I was totally underwhelmed by this restaurant. I absolutely love Mexican food, and I can almost always find something positive about nearly every Mexican spot I have ever visited. But I am really unable to find anything to recommend about our dinner at Rio Grande. Our group of eight arrived around 4:00 pm, only a few other diners were present. Service was fair to poor. Our server was prompt bringing chips and salsa, and taking our order but then seemed to disappear. She returned after quite some time bringing seven meals but my friend who was sitting on my right did not receive her food. The server left without explanation and we just assumed she was returning to the kitchen for the eighth meal. However she did not return. We didn't see her or any other server or staff at all in the dining room for at least ten minutes. Finally she walked by with a water pitcher and we mentioned that one person was still waiting for her food. The server said, "What did you order?" And then returned to the kitchen. Another five to ten minutes passed before she brought out the meal. She offered no apology or explanation, just set the plate down. After this we didn't see her again at all until she came with the checks. Food was extremely bland. No spice or heat, and no hot sauce on our table or any other table that we could see. If our server had returned or had even been in sight we would have asked if perhaps Tabasco was available. The server was indifferent throughout and I would say that none of us felt like our business was appreciated. If the food had been better we most likely give this place a second chance, but with nearly a dozen excellent Mexican restaurants in the Noblesville /Fishers area I doubt that we will. I will say that the dining room was large, nice and appeared clean. So that is a plus.

Food was great but the Service was very slow again. Our waitress act like she didn't care if she was helping her customers or not. We asked three times for a menu. We asked twice for a refill. We asked four times for our check. Asked twice for a takeout box finally had to get up and get it.

If I could give zero stars I would. We just moved to town and went to Rio twice. Had terrible service both times, food was OK but they messed up our order both times. The "manager" apologized and offered me a $10 gift card to give them another try. So today I did, order my take on to go and went to pay with the gift card and the cashier said it was invalid. The manager showed up and said sorry too bad for you. We will never go back here. I am sure they don't care. Lots of places don't care anymore because people will come there anyway. Oh well...

Great service. Excellent fresh food. I haven't had a bad experience here. The margaritas are huge. The salsa is very fresh. They have the best beans around.

Food is pretty good but bland compared to other Mexican places. No hot sauce on the table? Service was pretty slow on a Sunday night.

I had a few hours to kill between a wedding and reception and decided to stop in. Ordered a small frozen raspberry margarita and it was huge! The salsa was good! I went with fajitas for lunch. The meat was tender and cooked perfectly. The rice and beans were so so. The service was okay, not too fast. I asked for a box. She brought it back. I waited 5 minutes and no check. I ended up walking to the back and taking her my credit card. There were never more than 3 tables seated so I'm not sure what was taking so long! Total price for fajitas and margarita was about $19.

The food was OK the problem is I'm getting tired of the same food from every Mexican place I walk into! It was 20 years ago when Taco Bell was the only Mexican food around and that was very sad. Know we have a Mexican joint on every corner but they all seem to be the same food! I would like to see some REAL Mexican places set up and start to serve the food of Mexico not a Tex Mex water down menu. WE are big people and need to step out of our white bread would and find out what the would of food is about.HELP PLEASE! Remember to eat well and live well, and no chains.

Great presentation on the lunch specials! And they also carry El Mayor; my favorite tequila! Anything chicken is great! Love the flavor! Lunch specials are pretty normal pricing; $5.99. Salsa is probably my favorite at a Mexican restaurant ever! Only complaint is the service was pretty slow. Had to ask for things repeatedly. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back!!!

The first time I went to Rio Grande I was underwhelmed by the service. However, the restaurant had just opened and the food was so good I had to go back. I've gone back a few times since then and the service has greatly improved. This is one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area.

5 stars for the food and drinks!!! Have been here many times and will go back for the food and drinks. However, the service is terrible. One lady is incredibly rude everytime we have her as a server, and the other one calls everyone sweetie and speaks in a really fake high pitched voice - its nauseating. We also do occassional carry out (and do tip), and they are rude as can be everytime. I hope the owner gets some servers that can get it together.

Finally got around to trying this place out on New Year's day. From the name, I was expecting Tex-Mex, and I wasn't disappointed. Our food came quickly, our drinks were always refilled in time, and the food was quite good. The presentation was excellent. The only negative... the waitress forgot to bring my Salsa Tomatillo.

New place in Noblesville. Great queso. Very nice and laid back. Music isn't too loud. Full bar, multiple tvs for sports. Outside patio seating. Great food and service.

I looked over Yelp reviews and still decided to give this place a try. I honestly got a little better of an experience then expected. Our party of six was seated within five minutes on a fairly busy Friday night. Within two minutes we had plenty of chips and drinks ordered. The chips weren't great but they were free! We ordered and all had our food quickly. My enchiladas were fresh and very tasty. I do like Mexican food but not spicy food. This was perfect for me. Others at the table did request hot sauce. The server brought out several different choices. I asked why the sauce wasn't on the table an he said because people steal it!? This isn't a chain restaurant so I guess they like to make sure they don't have all of their sauces stolen? I get it. My only complaint was the service. We had a great experience and then the server dropped off our bills and was nowhere to be found for twenty minutes? We weren't in a hurry but it was odd. There were servers just standing around playing on their phones while others servers bussed and served their tables. It was weird to see half the employees hanging out?? Anyways, over all the food was really good. Servers need trained better and 1$ for a side of sour cream is a bit much but we will probably be back.

The food is really good. My wife and I like it a lot. The only caution I would have is if you pay by credit or debit card to check your charges. It seems the last time we went our server, Eric, added a bigger tip for himself. We had it taken care of with our credit card company.

I've been here a few times hoping that this time will be better. It's not happening. Seems like they go out of their way to be rude. Trust me your a real bother by just dropping in. The food is standard Mexican fare, nothing I would write home about. The bar is large as well as the dinning area. They have an out door seating area for the warmer months. You can gaze over the beautiful parking lot and watch people drop off their dry cleaning. Someone has put In a lot of time and effort to not go all the way and train the staff.

Very good Mexican restaurant. Modern, spacious, clean, and very neat, pretty plating of the food. Food is delicious and very fresh tasting as the name implies, lots of tasty items to try. Good location, not far from Noblesville or Cicero. I really enjoy taking a trip to Rio Grande, one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area.

I absolutely love this place! Friendly servers, delicious food, and big delicious margaritas. I've been here 10+ times and have yet to have a bad experience with service or food quality. Simply an amazing experience which I would gladly recommend to anyone and everyone!!!!

My wife and I stopped in to the Rio Grande this week. The restaurant looked inviting enough from the road. When we got inside we were greeted by a congregation of three employees loitering around the front desk, none of whom smiled or were in any way friendly. My wife and I sat at the bar. I ordered two drinks, and the bartender, who was just as unfriendly as the first three employees we'd encountered, served our drinks and dropped the menus in front of us. She also gave us some chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh, and fairly good...nothing special. But after the bartender took our order I began looking around the restaurant, and I noticed a lot of signs of a management staff that is unconcerned with the customer experience and appearance of the facility. They had a huge stack of beer cases behind the bar, and a lot of miscellaneous junk lying in the lower areas of the bar. As I looked up at the mirrored bar back I noticed that many of the martini glasses hanging upside down under the shelves looked filthy. Bottle necks showed a lot of finger prints (easy to see with the dark bar backing and the spots that shine down from above. The bar top wasn't clean, either. My wife set her arm along the rail and there was something that appeared to be cheese sauce laying there, so that ended up on her sleeve. The same sauce was along the rail at my seat. So someone had clearly been there recently, and whoever cleaned up after them did a poor job. As we waited for the bartender to return I looked around and noticed that most of the help within eye-shot were sitting around doing nothing. It seemed a bit strange to see employees in a restaurant simply loafing around, seated in tables in the middle of the dining area. That's apparently allowed here, because it went on for quite a while, and those doing weren't corrected. As we sat at the bar one of the kitchen staff came out two separate times with a ball of "fried ice cream" in her hand. She held the ice cream in one palm, then reached down to pick up a martini glass, dropped the ice cream in the glass, then handed it to a server. It seemed a bit weird to see kitchen help walking around with food in their palm, then serving that food. Here's a tip for the manager: how about having the kitchen help walk out and pick up the glass before she fries the ice cream, so she has the stemmed glass when the ice cream is ready...rather than her walking around in front of customers holding food in the palm of her hand? I went into the restroom, which was clean enough (something that I always check). But there were about two dozen old mollies in the walls. Apparently whatever they used to have on the walls was removed, or moved, and they simply left those blue and green colored mollies right there in the wall, instead of removing them and filling in the holes with grout (tile). The whole restaurant experience whispered, "lazy" to me. There are so many things that could be done better that good management should see and fix on the spot. Most of the issues would be fairly easy to fix. But not in a restaurant where the wait staff sits on their butts if they don't have a table to serve. The food was in no way special. The prices are pretty fair. But when the food is mediocre, there's no such thing as a "good deal." The two most significant complaints I had with this restaurant are the cleanliness problems, and the unfriendly staff. It's been at least a decade since I've been to a restaurant where the staff was this dour. This restaurant should find a good board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA) who can spend a couple days watching the employees work and interact with each other and the customers, and develop a plan to teach this wait staff how to property serve and interact with customers. A good BCBA should be able to improve your wait staff's performance enough double the gross revenues of this place. I usually give a restaurant at least two chances. But I don't like unfriendly wait staff. So I'll make an exception in this case, and avoid returning.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon, there was only one other table with guests. There were plenty of servers standing around, but our service was poor anyway. Our server never smiled & was not friendly. The food was okay, but it took a long time. The iced tea was cloudy and tasted bad. I doubt we will ever go there again, even though it is very close to our home. I'd rather drive 20 minutes, have pleasant and prompt service and fresh iced tea.

Nicer than most Mexican spots with good prices. I had the fish tacos and not only were they tasty but it was a good presentation of food. I give the salsa 7 out 10. Service was good. If I had to complain about one thing it's lack of beer selection. Just the standard crap beer miller lite etc. if you live in Nobelsville and like Mexican food give it a shot, I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Excited that they finally opened we ventured out to give it a shot on a Friday evening. Margaritas were huge!! Order the small or medium. The presentation of the meals was nice, the food was good quality, although a Little on the cold side. The service was extremely slow!! It was a Two hour experience, I'm not exaggerating !!! This is unfortunate This location has had a difficult time sustaining a restaurant for years and my hopes were high. If they don't increase wait staff they won't be there long

So first impressions - cute place. Not dark or dorky. Wait was due to kitchen back-up. Server was good, bartender was lazy and had a bad attitude. Food going out looked good - ours was awesome. Wish we hadn't ate so many chips. Hoping they get their stuff together soon!

We finally tried this place on March 5th. Service was fair. Salads were huge and fresh. The chicken and beef was tough. The shrimp was the best dish.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
