up with a group of people, or simply go out on the town and grab a great meal that will leave you smiling afterwards! Finally, and for me most important, they have an old school Pac-Man machine righ tinside the front door, the table-top, two-sided kind that you can rarely find anymore!
(5)Scott L.
This joint has a full size double decker bus inside it's dining room. It also has the best pizza in Richmond and great burgers and hoagies and everything else you could think of. The wife's dad loves the ribs there. It's seriously a place that has it all. Did I mention they also had a bus inside? Plus, when you sit at your table you order your food by a phone that's on every table. Very cool way to place an order inside a place. If you're looking for pizza in Richmond...give this joint a try. They have EVERYTHING you're looking for, I promise!
(4)Mary C.
This rating is more for the wait staff than the restaurant. I LOVE the PIZZAS and bread sticks here with the dill butter! That dill butter is amazing. Maybe it was my own fault when I asked for whatever seat is available. It was one thing that it was in the smoking section but it is another that it was in the hidden corner of the restaurant. Like the worst table probably there! How can I say that? In the middle of our meal an employee sat down beside us to have her dinner. I saw plenty of other seats that were open but why put us there? We were greeted by one waitress who I guess is "stuck" with us because the other one is on break. Her words not mine. At least laugh about it like you're joking. But once the other one came back from break "I guess" she was our waitress. Then there was another one that brought us our pizza, dill, drinks. Who was waiting on us? Our menus were still on the table and none of our dirty plates were cleaned off until she pushed us the bill IN THE MIDDLE OF DINNER. I felt like we were an inconvenience to them. We asked for a refill on our glass of wine to let her know we're not ready to leave. But after waiting so long, we just decided to box up and go. Still going to come back for the food of course, but I think next time we'll ask for a male server.
(1)Donna H.
Don't just go for the atmosphere, the pizza is great too! I had salad with ranch, which tasted homemade and we shared a pizza. They chop their pepperoni instead of slicing, which I actually like better. Round pizza cut into squares. Love it!
(4)Pat D.
This place is all about the pizza! An older building that is an institution in Richmond for years. Lots of historic pic and items hanging everywhere. It's certainly not the cleanest place, but I go there their unique flavorful finely diced toppings and awesome sauce. Breadsticks are best half baked with cheese. My wife loves their sub wrap, Stromboli wrap is great too.
(4)Scott H.
Drove here tonight from Cincinnati. It's just like I remember Clara's in Cincinnati from 35 years ago when I was a kid! Pizza and breads sticks were great. Service was top notch. Was not disappointed and worth the hour and a half drive. My kids loved ordering from the "old fashioned" phones at the table. We will be back.
(5)Amanda S.
Love the bus, the breadsticks and cheese, ranch and the entire dim atmosphere!!!!! Really wish there was gluten free
(5)Johnny S.
This place was a little confusing because it was called Clara's outside but it is still pizza king. This place has an awesome atmosphere. We got to order our food on this sweet telephone! My wife and I got the half baked bread sticks with the dill butter sauce and it was delicious. We got the royal feast which was way more food than we could eat. I would definitely recommend taking it home because I think it was just as good the next day!

excellent pizza! traveling through town cross country and read about it on yelp. crispy crust, tasty toppings. cut into very small--i would almost say bite sized--squares so you before you know it you've eaten 1/2 the pizza yourself... we got extra cheese and it was a LOT of cheese. -we don't usually but the waitress asked if we wanted extra cheese when we ordered and what cheese lover can resist when asked?... sitting inside the bus was fun, stained glass windows and funky decor give the whole place a throwback feel. and if that doesn't do it for you, you can have a seat and play the old school ms. pac man in the entryway. our server was very friendly and helpful, made chit chat without being annoying. how often are waiters at pizza places up for conversation? i had to drop them a star for allowing smoking inside the restaurant. :( P.U. luckily it wasn't too busy when we were there on a sunday night.
(4)tyler g.
I like the atmosphere this restaurant has. Stained glass windows and lamps, a big double decker bus you can sit in. You order over the phone! The staff is very friendly too. The veggie delight pizza is good! Their salads are small and kinda boring, but it's not called salad king...
(4)David L.
Good but overpriced. 16 inch single topping pizza was $21.00. Pizza King in Kokomo much better and only $12.00 for 14 inch single top pizza. Kokomo is take out only but has been in continuous ownership since the early 1960's. VERY THIN crust, pepperoni precooked before preparation, not greasy.
(3)brian a.
Many teenage nights were spent here eating square pieces of pizza and getting pitchers of coke. It's a fucking Indiana tradition! Once my tastes matured, I realized that they put too much sauce on their pies.
