Some of the best Fried Chicken that I have ever had. Make sure to get the chicken and not the chicken strips. The drive thru also has a quick menu and very good eats. Great malts that are hard to find these days.

Wow! Its 1982 in here. Same as the first day I saw New Haven. Food is ok and fairly cheap for what you get. Try the $6 patty melt, a bargain. However,smoke smell permeates the place, odd for a no smoking room.

Def better looking place than I expected. Food was just fine. However, "cheap eats"? I swear that everywhere here is just as expensive as New York. I had a biscuit with eggs and fruit and spent like $8. I can get the same around my corner for cheaper.

I have eaten in this restaurant over 100 times, all throughout my childhood and into my young adult life. I've experienced breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even a little dessert here, as it was very close to my childhood home. Reviewing this restaurant proved difficult - even though my knowledge is complete, it holds a certain sentimental or nostalgic feeling for me. When Fort Wayne, Indiana enacted their ban on public smoking a few years ago, Hall's in New Haven was the beneficiary - as one of the last remaining safe havens for avid smokers, the air in this restaurant became even smokier (yes, it was possible). The restaurant, covered from floor to ceiling in old dark wood, has a definite old, dank feel. Best for breakfast, often the entire dining room is packed with elderly, Conservative, after-church Hoosiers, and you may find yourself waiting for a seat. The quaint restaurant makes good home style food, nothing fancy, just good eats in a home-town environment (even if that environment is a smokey one). Dinner options range from burgers, Liver & Onions, and steaks, to the ever-delicious Turkey Manhattan (an open face turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy on top). For the price, you can't beat the results. That's not to say the food is fantastic, it is just VERY affordable. If you're in the area, its worth trying once if you're looking to save a little money, but want to eat outside the home/hotel. Don't come with high expectations, and you'll be satisfied, if not pleasantly surprised.

Quite good for the money. I live in fl and had to stop for one of my old favs, the Chicago burger. It did not disapoint!
