Went here last weekend and it was pretty busy. My wife and I came here for lunch. We ordered fajitas and beef tongue tacos. The tacos were very tender and delicious. The fajitas were very flavorful. This is pry some of the best Mexican food in Noblesville. Prices are so low and the food quality so high that it seems like steal. I would give 5 stars but I reserve that for places that knock my socks of and this place came close but didn't quite.

This is the perfect little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. I've never had a bad experience and I love to go almost every week!

Fantastic service and food. Having lived in California for 30 years, I've been on the hunt for authentic Mexican food in Indiana. El Palenque will not disappoint! Not the greatest ambiance (which, I suppose, is a hallmark of most authentic Mexican restaurants), but the quality of food is very good. The best Mexican I have has in Indiana yet (and don't miss the horchata!)

My husband and I chose this restaurant based on the good reviews here but did not find a similar experience. We dined on a Friday evening about 3 weeks ago. The chips were very tasty and fresh but the salsa lacked flavor and was quite runny. We ordered the double order of combination fajitas and while it was cooked properly, it was extremely salty; almost as if someone had slipped with the salt. The service was prompt and very friendly but based on the quality of the food we will not return.

Sal is the best! He is the reason we have been coming since they opened. My family and I are really sad leaving this place behind as we move to Florida. Definitely worth visiting over and over!!

Went to El Palenque for their 2-year anniversary and enjoyed the Mariachi group. Quite a fun way to celebrate my favorite local Mexican restaurant!

Simply excellent every time. The menu is typical for a Mexican restaurant in Indiana, but all you have to do to get real Mexican food is ask. Sometimes they have pozole or menudo. One weekend they we having a wedding reception and I was able to get a special lamb stew. I highly recommend that everyone try tacos de lengua. These are tacos that I first tried from a street vendor in Mexico City. They are tender beef tongue with onions and cilantro on soft corn tortillas. Add a little tomatillo salsa and you will love these tacos.

We've lived in Noblesville for 20+ years....this is BY FAR the best Mexican in a 10 mile radius. Great flavors, terrific service and whata bargain! So happy to have had dinner here. We'll be back soon!

El Palenque has, for me, consistently proven itself to be the best Mexican restaurant in the Hamilton County area. There is pretty much nothing that I find negative about this place. In fact, I feel almost at home when I'm eating here...there's a strange sense of calm that comes with the deliciousness. For starters, the service here knocks it out of the park every time. I have never known servers at a restaurant to be this friendly. We basically know our main waiter personally by now, since we go so often. He remembers our drink orders and always jokes with my dad in Spanish...I just love how nice they are here. The food has really never disappointed. El Palenque offers both the average Midwest Mexican food as well as more authentic stuff that you would find in a Latino neighborhood of Indy, or the like. The regular Mexican food that you find on menus throughout the area has always been significantly BETTER than at other places. In fact, this place has basically ruined other Midwest Mexican restaurants for me, since it's so much better. The authentic dishes are pretty stellar too; they have a lot of things you don't think about places around here having. My dad usually manages to get something that they've been cooking for themselves that isn't even on the menu. Also, this place has mariachi bands on and off, so that's always fun to go to. Usually, the busiest time here is on Sunday mornings, since a large church crowd visits, but most other times besides that and mariachi nights you'll find a pretty peaceful environment. Basically this place knocks it out of the park.

So we haven't had lunch and finding a place that's open during odd hours to grab a bite is difficult. We made the 15 min drive from Fishers to nearby Noblesville away from all the chain pizza and sandwich places nearby. In the corner of the strip mall right off of SR37 is a Mexican restaurant. When you see actual Latinos trekking into El Palenque at 3pm, you know it's gotta be good. While we were pressed on time, we ordered a few different tacos to go - al pastor, asada y chorizo, and pescado. Now these weren't the Tex-Mex or gourmet dressed tacos you're used to. I like it simple. Just the protein, cilantro, onions, and lime wedge along with homemade firey red pepper sauce or the mild tomatillo sauce. Not to mention, the meal came with a complimentary side of tortilla chips and salsa. Meats were flavorful and nicely spiced. The tilapia taco was delicious, nicely shredded fish (not a fried fish stick) with a hint of spice to give it a kick. These tacos were quite large and filling, but for $5.99 for 3 tacos - totally worth it. Now it's time for a siesta. Next time we'll dine in to try some new things off the menu.

What a wonderful restaurant. The tacos are absolutely delicious. I loved the chorizo and the beef tongue. The pork skin is too slimy. The rice and beans are delicious too. I will definitely be back.

Smaller restaurant, end unit of a shopping center. Not much to brag about when you arrive at the door. We were greeted quickly by friendly service and received our food just as fast. My husband and I ordered the steak tacos....we were not disappointed! We were very pleased with the food and will definitely go again.

My husband and I love this place. We always have great service and the food is delicious. They season everything so well. I highly recommend their Arroz con Pollo.

Yes get the tacos. Like so many other Yelpers have stated before, you will not be disappointed. My wife and I were in Noblesville looking for a place to grab a late lunch. As always we consulted the all powerful Yelp to determine what was in the area. El Palenque appeared and it was the tacos that drew us in. We got the chorizo, carnitas, carne asada, asada y chorizo, al pastor, and pescado. Yes we were hungry and decided to create our own taco flight. They were all great, but the asada y chorizo and al pastor were the ones that will keep you coming back for more.

4 1/2 stars??? ReALLY??? You people have no idea what good Mexican food is! I can get the same dry pre-formatted tacos at taco bell!!! Rice was good but not the best. Beans were good, but not convinced it wasn't canned. Chips were warm but doubtful they were made there. Several huge tubs full that they warm a little at a time. Not fresh. I grew up in California. This is NOT great Mexican food!

LOVE to eat here. Great food and extra friendly service. Also love the fact that they have those giant bombers of corona familiar. That's an added bonus

Delicious!!! The food was really good for how cheap it was. The employees there were really nice and got your food out in a very timely manner. Recommend this place for family dinners or if needing a quick lunch place as well.

AMAZING tacos, quite possibly the best I've had in the Indy area. Add green salsa and some jalapeños and they become even more mind-blowing. Decent chips too with solid-albeit-mild red salsa. Tried the lengua, pastor, chorizo, and asada tacos ... a TON of food even for my massive appetite, I'll stop at 3 tacos next time. Loved them all. Quite possibly the best lengua taco that I've had anywhere, anytime, anywho. Go out of your way to visit here, it truly is worth the trip. A real gem in Noblesville.

I ate here when they first opened. I thought it was horrible and distinctly remember the salsa tasting like soap. Given all the high reviews here, we decided to try it again. I honestly don't know how so many people rate this as high as they do. I had the steak tacos and the meat was relatively tasteless and tough. My family had a myriad of other dishes and the consensus was the same. It's very meh. There are much better choices in the area by way of el rodeo on 37 or el Camino on 10th street.

Sal rocks - great waiter and very personable. Tacos with shredded chicken with pico - corn soft shells - tuff to eat three. Wife and I spilt them - I eat 2 and she eats one. Get a pop or two and you eat well and authentic for under $10.00 for two. Wife and I have eaten there at least 50 times. Taken friends, relatives, associates and customers here. Only had I person say it was "OK" . I think he does not know authentic and is a Debbie Downer anyway. Only place in Midwest that makes authentic Mexican tacos I have found. Spent over 9 months in Mexico on numerous business over the years / telling you this is close as it gets to being in Mexico City . Tacos Mexicanos is a new one I have eaten several times. Want a true Mexican experience / go on karaoke night . Did it once and had a great time .

We were in Indianapolis for a family reunion a day early. We had looked on Yelp and headed off for a pre reunion lunch only to find the place closed. Oh year, time change! Back to Yelp and El Palenque to the rescue. Obviously it was past the main lunch time but we were treated like gold. My daughter, my granddaughter and I got great service and wonderful food, plus a spanking clean high chair. I had three tacos, all fabulous. The carne asada was superb. The Al pastor was my favorite of all time. Then I tasted the Carnitas. A trio of tempting tastes all which were triple good. Isn't so fun that they let me create a sort of Taco flight? If I am ever back in Indy, I will definitely come back here. Oh, you're there now? What are you waiting for?

Great food, friendly staff. I recommend the Arroz con Pollo. Good for a date night or dinner with kids. Chips and salsa served prior to meal, spice it up with guacamole or queso.

Authentic! I'm from L.A. When it came to Mexican food I got spoiled there. This is the best in this area so far. The tacos here are taco truck good! So yummy

My husband and I got the tacos. I opted for the fish tacos! Love the flavor. My husband ordered carne asada. Lovely little street tacos! The refried beans were excellent. Chips are fresh and paired with chunky salsa.

My fiancé and I eat at El Palenque about once a week and have never been disappointed. Portions are larger than competitors and the overall quality of the food is superior. The salsa is incredible and always tastes incredibly fresh!

I have no idea where these 5-star reviews are coming from!? The service is fine, I'll give it that. But the food? Mediocre. I did not enjoy the salsa. Atmosphere still feels like the Skyline Chili it once was. Lots of boxes visible in the open-air prep kitchen. This is nothing more than a quick lunch spot in a bind.

Places in Indiana keep very odd hours. Then there was the time change, so by the time we wanted to lunch, not many places were open. Pulled up the Yelp app and saw this highly rated restaurant still open to the public. Hooray! I was starving, so I ordered the super size sampler meal (not its official name). It had an enchilada, tostada, taco, chile rellano, rice, beans and I think one other thing. It all came out on two huge plates. My eyes were just a *bit* bigger than my stomach, but I did sample everything and it was all fantastic. I liked the variety of sauces, the huge portions and the spectacular prices. Turns out I am glad this was where we ended up as this was one of the better meals we had in the area. Z was also quite pleased that we ended up here as I let her try some of the refried beans. She gave it two thumbs up - or she just stuck out her tongue and begged for more.

El Palenque is located in a strip mall on Conner St. in Noblesville, but don't let the non-existent atmosphere or the tacky writing on the outside windows fool you - THIS PLACE IS THE REAL DEAL! We were greeted with a smile as soon as we walked in, and within just a few moments had our chips and a very delicious salsa. Our waitress was very friendly, answered all of our questions, and even made menu suggestions. My wife ordered the shrimp fajitas with corn tortillas. There were lots of shrimp and they were cooked perfectly. Plenty of vegetables, not too oily, and had lots of flavor. I ordered the tilapia dinner. Wow what a deal. For $7.99 I got an 8oz piece of fish nicely grilled, refried beans (I subbed them out for the rice which normally comes in the dinner), a nice pico garnish, and plenty of sliced avocado. I ordered corn tortillas a la carte and made my own fantastic fish tacos. Overall this place has great food, outstanding service, and all at a great price. My advice? Skip the chains and give this place a try if you are in the area. You will not be disappointed!

We stopped here last week on the way back from vacation. The food here is very fresh, very authentic and very flavorful. We enjoyed our fajitas, taquitos, quesadillas and burrito. The free chips and salsa were also very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Mexican food in the Noblesville area.

El Palenque is our go to Mexican place these days for good and authentic Mexican cuisine. The food is top notch and oh so flavourful! They make a killer chili relleno and their enchiladas are in a class of their own. The prices are good and we never leave hungry. It's nice to go to a place where the staff are always genuinely happy to see a customer come in. I'm also a big fan of their house made Mexican drinks. The jamaica and horchata are both very good and complement the meal. While there may be other Mexican restaurants in Noblesville, they have a long way to go to beat El Palenque in the good eats category.

We tried this place based on Yelp reviews and the reviews didn't lie! As far as sit-down Mexican joints go, it's a 5-star. I prefer this place over El Camino Real now. Haven't disliked something I've ordered in a handful of visits, and the salsa is delicious.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
