The new owner makes the place even better. Great food, friendly service make this a winner of a location. He is starting to make some changes to add healthy food options and even change up the interior to make it brighter.

Very nice local restaurant. Unique atmosphere and very friendly, personable service. My coworkers and I came here for lunch while working in Pendleton. We were warmly greeted at the door and thanked for coming in. The tenderloin here seems exceptional. My coworkers absolutely raved about it and it did look very impressive and delicious. Being a vegetarian I passed on the tenderloin but I overheard other diners comment on how it was the best in Indiana. There weren't any vegetarian sandwiches on the menu but the server told me I was welcome to order the grilled cheese kids meal. It was very tasty, served with a large portion of tasty fries and really good pickle slices.

Passing through, was recommended by a local. I thought I'd had the best breaded tenderloin ever prior to my visit. Not so. This place took over first place. Kind of slow but looked short staffed. Worth the little wait. I'm sure prices are a little high for locals, but in Indy it would be a very fair price. Had to box the leftovers. (Two meals) The Unknown Diner digs it the most!

Excellant dinner at "The Bank" A very short drive off of I-69 into the historic town of Pendleton, IN. Recent new owners Gary and Robin have done a great job to make this a great destination. I had the Broasted chicken dinner which was fantastic. My wife had the Parmesan Crusted Pork The portions will have you walking out with a to go box. You can bank on your next visit to "The Bank"

Sandwiches here were pretty good in flavor but not so good in quantity and prices. Price could have been a little less or the meat on the sandwich alot more.

This was my first time to The Bank, it had a lot of small town charm. With good food and prices. I had the turkey reuben which had slaw on it and it was really good. I really enjoyed my green beans also. Other people in my party had the catfish and broasted chicken which seems to be The banks specialty. I will make a trip back!

Saturday night, only three waitresses, and the kitchen was very slow. We waited at the door to be seated for over five minutes. One person received cole slaw, and we were told everything else was coming out soon. Ten minutes later, I got my bowl of chili, and we were told everything else was coming out soon. Five minutes later, and we received about half of our food. Chicken tenders were brought out instead of chicken salad, and a complimentary house salad was brought out to "correct" that problem. After the other half of the food was brought to us, one of us was still missing a side dish and has to ask for it. My garlic chicken breast was thin, but moist. It had an indiscriminate amount of garlic powder sprinkled on it, probably while it was being grilled. A taste from another person at the table brought the comment that it tasted like a frozen entree meal chicken breast. Another person at our table ordered the tenderloin, and it was so salty that he was unable to finish it. The corn fritters were great, though.

Stopped in for a late lunch. We were seated promptly. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. The food wasn't bad for pub grub, with a fair amount of the lunch menu requiring a deep fat fryer to prepare. I opted for a salad. The cajun chicken was well spiced, but suffered by being piled on a place of iceberg lettuce. I was also saddened to see the dressing served in a styrofoam container. Really? Can't get a few ceramic ramekins? The other items served to the table looked pretty good, including a cheeseburger, fish & chips, teriyaki chicken sandwich & onion rings. The fried items weren't terribly greasy, but the fryer temp might have been a bit high as the fries were a little beyond golden brown without being hot inside. The thing that was the least appealing was the busboy's cleaning spray. I think they need to test the concentration in the bottle, as whatever was in there was strong enough to make me cough a little. Given it is pretty close by, we'll likely pop in again and give dinner a try.

My cousin, Kay, and I are here last year and both of us had good food. It's a very unique little cafe on the main street housed in an old (I mean OLD) bank building. There is a bar upstairs they call "The Vault". I stopped in here this trip and just wanted a light meal so I got the soup and salad. The chicken noodle soup was obviously homemade by the good flavor. The lettuce wasn't real fresh but the ranch dressing was real good and the tomato tasted fantastic--Indiana tomatoes are the best! The booths are huge and spacious, the waitress cheerful, friendly and chatty. The A/C was a little chilly to suit me. I will be going back to try more items!

Very fresh ingredients help make this spot special. The broasted chicken is the best ever...moist and very flavorful. If you like breaded tenderloin sandwiches, give theirs a try... it's as big a Buick hubcap. I've eaten here many times and can't get much past either of those choices. Their salad dressings are homemade, too. Extremely reasonable prices.

I really enjoy TBR, it's not a bad place. It's one of Pendleton's only surviving mom and pop places. I usually get a burger. Not bad, nothing wrong with it, the service is good, the atmosphere is nice and the prices are a little on the high end. But I like this place enough to make a stop at least once when I'm in town.

Enjoyed a great lunch for my first time ever eating at Bank Restaurant. This place was recommended to me by a Pendleton resident so I decided to stop here on my way through town. The Bank Restaurant isn't a fancy, five-star eatery, nor does it try to be. It's a got a hometown feel and seems like its got a history as well. The place was pretty empty when we walked in, but we were greeted with a smile and immediately shown to our booth. I ordered the Reuben sandwich, which wasn't anything to rave about but still delicious. However, I loved their french fries, which were very crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside (how they should be). My father ordered the monster fish sandwich, which was appropriately named. It consisted of a huge piece of pollack that stuck out a couple of inches on either side on the bun. He said it was a great fish sandwich for being in the Midwest... best one he's had in a while. The prices are a bit higher than what you might want to pay for lunch (around $7-$10), but the portions are pretty generous. Not a place I would eat everyday, but the atmosphere is laid back, the music is relaxing, and the staff is friendly. The walls look a bit empty and the place could use a little touching up, but its nothing to complain about. Also, be sure to check out the bathrooms. Sounds like an odd suggestion, but they have funny Monopoly paintings with quotes like "Thanks for making deposit at the Bank!" in front of the toilet. Right now I would recommend this place to anyone passing through the area. I plan to come back again, especially to check out their dinner menu and maybe the bar upstairs called "The Vault."

I just love this place! I am from Los Angeles and visit my sister about twice a year and this is always a must! My favorite is their broasted chicken and I love that they have baked sweet potato as a side. If you're in town, visit. I hope you'll like it as much we do!

This is the second former-bank restaurant I've eaten at--the first was called The Vault, and was located in Boothbay Harbor (I believe it closed years ago). The floor plan was fairly boring, actually, but having the bar upstairs in the loft was kind of interesting. (It also helped to keep the cigarette smoke up and away from the floor level.) The booths downstairs had very tall barriers between them, which was a nice touch; would prevent the kids in the next booth from getting all in your face while you're trying to eat. I can best describe the atmosphere as "dim." Even with our candle lit we had to squint at the menu a little. Looking at the menu at first, the prices seemed a little steep, but then the food came out. The other reviewer was really not kidding when he said the tenderloin is the size of a hubcap! We got the tomato soup, which was very, very sweet, but not bad after the addition of DBF's usual load of crackers. The salmon sandwich was good, and the corn fritters were delicious! Sweet and smooth-textured, with corn kernels inside. The fries were also fried well (a little brown, but not overcooked-tasting, and nicely crispy). After eating all that we only managed to nibble on the edge of the tenderloin, which had to come home with us. I definitely want to go back again and try some of the other dishes.
