What a great find!! Authentic and very fresh food. Service was excellent! Prices are good too. I don't live in Plainfield but I will definitely be back for this little gem. Thanks Luke for the great menu suggestions for us first timers. They were spot on!!

We have passed Sal's Pizzeria in Plainfield for years. We decided it was time to try their food. Their salad was no doubt the best I have ever had, fresh, crisp and delicious. I wish my entree was as true. I asked for some garlic powder or minced garlic to give the dish some flavor. Unfortunately, it just didn't do the trick. My partner was satisfied with her meal, but didn't feel it was worth the effort to eat there. My server was young and didn't seem to be to interested in trying to satisfy us by suggesting any way to perk up the flavor. I was so disappointed. It maybe another series of years before we try eating there again.

I've eaten here twice since moving to Plainfield. Great pizza and you must try the garlic rolls.

Food is always very good. Have tried several items on the menu and have never been disappointed. The service is hit or miss at best. Wish they'd employee professional servers instead of high school kids, but the quality of the food deserves 5 stars despite the below average service. Overall great value for the quality of items served. Wish they'd rethink the 'extra' charges for things most restaurants provide without question. Seems a little greedy.

Fantastic pizza and garlic rolls. Nice thin crust with crispy but chewy edges. We had the caprese pizza and the Giardiniera - both had fresh ingredients, the right amount of cheese, just a little sauce and lots of flavor. Totally unnecessary because the pizzas are so delicious, but we also had the garlic rolls because everyone said they were great - and they were! Chewy, cheesy, garlicky and great for dipping in the marinara sauce! Wow, that put us over the top. The great thing is we have lots of leftovers!! Definitely a great local pizza joint. We got takeaway and when we went to pick it up the place was packed - another sign of a great pizza joint. You won't be disappointed.

We have decided as a family that this place will get a weekly visit from our family. We have tried many things now and have decided that their base marinara sauce is some of the best we have ever had. Their meatballs are on point. I have decided as of our last visit to order a new house specialty every time we come in. You have to try this place. You really are missing out if you don't.

Wanting to try it and ended up with a 6 hour flight delay. So I decided to go. Decor is very nice and liquor selection looks good. Pepperoni slice is excellent. East coast style in the Midwest. Will be back for sure. Little pricy for a slice but where in Indy are you getting this? No AMEX here. You will have to add Parmesan and Hot Peppers to the slice to get better flavor . Minus a star for no AMEX . Prices should account for added fees. It makes me feel it is not up to par.

I had never been to Sal's even though I've driven past it for years. They now have three locations in Plainfield, Brownsburg and Mooresville. We went to lunch today at the Plainfield location. Lunch is a reduced menu and the full dinner menu is available from 4-10 p.m. The lunch menu prices are very reasonable from Spaghetti Campanola at 5.95 to Vegetarian Calzone at 6.99 being the priciest on the lunch menu with the exception of pizzas. We both ordered the Baked Ziti and Garlic Rolls at the recommendation of a customer dining next to us. The Ziti was baked with a red sauce, ricotta and mozzarella cheese as you would expect. I personally had to add a decent amount of crushed red peppers as I thought it was rather bland. My sister-in-law did not. Of course this isn't unusual for me since I prefer spicy food. It was good, a decent lunch portion and reasonably priced at 6.75. We both agreed we would order again. For me the Garlic Rolls were the highlight of lunch. Four rolls made of homemade pizza dough with garlic, oregano, parmesan and mozzarella cheese rolled inside the knot. These with a salad will be my next lunch here. They are very filling, cheesy and yummy and perfect for sharing. The restaurant has been remodeled and has low lighting, comfortable seating with prompt and excellent service. I certainly will return and look forward to the garlic rolls.

I do enjoy coming here every time we come. They always meet our expectations and more. We like to discuss for a while the music they'd have playing sometimes it's not Italian and we can't place what it is exactly. Right now they have Michael Bubĺe music and we are getting ready to eat our deep dish pizza. It's Wednesday at 2 pm and it's nice and quiet, we are actually the only ones here which is a first, we usually come for dinner and not lunch so it's usually crowded. Nice place. Good food.

Long time customer who eats or orders out 5 to 8 times a week will seek options. VERY good food but growth seems to be at the expense of service. The people tried to correct an acknowledged "to go order issue" but it is clear making sure the customer is satisfied is secondary to chargeing for any thing extra. That was not how Sals, on the side street in Plainfield, gained my loyalty 15 years ago, but thanks for the years past, I did enjoy them.

Fantastic local pizza. Stone oven. Best bread and oil dip in Indy area (made fresh daily). Great people. Great speciality pizzas and good prices. We go almost every week.

You have to go here for the dulci cannoli! It is the best I've ever had and I have had my fair share of cannolis.

The food was just as good as the Mooresville location and I would say that the layout/decor is better. The wait staff while nice wasn't the most attentive I have experienced. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time though they had just cleared out several tables so I don't know how a full restaurant would have affected this. I would definitely recommend this location for a date or just a family night out. It took about 10 minutes before anyone greeted us at the host stand. This trend continued throughout the night with several people walking out from frustration.

Family outing. Dining area is nice and very open. Wide variety on the menu. Went with the manicotti. Bland and not much flavor. Not in any rush to go back anytime soon. Wait staff was attentive. Kitchen was slow.

This place has gone down hill! We have been regulars - at least once a week - and will no longer go back. Food is nothing great - pasta from the freezer, no flavor in anything. Pizza is horrible - soggy crust, undercooked (cheese not melted), and the tiramisu is NEVER fresh. Not worth the money you will waste!!

I am generally skeptical about ethnic restaurants in small places, particularly in the Midwest, so I expected another Papa Joe (Avon) experience (which was horrible). However, this time the food was really good. I had bruscetta, minestrone, veal pizzaiola, and spumoni. Everything was good, but the veal pizzaoila (with spaghetti) was exception. In fact, I was in Florence two weeks ago, and this could easily hold its own with some of the dishes I ate there. While Sal's isn't cheap, compared to Donato's or Pizza Hut, it is very affordable for the quality it provides. An absolute gem!

OK. So this is a terrible situation that had a good ending. We had never been to Sal's before so we decided we would go to the one in Brownsburg but when we called to verify their hours the phone number did not work. So we called the Plainfield location and they advised us that the Brownsburg location was closed for remodel. So we asked what time they closed and the guy said 10pm so we said see you soon. We got in the car and get there at 915pm and there was a couple standing at the register to pick up their order and the girl who later was identified as Madison asked us were we there to pick up and order or dine in and we said that we would be dining in and she looked over at the clock and said that we are closing due to the weather. So that ticked me off good and proper because she was smart mouthed when she said that. And my quick whit replied that not only did i call to verify that you were open and what time you closed but i just drove 20 minutes to get here. you are going to serve me. So she yelled for a guy in the back to come take over the register for her. I assumed she did that so she could seat us. Oh no she went over to the corner and stood there and mumbled to another female server about us insisting on eating. After the guy finished cashing out the couple in front of us we told him what transpired and he said well let me seat you and that he would take care of us. We asked for a manager and was told they were busy in the back. What manager is too busy to come out and speak to a guest. Business 101 will tell you that if you have no customers then you have nothing to be busy for. So we let that go. So the guy that waited on us was named Lucas and he took good care of us. We ordered the Garlic Rolls. Those were by far the best I have ever eaten. I literally could go there and eat nothing else and be satisfied. But we are not that smart so we ordered a large pizza I cannot remember the name of it but it was a meat pizza with pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and ham. and it was a very good pizza!! Let me back up for a second. Lucas brought out some bread with our drinks and 1st appearance it just looked like a few slices of white bread and I was unimpressed at first sight. But I was hungry so I picked up a piece and took a bight and it was pretty good. and then the oil they put on the table to dip it in was some special recipe of their own and it was really good too. So again we are not too smart. and we ordered a Chicken Stromboli. I did not enjoy this at all but it was not their fault, it had ingredients that I already knew I do not like. I hate cooked spinach and I really hate mushrooms so I did not eat any of that but my partner did and he said it was good but not as good as all the previous food we ordered. This was Saturday night February 28th around 915pm was when we were here. They have coke products. yuck. I keep thinking one day restaurants will serve both pepsi and coke. Sal can thank Lucas for turning an experience that would have made us NEVER come back to one where we will go back and request him as our server. The moral to this story is you should not hire young kids with smart mouths who do not want to work in the first place. My guess is she is probably a relative as nobody else would put up with an employee like that.

I was very happy with Sal's...a group of us (six total) went there for lunch today and we were all taken care of. The food was delicious, promptly delivered, and reasonably priced. I look forward to exploring more of the menu.

The NEW atmosphere is a vast improvement but we are paying for it !! The service and food --- wonderful !!! The prices, not so much. Welcoming and friendly will be the way the serving staff greet you and continue to care for you throughout your meal. They make sure you have plenty of the fresh baked bread and you never have to ask for a refill of any beverage....very attentive. The menu is a good mix of the Italian flair and the food is good !!! If children are along the menu for them is actually good too. I would say smaller cups for the kiddies would be an enhancement, those big ones just don't fit little hands. The wine menu isn't too bad but I would like to see more choices if you wanted to order by the glass. For a good glass of wine you must invest in a bottle. The "old" place was closed off and you felt crowded....the new place is open and plenty of booth space....but the price of the meals reflects the new construction cost. It is a hometown place and I promote those type of places, but eating at Olive Garden is less expensive and honestly the breadsticks are better. (stick with the home baked bread, and it's free) I will go back. I didn't try the pizza and when you walk in and see the fire raging in the fire oven where the pizza is baked makes the need to experience it something you will want to try.... Overall, I like the place.....just wish the prices were a little less.

Meh. It never ceases to amaze me how some Italian restaurant's lower the lighting, buy square plates and charge 13 bucks for a plate of pasta. The food was good, but not that good. The service was great, but the prices were a little pretentious. Not impressed.

This is the best Italian food on Indy's Westside. But as others have stated, it's no longer worth the prices. As they have gotten more popular the prices have crept up until it is no longer a good deal to eat here. Our family of 5 cost $75 with tip, and that was without desserts or alcohol. The new renovation is gorgeous but noisy (there are no interior walls so it echoes like a cave.) The staff seem overworked and under-trained, but are trying their best. So yes, a solid restaurant but be prepared to pay.

This is more than a Pizzeria. Sal's has a huge selection of Italian food. It was recently remodeled and the food is great. Much better than a chain restaraunt!!

The new wood fire oven makes the pizza magnifico! The spinach and cheese roll is great. Great Italian food at a reasonable price structure.

Incredible pizza! Sauce was perfect. Pizza was cooked in a wood fired stove which I think makes the crust really tasty. Recently renovated.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
