Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. This review will be a short one. I think everyone has eaten at an Applebee's. The menus are pretty much the same, and the decor is too. That means that service counts for a LOT. Unfortunately, the service here is consistently terrible. Most recently, the waitress kept disappearing for huge time gaps at a time, not just for us but for her entire section. So then, she was slammed with people demanding things, since she had to check all her tables at once, which then made her slower. It was a vicious cycle, and it shouldn't take an hour plus to get food at a damned Applebee's. The food itself wasn't much better. I love Applebee's, on a normal, good day. I ordered a grilled cheese and fries. Pretty standard stuff. It got to the table cold, and because of that, it just tasted like Kraft Singles taken right out of the fridge. There are better local restaurants, and there are certainly better Applebee's in the area too.

Great food and great service. Tom, the waiter was great. The queso blanco dip was a perfect appitizer. And everything I have ever ordered has been delicious. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite go to places. You can get it all. Whatever you feel like eating A's a full bar. Can't go wrong here.

Our small family has been to this location 3 to 4 times in the past few months, and each time we have had consistently good food and, on the occasions we have had Robert as our server, outstanding service. We can't compliment this guy enough. The restaurant is smoke-free, as are all in Indiana now, so no problems there. And compared to other places in Northwest Indiana, the clientele at this location are quite civil, making for a pleasant dining experience. It is nice knowing that somebody somewhere cares about consistency with both food and service. It is what it is, simple food, simple decor, a chain restaurant, but they are doing it at the top of their game here. A go-to choice.

Applebee's: Where you should go if you want a large selection of mediocre food, weak drinks, and over-the-top friendly service. Really, if you take it for what it is, a chain restaurant that doesn't have to modify its business plan because people will always patronize it, it's fine. You can probably always find something that looks decent on the menu, which has been the case for me (although it doesn't always come out tasting decent). But that's really more a criticism of the chain as a whole. They have reasonable food and drink specials, and they're not about making it an "experience," so you can get in and get out if necessary. My main complaint is that smoking is allowed at the bar, which happens to be inconveniently located in the middle of the restaurant. There are no partitions or any kind of separation between the smokers and non-smokers. That alone would be enough to keep me from coming back, but it's the boyfriend's favorite, so I guess I have to oblige once in a while.

I loved it our waiter Britney was patient and veey sweet she definitely got a tip not only that our food was great and we didn't wait long.

The bartender that works Sun thru Tuesday 4 to close amazing. I am so mad I lost my receipt and can't remember her name. I went there on father's day with my husband we ended up there as a last resort to salvage the day and she really engaged us and turned our day around! !!

"I'll take the three-cheese chicken penne pasta, but no tomatoes, please." "That will take longer. We'll have to make it from scratch." Until recently, I found out that one of my favorite resturaunts, Applebee's, didn't actually cook their food. I would never be able to give my compliments to the chef. If I did, I'd just be talking to a microwave. That's right, you read correctly: Applebee's microwaves their food. Those delicious looking Riblets were once sitting in a freezer, longing to be cooked in a microwave. It makes you look at Applebee's differently. The atmosphere is party-like and retro; great for a dinner with friends and family. But, it's kind of hard to think that you're eating a freshly cooked meal when in reality, you're just eating a t.v. dinner.

I wouldn't normally take the time to write a review about Applebee's, since I'm sure almost everyone has eaten there at least once in their life and they're all pretty standard, but I was especially disappointed with this one so I had to share. I think service is everything and I'm usually pretty easy to please as long as I'm served something edible and with a smile. I've been a server so I know how pain in the butt picky people can be, so I'm never one of them. If I'm served something I don't like, I usually don't complain, I just chalk it up to lessen learned and don't order it again. Bad service however, that's a reason for not going back. That being said... I stopped in today between the lunch and dinner crowd (2pm). We were sat quickly and our server Missy came over, introduced herself, and asked how we were. I answered politely 'Good, thanks. You?' She responded deadpan 'Busy. You ready?' Mmmmmmk...... We ordered the spinach and artichoke appetizer, the shrimp fettuccine, and a kids hotdog (just me and the mini me). The appetizer arrived quickly and we polished it off in no time. I'm five months preggo and skipped breakfast due to some tests at the hospital so yes, I was like a hungry hungry hippo. Anyway, the food arrived and the waitress ran by to check on us less than 20 seconds later. I said yes, we're fine, thanks. Once I had a chance to take a bite, I realized the shrimp was pretty fishy. Second bite to make sure, and yes...really fishy fishy. I confiscated the breadstick and pushed the fishy mcgross to the other side of the table so I didn't yak on it. Like I said, I was like a hungry animal here so I chowed on my breadstick and thought of what else I was going to order when she came back. Well, 15 minutes, a breakstick, and half my daughters order of fries later, Missy finally shows up. She notices I've eaten none of the entree and asks if it's ok. Not wanting to be a complainer I say in the nicest way possible 'It's probably just me, but it's really fishy'. She asks if I want to take it home....No, duh. So she takes it and walks away. Honestly, I just sat there a little confused. Is she coming back? Isn't she going to offer me something else? She looks like she might be a little overwhelmed, maybe she's just going to get a manager because she doesn't know what to do. Maybe she's new. Nope, not coming back huh? Hmmmm. No it's ok, I'm good. I'll just sit here and eat my arm or something. Oh well, we're on a schedule and we've already been there a while so I figure I'll just order dessert instead and she'll probably take the Fishy McGross off the bill. When she comes back we order two of the cheesecake shooters and she drops the bill. Hmmm....nope she charged for everything. $32 for a couple chips, a kiddie hotdog, and two shot glasses of cheesecake. $37 after tip cause even though she's terrible at her job maybe she's got a hard life and who am I to judge, I'm not a total jerk. Maybe I'm just crabby cause I'm pregnant and my hormones are crazy and oh yeah...I'm freaking starving. That's ok. Woosah. From now on I'll save my arm, skip it and go somewhere else.

My dad and my step mom like going to Applebees, so we did. The server ok and the store was clean. The wait time was not long. Nothing made this trip golden; it was just standard. I did loved my stuffed meatball plate. When you go to Applebees, of course 20 for $20 is always cool. We also had the spinach dip is also was a winner. Hungry? you can stop at Applebees.

My dad loves Applebee's. Like seriously loves Applebees. Especially this one. So this review is probably going to break his poor Applebee's loving heart. Sorry, pops. Applebee's bores me. Really and truly. Their drinks are mediocre--I sent back a "platinum" strawberry margarita--which tasted horrible and *nothing* like a strawberry margarita--and opted for a white peach sangria. The sangria wasn't bad except for the fact that it tasted nothing like white peach or sangria. After that I stuck with water. The water, I am happy to report, tasted like water. As far as the food, I'm hugely short on options when it come to dining at Applebee's. I'm a vegetarian. Yeah, so I know not every place has veggie options, but at *most* other places I can find something that works without having to resort to salad (except TGI Fridays, but that's another review). Don't get me wrong, I like salads, I just don't want a salad every. single. time I venture out for dinner. Checked the burger section, no veggie burger alternative. Really, Applebee's? No veggie burger? And no, a turkey burger *is not* the same. I asked if I could get fajitas without any meat--just the veggies and tortillas. Seems easy enough but, alas, there is no way to enter that in their computer system so it was a no go. Cheese quesadillas hold the bacon bits? Unfortunately, came out with bacon bits still inside. What's a stubborn vegetarian to do? I ended up with a plain grilled cheese and called it a night. The saving grace for this experience? Our server. She was awesome and tried exceedingly hard to make this whole debacle work. She is the only reason this review is two stars. Feelin' good in the neighborhood? Notsomuch. But if you are looking for awesome service, mediocre drinks, and uninspired food this might just be your place.
