My favorite Chinese restaurant to date. They make the Mei Fun like I like....haven't had any like this since living in Phoenix, AZ (Super Dragon).

Sexy Beast is an Asian food fan. He loves it so much that he carries his own chopsticks. He hates those throw away chopsticks that most places provide. They are flimsy, taste funny, and if you just happen to be famished and chow down like a zombie who just escaped from the Kardashian house, you'll likely end up with splinters. So, Sexy Beast carries his own chop sticks. Since the place we usually get Chinese food from is across the bridge, we were pretty excited to find out that China Bistro had opened on Charlestown Road in New Albany. That means that we can get our grub on a full 15 or 20 minutes sooner. Yay! We were wholly unimpressed with the atmosphere. The dining area is drab, dreary, a little depressing. The bathroom was sketchy. Well, the ladies room was. I can't tell you about the men's room. I've been told that I'm not supposed to wander into those rooms for inspection. The service was fantastic. People kept coming over to ask how the food was, how we were, how we liked the place, whether we liked the salad, the soup, the entree. I prefer to skulk off to a corner and shovel my food down my gullet without interruption or hovering. Sexy Beast loves to be fawned over. So, he lapped that shit up. The salads were comprised of iceburg lettuce, a few tomato chunks, maybe a cucumber slice and a rather tasty peanut dressing. The dressing was delicious. The salad was mundane. The hot & sour soup was delicious. I loved it. Sexy Beast didn't get to eat his. I stole it. The crab rangoon was pretty average. I'd order it again but I can't see myself demanding that Sexy Beast fetch a platter for me. Sexy Beast ordered some chicken dish. He declared it acceptable and proceeded to commit to the task of cleaning the rather large rectangular platter covered in food. I ordered the Special. For about eight clams, you get salad, soup, spring rolls, fried rice, an entree, and dessert. My Beef with Mixed Vegetables was delicious and I ate most of it. It came with spring rolls and fried rice. The spring rolls were decent. The rice was not so good. It was a little mushy and lacked flavor. Keep in mind that I am not a fan of rice, in general, so you may find it perfectly acceptable. Sexy Beast didn't like it, either, though. And, well, he loves rice. I can't tell you about dessert. I couldn't manage to eat another bite after the salad, the soup, the spring rolls, the entree, and the few bites of rice. I'm told that they do deliver so you can get your grub on without putting your pants on. \0/

This isn't the best Chinese food I've ever eaten in my entire life. I reserve that for a little place called Ming's in Chinatown in Washington D.C. However, thus far it is the best Chinese food I've found in Louisville or Southern Indiana. The Orange Chicken is both sweet and spicy, as it should be. The sauce on the sweet and sour chicken is light and flavorful. The egg drop soup, while slightly underseasoned, is far more enjoyable than others I've tried in the area and is served with delicious fried noodles. The portions are abundant, too much to eat in one sitting. The dine in service is friendly. I'm sure we'll be back the next time we want Chinese.

Don't let the strip-mall exterior fool you, China Bistro is the real deal. As a new restaurant, it may lack the refined touches that would make it a solid choice for date night, but it would be a welcome retreat for lunch or dinner with a well-known confidant. The menu is extensive but accessible and the service is some of the best in town. Our group of 7 for lunch was well attended and none of us left hungry. I'm sure that we'll be making a return visit.

I really hate to update this review to one star but it's deserved at this point. When I first discovered this place, we thought it was fantastic and a breath of fresh air considering there are no Chinese places that were in comparison in New Albany. My first two visits were fantastic. However, it's gone downhill from there. I swore to give them a few more tries since they were great on the first two visits. I've tried my last time tonight. First, I will start by the phone call to order take out. A guy answers the phone. I told him I needed to place a take out order. He asked me if I could please hold on. I, of course said yes. I was on hold for 5 minutes all the while I could hear them talking in the background. I eventually hung up and called back. When I called back I was placed on hold again. This time there was another caller. Luckily, I did not have to stay on hold but about a minute this time. I was eventually able to place my order. Now, let me just throw this in there. I was right around the corner as I was on mg way home from work. So, I was pretty close to pulling in. I pull in the parking lot and look inside. Not one single person was in there. Now, I could have understood the holding, etc if they were busy but they were not. I finally got my food after 20 minutes. For the third and last time they have failed me. I order sesame chicken, the hubby ordered general tso chicken. As I was eating my meal I kept thinking "this chicken is a little hard" (I can't really describe it). I finally said something out loud and he says the same thing. So after $24 including tip I am quite disappointed. What I ate was definitely not worth the $24. Safe to say we won't be back. -Feeling empty.

Southern Indiana doesn't have much in the way of good Chinese food. This place is a standout from most. I love the hot & sour soup, the pot stickers, and the Chicken with Broccoli. I've tried a lot of their menu and it's all pretty good. There are a few misses, the Chicken with Chinese Vegetables isn't that good (for one). The service is good, seems to be a family run business. I like to spend my money at local places, and this place earns my money.

Fav carry-out Chinese restaurant. Service is fast and food is very good. They are very accommodating with special orders and almost always get them correct. The shrimp in shrimp dishes (eg Shrimp Fried Rice) is larger than from other Chinese restaurants. A little more expensive, but worth it for the quality and large portions.

Great value and food was cooked very well. Seasoning was on spot and not too salty. Great amount of heat in the Tso's

I miss their Pan Fried Noodles, no longer on their menu. I love their Singapore Mei fun (a very fine threadlike rice noodle). I usually call and use a drive through.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
