Excellent perch lunch here at the Bass Pro shop. Natalie is an attentive and savvy waiter.

I'd love to give Islamorada Fish Company 4 stars, but I just can't. The ambiance is fun, the service is great, the food is decent, but it's just too pricey. I love sitting at the bar watching the fish in the behemoth tank while I enjoy a snack and a beverage. The bartenders are always friendly and accommodating without being too nosy or hovering too much. The food always arrives on time and the presentation is nice. But I can't believe the hubs and I paid $55 for a salad, wahoo dip, two beers and two margaritas. Ugh. The alligator bites with wasabi dip are delish, the Asian tuna and island grilled Mahi are both worth a try, and I've heard the crawfish po'boy is good as well. However, I don't recommend the fish tacos. The flour tortillas are usually dried out and the fish portion is small. Also, the wahoo dip is tasty, but it comes with Keebler Club crackers, which are shoved in the dip and get really soggy. I don't know why they don't serve it with pita chips or tortilla chips or just about anything else. I'll continue to have a drink or two at the bar because the fish tank is super cool, but I just have to prepare myself ahead of time for the sticker-shock. Congratulations, Bass Pro, you've found more than one way to bleed your customers dry.

First off the appetizer we had was the wahoo and crackers, it was great, the best thing I ate. Our server was very good and atentative.

The food was nothing to rave about, and for the prices we paid, I expected a bit more than what was served: two overly seasoned tilapia filets, a pile of rice, and a pile of cold broccoli. The bread appetizer is really, really good though...so one star for that. The saving grace of our meal was the epic fish tank and great drinks/bartender. We sat belly-up and enjoyed watching all of the saltwater fish swim. So, one star for that! Will be back someday, if only for the bread and cocktails.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch on a Thursday at noon. Waitress was pleasant enough and the food is really pretty good. My wife had the scallops, blackened on top of a salad and I had the sushi-grade tuna, rare. The tuna comes with wasabi, soy sauce in a cup, and sliced ginger, its encrusted and it was prepared rare as I had requested. I also splurged with a salad, with dried cherries and candied pecans and crumble blue cheese. The check with no alcohol, and one soft drink was $43 for lunch before a tip, but it was fairly good quality seafood.
Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to eat here as of yet. My issue has to deal with customer service. Husband and I arrived at the restaurant, standing at Hostess Stand, waiting to be seated. We then told the 2 ladies at the Hostess stand that we are going to do our shopping first, and then we'll be back to eat. Did some shopping, and came back excited to eat lunch. Once again, the same 2 ladies were at the front, and we asked to be seated. Now here is my issue. The ladies then explained that it will be a 30 minute wait, and we are welcome to shop in the store in the while we wait. Why would I go and do additional shopping, when I just came from there? I asked why they didn't inform us when we came in prior that there was a wait, and why didn't' they put us on the list? Amazingly, they had no answer. I can understand if they just "suddenly" got busy, but they didn't even say that....We didn't have the additional 30 minutes to wait, and went to another place for lunch. I am willing to give them another try, and see if the customer service has improved, and hopefully I can experience the food as well

Truly enjoyed the experience. The wait staff was attentive as well as the manager. As this was a business dinner, the atmosphere was quiet allowing for an easy conversation. I had the half order of coconut shrimp with french fries and coleslaw. The sauce was sweet but no over powering and I actually preferred it over my usual cocktail sauce. The shrimp were lightly breaded and good size. The 7 pieces were more than enough for me. My business client had shrimp scampi which she said was also very good. We both finished our meals and that is a good sign the food was good to excellent. I would definitely come back again.

Love the bar scene with the huge salt water tank for display. Their Alligator is delicious, I like for them to grill mine, its not on the menu so you got to ask other ways for them to cook it and their Mahi Mahi is damn good...

Enjoyed an evening of drinks and conversation at the bar watching the fish swim by. Our service was fine - no complaints. Haven't tried the food yet but like the ambiance and can't wait to sit outside in the nice weather.

I really like the large fish tank behind the bar. But when I stopped by to get some food to go, I left the soy sauce and wasabi and ginger out of my seared tuna dinner and The wild rice was way too salty.

I've been here a handful of times and am always impressed. Portage doesn't have a lot of non-chain places to eat but this is tucked inside a Bass Pro at the north end of town and is often easily forgotten. The food is high quality and prepared well. I love the fried alligator appetizer and the salads are fresh and delicious using nuts, dried fruits and fresh veggies. I'm not huge on seafood but even I enjoy a few of their fish dishes. Looks classy inside and I love the huge wall sized aquarium behind the bar. Staff is super friendly and attentive. Wish I would remember this place is here more.

Food was eh, I got the fish and chips. Very slimy and not a very good taste. I did however enjoy there drinks and alligator. Never tried it suprisingly good. Will I go back here probably not. But a fun experience!

Another reviewer described poor customer service at the hostess stand which is where we experienced our snafu. We came in on a Saturday evening around 7pm and it was about 20% occupied. The hostess asked if we wanted to sit at a hi-top table near the fish tank; we declined and asked for a booth. Apparently, that wasn't the correct response. There was an open booth but it hadn't been cleaned yet and after an extended delay, some standing around, and a general lack of urgency on their part - we were seated. Three things - 1. The restaurant was pretty dead and no customers walked out as we walked in; turn your tables over more regularly and faster. 2. There was a 5:1 staff to customer ratio. If you're OVERSTAFFED and dead, turn your tables over more regularly and faster. 3. Don't have a conversation with your coworker about your other job, while I'm waiting for a table that NO ONE is bussing. The manager came over later and our server was good, so that made up for things. However, the manager had to apologize to another table for an issue they had. Now, the food. I had the fried catfish fillets and my wife had the grilled mahi mahi. The food was great. The portions were plentiful and everything tasted fresh. The appetizer bread was amazing. Everything came out very quickly. Stars 2 for food 1.5 for the bread alone 1 for cleanliness and a cool vibe 1 for good service from our server Negative 1.5 for crappy service from the hostess.

Thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The decor made me feel a little bit like I was in Florida, despite the freezing temperatures outside. Service was excellent as well. We started with the smoked Wahoo dip appetizer. Simple but tasty. I had the maple salmon entree and my wife had island grilled mahi. We both cleaned our plates if that is any indication. Finished off with a bread pudding and a chocolate cake, which were both excellent. We spent the whole meal sharing bites off each other's plates. All in all a great place. We can definitely see ourselves returning time and time again.

Absolutely LOVE this restaurant! This is a definite regular date spot for hubby and me! We always make sure we can sit where we can view the fish tank. Always have had great service. Under new management, so hopefully that keeps up! Very sad to see the old manager go! Bread is amazingly delicious-- sometimes we go and only get bread (if we're not hungry enough for a meal). Also, it makes really great repurposed French toast :) Stuffed venison mushrooms are really good for an appetizer. Clam chowder is very good. Cajun chicken pasta is very good. Burgers -- don't get the plain one, but the others are yummy. Key lime pie is really good --a bit on the tart side. Overall, great atmosphere, fair prices, awesome service!

Hostess service is awful. Went in on a Saturday evening and saw a restaurant full of empty tables- told the hostess we had 4 adults and 2 children. I was told, rudely, that it would be a 45 minute wait. I asked why the wait as the restaurant was largely empty. Again I was told, rudely, that "WELL... This is the bar so your kids can't sit there. The back is all booths and only seat 4 people so you have to wait 45 minutes." I asked why I wasn't offered adjoining booths, or why they couldn't just slide a table up to a booth, and was, rudely, given a blank stare. We would up just leaving with no apology from the hostess nor any attempt whatsoever to accommodate us.

This place is really great! The food is excellent and the atmosphere is perfect. The only thing I would've changed was they seem to be a bit unorganized. We were told our party of 7 would have to wait 1 1/2 hours due to already large parties being seated ahead of us. Our actual wait time was 40 minutes. It was like they wanted to discourage us from staying. The wait staff was "ok", but could've been a lot better. Our meals were all perfectly cooked and the portions were plentiful. Over look the staff and you're in for a real treat!!

There's not a lot of seafood places in "The Region" so this is a decent choice besides Red lobster. The food is average prices and the staff is friendly. The bread that came to the table was with a sugar glaze and wasn't that good... It was dry and flaky. Not what I want in a bread. I got the coconut shrimp and alligator for dinner. I wish they offered more than French fries for a side and not charge extra to switch for rice or veggies. The green mystery sauce for the alligator is strange but good. The bill for 2 adults and one child was 50 dollars.

The food here is pretty good. We have been here twice now and have enjoyed our meals on both trips. The service is good and the prices seem fair. On our most recent visit I ordered the bayou platter, which contained catfish etoufee and fried crawfish tails. It was tasty and very filling. My boyfriend ordered the catfish po'boy, which was huge. He was surprised by how good it was. My only two criticisms would be the lack of hot sauce options and the bread served before the meal. We asked for hot sauce and were only presented with Tabasco as an option. For a restaurant that is supposed to be Louisiana backwater themed, this is unacceptable. Also, the complimentary bread is reminiscent of Wonder Bread, spongy and white. I did appreciate the fact that our server asked us if we wanted bread before she brought it so that we had the opportunity to turn it down. Overall, I really like this place.

Food: Salad took about 13 minutes to come out. I didn't time it, I just happened to do something in my phone right after I ordered and was able to look back. This is just a regular salad too, nothing special. I waited another 30 minutes after my salad (a total of 45 minutes) for my Mahi Mahi. Mahi Mahi was cooked well and the wild rice was really good. Grilled pineapple was really tasty! Service: I only saw my waitress/bartender twice through the night. When she took my drink/food order, (which was 10 minutes after I say down at the bar, I contemplated leaving) and when she gave me the check. Runners delivered the food and I was never asked how everything was. Less than attentive, And being in a customer service profession, attentiveness I huge for me. She had 3 other people at the bar, 2 tables and barely made any drinks for anyone else. Very disappointing No TVs in the bar area. Just a giant fish tank, which is neat to look at, but gets old pretty quick and then you just sit there. A TV or two in the corner would be welcomed. Over all, good food, questionable service, decent atmosphere. Not sure if I would return. There are a lot of choices in the area and they didn't "wow" me, in fact left me disappointed. A hour for a glass of wine, a salad and an entrée on a slow night is not acceptable.
