My husband and I love going to Boondocks! Just last week we called ahead to see if we could bring our dog Cash if we sat outside in their beer garden and Shawna ( the owner ) said ABSOLUTELY! Shawna and Steve are always so nice and seem genuinely happy to see us. Their bartenders have always been top notch and I cannot get enough of their loaded "potachoes" nachos made with potatoes instead of chips, pulled pork, corn salsa and a wonderful sauce! We are so glad to have a place like boondocks in our town.... They are an absolute asset! They are so unique from their Cajun menu items to their French Quarter decor and "where everybody knows your name" style of service! I highly recommend a visit!

I read the other review and it did fit our situation. We were stopping off on the way to the Association fot Gravestone Studies Conference in Franklin, IN as I wanted to get a picture of Cole Porter's Grave on the way. The local Chapters never seem to meet there. I expected open on a weekday afternoon and decent. It was maybe the best burger I have had in a while. I did the Verde Burger and it has a homemade Chili Verde sauce and fried green tomatoes. Seriously, when was the last time you ate a burger that did not need a slather of ketchup? The fries are really good and garlicy, like rolled in garlic and oil... they also did not need ketchup! Isn't that a good sign, order a burger and fries and you do not need an extra condiment. Leaving we noticed that they probably do bbq. I bet it's great! We also said to one another, this is probably the best place in town. They have a bar, good food and live music. If I were closer I would probably spend a lot of time here!

Fantastic food! In our group of 9 no one ordered the same item. Everyone raved about what they ate. Large menu for every want. From jambalaya to steak. Service was great. Our server (Deb) was attentive but not pesky, very quick service from drinks to entrees. Extremely fair prices. Only drawback is the interior, very dark with dark walls and decor. With the New Orleans decorations not sure how to fix. Great experience, will be back!

The owners are going for a New Orleans flare. It's not quite New Orleans, but it is very good. The sacred soup was very good...I've never had that combination in a potato soup. The big easy (burger) was good. I also like the minor touches like jalapeño ketchup and the music. Decent beer selection and staff was friendly (not very busy tonight). Friends said the cod was OK, but probably not the highlight of the menu. Overall enjoyed a relaxing night here.

This is the best restaurant we have tried in this little town. The alligator and the jambalaya were amazing. The bartenders were great and very friendly.

Not sure I would go back here. Very noisy, had a very small steak and my wife's chicken wasn't very tasty. The staff was very nice though.

On a weekday afternoon we had a destination to the town of Peru, IN We were referred here. (because there are a lot of BARS in this town..) Which to choose? This one! We both ordered a Blue Moon and they served it in blue moon pilsner glasses. So clean and fresh! For lunch the fries were fresh cut, steak fries. We had chicken sandwhiches. In this perticular afternoon they played Rat Pack sinatra and the likes of old Las Vegas and it was very cozy

The last time we dined here the wait was exceptionally long. Almost an hour before getting our food. In the past we have had no problems. Also, my BIL recv'd the onion tangler crumbs at bottom of fryer basket. I will say that it was handled beautifully though. A large plate of onion tanglers with 2 sauces came out immediately. My Shring Po-Sandwich was skimpy this time around. Was a bit disappointed. Our waitress was very friendly and doing her best. We enjoy the cozy atmosphere here before the loud drinking crowd comes.

This is a fantastic place. Boondocks has a decent variety of food for anyone to choose from. Be sure you read the menu to know what your getting, if the steak is to be chat crusted it is listed on the menu. The char Crust is fantastic on the filet. You can never go wrong with a tenderloin or chicken strips. They recently started making crab cakes which are good too. So if you haven't tried the place, do so. It's awesome !
